  1. Carreras · Domingo · Pavarotti: The Three Tenors in Concert / Mehta Glorious sound, fun and inspiring selections. Good for any mood.

  2. The concert realized in LA as part of the celebrations of the World Cup in 1994 is one of the finest spectacles that took place during the last century. On July 16th three of the most celebrated artists the world has given : Pavarotti, Domingo & Carreras together with Zubin Mehta displayed all their art, virtuosity and magnificence and the world just applauded them......

The Cd highlights are imho "Nessum Dorma" by Pavarotti, Domingo's interpretation of "Granada", "With a Song in my Heart" by Carreras and the part of the show in which the 3 Maestros join their wonderful voices : "A Tribute to Hollywood", "Around the World", "La Donna e Mobile" & "Libiamo Ne'Lieti Calici" .....

I hghly recommend this Cd !

  3. The "Three Tenors" concerts were basically a gimmick, but an enjoyable gimmick. I have not purchased all the "Three Tenors" reocrdings, because I have considerable other material from each of them.
The 1994 concert was a lighter repertoire than most. I have shelved my copy in the "miscellaneous" category, rather than the "tenors." Even so, the recorded audience reaction seems to be stronger for the operatic arias than for the so-called "popular" selections. Whatever the case, I will continue to enjoy this particular recording.

  4. when the cd arrived it played perfect. had all the literature and was perfect in everyway, better than a cd store. thanks amazon

  5. I enjoyed this CD because I like the tenors on it very much, and it included a number of selections where the three men are singing together, or cooperatively and that was the best part.

  1. I grew up listening to this album on vinyl every Christmas. It was a staple in our family and I'm happy to have it on CD now to share for years to come.

  2. Percy Faith and his orchestra was a delightful sound during my youthful Christmas and New Year's celebration. The music is flawless and timeless. No crashing mess of noise. All delightful, youthful music and voices. I missed having this album playing around the holidays. I'm glad it is now on compact disc and on my MP3 player. I can listen to this anytime. Do you remember hearing music like this on the radio after halloween pass (October 31st)?

  3. It's a masterpiece Christmas album, a reference!
If you listen to other orchestrated Christmas albuns you will find many of their arrangements are based on this Percy Faith's one.

  4. I had this music on an LP and have been hoping to find it on CD for a long time. I was so pleased when I did. The CD is excellent - all I hoped for!

  5. I've been looking for this album for years, we used to listen to it when I was gorwing during the Christmas season, so finding it has been quite a wonderful surprise. I purchased it first so I could check the sound quality and it was awesome. Then i purchased it for mom and grandma and they love it too!

  1. This is a wonderful mix of music. In my family, the favorite song is, "A Baby Just Like You." It's a beautiful song. John Denver had a way with music and a way with songs that can never be equaled. This is a great addition to any Christmas CD collection.

  2. I guess it is as good as all John Denver's stuff. This one wne to a Germany lady in southwestern Germany.

  3. I have always loved this album. I have it on vinyl, but was happy to purchase a CD version of this recording.

  4. I haven't had my hands on this "album" for years. I'm glad I took the time to get it in CD form. To me it does what music is inclined to do. It takes you back and reminds you of good times. I'm sure John would be in agreement.

  5. This CD is the best. I had this on tape many many years ago and it brought back such great memories I just had to have a CD. Buy this and you won't regret it. It will take you back to another place in time.

  1. Somethings you never forget. That special summer. That special someone. That special song. That special Christmas.Things that make you feel good inside that goes with you the rest of your life. The Archies have always done that for me since 1968 with their Saturday morning tv series and comic books. I've always liked their sound.Especially Ron Dante's youthful/versatile voice and producing. The Christmas Party cd still has their signature beat as they had back in the late 60's.All of the songs are familiar except the two new ones at the end of the cd,"Archie's Christmas Party" and "Christmas in Riverdale."Its a great Christmas cd addition. Everything is still Archie.

  2. Here it is the very first ever Archie's Christmas cd this is indeed one cd that any fan of the group should have.I've got mine so now it's time to go and get yours now.

