- This is a great Halloween themed movie for kids of all ages and even adults. Good clean fun as you would expect from Disney.
- Halloweentown High is another enjoyable sequel to the Disney's Halloweentown series. This particular movie is even more fun because of Debbie Reynolds' large part as grandmother/teacher. Another enjoyable Halloween-time treat from Disney!

5 comments about Garfield: Holiday Celebrations (Garfield's Halloween Adventure / Garfield's Thanksgiving / A Garfield Christmas).
- I loved this movie when I was a child. Every year I watch the holiday specials and I look forward to seeing Garfield most of all. Now I have a daughter and she watches the Garfield holiday special any time she wants. And best of all No Commercials. That is the best thing...
- The episodes on the DVD are great, but the DVD will NOT play on my DVD player, which is 5 years old. I have brand new DVDs that play with no problem, and DVDs that are older than the player itself that play just fine. My guess is that something is wrong with this particular DVD. I have never had this problem before.
- This is a great set for kids I remember watching them when I was little, and loved it, so does my daughter! highly recommended.
- Chances are, if you're reading this review, you've probably seen a Garfield special or two in your days. If you were born after the 1980s, though, these might come as a bit of an enigma to you. Sure, we all know Garfield from the comics, but these animated TV specials were created just for the holidays and were aired annually for a while.
I don't want to give away any spoilers in case you haven't seen them yet, so I will be brief and non-descript. The three holidays on this DVD are Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. In each one, the main lesson to learn is the value of friendship and family over personal greed. (Garfield is known to be a glutton, after all). Not only are they heart-warming stories, but they are also quite hilarious! Laughter amongst friends and family is a great way to spend a quality evening in. These cartoons have lasting year-round quality, too, so don't feel the need to only pull out this DVD when the holidays roll around.
Sorry, nothing in the way of special features or bonus material. It is fairly straightforward with no frills at all. All the better, though, for skipping right to the reason why you would add this disc to your collection anyways. A must-own for all Garfield fans and a great treat for young and old alike! (It's one of the few cartoons my father actually enjoyed!)
- I love all these classic's and how great to have them all on one dvd. Great deal also.

5 comments about Mad Monster Party.
- This was the inspiration for many of Tim Burton's movies. This is an early claymation movie by Rankin Bass, whose most well-known work was the original Rudolph The Red nosed Reindeer. In Mad Monster party, the story evolves around the evil scientist, who wants to retire and leave his castle, laboratory, evil island, etc., to his nephew. The characters are all the classic movie monsters, and their voices are by famous old actors. Phyllis Diller, Boris Karloff are just to name a few. This is a classic for all ages.
- DVD was as expected excelent quality. Arrived within date expected here in Aussie Land . Thankyou for your prompt and safe delivery
- I remember watching this on TV in the late 70's/early 80's. I recorded a crappy VHS version off television and I was so happy to see Anchor Bay releasing this, and many of my favorite childhood classics on DVD.
I don't understand the reviews saying this wasn't good for children. I was about 4 or 5 when I first saw it and instantly loved it. It's cute, quirky and catchy. What kid doesn't find Felix's allergy attacks hysterical? Long live Rankin/Bass classics!
- This paved the way for all the Rankin Bass Christmas films (that all of us watch every year). Mad Monster Party was their first, and up until recently, was not available on DVD due to distribution problems. The new DVD print looks amazing, and a must see for anyone who is a fan of stop frame animation. Just remember Mr. Tim Burton...these guys didn't have computers back then taking care of their animation!!
- PLOT
Infamous for his Promethian creation of Life, Dr. Baron Boris Von Frankenstein has now discovered the secret of ultimate destruction, comprised of a glowing blue solution kept in a vial. Monsters from all over the world are invited via bat mail to a ball in honor of its discovery, and to decide on a successor to the Frankenstein Legacy. Included amongst the invitations, one goes to an unknown Pharmacist named Felix Flankin, an awkward young man with asthma.
