5 comments about Halloween - Resurrection.
- Halloween Resurrection is usually met with mixed reviews and feelings. It seems to be a love or hate type film. I think its clear that if you're expecting a film like the original Halloween and thats all you want, go look for Halloween 2 or Halloween 4. If you're more open to just a really good horror film with cool photography, a nice score, some pretty cool death scenes, and that can make you jump a few times this is something I believe you would like. Many Halloween fans do not like this movie, but there are quite a few that do. I have really liked the film ever since the first time I saw it. Its a fun movie to watch; by no means should you take the film too seriously. Just watch it and go with the ride. If you're the type of person who likes to nit pick every single aspect of a movie saying "that would never happen" then don't buy this. Don't watch horror films for that matter! Furthermore, I do believe this is a good sequel. I actually like it a lot more than Halloween H20. The best word to describe the film is fun. Thats the way I think of it. It does certainly have its share of thrilling and frightening moments. Its an underrated film in general and its nice to see that some do actually like this film. Most of the time you can buy it for pretty cheap, I do recommend that a horror fan check it out. Just have an open mind watching it.
- On terms of story line, this movie is not the strongest Halloween, but the first part of the film is what you get your moneys worth. They explain how he is still alive from H20, and it isn't corny. Nothing supernatural, dont worry. Then a shocking moment happens when Michael and Laurie confront each other again. It's edge of your seat stuff. What I also really liked is the crazy guy explaining Michael's killing career and he ignores Halloween 4,5, and 6. Those of you Halloween nerds, like myself, that hated 5 and 6 will love that. After the nut-ward scene of the movie, it is just a body count movie. Halloween has never really been a body count movie, until this one.
That is why so many people didnt like this Halloween, because it didn't have much of a story. It was just Michael walking around his house killing people. I love the Friday the 13th series, and those are the body count movies, so of course I liked this Halloween. Don't expect H20, if you loved that movie. This Halloween really stands alone. It's really fun and has a few good scares. Check it out.
- After the lack of Michael in Halloween III, Michael was dead and the attempt at a new franchise failed. But Halloween 4 Michael was back and the movie was a hit. Halloween 5 was the lowest grossing of the series and while Halloween 6 made more money it wasn't well received. With the Halloween series at a crossroad Halloween H20 brought back the series in a big way cashing in on the success of the Scream films. It seemed the series was over after the way H20 ended. I suppose the ending of H20 was due to if the movie fails at least we have an ending, and it was a definitive ending. But in Hollywood money rules and you know Michael some how would be brought back.
Many consider Halloween: Resurrection the worst of the series, while in many ways I agree I also disagree. Resurrection is a very flawed film and overall it's really not a good movie per se, but has some fairly decent moments. To be quite honest H20 is my least favorite of the series. It's nothing more than Scream with Michael Myers as special guest star. While Resurrection does follow that format a bit, I still liked this one more. I found H20 mostly dull with some decent scenes if not for Jamie Lee Curtis I think H20 would be a total waste.
The problem for the series was when H20 came out and ignored 4-6 a lot of possible ideas can now never come to be, and while I found H20 average at best there really wasn't a direction to go after that. And that is the biggest problem here the lack of direction and with the ending of H20 it's gonna be tough to bring Michael back.
The screenplay written by Larry Brand & Sean Hood is quite weak; the characters have no depth and are as thin as the paper they were written on. None really served any real purpose. They try to be smart and witty and by the time Resurrection came out the Scream era was all, but done for. So therefore what may have worked in the past feels like a holdover from another era. The script was weak, but it wasn't really terrible. This is pretty straight forward neither Hood nor Brand really try anything different and in some ways that's good. Despite the flaws of the script it was a simple idea and while it mostly fails it does have some decent moments. They were able however to work out Michael survived the previous movie. An idea was that it was an imposter in H20, which would rule the movie pointless, the idea of Michael switching clothes with a paramedic isn't as silly as it sounds.
The biggest complaint is that Jamie Lee was killed off. But really what direction could this movie have gone with her? It would be a rehash of past installments and the character went as far as she could go. There really wasn't much left to do. But at the same time I do think it was a mistake. How can you kill Laurie Strode? But I do understand why, there really wasn't much to do with her character.