    Rondall Banks

  3. WOW! I have been an ARCHIE fan since almost the day I was born! I have the Archie lunchbox, jelly glasses, cardboard records off the cereal boxes, comic books, trading cards, albums, cassettes, puzzles...you get my drift...I LOVE THE ARCHIES! A cd of new recordings? To top that...CHRISTMAS songs? How happy and excited can one person be!
I have to admit that I do wish that the recordings did contain slightly
more Ron Dante vocals but still...LOVE THE CD!
This will be my new staple Christmas cd in my player this season
and every holiday season hereafter! The Archies are back and hopefully
here to stay! It's a "Jingle Jangle" holiday season this year thanks to THE ARCHIES! YOU ROCK!
Please Ron Dante, how about a cd of all those unreleased Archie tracks out there! Good God! As excited as I was about this Christmas release, I don't know how I would handle a release like that!
    MORE ARCHIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. RON DANTE WHAT WERE YOU THINKING OF THIS IS NOT THE ARCHIES AS I REMEMBER THEM. EVERYDAY I STILL PLAY AN ARCHIES OR RON DANTE SONG THEY MAKE ME HAPPY! THIS SOUNDS MORE LIKE A JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS CHRISTMAS CD WHICH IN ITSELF WOULD NOT BE A BAD THING BUT TO PASS THESE GIRLS OFF AS LEAD SINGERS FOR THE ARCHIES AND HIDE YOURSELF IN THE BACKGROUND WHEN YOU ARE THE ARCHIES IS A MORTAL SIN! I LOVE THE FACT THAT THE (GROUP) IS BACK BUT WITHOUT YOUR VOCALS THIS IS JUST A CHEAP IMITATION. ALL IS NOT TOTALLY LOST BECAUSE WHEN RON DANTE CAN BE HEARD THE ARCHIES ARE INDEED ALIVE AGAIN COULDN'T HE HAVE SUNG THESE SONGS AS A DUET IF HE DIDN'T WANT THE JOB OF LEAD VOCALIST? THIS CD IS UPBEAT FUN PEPPY AND HAS LOTS OF FAMILIAR CHRISTMAS SONGS BUT WITHOUT RON DANTE'S LEAD VOCALS (IT AIN'T THE ARCHIES WITHOUT THE JUGHEAD BEAT) IN OTHER WORDS IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!!! BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!

5 comments about Cool Yule.
  1. Bette Midler never disappoints and this collection of Christmas songs is no exception. Especially Cool is the duet with Johnny Mathis.

  2. Bette Midler released her first Christmas album. Thank goodness! This album is a rockin', fun album with a sense of joy that is missing from a lot of Christmas albums by contemporary artists. This is one of my favorite Christmas albums already, and I've only had it for one season. I highly recommend it.

  3. Once again Bette Midler manages to record an album that is fun and merry, which couldn't be better for a Christmas album. It is always nice to hear new Christmas songs: "Merry Christmas", "Cool Yule", "Mele Kalikimaka"; all of which are fantastic in their own right. I especially liked the "Mele Kalikimaka" which has a Hawaiian theme (Bette's place of birth), and "Cool Yule" is simply catchy and upbeat which adds to the seasons cheer.
Of course old standards with Bette's vocals always sound good: "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "Winter Wonderland/Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (excellent duet with the incomparable Johnny Mathis), "I'll Be Home For Christmas" (sounds forlorn enough to make you cuddle up by yourself and still feel good about it), "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" (typical Bette and sung in a style that no one can duplicate), "O Come, O Come Emmanual", "From A Distance" (nice reworking of an old song; sounds new again), "White Christmas" (a nice way to end the album, very touching and Christmas like).
I enjoyed this album immensely and would recommend this to anyone who loves Bette Midler, and for those who are looking to buy new Christmas themed albums.

  4. She is a true entertainer, very few of them around these days. She has a wonderful voice and energy about her and does so many great Christmas/holiday tunes to enjoy and it always in my mox at Christmas time.

  5. The Divine Miss M has created yet another stunning piece of work! You hear all the wonderful colors of her voice in this album. From the jazzy Cool Yule to the somber O Come Emmanuel. This is definitely one of my favorite Christmas albums!

  1. Ella is eve Ella
with her voice in them even the less liked xmas songs become artistically beautiful and capable of exciting strong emotions

  2. For all would-be Ella fans...this should be a part of your holiday music collection. Ella's voice is so clear and beautiful in this compilation, it's a must have.

  3. This is a fabulous CD -- Ella's voice is a Christmas present in and of itself.

  4. I have nearly twenty Ella Fitzgerald recordings, and she is without a doubt my favorite jazz interpreter of all time. I also have a large collection of Christmas CDs, including Celtic, Polish, and standards, so when I finally got my hands on a copy of Ella Wishes You A Swinging Christmas, I was thrilled.

Containing eighteen tracks (including several alternate takes), you'll find swinging covers of Jingle Bells, Sleigh Ride, Frosty, and Let It Snow!, along with some surprising choices such as Good Morning Blues and an upbeat Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Ella's tight phrasing and genius timing make these old standards swing, but she also shows a sultrier side on What Are You Doing New Year's Eve. Christmas Island is a fun Andrew Sisters / Der Bingle jingle that hearkens back to WWII.

