- Nice collections of "SpongeBob" material, though I suggest moving to the seasonal boxed sets instead.
- This SpongeBob SquarePants DVD has to to be the best one yet! it has a lot of funny episodes from different seasons of the television series. It's really original and the episodes are just good! It's a good collection of 10 episodes and it has over 90 minutes of fun. The special features aren't the best ever because they could have added more, but it's the episodes themselves why you should purchase this item. Below is the list of episodes this DVD contains and the grade I give them.
1) Scaredy Pants (Halloween episode) = A
2) Imitation Krabs = A+
3) Frankendoodle = A++ (funny!)
4) I Was A Teenage Gary = A
5) Squidward, the Unfriendly Ghost = A+
6) The Secret Box = A+
7) Band Geeks = A
8) Welcome to Chum Bucket = A+
9) My Pretty Seahorse = A
10) Idiot Box = A+
Trust me, you won't be sorry. Go SpongeBob!
- my child loves this little guy. I can buy anything SpongeBob and not go wrong.
- Spongebob is an icon! Spongebob and Patrick, what a combination!!
You cant go wrong with Spongebob!
- I find my husband and son watching this all the time. I mainly bought it for our son but my husband loves it just as much. It's great to add to our holiday collection of movies. Can't have too many halloween movies, especially for the whole family to enjoy.

5 comments about Masters of Horror - Family.
- if you're like me and thought lucky mckee's Sick Girl was the clear stand-out from season 1 then you'll probably consider this a close second for the series so far. the main character has the same level of originality, having a unique schizophrenic identity (arguing with the skeletons he lives with that he's dressed up like the family members he believes or pretends they are) that exists separate to his sinister villain status. the idea that he's trying to create this fake ideal family, but he still fights with his imaginary wife, is clever and well executed. a kind of sub-plot of normality within the madness. the twist ending is the most typical uncreative part. i totally didn't see it coming at all but it contradicted the entire previous interesting story rather than concluding it so it's just a total cop-out. full credit for the episode's entertainment value should go to the scriptwriter and actors, the director is of no consequence.
- I REALLY LIKED THIS MOVIE!IT'S DIFFERENT.THE MAN'S TALKING TO HIS NEIGHBORS-AND ALL OF A SUDDEN,HE HEARS THE WIFE SAY CERTAIN THINGS THAT SHE'S NOT SAYING:SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE SAID TO HER HUSBAND.THAT WAS FUNNY IN A WAY BECAUSE THE MAN GETS ALL CONFUSED.THE MAN'S CONSTANTLY LISTENING TO CHURCH MUSIC-WHILE MAKING HIS PERFECT FAMILY.IT'S REALLY A GOOD MOVIE.IT'S A COMPLETELY SURPRISE ENDING.
- ........but if you like grade b horror, then this one is for you. typical masters of horror. great!
- Family, directed by the great John Landis (An American Werewolf in London, Animal House) and written by Brett Hanley (Frailty) stars Cheers veteran George Wendt as a suburban serial killer, who keeps the skeletons of his victims in his home acting as his "family". When new neighbors move in (Meredith Monroe, Matt Keeslar), his life gets further complicated, especially when he starts eyeing the wife as a new addition to his family. What it may lack in the blood and gore department, Family more than makes up with the delicious twists and turns that the episode ends up taking. Wendt is great, and the episode as a whole ends up being one of the best things John Landis has committed to celluloid in quite a while. All in all, Family is one of the most enjoyable Masters of Horror episodes you'll ever see, and is also one of the best as well.
- John Landis brings his mix of horror and humor into this very entertaining episode in what has been to me a disappointing series.
George Wendt is convincing as a psychopath with a normal exterior.
He is intelligent, friendly, polite.
He has a house full of murder victims that he has stripped down to the bones, clothed, and placed in various poses throughout his hidden living area.