Rick Rosenthal who directed Halloween II returns to the directors' chair and it's very much a mixed bag. The first 15-min of Resurrection was actually fairly solid. It was creepy and suspenseful and was very much on the right track. But it was also very flawed, which is more on the writing. Laurie's death lacked logic. She gets him and has him beat, but he starts to grab at his mask to trick Laurie, but does it matter? The guy just tried to kill you! And also if it wasn't Michael why didn't he speak? Rosenthal handles the scenes well, but they just lacked logic, but Resurrection was off to a good start.
But once we meet the new characters things just start to fall a part. Despite the weak script I think Rosenthal could have still made a scary movie. None of the sequels had a great script, this is one of the weaker ones, but Rosenthal still could have made up for that.
But even the scenes of Michael Myers lurking around fail to spark any real suspense. Despite the flaws of the sequels I do think Halloween 2-5 were fun movies. By no means do they compare to the original, but fun in the 80s sort of way. At least they were horror movies though. Michael was always there even if we don't see him we know he's there. Which brings in some suspense, but does it work? That's a matter of opinion, but at least they tried to build suspense.
Unlike H20, at least the feel of dread is attempted in Resurrection. We know Michael's in the house waiting and watching, but something was just lacking. In the case of most of the franchise they just weren't able to make the transition into the 90s and failed in the post 90s. Sure there might be that one sequel that sort of worked, but not like they used to. Rick Rosenthal does what he can, but it never works his problem was unlike Halloween II he didn't have John Carpenter to bail him out and save his movie it was all on him this time.
Sarah played by Bianca Kajlich was a fairly decent character, but really lacked any depth for the heroine. While Kajlich does bring a little more to the character she's failed by her writers and director and she just might be the weakest heroine of the series. I still liked Sarah and too bad more wasn't done with her. I have to say though Jenna played by Katee Sackhoff should have been the lead. Katee is an actress I'm becoming quite fond of; she's attractive and has such great charisma. She's always a blast to watch and her character was a lot of fun actually.
Busta Rhymes is one of the most despised characters of the series, but if you want my honest opinion as much as his character may have hurt the movie, you take him away you have one hell of a boring movie. Sure the character was a bit much, but he was entertaining. Busta does give a good performance, but he cannot be blamed for the idiotic things that he says.
The biggest problem with Resurrection is really the middle scenes, which can at times lag and Michael lurking around just doesn't seem to work as well as past movies. The attempts at the flashy editing don't really work. The final act is where things get better, but also gets very messy. Rosenthal was building some decent suspense, but than Busta comes in with his one-liners and kung-fu moves or as I call it Busta-fu. Right there the tension was killed and Rosenthal never ever got it back. It wasn't that suspenseful to begin with, but fairly decent.
Having Busta Rhymes do a karate stance and spin kick Michael Myers out of a window is not scary, it's just stupid. Having Busta Rhymes beat the hell out of Michael and always have a comment isn't funny, it isn't suspenseful it's stupid. Michael is the villain and not a punching bag. I like when characters put up a little fight and not just stand their and die, but you don't have your franchise player reduced to getting beat up like that. After so many movies with Michael Myers I think the fear begins to leave and Rick Rosenthal made sure of that. All the fear of Michael is gone. There isn't anything scary about him anymore.
If you are making a horror movie make one! Those scenes serve no point other than to get a laugh from the crowd, which kills all the tension that was just built up. What could have been an excellent final act that might have helped some what make up for the middle is just destroyed. The scenes weren't funny they were idiotic and after that all the tension is gone and there was no way of getting it back. I have no problem with comedy in horror, but if you are making a horror movie with some comedy you have to know when to end the comedy and focus on suspense and clearly Rick Rosenthal didn't understand that.
So is Halloween: Resurrection really that bad? Well yes and no. I do think this is one of the weaker parts and despite 4-6 being ignored I actually prefer those, but Resurrection does have some fairly decent moments and isn't the big waste of time most would make it out to be. As a slasher film it's some what enjoyable, but very forgettable. Dimension films is all about going with what's in. H20 was made in the style of Scream and with Reality TV quite popular at the time and the Internet age getting bigger, Dimension films went down that route.
What helps Resurrection is Brad Loree as Michael Myers; in my opinion he was one of the best actors to play Michael. He made the character some what creepy. Also I really enjoyed Katee Sackhoff in the movie and she elevates any scene she appears in. Also brining it back to Haddonfield is a plus and the score by Danny Lux was far better than anything in H20.