Transported upon a sea monster boat to the island, greeted by zombie servants with groveling supervisor Yetch {a Peter Lorre characterization}, the monsters arrive one by one in ghoulish style, including Count Dracula {Allen Swift}, The Wolfman, Frankenstein's creation along with 'The Monster's Mate' {Phillis Diller}, The Creature, Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde {Swift}, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Who will be selected? Included amongst the delightful menagerie of distinguished guests is one Francesca {Gale Garnett}, Dr. Frankenstein's veritable Galatea creation, a curvy redhead with a voice as soft as silk {a 'cartoon cutie', as it were}, whose characterization could very well have inspired one Jessica Rabbit and Sally {NBX}.
After a performance by the resident skeleton band, the party gets rowdy and breaks out into a free for all. Francesca's plotting turns against her and she is on the run with Felix through the surrounding wilderness, where we finally meet "It" {Kong}. There are a couple of surprises towards the end, with a bit of tragedy, and where things are certainly not as they appear to be...
MUSICK
Partially a musical, the Mad Monster Party soundtrack composed by Maury Laws, also features the remarkable vocal talents of Ethel Ennis, who sings the memorably splendid title theme, with wonderful lyrics such as:
"The full moon... brings out the monster in you... a strange tune seems to be playing for you... could you be someone's invention... so unreal as you feel tonight... did you sell your soul to The Devil... at that Mad Monster Party last night...?"
Gale Garnett provides Francesca's sultry speaking and singing voice with the tenderly romantic serenade 'Never Was A Love Like Mine'; Phillis Diller contributes with the humorous, if not relatable "You're Different". Even Boris Karloff joins in with 'One Step Ahead', in a rhythmic narration, with an organ-playing Baron Von Frankenstein.
Of note, to celebrate Halloween, Horror-Rock band The Misfits would eventually record their version of 'Monster Mash' whose video features scenes from Mad Monster Party integrated with their show.
THEY'RE ALIVE!
The characters themselves are rendered in what has been appropriately referred to as "Animagic" ~ marianettes designed by Mad Magazine's Jack Harris, which are imbued with such personality so as to project the believable impression of life - this combined with the suspension of disbelief makes for quite an entertaining and Magical spectacle throughout.
I recall when this presentation was played every Halloween season, and being a Dracling favorite I kept close to My heart, I'd never miss it. Emerging from the nucleic innovation of Rankin-Bass, who also brought forth such ubiquitous holiday classics like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman, it is easy to see the influence this film has had on the likes of Tim Burton, inspiring many of his creature-characters from The Nightmare Before Xmas, to Corpse Bride and Beetlejuice. It is really nice to have a fun presentation which speaks to those of us who resonate with the Halloween aesthetic. This film accompanies the afore-mentioned presentations perfectly, and is a truly entertaining addition for the monster within.
EXTRAS
Complete with extras such as the theatrical trailer, production art gallery, and poster & still gallery on the DVD, it also arrives with a superb 24-page booklet insert detailing the history, creators, characters, actors, with rare posters, photographs, promotional material, and production art / stills, all making for a most worthy resurrection from the mists of past unorthodoxy.

5 comments about The Haunted Mansion (Widescreen Edition).
- When this was released the fall of 2003 I had great expectations because of how much I enjoyed `Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl" that was released the same year.
I was let down.
Have always loved "The Haunted Mansion" attraction at Disneyland.
Eddie Murphy doing his usual role of a smart alec, pushy guy. Did not care about his character nor the kids.
Madam Leota if you are expecting an eerie vision from the attraction you will be disappointed. Jennifer Tilly just repeated some of the lines from the attraction.
The special effects were great.
They did nothing with the characters & how much can a person take of Eddie Murphy doing the same old thing?
- First of all, the movie is fair at best and is best suited for the younger ones. But, the title claims this release as HD. It is not. I've received a standard DVD twice when ordered. Amazon was gracious and have agreed to pay return costs. Since then , I found that Disney has no HD releases. Please be careful.
- The story line is very bad. I feel like the studio rush this movie out to fast and not care about the story. I gave this movie 2 stars because the special effect.
- The story is poor and even predictable. The characters are underdeveloped. The movie does not qualify as an horror flick, neither as a comedy. What is it?