Ella uses her indomitable sense of playfulness to rejuvenate some potentially tired Christmas classics; nowhere is this more evident than on an alternate take of Frosty, where she adopts a little-girl pout complete with lisp. It was cute for one listen, but I found myself skipping over it on subsequent plays. Another fact that was a bit jarring was that the alternate tracks were not from the same sessions as the album tracks; they were recorded with a different orchestra as well. But the remastered sound quality is impeccable, and Ella's never sounded better. An extensive liner note essay by Will Friedwald only sweetens the deal.

  5. I got this CD just before Christmas 2007 and it is so good I am still playing it in the car on Easter!!! My favorite song on this CD is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, "Hang down your nose Rudy, hang down your nose and cry." I can't resist singing along.

  1. This CD could have been much better because of the talents of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Pardon. Most of the songs were "HO HUM" not "HO, HO, HO".

  2. Sadly I paid for the product and have yet to receive it. Supposidly USPS delivered it but I guess it must have gotten stolen or somethin...oh well

  3. I bought this album specifically for the cut "Hard Candy Christmas", but when I heard all the cuts on the album, I loved them all. Kenny and Dolly are the best in the business, and this CD proves it.

  4. I put this CD in my player and get the decorations out! This CD always put me in the spirit and unlike other Christmas music, THIS has NEVER gotten old. It could stay on repeat all day as far as I'm concerned. This has become a tradition for me. I'm a nut about Christmas anyway and this CD fits the bill! It's better than many of the new Christmas CD's that come out every year. It has been in rotation in my family since the special first aired and is still playing year to year. You wont be sorry if you order this CD.

  5. Kenny and Dollie are a great duet. They can sing anything and it would come out a hit.

4 comments about The Monster Mash Rock 'n' Roll Party.
  1. This is a fun cd and the songs are good, but don't be fooled like I was into thinking these songs will be the originals that we've all heard on the radio all these years. One of them is,"Haunted House". The others come very close and this is a very good album despite that flaw the songs come very close.

  2. Monster Mash Rock and Roll Party is a very good and fun Halloween CD. It will really get you in the Halloween party mood. I took it to work and played it at our Halloween party, and it really set the tone. Everyone really enjoyed it. The songs are classics that we've enjoyed for years, even though some of them are not by the original artists. And they're fun, light-hearted Halloween songs, not eery or spooky. I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes to cut loose and have fun.

  3. I was surprised at how good musically most of the songs on this CD are, since most could stand up on their own even if you ignored the Halloween theme. A couple of the songs I could live without, but overall it's quite enjoyable, and fun rather than spooky. I agree with everything my fellow Tennessean below had to say in her good review, so I'll just add that this music is quite mellow too - all soft rock and R & B. A few of the songs have some Halloweeny sound effects or voices added in, but more of that would have added to the fun. I've been collecting Halloween classical music for years (such as "Night On Bald Mountain" by Mussorgsky, "Totentanz" by Liszt, "Dance Macabre" by Saint-Saens, "Isle of the Dead" by Rachmaninov, "Dance Symphony" by Copland, etc.), so I'm glad to have this CD of popular music to add variety to my collection. Most of it has very good sound quality too. And although the CD cover doesn't affect the music, I love the funny spoof of the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper" album.

  4. Let me tell ya, this is a CD for any halloween parties what so ever. This is by far the best halloween CD ever made, especially with notable singers such as Ben E. King, Martha Reeves, Jan and Dean and others.

  1. Another great CD by Dave Koz and Friends - he seems to have alot of them! This CD really gets you in the Holiday Spirit.

  2. If you liked this, do a search for Terry Zylman. His CD "Moods of the Season" is wonderful. While it contains many of the Christmas classics, my favorite songs are the ones you won't find on other CD's. "Joseph's Song" is incredibly poignant and moving while "Fireplace" is dreamy and soothing. Many of you will recognize "Christmas Time is Here" from "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Mr. Zylman is an incredibly gifted musician, who has created a timeless listening experience you will enjoy for years to come. Amazon will link you to MP3 downloads where you can enjoy a sampling, or download the entire 16 track CD. "Smooth Jazz Christmas" is one of my favorites during the holiday season, and my favorite of Dave Koz' Christmas CD's. Not only do you get to enjoy Koz, but several other talented artists as well. I think my favorite track is "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" but the "Smooth Jazz Christmas Overture" medley is terrific. Happy Holidays!

  3. I usually love the music and styling and Dave Koz. I expected this to be exactly what the title said --- Smooth jazz, but it's more an assorted mix of styles. I played it one time, ended up burning the 3 titles I did like to a Christmas CD, and will probably never listen to the original CD again.

  4. This album is filled with inconsistency. Even within a single song, the artist moves from mellow to racing. This is across songs. Vocals could be left out altogether, and what was there was not good work.

  5. This is a good CD for the holidays. It offers a different twist on the classics. It will make a nice addition to anyone's smooth jazz holiday collection.