The episode begins in his basement where he is carefully, almost lovingly giving the latest member of his "family" an acid bath, before assembling the parts to be placed in the living room where the rest of his family "lives". He makes lunch for them, has conversations with them, and we get to see them "alive", as he sees them.
His chance meeting with the new neighbors starts a chain of events leading to a twist of an ending!
Be sure to pay attention in the scene where George Wendt is in the hospital emergency room, where "Dr. Howard and Dr. Fine" are being paged over the P.A. system.
Awesome camera angles, surprising plot twists, and creepiness laced with humor make this episode my favorite so far!

- I love this dvd. Lots of stories that I haven't seen before and some that are my favorites from when I was a kid. Plus a free Halloween train. I love the repeat feature, cause I like to watch dvds while I sleep, and if I wake up in the middle of the night I don't have to get up and press play again, because the dvd just repeats. It's nice.

- Specifically "The DVD is programmed to loop indefinitely so your display can go on uninterrupted all night!"
This is not true. The heads in the DVD are random and change constantly. In order to play the video continuously it requires that the users DVD player have a repeat feature otherwise it will return to the menu screen when complete.
Additionally, if someone wanted only a Clown face you would need to manually input several chapters and have it skip over the remaining faces/chapters. Instead of the pumpkin face appearing for several minutes, and then the clown face for several minutes, it jumps back and forth between all of the faces. For instance, if someone wanted only a clown face they would need to program in several different chapters and leave off the remaining faces.
To illustrate, the first scene is a clown face for approx. 20 seconds, then to a pumpkin face, then to Frankenstein, and back to a clown again. Then it moves on to a mad scientist, back to a clown, then a pumpkin. Each face appearing for approx 15-20 second intervals.
Also keep in mind that for the effect to work the larger the tv used the better. The video says to use smaller tv's that are easier to move around however the smaller the tv the smaller the image. Using a 13" tv as the video suggests leaves the image too small to view once set up. A flat screen 19" or 25" is required to have the image appear life-size.
I own all three dvd's in this series and the result and description above is true for all of them.
- We've used the Big Scream TV DVD's for a couple of adult Halloween parties and I love them. They run on a continuous loop so there's no need to replay them. The faces are suitable of children and funny enough for adults.
I'm sure that when this DVD was made LCD TV's were very expensive - that's why the set up recommends smaller TV's that are not as heavy. Of course these days LCD TV are more common and bigger TV's are lighter making them easier to use for this special effect. We use a 40 inch LCD screen to create a bigger `head'.
Whenever we've used this DVD during adult Halloween parties we always get many compliments from our friends. For very little money you can get the most amazing special effect that everyone will enjoy. It's worth every penny!

5 comments about The Pagan Invasion: Halloween-Trick Or Treat.
- I have been a Christian for seven years and I have struggled with this issue about Halloween. I could not decide whether it was bad or good and if I should allow my children to celebrate it. The first year I let my children go out trick or treating and didn't think anything of it. As I began attending church I found that out that they did not think that children should go out trick or treating, but instead they had an alternative for them. They could come out to the church and dress up in a safe and fun environment but they were not allowed to dress in scary costumes. I went along with it. But I still wasn't sure. I still let the kids dress up for the school Halloween party. One year after the party I took them to the mall because the merchants were all giving out candies to children who were dressed up.
I didn't want to deprive my children of this fun celebration. Eventually I grew closer to God and began digging into His word to find out if Halloween was okay or not. I could not find anything in the Bible that suggest that He approves of it. In fact I believe that I found more evidence that suggested that He did not approve and was total against it. See the links below to read about the truth about about Halloween and what God thinks of it.I saw a video called "Halloween Trick or Treat" that gave me some insight to what the celebration is really about. Then I began searching the Internet for the history of Halloween and I was shocked at the results I found. I decided that I would stand up for God and for what I believe and share it with everyone who wants to know the truth about Halloween.