What amazes me is how many people are willing to accept this sequel over the remake. Even those who disliked this part were more in favor of a follow up. I just don't understand that. Do you all really wanna see Michael Myers being reduced to a punching bag again? Resurrection makes me appreciate the original even more as well as the remake. Overall Halloween: Resurrection is flawed movie; while it works decent as a slasher film it's mostly just forgettable. There was potential, but Rick Rosenthal was just clueless. Though I still favor Resurrection over H20, but while no doubt this isn't a good movie it does make for a decent time killer, but just barley.
- I never would have guessed this one, great addition guys!!Poor jamie has finally met her fate, (sob'''') awesome storyline, for the college kids, loved the alternate ending where Dekkard saves Sara. It was my fav.
- A broken larynx???
YOU MUST BE KIDDING???
Yet another slap in the face of fans of the original.
Just when you though the franchise went out on a high note, Hollyweird brings him back for another round of scares.
Not that this movie is nearly as bad as parts 3 - 6.
Not by a long shot.
Hollywood seems to have learned that you need a SOMEWHAT passable story line.
This movie, while not great, does have some great moments.
The beginning with Jamie Lee is awesome.
Did she really die? It wasn't that far of a drop?
Oh be quiet, if her brother can come back from the dead every five seconds, why can't she???
The reality show twist was enough to hold my interest.
The cast?
The usual monster food.
Is it a worthy addition to the franchise?
Hmmmmmmmm.......
It's not bad, it just wasn't necessary to make this movie.
It's got some good jump out of your seat moments but the Karate stuff with Busta is just so over the top absurd it almost ruins the entire movie.
All in all, I'll recommend a rental if your curious.
Its fun, it's fresh, it's corny, and it's nothing like the original.
But if you're curious, sure, go rent it some night.

- The spooky atmosphere makes these films. I recommend this Film to anyone. My favourite movies are pts 1-5. Pt 1 - 3 brings me back to my youth and the DVD transfers are fine, if you are after something intelligent, this is not for you, for the films are a fun and entertaining session of good-looking horny teens getting slashed. Not great but what the hell its all popcorn stuff anyway. If anyone is interested in Halloween collectables, email taylor5821@hotmail.com
- I always wanted the whole collection of halloween and ordering it from amazon was a great, recieved all of the movies really quick.
- Halloween II starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence picks up right where the original left off. This seuqel is a complete letdown, the actors look bored and robotic and the twist ending just about killed it for me. Stick to the original and leave this one to rot!
- I love HALLOWEEN II! I love how it takes place right after the original ended! Michael has been shot six times by Dr. Loomis, but he gets up and walks away! Loomis continues his hunt and Laurie Strode is taken to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital. Michael stalks the hospital in search for Laurie. Loomis finds out something about Michael that he NEVER knew. I love the showdown at the ending with Michael, Loomis, and Laurie. HALLOWEEN II is a treat for any and all fans of HALLOWEEN, horror, and slashers!
- The horror continues and it should have ended the series after this one.
Buy you know Hollywood????????
Any chance to milk a franchise to death and they'll do it.
Is this as good as the first? No.
It's a good continuation of the first one.
The classic cast is back and the story is great.
However........... H2 starts to go in a more typical horror direction with this one and every one after it.
Less intense thriller than the first and more of a typical Hollywood bloodbath.
The intensity is lost among the increasing body count.
More blood, more gore, less brilliance.
They messed with the music too, not as scary, not as effective.
Still, a must see for fans of the original and the last decent one in the series until Halloween H20.

5 comments about Jeepers Creepers.
- Trisha (Gina Phillips) and Darry (Justin Long) are a college-aged brother and sister driving home on Spring break. Typical of that age, Darry is bringing his laundry home for his mother. All is normal until they encounter someone with what appears to be the most severe case of road rage ever.
Out of nowhere, a massive, paint smeared, rusted, ominous truck appears. It even comes with the loud, obnoxious, fog horn. In a matter of no time, it's on the kid's bumper, tailgating and honking, scaring the hell out of them. They eventually let it get by, and the license plate is revealed: BEATNGU...foreshadowing.
