1. This is a MAGNIFICENT piece to add to your gospel Christmas music collection. Norman Hutchins' rendition of the title song is MOST EXCELLENT! Also very enjoyable are the very spirited versions of Go Tell It on the Mountain (led by Chester Baldwin), Joy to the World and He Has Come on this album. What more can I say? This a great album with a sampler at the end in case you'd like to hear similar gospel artists. A must have for any true collector of Christian Christmas music.



2. This album is one of my favorites of all my gospel cds (over 100). I've never heard "Silent Night" as beautiful and moving as this rendition. Emmanuel (not just a Christmas song), Joy to the World, and In Excelsis Deo (this song seems to be missing from Amazon's track list) are my favorites, but the entire album is great. I highly recommend this album.

1. "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is a very heartwarming and traditional Christmas album from Pat Boone. I like the selection of songs and Pat Boone's voice is so heavenly and beautifully sincere. I really like Pat Boone's rendition of the "First Noel" because you can truly feel his heart behind the melody and the delivery of the words. It is so joyous.



2. Pat Boone's voice is very soothing and he did a very fabulous job on singing the christmas carols. I have the cassette tape of this x'mas songs a long, long time ago (in the late 70's and early 80's) but it's already worn-out. I kept on looking to different stores like Best Buy and Circuit City to purchase this aforesaid album in CD form but to no avail. Good thing, amazon.com came to the rescue! I can now enjoy the heartwarming x'mas songs sung by Pat Boone that I usually love to hear when I was a child. If you love Pat Boone's Songs for Christmas, I highly recommend Season's Greetings from Perry Como CD which is an equally good combination for your nostalgic Christmas CD collection.

1. I really enjoy listening to this album. Its a nice change from the traditional Christms music (eg. Bing Crosby), with a good selection of artists. The BNL and Sarah McLachlan song is excellent, but so is most of the album.
   The iTunes version has 19 songs - not sure why the difference.
   
   Buy this and the new Diana Krall christmas CD.



2. For those of you who have been faithfully collecting the Nettwerk Christmas compilations (Christmas Songs, Maybe This Christmas, Maybe This Christmas Too, Maybe This Christmas Tree), you already have most, if not all, of these songs. That doesn't change the fact that it is an excellent Best of, it's just a shame it isn't otherwise noted as such. These are still some great alternatives to the holiday music you get inundated with every time you leave your house from November through mid-January, and if you don't already own the original compilations, this is a great place to start.



3. This was a good addition to my Christmas collection and I have listened to it many times in the short time I have had it. There are some more cheerful songs but I would say overall it seem to me to be more of an emo Christmas collection. There are several songs that speak to unhappy or emotional experiences at this time of year. If you like unconventional Christmas music you should enjoy this album.



4. I ordered this cd based on what I heard on Itunes, and for some reason many of the best tracks included there are not actually on this cd. I was very disappointed by the lack of tracks: it really detracted from the overall album. Songs like The Weepies' "All That I Want" would have made the album a little more heartfelt and fun. The cd is not without its merits though: Dido's track is beautiful, and the Barenaked Ladies are always entertaining .



5. The music is good, but I guess I'm confused by this collection. Even the "big" CD choice of the 2 Winter's nights CD's here don't have everything on the iTunes selection, which is annoying. But, what you hear is great and a nice variety. "God Rest Ye...." is probably my favorite track and the reason I bought the album.

This is one a series of "budget" releases covering various aspects of Christmas to be released over the years by Rhino/Wea in conjunction with Billboard, all with 10-tracks each and liner notes in the form of track-by-track comments. Sound quality is generally good to excellent. All have "Billboard" as part of the title.
   
   Some others are: Family Christmas Classics; R&B Christmas Hits; Rock & Roll Christmas; Greatest Christmas Hits (1935-1954); and Greatest Christmas Hits (1955-Present). Some of the foregoing are also offered in 4-pack and 5-pack editions.
   
   This one gives you many of the "traditional" Christmas religious hymns done by some of the most renowned artists/groups/orchestras ever. Sure to be played every Christmas season.

1. This is a complete departure from the classic Boots Randolph sound and playing style! This is Christmas jazz played by the best! I mean, Boots is joined here by Hollywood TV recording elete! Notwithstanding the fact that Boots is the greatest sax player that's ever been! This album is just a terrific FUN departure! You just have GOT to get this CD to understand what I mean herein! Such wonderful completely new ways of visiting our Christmas holiday musical classics!

3. I just want to alert others that this is not "easy listening." Jazzy, yes, but also a little grating if you're expecting the smooth, golden tones that Boots can produce. It arrived with a different CD cover than is pictured here--again, jazzier. It is recorded with the Tommy Newsom Jazztet.



4. I had forgotten how much I missed this guy. He was mighty in the 60's. Enjoy his uptempo and man, could he play that sax.

1. I picked this CD up because it was a compilation of some of the most beautiful pieces of music sung by the world's greatest tenors. The CD has 4 different versions of "Ave Maria" alone, and is finished by Mario Lanza singing "The Lord's Prayer." This CD is a must-have for anyone who loves "soulful" singing by great voices.

   I highly recommend this CD.




2. The sound quality is worse than an old, scratched vinyl record. Music is boring and old. Extremely disappointing.

1. I'm biased, since my parents had this record in LP form since I was 6 years old and I always loved it. I still have the disc and it is completely worn out, almost unplayable. So when I found that it had been re-issued on CD I immediately ordered it.... It's just as wonderful as I remember it, and better because of the digital transfer. Stunning arrangements and beautiful playing by Purvis on the organ at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. If you love organ music and are tired of the purists who dissect music on baroque organs, you won't be sorry.

1. Not all of these songs are sung by the orginal singers. Like Rockwells "Somebodys watching me" doesn't have Micheal Jackson singing it. Don't buy it if you looking for the orginals of these songs.

1. I played this as background music at my annual Christmas dinner for friends and it got lots of comments from people who generally would say nothing about music. It is extremely beautiful and so unusual to hear our favorite Christmas songs played on the pipes. I highly recommend this to anyone but especially to those who like something unusal played on the Bagpipes.



2. On a fluke, I ran a search here on Amazon.com for a CD with "Christmas bagpipes", and this selection, "Highland Christmas", was the first returned match. After listening to the samples, I decided to order it. I have listened to it all the way through only once since it arrived in the mail today, but I'm going to have a hard time getting my other Christmas CDs back in the stereo! This CD is great! I cannot put into words what a great holiday disc this is. As another reviewer mentioned, if you like bagpipes, and you're a big Christmas fan, this disc is for you. Don't waste any more time - get yours!



3. This CD is exactly what I expected it to be. The one thing that most surprised was the speed at which the it got to me. It arrived two days before I had even hoped for it to get to me.



4. This cd really added a bonus this past Christmas! With the soothing sound of bagpipes. From songs you know to original ballads. You can feel the warmth and time that was put into each song. I highly recommend this cd to anyone who enjoys bagpipes put to Christmas songs!



5. This is a much better CD than I thought it was going to be. Nicely played through out the entire disc. My only complaint would be that it is titled Highland Pipers which lead me to believe there would be multiple bagpipers rather than just Iain Mac Harg. He does play the instrument quite well though. Great price too.
