  1. As far as I have been able to understand, Santa is sick of how people is doing bad things "just for fun". I like The Killers specially for their lyrics and of course all the music. My favorite part in this song its the part that goes like, In the sweet Mohave Rain the boy was on his own!

  2. This video is great! I love the sweaters guys!
My kids and my nieces love it as well as we all have twisted senses of humor. The Killers are an incredibly creative band and this is a great example of it!

  3. I love The Killers for their clever and witty lyrics. They are a fantastic band, odd at times but fresh. Good track, would definitely recommend picking this up.

5 comments about Miracles: The Holiday Album.
  1. I had a robbery at my home and several of my favorite CDs were stolen. Two of my favorites, Miracles and Faith by Kenny G, were taken and I could not find either of these in any store. Amazon.com came through for me and I was able to get these two easy to listen to CDs replaced.

  2. I have admired the instrumental talents of Kenny G. This selection of Christmas favorites is just a nice addition to anyone's collection of favorites. My favorite on this C.D. is Winter Wonderland! Enjoy!!

  3. Why is it the people that give kenny 1 star ratings seem to be so bitter? I discovered this cd last year and it has been a staple in my collection. I'm only sorry I didn't buy it sooner. I play it year round cause it's so beautiful and innocent. Thank you kenny for all of the wonderful music you make.

  4. Several years ago, I was visiting a friend's home, where this album was playing in the background. While I am not an avid light jazz listener, neither do I dislike most of it. But I liked this enough that I immediately bought the recording. Every year, I take it off the shelf for the Christmas season.
I really enjoy Christmas and winter holiday music. However, I grow weary of the "same old same old;" yet neither do I care for arrangements that leave me using my imagination trying to hear the melody. Kenny G's interpretations are a nice mix of the usual and the tastefully out of the ordinary. The instrumental backgrounds add to the interest, without making you forget that this is a saxophone recording.
I will continue to enjoy it for a few more days, then put it away to be reclaimed again next December.

  5. This is my favorite of all my Christmas cd's. I think the music is beautiful.

5 comments about A Christmas Carol - The Musical (2004 TV Film).
  1. I received this album from Amazon the day before yesterday, and since then, it has barely left my computer's music player once--I kid you not.

Every time I listen to this album, I'm reminded of the soaring feeling I had watching the TV production starring Kelsey Grammer and company the Christmas before last. Menken and his co-workers have created an adaptation of Dickens' tale that not only brings forth the wonder of the season in audio form, not only makes me wish the real London could be like that, but to top it all off, _someone_ has finally captured the way I have imagined the Ghost of Christmas Present ever since I first read the novel in third grade! "Christmas in July," indeed!

Kudos, Mr. Menken! You and your all-star cast have created a Christmas show that deserves to be rerun on TV for decades to come, right up there with "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and the many Rankin-Bass specials--truly a holiday classic!

  2. If you want to get in the Christmas spirit you have to get this. I first saw this musical on television in 2004 and purchased the DVD in 2005. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased the audio CD in 2006 so I can listen to it while driving. I think I know why I like this so much. Its because the music was written by the same guy who wrote the music for Disney's Beauty and the Beast (one of my other favorite musicals) during the early 1990's. This Alan Menken is an incredible music writer. Very inspirational! Very upbeat! Very uplifting!

  3. The music of A Christmas Carol - The Musical is absolutely amazing, and so moving that watching/listening to the musical version offers a completely different type of experience from simply watching the original play. It is touching, captivating, and catchy, and gets you in the Christmas spirit immediately!!! Perfectly cast, terrific voices.

  4. This product was excellent. It's everything I expected from it when I ordered it, AND MORE, even had all the lyrics, every single word from the movie, and I get to enjoy it even when I'm not around a tv screen. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

  5. Had not seen the show, but love a good musical. i could not get into this one.

  1. This is a great CD to celebrate the holidays with. A wonderful compilation of seasonal songs.

  2. I never tire of this Christmas collection of Peter, Paul & Mary. Have had this in cassette for many years, I needed to update!!