Just as their fear and worry has subsided, they run upon the same scary truck parked at an old, abandoned church. The driver is outsie of the vehicle, and appears to be tossing bodies wrapped in bloody sheets down a large pipe of some sort. Unfortunately for them, the person sees them and quickly jumps in the Fearmobile for the chase. This time, however, the truck starts ramming the kids' car and scaring Darry and Trish until they run off the road.
What follows is a tale of fear, as brother and sister go back to investigate the pipe, and uncover a grisly reality that will shock and terrify them.
The unfortunate part of this movie is that the bad guy turns out to be a completely cheesy, winged, alien of some kind. When it is presumed to be a mysterious, evil man, the fear is much more palpable. But when the large human/bat/chicken thing shows itself, the tone is completely different. And don't even get me started on the whistling - completely stupid. After an entire movie of mystery, suspense, and genuine terror, the killer's ridiculousness acts as the cold shower to the movie's built up heat.
- This movie was scary on so many levels, and the second was as as well. The makers of this can give themself a pat on the back, They created something that will be put in the same cateogory with jason and michael.
- The special effects are horrible. There was a scene where a head was cut off and rolling in the street. It looked exactly like a plastic one. The acting is below par. The plot that has been used by many other movies. It's a waste of time.
- I read a sampling of the 5-star reviews and a sampling of the 1-star reviews. My own review of Jeepers Creepers comes much closer to the 5-star reviews. Like many others, I also think the 1-star reviewers failed to grasp the real horror of this film. It's not about a scary monster so much as it is about a morbidly scared kid who in no way, shape or form deserves his fate - even though he inadvertently brings about that very fate. The 1-star reviewers all wondered why Derry and his sister don't just keep on driving till they're safely away - and they might have been able to if Derry hadn't been unwilling to simply turn his back on the body thrown down the well. But once they gave up that one and only chance to get away, they will never be safely away from this creature who has fixed on Derry as his next victim. This isn't your typical grab someone, anyone, and chow down monster. This is a monster who chooses his next meal very carefully, following a very rigid protocol. This is truly a serial-killer monster. Okay, he flies; okay, he drives a truck that looks more like a Sherman tank. Granted, that's a bit over the top: your typical monster wouldn't drive and fly. He also leaps in a single bound. And I have to admit the whole Jeepers Creepers bit falls flat; it's like the director wanted to work that song in somehow - but forgot to give some idea how the monster got addicted to it. Most of all, the 1-star reviewers are 180 degrees off about the acting. The acting is absolutely perfect for the movie; and Justin Long's Derry is as well-acted as anyone you're going to find in this genre. Before the movie's half over, you know Derry like a book, inside and out - and there is more to him than just being scared out of his mind. That happens to be good, not bad, acting. And you genuinely care about him and what happens to him - because you come to realize that, of all the people on the planet, he's the least prepared to cope with something like this. That counts for a lot in a movie.
By far the most disturbing aspect of this movie - and I'm tempted to think the real reason a lot of people hated it - is that the bad guy wins. Even for a horror movie devotee like me that's quite a jolt. You just come to expect - especially in this genre - that good will always triumph over evil. But this time it doesn't. And no matter how many times you watch the movie, the ending still get to you.
- Someone reviewed this movie before and wrote what i'm about to say again:
"I suppose that a lot of people going to the movies today have grown up on such tripe as Scary Movie, the Friday the 13th series and other crappy horror films. I suppose these same people expect that every little detail of a film must be explained on an adolescent's level, so as not to confuse them while they watch the films with their eyes as their mouths cannot keep from running while in the theatre. It's a funny thing - sound when added to a film allowed for certain nuances of the theatre to be present, so that the visual didn't have to do all the work. So to those who would call this film bad, I say: turn off your cell phone, stop talking to your buddies, and pay attention to the movie.
Jeepers Creepers isn't the finest horror film ever made, but it certainly is one that can scare the bejesus out of you. Certainly there are very standard plot devices in action here - but isn't that part of the formula for a horror film? ...
Jeepers starts off using bits and pieces of known scare tactics and then milks them with a wink and a nudge. Should the lead characters go back and see whats up at that creepy looking house where the even creepier looking guy was ....? Of course not! The characters even acknowledge this fact. However, pulled by the same force that requires everyone passing an accident to rubberneck, they do. (And let's face it - if they didn't - the movie wouldn't have been made).
At once scary, silly, laughable, and immensely frustrating, Jeepers Creepers shows us a new (albeit traditional and truly old hat) villain: a monster! .