- Some of you reviewer guys out there should lighten up a little, already. This movie's for the kids & would make a great Halloween treat and/or Xmas stocking stuffer. I just happened to like it too...SO THERE! Seriously, it featured nice, even refreshing, kids (who weren't obnoxious acting L.A. brats), a beautiful Mom, veteran actors Terence Stamp & BBC's Nathaniel Parker ("Inspector Lynley"), whose rather cold good looks fit the "Ghostly Master's" role perfectly. I had never really seen Eddie Murphy's prior work, but this movie has suggested I might have been missing something. I liked the multi-racial orientation of the film, the lack of graphic violence & "F" words--and just over all good, kid & family friendly feeling of this movie.

5 comments about Monster Bash Fun Pack (Alvin And The Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein / Alvin And The chipmunks Meet The Wolfman / Monster Mash / Archie & The Riverdale Vampires).
- While I hadn't seen the Monster Mash, I knew the others were well drawn and had a dash of humor here and there. I probably won't watch that particular one again, but enjoyed the Archie episodes, and they are drawn to resemble the comics. I wish both sides of the disk were all Archie and his gang, but the Alvin specials were fun too. I won't wait for Halloween, I'll watch them anytime.
- Ok, for those parents out there who want their kids to see what Alvin and The Chipmunks were BEFORE the new movie, this dvd is a must. It's full of fun videos sure to please young and old alike. In our house, it's hard to say who likes it more, the man or the kids. hahahaha
- This DVD brings back so many memories of when I watched Alvin & the Chipmunks when I was a kid. I bought this for my son who is 6 years old and he loves it! What I was impressed with the most was the length of the DVD (almost 5 1/2 hours). It is a double sided DVD that has two full length Alvin & the Chipmunks movie(s) and the other side has a cute monster movie and several (15 minute or so) episodes of Archie Comics. Worth the purchase and highly recommended for all those Alvin fans out there!
- Great collection of Chipmunks and even an Archie cartoon. My 3 year old LOVES this.
- I bought two of the DVD's. One was for my 7 year old daughter and the other was for my nephews ages 5 & 7. They were glued. My daughter has been watching it non-stop. Her favorite Monster Mash. She found it to be very funny.

5 comments about Jeepers Creepers.
- Trisha (Gina Phillips) and Darry (Justin Long) are a college-aged brother and sister driving home on Spring break. Typical of that age, Darry is bringing his laundry home for his mother. All is normal until they encounter someone with what appears to be the most severe case of road rage ever.
Out of nowhere, a massive, paint smeared, rusted, ominous truck appears. It even comes with the loud, obnoxious, fog horn. In a matter of no time, it's on the kid's bumper, tailgating and honking, scaring the hell out of them. They eventually let it get by, and the license plate is revealed: BEATNGU...foreshadowing.
Just as their fear and worry has subsided, they run upon the same scary truck parked at an old, abandoned church. The driver is outsie of the vehicle, and appears to be tossing bodies wrapped in bloody sheets down a large pipe of some sort. Unfortunately for them, the person sees them and quickly jumps in the Fearmobile for the chase. This time, however, the truck starts ramming the kids' car and scaring Darry and Trish until they run off the road.
What follows is a tale of fear, as brother and sister go back to investigate the pipe, and uncover a grisly reality that will shock and terrify them.
The unfortunate part of this movie is that the bad guy turns out to be a completely cheesy, winged, alien of some kind. When it is presumed to be a mysterious, evil man, the fear is much more palpable. But when the large human/bat/chicken thing shows itself, the tone is completely different. And don't even get me started on the whistling - completely stupid. After an entire movie of mystery, suspense, and genuine terror, the killer's ridiculousness acts as the cold shower to the movie's built up heat.
- This movie was scary on so many levels, and the second was as as well. The makers of this can give themself a pat on the back, They created something that will be put in the same cateogory with jason and michael.
- The special effects are horrible. There was a scene where a head was cut off and rolling in the street. It looked exactly like a plastic one. The acting is below par. The plot that has been used by many other movies. It's a waste of time.