  3. My parents bought this when it first came out in 1992 and I've been playing it every Christmas since then. In addition to playing the album, I've also learned several of the songs and play them for caroling, gatherings, and whatnot during the season. There's not a song I dislike in this collection.

  4. Peter, Paul, and Mary's voices reach me in a special way. I've been listening to them since I was in high school and feel a soul connection to them. Their holiday album is one of my very favorites. It celebrates both Christmas and Hanukkah and brings to the forefront peace on earth good will toward all people.

  5. This wonderful CD brought back memories of the Peter, Paul & Mary Christmas concert on PBS years ago. The sound quality is very good - my husband, a real music buff, had never heard it before and was impressed.

5 comments about Joy - A Holiday Collection.
  1. A generally uninspired album - at times it sounds as if Jewel is simply phoning her performance in. Her voice isn't powerful, and when the orchestra gets loud she simply gets drowned. The better tracks are definately those where the production is kept to a minimum (Rudolph, I Wonder). In a few others (O Little Town, Go Tell it on the Mountain) her voice gets unpleasantly thin, which I found distracting.

Overall this is a forgettable set; personally, I really wasn't moved in a Christmasy sort of way. If you're a Jewel fan it's maybe worthwhile but other folks will find that there are better holiday albums available.

  2. I really enjoyed songs such as: Joy To The World, O Holy Night, Silent Night, Winter Wonderland, O Little Town Of Bethlehem, and Ave Maria

These songs fell a little flat for me:
Hark the Herald, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, Face Of Love
Medley: A. Go Tell It On The Mountain/B. Life Uncommon/C. From A Distance
I Wonder As I Wander, Gloria

The most exceptional song by far was: Hands (Christmas Version)

  3. Jewel's Christmas album is just an ok cd. It's too bad because I love Jewel, she is a gifted singer/songwriter. Joy only has a few great tracks, she does a Christmas version of Hands, probably the best on the album and beautiful rendition of Ava Marie but the rest of the songs lack inspiration. Songs like Winter Wonderland and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (sung with her mother) are cute but I can't think of any of other songs that are worth mentioning. This is Jewel's worst album, I highly recommend her other albums instead.

  4. One of my favorites in my Christmas music collection. I listen to it every day during the season. Her song "Face of Love" I added to my Christian CD and listen to it year around. Her voice is like an angel singing.

  5. Yes, this one even pushed the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack out of number 1. It's a wonderful collection. My favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night" and I have a very hard time finding good versions of it. This one is beautiful. The only downside is that she only performs one verse. I would have loved to hear the entire hymn, even if it would have been 10 minutes long! But it's still great.

  1. I ordered the CD for one song. I did not think the rest of the Cd lived up the quality of the one song.

  2. I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 19-YO grandson at his request and he loved it!

  3. This may not be the best ever Christmas album, this may not be the best ever BNL album, but if you like the band, have a sense of humor, and want a great album for the holidays, this is for you. The first season, I listened to it well into February (and, no, my tree wasn't still up.) I like that it covers Christian and Jewish celebrations, I like that it sings Happy Birthday to Jesus, I like the silly and the somber mix of songs.

I love BNL, and I really like this album.

  4. I got this befor previewing it. It was a letdown for me. I am a big BNL fan, I love most their stuff but this was just not that good. You can always pick it up as a novelty album.

  5. Undoubtedly my favorite Holiday CD. It has some goofy tunes that are total BNL style, and it's a must-have for any fan. I love the non-traditional versions of many of the songs!

5 comments about Sing We Christmas.
  1. 'SING WE CHRISTMAS' IN EVERY GENRE KNOWN TO MAN - INCREDIBLY REFRESHING!!