Just what this monster wants is never fully explained as the film truly frustrates us by setting itself up for an obvious sequel (which I truly hope gets made).
The film features fine actors performing honestly and well. Eileen Brennan appears in an extended cameo that is quite unforgettable. The script is good, the cinematography is quite well done.
When you get up from a horror film, you are hopefully intelligent enough to know that the action on the screen is not possible in the real world. You have just been treated to little fright akin to a ride on a good roller coaster. If the movie made you jump, squirm, turn from the screen, or possibly yelp, then its done its job.
Jeepers Creepers does far more than that. This is a good film that delivers on the scares and leaves you wanting more.
Check it out!"
So that's it, hope this review have helped you choose this movie ....... trust me you won't regret it ^^

- I bought this dvd for my daughter and she loved it...I liked this movie.I liked halloween II I think better, but both were great movies....
- This is a fun movie for the entire family. Lots of fun! I rate it B+
- A movie for the family to enjoy.Great to watch around Halloween.Fun to watch any time.Everyone can have a little magic by just enjoying this movie.
- Family Entertainment - Fun, Funny, Enjoyed. Age appropriate.
New Condition As Promised. Price was right.
- Both these movies are awesome!! As a girl who has always loved Halloween, I would say these are my favorite movies. Halloweentown is mostly set on Marnie, a 13 year old girl who has always had a thing for out of the ordinary. Also joined by her brother Dylan, and her sister Sofie. The kids are never allowed to go trick or treating, or going to parties on Halloween. Every year grandma Aggie shows up on halloween and brings the kids treats and all sorts of stuff! Later that night Aggie and Mom are arguing about if Marnie doesn't begin her training with magic as a powerful witch, she'll lose her powers forever! Over hearing it all, Marnie,Dylan, and Sofie follow their grandmother to Halloweentown. Where they discover the "dark thing", an evil being who plans to distroy all humans. Can they stop the dark thing before it's to late?
Halloweentown 2 starts on Halloween where the kids are a bit older. Marnie meets Kal,and shows him her grandmother's room. Meanwhile Aggie finds somthings wrong with her never-ending bag. Aggie and Marine return to Halloweentown to infestigate. But suddenly Halloweentown, which is supposed to be fun and colorful, with strange creatures, is now filled with dull, gray humans. Can Aggie and Marnie get to the bottom of this before it's to late?

- I love 80's comedy horror type stuff, this was surprisingly fun and I got it in good condition and very quickly, thanks
- I was kind of disapointed with the movie
could have been lots better
but the ride at Disney land California is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!
oh well
such is life
- This movie isn't any where near as good as the ride of the same name at Disney in LA. I can only hope that Disney made the movie about the ride and not the ride about the movie, otherwise the ride would of been very boring!!
If you want thrills, I suggest that you go visit the ride at Disney LA
- This is a TV movie that looks like a Disney upper tier afterschool special. There are obvious commercial breaks that should have been edited out. It's a little campy in spots, but with a little more polish, it could have been released in the theaters. The plot is good, with a twist you will see coming only if you are looking for it. Guttenberg and Dunst stand out, and Melora Hardin is so good I wonder why I haven't seen her in other films. The music is great - especially the big band scenes. The opening shots have fantastic camera work to give the scenes a touch of spookiness and unease without overdoing it. The special effects are upper end TV special effects; okay, but not great. Overall, the film is simple, feel good, family entertainment. However, this film may not be for you if you do not enjoy fantasy with a touch of the supernatural (Harry Potter, X-files, Lord of the Rings, etc).
- If you are planning a trip to MGM this movie is must! It is just like the ride. My daughter and I went to MGM at Christmas and the TOT was her favorite ride. She missed it so much I bought her the movie as a rememberence. GOOD TIMES!

- Fantastic story! If you want a movie that has action, comedy, drama, and is also a real heart felt story, this film is for you! One of Clint Eastwood's finest films. Kevin Costner is great in this film as always!
- I have been looking for this movie for some time now, but everytime it has been close to 30 dollars. Thank you.
- In a perfect world this story could not be told. In a perfect world there would be no child abuse or neglect and damaged children. In a perfect world an eight-year-old boy would not kill a man abusing his mother.