- Well when I first seen this viedo I cried because it broght back a flood of chidhood memories, Memories I have long sence tried to forget. This viedo, along with other help has helped me move forward from the evil I do so remember. Please don't think this viedo a mere joke nor incorrect in its findings. This evening in which one plays with is not fun for many. Think about it.
- Okay, I give this video a 3 star rating for two reasons, the first being, that it is absolutley hysterical in its horrid comparissons and desperarte attempts at linking Halloween to satanism, or to a lesser extent, betraying Gods word. It gets the 3 star because where it excells in gut wrenching humour by accident, it is actually meant to be serious, trying to prove a point of Halloween's "rooted evil;" stars off there folks, sorry. Maybe if the people researching and reviewing this evil, black mass of a holiday known as Halloween took 3 seconds to look beyond their "fact laiden" bible, they could have maybe researched the actual history of the holiday. There is no satanic connection to Halloween either currently or in the past, and if someone tied satanism to it, that was by choice. And since were talking history, didn't the Christians have a corgial understanding with the Nazi party? Yeah i think that was the catholic church in fact, but hey who needs history? Apparently not the christians. My final words on halloween are this, there is no evil present when a father takes his daughter house to house getting candy while grandparents take pictures; the Nestle candy company may be be greedy, but i dont see pentagrams on their chocolate bars (...)
- I have not seen the video but I read the reveiws and I just wanted to respond to the comment you made about Christians involvement with the Nazis. It was not Bible believing Christians but the Catholic religion that was involved with the Nazi party. Despite what many people think, the Catholic church is not Christian by any means. The Bible teaches that you are saved by grace through faith and not by works. Ephesians 2:8-9: Titus 3:5. To earn Heaven we would have to be absolutely perfect but we are not. Thats why Jesus came and died on the cross and rose again. So that we can be saved by faith in Him because we cannot earn salvation. The Bible teaches that we are saved by turning from our sin and turning to the Lord Jesus Christ in faith. Good works come after because the Holy Spirit lives within you and you have a new desire to serve the Lord after you are saved or born again (a spiritual rebith
). The Catholic religion teaches that you do all the "good works" you can and then you will die and go to purgatory (a man made doctrine) where you hope that someone will pray you out. There is no securety of eternal life in Catholicism but in The Bible (God's Holy Word) we find that we can KNOW that we have eternal life if we believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13. The Catholic religion is not Christian. They preach a different Gospel than the Bible.
The Catholic church was not the first church. Catholicism was started when Constintine braught paganism and Christianity together. The new testiment church was around long before Catholicism. The new testiment church has always been around called by many names (novations, Paulicians, Dontanists) and are called Baptist today. Even many Baptists broke away from the Bible and thats why there are so many different groups who still use that name but dont represent biblical Christianity. Altimately it doesnt matter what denomination you are. What matters is, Do you know where your going when you die? You can know for sure. After you get saved you find a Bible believing church that magnifies the Name of Jesus Christ and the word of God.
- Too many people, Christians included, take things lightly just because they've always been set aside for fun and for kids. Halloween is a very important holiday for those who are deeply into witchcraft, wicca or satanism and they take it very seriously.
The testimonials offered in this video by the former satanists are the most powerful part of its content, in my opinion. The simple fact that children are dedicated to the practice of stanism at an early age and before they are able to make a choice for themselves is sad, but all too true.
Sacrifices and rituals that involve the rape, torture and murder of innocent ones who are born into families that believe they will receive power from their god, satan, through these sacrifices are performed or offered on this holiday and anyone who participates in the simple childish cover for it is in full support of the activities on the darkest, most secret sides of it.
It is a typical ploy of any sect of society that is in obvious violation of what is good and right legally and morally, but still want to be accepted broadly by those who refuse to be educated on the underlying cause and meanings of it. Most efforts to mask these things are directed at children since parents will feel guilty and be embarrassed if they "deny" their little ones the fun and games of trick or treat and the other facets of the halloween celebration.