Chanticleer, the U.S. equivalent of the British King's Singers, is a full-time classical vocal ensemble named for the rooster in Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales'. It was founded in 1978 by Louis Botto, a tenor, and for a while was its artistic director. They have achieved critical acclaim all over the world and their repertoire is very extensive and varied. Just commenting on a few of the selections on this disc:
'Es ist ein Ros entsprungen' is a hymn that originated in western Germany around 1500, and is best known in the harmonization by Michael Praetorious published around 1609. The poem used biblical imagery that pictures the newborn Christ growing forth from the "stem of Jesse'(the father of King David), as foretold in Isiah 11. The metaphorical writings of the Middle Ages depict the patriarchal figure of Jesse as a rose bush.
'O Magnum mysterium',Victoria's most famous motet, uses a subline text from the Christmas Vespers. This is incredibly beautiful with its interweaving polyphony which leads to a hushed choral declamation at the words "O beata Virgo"(O Blessed Virgin) ending with a Alleulia Section.
'Here is the Little Door' is from a set of three "carol anthems", dating from 1918-1920. Herbert Howells was revered as one of the 20th century's most distinguished Choral composers, and I recently discovered him thru the album " by the Corydon Singers conducted by Matthew Best. It includes Howells Requiem in addition to the Vaughan Williams Mass in G Minor. It is the most heavenly somewhat exotic choral music I think I have heard in many years of listening; I highly recommend it.
'Glory to the newborn King'. Joseph Jennings, Georgia native and present musical director of Chanticleer, has often drawn upon his roots to create special gospel and spiritual arrangements of familiar songs. 'Glory to the newborn King' features four traditional songs combined to showcase Chanticleer's unique choral virtuosity!
This is an excellent group of carols, and it is always refreshing to hear 'new' melodies, arrangements; a joy for the ear!!!!

  2. A CD evocative of Christmas past and present. Beautiful harmonies both wistful and ringing with joy. Buy it for next Christmas!

  3. If you are looking for traditional madrigal sounding holiday music, this CD is for you. I have purchased this CD several times because I just keep giving them away. Everyone I've ever introduced it to has loved it. This finely polished group has a pure sound matched by no other. If you weren't looking at the CD notes you would never know this is only a group of 12 men.

  4. Someone who likes my music reviews has requested a Christmas album. Well, here it is. Imagine a silent darkness with reflections of colored lights twinkling on the snow banks. Suddenly a group of carolers can be heard making their merry way toward your own front porch, where you await them with a punchbowl of wassail. That group is Chanticleer, and this is the best musical evocation of the spirit of caroling you'll ever hear.
Chanticleer has produced lots of CDs by now, of Christmas music, Renaissance polyphony, and modern music. The quality of their performances ranges from excellent to mediocre. If you've purchased one of the latter, don't let that deter you from trying them again. I had the pleasure of hearing their performance of Brumel's "Earthquake" mass for 12 voices, and it was superb. I'm hoping a CD of it will appear some day. Anyway, this is the most traditional and the most celebratory of their Christmas albums, and the one I recommend above all other choral holiday disks.

  5. There's not much more I can add to the glowing reviews of this CD except to say that I'm surprised that "A un nino llorando" doesn't get a mention! It became my favorite on the album, even though the rest are excellent also.
"A Christmas Carol" is quite serene and nice, as well as "A Virgin Unspotted". Perfect! These guys are the musical male answer to Anonymous 4.

  1. I had lost this CD and could not live another Christmas without it.

  2. As most Parrotheads probably know, Jimmy Buffett was born on Christmas. So, it was probably natural that he would eventually record a Christmas album. He performs seven classic Christmas songs and three originals. He does the classics in his trademark style, and they turned out well. The originals are good, too. There is an unlisted bonus track, which is Jimmy reading "The Night Before Christmas". This is a fun Christmas album. Parrotheads, feel free to add an extra star.