This is not a perfect world and so the story is told. Butch Haynes (Kevin Costner) grew up in a brothel in New Orleans, killed his mother's abuser, but was not punished. At age 12 Texas Ranger Red Garnett (Clint Eastwood) saw to it that Butch was sent to juvie lockup for four years, with the idea of protecting him from his felonious and abusive father.
When the movie starts, Butch and another man break out of prison, kidnap Phillip, just a boy caught up one of those situations. The other man is eliminated from the story early on. Butch and Phillip begin their road trip, a movement toward Alaska for Butch, a growing affection for a father he never had for Phillip. The synergy created by this man, neither good nor bad, and boy grows from negatives--each trying to create in Butch a father figure for those absent.
As in any road trip film, encounters with others mark the travelers in terms of character. Butch never intentionally harms anyone until child abuse occurs. Even then the viewer knows there will be no physical harm.
Inevitably, the manhunt ends and it isn't pleasant. After I saw this movie at the theater, I cried all the way home. The ex was annoyed and told me it was just a movie. Some people don't understand that art IS the truth. Child abuse does exist and does ruin lives. According to Laura Dern's character, a criminologist, Butch was tested in prison for high intelligence. Imagine what he could have been with a typical life! Even with his flawed background, he tried to do right by Phillip, even at the end.
A perfect world. It does not exist. So what is a person to do? A criminologist tries to teach explanations and understandings. Law enforcement tries to protect others by rounding up the doers of evil and bad things. Those caught in the ring of violence try to escape to a better life. Not everyone wins in a world that is not perfect.
- At 130 minutes, A Perfect World is certainly overlong - Kevin Costner takes even longer to die than Marlon Brando did in Mutiny on the Bounty - but compared to most films that attempt to pair box-office giants and simply ending up alienating both star's followings, it's actually rather good. Clint Eastwood the director fares better than Eastwood the actor, who could quite easily be cut out of the film, having little to do and doing it with minimum interest. Ditto Laura Dern's psychologist, who seems to be there solely to give Eastwood someone to talk to, but Costner is surprisingly good as the maladjusted convict on the run, coming into his own in a scene where he terrorises a black family (it's at this point you can just hear the film's box-office potential nosedive) with T.J. Lowther convincingly unmovielike as the young Jehovah's Witness he takes hostage and shows how to have fun. A minor film, perhaps, but with a darkness behind the humour that recalls Thunderbolt and Lightfoot it's well worth checking out.
- I got this movie as a birthday present 2 years ago. I love it.
As a Clint Eastwood fan, I enjoy it very much, here we have a CLint Eastwood against Costner.
What I love about Eastwood movies is the fact that he always brings up the best of human beings and explore that.
Here we have an exconvict in a runway along with a boy he took from a home..... The little boy called Phillip will steal your heart..
A movie to watch more than once...

- Just my opinion here, but the night scenes still have plenty of blue in them -- and I do not think that this edition warrants a 1 1/2 out of 5 stars for video quality as some sites would have you believe. I am familiar with the Criterion laserdisc of this film (one of the best sets in its day) and there are certainly some differences...but honestly, like a lot of other people I always kind of felt like the night scenes had a tendency to look too "gelled" and either Cundey overdid the atmospherics a bit back in 1978 or folks started to get a little too nostalgic over at the THX mastering suites. I have a feeling it was a bit of both as the original widescreen video release of this classic was heralded as a total revelation of it's inherent style and I can see them pulling out all the stops to emphasize the visuals.
These day scenes do look a tad more green, and I would have preferred them to have more of the original autumn tint. But, any gripe about this is almost totally nullified by the gorgeous resolution the Blu-ray offers that is the best gift Cundey's cinematography could ever hope for.
- This movie was a purdy good one, suspenseful, check. Cool, check. Scary, ehhhm, hmm, uhh... check! Not a great movie, but the best, I'd say, as far as slashers go. If you liked Psycho, you're gonna LOVE this!
- This by far is the single most important film of it's kind ! Everything works. This is by far the best movie of it's kind ! The movie is a complete masterpiece with it's music and camerawork. Nothing will ever compare to this film nor will John Carpenters work to follow . The Rob Zombie film should be passed on as the rest of the halloween films. H20 showed some promise however. The 1978 Original Halloween is a classic and a great lesson how horror films should be made start to finish.
- The shape, the scream queen, the atmosphere.....it's all here.