- I read a sampling of the 5-star reviews and a sampling of the 1-star reviews. My own review of Jeepers Creepers comes much closer to the 5-star reviews. Like many others, I also think the 1-star reviewers failed to grasp the real horror of this film. It's not about a scary monster so much as it is about a morbidly scared kid who in no way, shape or form deserves his fate - even though he inadvertently brings about that very fate. The 1-star reviewers all wondered why Derry and his sister don't just keep on driving till they're safely away - and they might have been able to if Derry hadn't been unwilling to simply turn his back on the body thrown down the well. But once they gave up that one and only chance to get away, they will never be safely away from this creature who has fixed on Derry as his next victim. This isn't your typical grab someone, anyone, and chow down monster. This is a monster who chooses his next meal very carefully, following a very rigid protocol. This is truly a serial-killer monster. Okay, he flies; okay, he drives a truck that looks more like a Sherman tank. Granted, that's a bit over the top: your typical monster wouldn't drive and fly. He also leaps in a single bound. And I have to admit the whole Jeepers Creepers bit falls flat; it's like the director wanted to work that song in somehow - but forgot to give some idea how the monster got addicted to it. Most of all, the 1-star reviewers are 180 degrees off about the acting. The acting is absolutely perfect for the movie; and Justin Long's Derry is as well-acted as anyone you're going to find in this genre. Before the movie's half over, you know Derry like a book, inside and out - and there is more to him than just being scared out of his mind. That happens to be good, not bad, acting. And you genuinely care about him and what happens to him - because you come to realize that, of all the people on the planet, he's the least prepared to cope with something like this. That counts for a lot in a movie.
By far the most disturbing aspect of this movie - and I'm tempted to think the real reason a lot of people hated it - is that the bad guy wins. Even for a horror movie devotee like me that's quite a jolt. You just come to expect - especially in this genre - that good will always triumph over evil. But this time it doesn't. And no matter how many times you watch the movie, the ending still get to you.
- Someone reviewed this movie before and wrote what i'm about to say again:
"I suppose that a lot of people going to the movies today have grown up on such tripe as Scary Movie, the Friday the 13th series and other crappy horror films. I suppose these same people expect that every little detail of a film must be explained on an adolescent's level, so as not to confuse them while they watch the films with their eyes as their mouths cannot keep from running while in the theatre. It's a funny thing - sound when added to a film allowed for certain nuances of the theatre to be present, so that the visual didn't have to do all the work. So to those who would call this film bad, I say: turn off your cell phone, stop talking to your buddies, and pay attention to the movie.
Jeepers Creepers isn't the finest horror film ever made, but it certainly is one that can scare the bejesus out of you. Certainly there are very standard plot devices in action here - but isn't that part of the formula for a horror film? ...
Jeepers starts off using bits and pieces of known scare tactics and then milks them with a wink and a nudge. Should the lead characters go back and see whats up at that creepy looking house where the even creepier looking guy was ....? Of course not! The characters even acknowledge this fact. However, pulled by the same force that requires everyone passing an accident to rubberneck, they do. (And let's face it - if they didn't - the movie wouldn't have been made).
At once scary, silly, laughable, and immensely frustrating, Jeepers Creepers shows us a new (albeit traditional and truly old hat) villain: a monster! .
Just what this monster wants is never fully explained as the film truly frustrates us by setting itself up for an obvious sequel (which I truly hope gets made).
The film features fine actors performing honestly and well. Eileen Brennan appears in an extended cameo that is quite unforgettable. The script is good, the cinematography is quite well done.
When you get up from a horror film, you are hopefully intelligent enough to know that the action on the screen is not possible in the real world. You have just been treated to little fright akin to a ride on a good roller coaster. If the movie made you jump, squirm, turn from the screen, or possibly yelp, then its done its job.
Jeepers Creepers does far more than that. This is a good film that delivers on the scares and leaves you wanting more.
Check it out!"
So that's it, hope this review have helped you choose this movie ....... trust me you won't regret it ^^

5 comments about A Perfect World.
- Fantastic story! If you want a movie that has action, comedy, drama, and is also a real heart felt story, this film is for you! One of Clint Eastwood's finest films. Kevin Costner is great in this film as always!
- I have been looking for this movie for some time now, but everytime it has been close to 30 dollars. Thank you.
- In a perfect world this story could not be told. In a perfect world there would be no child abuse or neglect and damaged children. In a perfect world an eight-year-old boy would not kill a man abusing his mother.