This is a good video and the only complaint that I'd offer is that it is a bit dated in both music and graphic presentation. The information is good and more testimonials from former satanists on the true occurances of the halloween eve celebration would add to its credibility and impact.

5 comments about Halloween.
- This film is often hailed as Carpenter's masterpiece. Though it isn't (that would be Assault on Precinct 13), it is, nevertheless, one of the greatest slasher films ever made. People also often wrongly state that Halloween is the first slasher film ever made. Not so. There were many Italian slashers before it, including The Bird with the Crystal Plumage and Twitch of the Death Nerve.
The mood and pacing of this film are nearly flawless. The soundtrack is classic. What many don't know is that Carpenter based the theme song to Halloween off of Goblin's theme song from Argento's Deep Red, which was in turn inspired by Tubular Bells from Friedkin's The Exorcist. Though the film takes place in Illinois, it was filmed in California, as evidenced by the trunks of palm trees seen in people's front yards. Further, though the film is set in the fall, it was filmed during springtime. Carpenter had a bunch of fake dead leaves that they would throw in the front yard of the house they were filming at. When they switched houses they would have to gather up all the fake leaves and move them!
By the way, the mask that Michael Myers wears was a William Shatner mask that they somewhat altered. Shatner has since said that he does not appreciate being referred to as "evil incarnate." The crew of the film referred to Myers as "The Shape," implying that he is, as implied in the films, a supernatural force and not a human being.
- Thirty years later and this horror classic is still as scary as ever. In the Hollywood horror genre today over-run with blood and gore, it is refreshing to take a break and return to the old school when horror films where truly (and still can be) scary. There are many devices that has made Halloween a success. Number one is Michael Myers, perhaps one of the most memorable horror villains of all time. There is no motive for his actions. He seems to kill without cause - an emotion-less villain who has never spoken a word almost his entire life. One moment he appears out of nowhere, glaring from a distance, and the next moment, he's gone. No matter how fast his victims run, Michael is always right behind, ready to make the kill, stabbing his victims with his trademark kitchen knife.
Audio is one of the most important elements that can determine the success of a horror film, and above all else, John Carpenter's Halloween theme sets the tone all too well. Even at the opening credits the theme begins, instantly placing the viewer into a creepy horror state of mind. Slight variations of this simple theme are constant throughout the film, adding tension and suspense, and progressing scenes along nicely that might have seemed longer otherwise.
The usual weak dialouge and acting are certainly present here, as in most horror films, but I can't say it takes away from the fun, as it is to be expected (especially from a film made 30 years ago). Jamie Lee Curis does a memorable enough performance as her charcater Laurie, the babysitter who Michael has targeted on Halloween. Donal Pleasance does a decent job as Dr. Loomis, a man who basically becomes obsessed (and has every right to) on taking down Michael Myers. The remainder of the cast is unimpressive, but serve up well as Michael's victims.
Halloween has spawned off 7 sequals and even a recent remake. Though they don't match up to this original, it says enough that Halloween has become a popular sucess. I wish I could say for a movie that is 30 years old, it might be difficult for first time viewers today to appreciate, but the fact remains that this is from a different era of horror, a time when good horror films presented us with "less is more" Halloween is the perfect demonstration. There is less blood, less gore, less violence, and we know almost nothing of Michael's background, and the end result can be truly scary when we are not given details and must deal with the unknown.
Acting - 2.5
Characters - 4
Horror - 4.5
Music - 5
Story - 4
Overall - 4.5
- I grew up with this film in its various incarnations on home video. And, yes, i probably own it in practically every format. But this version really packs a punch. It is really spectacular to see the crisp images from such a gritty film. You would never know this movie is now 30 years old by the Blu-ray transfer. The only element that was somewhat disappointing is that I noticed the audio dropping out occasionally, probably due to imperfections from the original mono source. Otherwise, you will find new details in this film that you never noticed before on this great hi-def version!!!