The single greatest horror movie of all time, period.
The big three slasher movies?
Halloween
Friday the 13th part 2.
And the original Nightmare on Elm Street.
These three are the masterpieces of the genre.
Halloween?
My favorite holiday and my favorite horror movie.
This movie has inspired and horrified sooooooo many people, and still does after all these years.
A masterpiece in every way, the simple but effective story line, the music, the acting, everything about this movie is timeless and classic.
A must have, a must see.
I can't give this movie any more praise than I already have.
If you haven't seen this, and I have a hard time believing anyone hasn't.
RENT IT!!!!!!!!
BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
- Halloween Goes Blu
John Carpenter's "Halloween" was, is and will remain the best horror movie placed on film and now Michael Myers can murder in high definition blu-ray. This 1978 low budget movie couldn't afford hi tech effects, so Carpenter brilliantly manipulated the greatest fear of all fears, "the element of surprise." I first saw this movie in the theater when released along with 4 other friends. 3 of those friends walked out they were so frightened, as did other movie goers. The remaining diehards like myself who stayed, frequently jumped 2 inches out of seats as ear piercing screams filled the movie theater with a deep sense of dread, panic and terror. I have owned the movie on VHS, Laser Disc, DVD and now Blu-Ray, it is the only movie ever I felt so strongly about to own every format. Through the years I have talked with others who enjoy this movie and we discuss the small little errors that even John Carpenter himself has talked about. However, there is one huge error in this film that to this very day I can not find one other person who caught this major mistake. If I ever someday have the privilege to meet or talk with John Carpenter I would be most curious to ask if he himself knows of the mistake. Until such time I will go to the grave keeping this huge flaw a secret. Blu-Ray lovers, the HD format in "Halloween" does exactly what it should do, making it worth the upgrade from standard DVD. The HD visuals are awesome giving this 30 year old fearful tale a makeover fit for the walking dead. For the first time ever in all formats the enhanced HD sound track gets the surround sound almost right. The only recommendation while watching "Halloween" in blu-ray is during the beginning credits while Carpenter's spooky theme song is playing, adjust your home theater audio channels. You will find the blu-ray enhancements on the center speaker will require extreme find tuning to match the other speakers. Failure to adjust the center channel will easily throw off your complete sound separation experience. Other than that, take a seat all you good couch potatoes, relax, take your shoes off, don't fear the reaper, and enjoy "Halloween" renewed. Halloween gets a rating of, "7 Potato More". Michael Couch Potato.

5 comments about The Worst Witch (The Movie).
- This movie is one of the worst ones I have ever watched. The only reason I watched it the whole way through was because my mom bought it for me at my request and I would have felt guilty if I hadn't. This movie had the worst effects I have ever seen - even a 1920's movie would be better than this! The plot - horrible/stupid/idiotic! The acting itself was much to be desired. To sum up - don't waste your money - buy a real movie instead!
- I was given this movie originally from a friend to borrow for my 3 yr. old daughter and she fell in love with it and I had to buy one for her. It' an enjoyable, simple, 1980's era movie with Charlotte Ray and Tim Curry of all people and it was very tolerable over the 100 or more times we watched it with my daughter over the course of a week. Reminds me of a Harry Potter movie but with all Girls!
- Kind of cute and funny but expected a little more. I really love the actors and actresses in this film though.
- The product was exactly what I was expecting but I was supposed to get free shipping and I was charged for the shipping
- thanks for the dvd i got it fast it is a good movie i will get more

5 comments about Max & Ruby's Halloween.
- If the kids like Max and Ruby they will love this episode too !! Children learn lessons and the stories are done in bright happy colors. My granddaughter loves it.
- My sons love Max and Ruby. The addition of "Max and Ruby's Halloween" to our collection was a great choice. There is something magical about these bunnies. Kids stop, sit and watch what's going on. There is always some cute lesson to learn. Max seems to turn the tables on his big sister Ruby and she never sees it coming. We love the calming effect of Max and Ruby videos. Sterling Hts Mom
- My daughter loves this CD. True Max and Ruby fans will adore this Halloween adventure.
- They absolutely love them! Keeps them entertained with good messages. Very happy!
- While I got this DVD for my three-year old daughter, it is ***I*** who am hooked on Max and Ruby.
They are so dear and funny; when my little one asks to watch Max and Ruby, she gets no qualms from me!