This is not a perfect world and so the story is told. Butch Haynes (Kevin Costner) grew up in a brothel in New Orleans, killed his mother's abuser, but was not punished. At age 12 Texas Ranger Red Garnett (Clint Eastwood) saw to it that Butch was sent to juvie lockup for four years, with the idea of protecting him from his felonious and abusive father.
When the movie starts, Butch and another man break out of prison, kidnap Phillip, just a boy caught up one of those situations. The other man is eliminated from the story early on. Butch and Phillip begin their road trip, a movement toward Alaska for Butch, a growing affection for a father he never had for Phillip. The synergy created by this man, neither good nor bad, and boy grows from negatives--each trying to create in Butch a father figure for those absent.
As in any road trip film, encounters with others mark the travelers in terms of character. Butch never intentionally harms anyone until child abuse occurs. Even then the viewer knows there will be no physical harm.
Inevitably, the manhunt ends and it isn't pleasant. After I saw this movie at the theater, I cried all the way home. The ex was annoyed and told me it was just a movie. Some people don't understand that art IS the truth. Child abuse does exist and does ruin lives. According to Laura Dern's character, a criminologist, Butch was tested in prison for high intelligence. Imagine what he could have been with a typical life! Even with his flawed background, he tried to do right by Phillip, even at the end.
A perfect world. It does not exist. So what is a person to do? A criminologist tries to teach explanations and understandings. Law enforcement tries to protect others by rounding up the doers of evil and bad things. Those caught in the ring of violence try to escape to a better life. Not everyone wins in a world that is not perfect.
- At 130 minutes, A Perfect World is certainly overlong - Kevin Costner takes even longer to die than Marlon Brando did in Mutiny on the Bounty - but compared to most films that attempt to pair box-office giants and simply ending up alienating both star's followings, it's actually rather good. Clint Eastwood the director fares better than Eastwood the actor, who could quite easily be cut out of the film, having little to do and doing it with minimum interest. Ditto Laura Dern's psychologist, who seems to be there solely to give Eastwood someone to talk to, but Costner is surprisingly good as the maladjusted convict on the run, coming into his own in a scene where he terrorises a black family (it's at this point you can just hear the film's box-office potential nosedive) with T.J. Lowther convincingly unmovielike as the young Jehovah's Witness he takes hostage and shows how to have fun. A minor film, perhaps, but with a darkness behind the humour that recalls Thunderbolt and Lightfoot it's well worth checking out.
- I got this movie as a birthday present 2 years ago. I love it.
As a Clint Eastwood fan, I enjoy it very much, here we have a CLint Eastwood against Costner.
What I love about Eastwood movies is the fact that he always brings up the best of human beings and explore that.
Here we have an exconvict in a runway along with a boy he took from a home..... The little boy called Phillip will steal your heart..
A movie to watch more than once...

5 comments about Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
- This is a guilty pleasure, I absolutely love this movie! It is funny and absolutely pure fluff but around Halloween there's nothing better than curling up on the sofa, having some popcorn and watching this movie! Elvira is a great character, thank you Cassandra Peterson!
- I don't care how old she is....Elvira is hott.Though this isn't the greatest movie ever made is is certainly not the worst. It's a funny flick that laughs at itself. But the star of the show is all that matters. She is gorgeously hott and extremely easy on the eyes.Obviously,I recommend this movie.
- Elvira does a nice job of romping through this comedy based on her TV character. She heads out to find out her portion of an inheritance and finds a disgruntled Uncle wants her Aunt's cookbook, not Elvira's assets. He must be a Eunick. While the town finds Elvira to be a grotesque floozy, the kids think she's cool. Elvira abiding by her own methods sets out to get money for the Las Vegas act by selling cookbook, house, dog, and anything eles not nailed down. Naturally along the way she begins to appreciate the value of them and is almost burned at the stake as well. Many funny skits. One of my favorites is her dream about her inheritance being like a TV game show with prizes offered in the same manner. I recommend it, especially to any Elvira fan. Most the humor is geared towards adults, but I found myself amused in a Jim Varney sort of way throughout the movie.
- As expected, Elvira was her entertaining, cheesy self and exactly what I needed. It's silly, clever and fun all rolled into one and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a video to take your mind off life's troubles.