  3. It is a very good - not superb - Buffett CD. It definitely has some non-traditional Christmas songs to jam to - these give you a nice break from standard Christmas tunes and are really what makes Buffett, Buffett. The standard fare (e.g. Jingle Bells could have been left off IMO). Ho Ho Ho & a bottle of rum is a fun track and is where the CD shines. Is great to use as background music for parties, dinners, etc... The CD is defintely worth the cost! Enjoy

  4. I bought this for my daughter who loved it! She wished that I had given it to her much earlier that Christmas Day.

  5. My very most favorite Christmas CD. Very upbeat and lots of fun. Great for any Jimmy Buffett fan!

5 comments about A Very Special Christmas, Vol. 2.
  1. I thought that I would love this series of music cd's, but I was wrong.
You get one of two great songs, and the rest are no good.

  2. The new songs in this cd are great additions to the long list of popular Christmas songs. These tracks will endure like the rest of the good ones, and it's well worth getting for your Christmas collection!

  3. The tract 3(Roasting on an open fire), tract 10(The White Christmas-by Michael Boton) and 15 (Sleigh ride- by Debby Gibson) were my favorites. It was pretty ggod, actually.

  4. A Very Special Christmas, Volume 2 brings us great Christmastime numbers by some pretty talented artists. This is a great follow-up album to the first volume in this series; and I recommend it for fans of holiday music.

Randy Travis does a spirited interpretation of "Jingle Bell Rock" with great percussion and electric guitar; Randy's excellent diction makes his performance all the better. One huge highlight of this album is Frank Sinatra and Cyndi Lauper teaming up for a duet of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." The arrangement sports that big band feeling and Frank and Cyndi never miss a beat! Moreover, listen also for Aretha Franklin's "O Christmas Tree;" this sweet number sparkles like gold when Aretha sings it.

Wilson Phillips performs an excellent version of "Silent Night;" but as other reviewers noted this album gets its strength from the duets including the one by Frank and Cyndi. Ronnie Spector and Darlene Love do it up right when they sing an electric rendition of "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree;" and Bonnie Raitt and Charles Brown team up for "Merry Christmas Baby." "Merry Christmas Baby" has a jazzy arrangement that'll keep you toasty warm this Christmastime!

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers do a good job on "Christmas All Over Again." This song really rocks!

The liner notes give us the song credits and the artwork is excellent.

Overall, this is one more Christmas CD you really can't afford to go without. This series is one of the better ones out there and I think you will enjoy this album very much.

  5. This is the best of the series in my opinion. The Tom Petty original that opens the CD is worth the cost of the CD alone. It is the single best rock and roll Christmas song ever written. Ann and Nancy Wilson deliver a great version of Blue Christmas and the Randy Travis Jingle Bell Rock is the best version I have heard. Bon Jovi rocks, Luther adds a bit of great jazz and although I am not typically a fan of hers -- Sinead O'Conner delivers a beautiful version of "I believe in you". There are a few duds, including Run DMC and Michael Bolton, but the bulk of the CD has very strong performances making this a classic Christmas CD in my home.

  1. I am sitting here in the living room next to the Christmas tree and with my family watching this video (we just hit repeat, so this is the second time around). It is wonderful. My six year old loves it (we've made him a big Frank fan over the years). It makes me yearn for these simpler times and evokes a wonderful warmth of the holidays. If you like Frank and/or Bing you need this video. I haven't seen the extras so I can't comment on those...just the half hour show is worth $10.

  2. This was an entertaining dvd. I especially liked the period decor and the interaction between Frank and Bing. These guys were icons in their time, and they sang excellent together.

  3. the film type was older and not as enjoyable. it was just the 2 of them enjoying an evening, it was a very short dvd,Shipped as promised.

  4. I was looking for old Christmas specials, and I ordered this, not really knowing what I would get. What a wonderful surprise! My children absolutely adored this special, which features Bing Crosby as a dinner guest being entertained by Frank Sinatra. There's a bit of a time travel sequence back to Merry Old England as well. This made for a delightful veiwing one evening over the holidays.

  5. What can I say...a short 30 minute show (then there is another bonus feature on the disk which adds more to the viewing minutes). Great music, very easy listening. I enjoyed this DVD, I think you would too!