If you are looking for a sweet, gentle, entertaining program for your child, I highly, highly recommend Max and Ruby.
My older daughter has always loved all of Rosemary Wells's (the creator of M&R) books and now my little one is following suit.
If you'd like to check out another of her books, try "Shy Charles." One of our favorites.

5 comments about Monster House (Fullscreen).
- I had never heard of this movie and just happened to stumble across it as I was channel surfing. I am so glad I stopped to watch because I found it thoroughly entertaining. It is very much reminiscent of the Goonies. If you liked that movie, you'll love this one too.
It was fun too watch the kids being kids. So much of today's portrayal of youth removes the innocence of their imagination, their wide-eyed curiosity, and delight in being young. This movie puts it all back in.
Monster House is definitely a keeper, one I will enjoy watching time and again. When I want to be transported from the crudeness of life to an age of innocences often forgotten in today's society, I'll pop it in and push play.
And by the way, Monster House is not meant to be viewed by little kids, hence the "PG" rating. The ratings are put there for a reason. So responsible adults can wisely select appropriate movies for their children. Just because a movie is animated doesn't mean it's appropriate for children, especially young children. Seen any "R" rated animated movies lately? I have. So ignore the ratings if you want to, but don't complain and blame the movie when you have to deal with your children's nightmares that may result.
- when before there used to be just disney films, recent technological developments gave the opportunity for animated movie producers to release several animated films in a year that you almost cannot keep track anymore. some of them, sadly, became mere exercises in digital graphics, mostly marketing the film through the famous hollywood actors who record the characters' voices. i've stopped looking forward to new animated flicks of late, including monster house that i passed up when it was shown in theaters.
but unlike other animated films (mostly with talking animals) that even failed to capture my attention when shown on the small screen, monster house was unlike anything i've seen before.
the plot is typical - three prepubescent youngsters try to "kill" an evil house from eating halloween trick-or-treaters. but the typical ends there. the movie is filled with witty dialog and three-dimensional characters in a setting that has both its light and dark moments. there are no cookie-cutter characters here - well, maybe the protagonists were cut off from the same mold as your average middle class suburban kids, but they were portrayed so naturally as far as movie tweeners go, bringing in an added sprinkling of spice in them. the frontline bad guy nebbercracker was the typical grumpy recluse who drives away kids from his front lawn, but later in the film reveals a rich story that centers on the plot.
everyone else in between was there to bring in the token comic relief - the goth babysitter, her rocker boyfriend, the video game dork, the police officers - all in a naturally amusing manner that was never contrived.
i was aghast learning from imdb.com that ours is the only country where this movie had a G rating. for instance, there was a minor scene where rocker boyfriend attempted to make out with babysitter on the sofa. and while the main characters seemed generally well-adjusted, the story behind the house seemed too dark for young kids. the house looked really scary, for one. even scarier than the creatures in jumanji, which had a PG rating. the film also explores adult issues, complicated grey areas like what to do if your loved one became an evil vengeful spirit, or moral questions such as "does this movie unintentionally portray obese people as evil/scary?" that can get ingrained on impressionable minds. while the themes of unconditional love, devotion and letting go can be for all ages, it was shown so poignantly in the movie with adult sensibilities.
well, i don't know. i watched this movie as an adult and enjoyed it very much. it lacked the air of happy-ever-after that most children's flicks are known for, but at least for the kids, the movie ended up happily. that is, for the neighborhood, not exactly for nebbercracker who, though seemingly happy himself for his newfound freedom, would naturally have to deal with his grief and maybe regret not being able to live his life for 40 years (plus, where would he live now?). to balance off these complications, the last part where all the toys were returned and all the people who were eaten up managed to climb out of the pit was a nice touch. definitely for the young ones' benefit.
memorable quote from the supporting character skull (the videogame enthusiast), attempting to impart some words of wisdom:
"In my travels to video game and comic book conventions, I've seen many strange and wondrous things".
- Good product, great prices, speedy delivery. I'm completely satisfied as is my son who loves his DVD.
- This is a fun, spooky movie for kids but us adults enjoyed it too. The effects are really neat, the things the house does. I found some good humor in it as well. I may not watch it 10 times, but most kids will.
- Thoroughly enjoyed it. Spooky scary. Probably too much so for kids under 11. Highly recommend.