- I've always love Cassandra Peterson, aka Elvira Mistress of the Dark. I just love the camp aspect of her, but also that she is strong and you know even though she maybe battle warlocks or the town mob, she's always going to come out on top, and if you've seen the movie that one will make you giggle a little bit, and can we say OMG for BOB in that movie, He doesn't say much but he doesn't have too...

5 comments about Little Bear - Halloween Stories.
- My four year old daughter loves Little Bear. The beauty in these dvds is that the stories are just around 10 minutes, and they play one after another. This keeps her entertained for quite a while. They are wholesome and fun.
- My 3 1/2 yr old just loves Little Bear and as a mother I do too. Little Bear is one of the few cartoons for children that I do NOT have to screen first. There is nothing in the content that I find objectionable.
- Great DVD! My son could watch it over and over again for hours if I'd let him.
- I love the Little Bear Stories. There are quite a few episodes in addition to the Halloween stories and they are easily accessible from the DVD menu.
The Little Bear series is classy, low-key, and friendly and teaches lessons without smacking you in the face with them. It is relaxing and I believe it fosters the imagination. I'm not great at watching the kids shows but Little Bear actually entertains me and it's easy to fall in love with all the main characters (Little Bear, Mother Bear, Father Bear, Duck, Owl, Cat, Lucy, etc.).
You can't go wrong with Little Bear.
- very sweet little video, but my 3 year old found it a little scary...wouldn't get it again

5 comments about Halloween [Blu-ray].
- Ya know, they splash across the screen right away about "Presenting them in 1080 high definition!!!". Well, not a few minutes into the film and i have to face what we once called in 3D gaming "THE JAGGIES".
Yeah, it is an "OK" transfer - BUT if you did not notice that ALL the cars in the drive ways had jagged edges running up and down them especially on the chrome, then you are totally blind.
I do not know much about older movies with their ability to transfer well to high def, nor do i own any previous Halloween DVD's to compare quality. I do know that this is the first Blu-ray i have had this terrible problem with and i can say that a DIVIMAX version may not actually be any worse.
My judgement may be harsh, but i went Blu-ray to escape those jagged edges; so to see them pop-up so early in the film just makes me glad it was only $12 when i bought it.
- Just my opinion here, but the night scenes still have plenty of blue in them -- and I do not think that this edition warrants a 1 1/2 out of 5 stars for video quality as some sites would have you believe. I am familiar with the Criterion laserdisc of this film (one of the best sets in its day) and there are certainly some differences...but honestly, like a lot of other people I always kind of felt like the night scenes had a tendency to look too "gelled" and either Cundey overdid the atmospherics a bit back in 1978 or folks started to get a little too nostalgic over at the THX mastering suites. I have a feeling it was a bit of both as the original widescreen video release of this classic was heralded as a total revelation of it's inherent style and I can see them pulling out all the stops to emphasize the visuals.
These day scenes do look a tad more green, and I would have preferred them to have more of the original autumn tint. But, any gripe about this is almost totally nullified by the gorgeous resolution the Blu-ray offers that is the best gift Cundey's cinematography could ever hope for.
- This movie was a purdy good one, suspenseful, check. Cool, check. Scary, ehhhm, hmm, uhh... check! Not a great movie, but the best, I'd say, as far as slashers go. If you liked Psycho, you're gonna LOVE this!
- This by far is the single most important film of it's kind ! Everything works. This is by far the best movie of it's kind ! The movie is a complete masterpiece with it's music and camerawork. Nothing will ever compare to this film nor will John Carpenters work to follow . The Rob Zombie film should be passed on as the rest of the halloween films. H20 showed some promise however. The 1978 Original Halloween is a classic and a great lesson how horror films should be made start to finish.
- The shape, the scream queen, the atmosphere.....it's all here.
The single greatest horror movie of all time, period.
The big three slasher movies?
Halloween
Friday the 13th part 2.
And the original Nightmare on Elm Street.
These three are the masterpieces of the genre.
Halloween?
My favorite holiday and my favorite horror movie.
This movie has inspired and horrified sooooooo many people, and still does after all these years.
A masterpiece in every way, the simple but effective story line, the music, the acting, everything about this movie is timeless and classic.
A must have, a must see.
I can't give this movie any more praise than I already have.
If you haven't seen this, and I have a hard time believing anyone hasn't.