- You cant beat the original Halloween! It is fantastic, has a wonderful theme song that gets stuck in your head! Watch this classic horror film with Jamie Lee Curtis in it!
- Guess, I'll finally weigh in on this one. Halloween is a perfect product of it's time and the fact that it was actually scary allows it to continue to live on all these years later. The cast is perfectly awkward, the scares numerous, the soundtrack exceptional, and the nostalgia brilliant. Every year, after we've killed -- er, I mean fed --the last trick-or-treaters, we settle in for this fabulous, low-budget gem. It deserves it's status among fright films.

5 comments about Hell House.
- Every Halloween at the Trinity Church near Dallas, Texas a Pentecostal youth group and their adult leaders build Hell House. The goal of this infamous haunted house is to scare people, especially kids, into turning away from their "evil" secular lifestyle and joining the church. Inside Hell House young actors play characters like "Abortion Girl", "Suicide Girl" and "Dying Of AIDS Gay Guy" as examples of the sorts of sins that will send you to eternal suffering and damnation in the fiery pits of Hell.
One aspect of this documentary that I appreciated was it's objectivity. I imagine that the church members insisted that they be allowed to speak for themselves and express their beliefs. The director wisely consented, as I'm sure he realized that the words of these extremists would be more damning than any method of satire or ridicule he could create on his own. And believe me these hellfire and brimstone lunatics don't disappoint in their hypocrisy and absurdity.
I expected to laugh. But my reaction was actually one more of sadness and worry. I have two nephews growing up in a Pentecostal church in Florida that probably is not too different from this one. My nephews are smart kids and hopefully once they become older they will begin to think for themselves and get away from the brainwashing my idiotic ex-sister in law and her ridiculous church is forcing on them.
I also felt bad for the kids in this movie, taught to believe that the world is inherently evil and that the impending return of Christ is their only hope. The violence, bigotry and lies in Hell House were bad enough. But the worse part was the final room where they force everyone to wait before exiting while they try to pressure them into joining the church. Think of the public outcry if some group of Muslim extremists, who have very similar notions of Hell, were to try to gain youthful converts through methods such as this. But I guess if they are Christians it's considered OK.
It's hard to imagine any religous teachings that are further away than these from the essential Christian message of love and mercy. But in Hell House fear and punishment are what it's all about.
- I was expecting the same type of foamy fundy type behavior that was so prevalent in Jesus Camp, but the group in Hell House came across as much more sane and sedate. There was some of the 'speaking in tongues' stuff but I didn't see anyone twitching on the floor (thank goodness), and in their interviews the kids and the adults both came across as thoughtful, bright and passionate without being so over-the-top.
I was particularly impressed by a father we meet about ten minutes into the film. His daughter is trying out for the Hell House abortion scene and we see her and her three other siblings getting ready for school. You immediately sense something is different about this family because instead of mom cooking breakfast and hurrying the children along, their father is doing it. Turns out he and his wife split up because she was seeing someone she met on the internet and he not only has custody of his children, he is raising them by himself. One of the children has epilepsy and goes into a seizure at the table, and this father carries him to a comfortable room and talks (also prays) the little guy out of it while they wait for the ambulance to arrive. It's a very powerful and emotional scene, and this man is so gentle and loving with his children it just really pulls at your heart. Later on the father decides to try out for a scene himself and he and his daughter both end up with good roles.
I've been very outspokenly against the whole concept of spiritually terrorizing kids at Halloween, and I still don't agree with terrifying children for the sake of proselytizing but I have to admit there's a lot of good intentions behind it. I don't think there's a drop of malice or evil intent in these people whatsoever, but I do question the wisdom of allowing children to see some of the scenes because they are so incredibly graphic. People dying of AIDS in a hospital room, a horrific car wreck, a girl laid out on a hospital bed bleeding to death after a botched abortion. It was so realistic and frightening there's no way I'd ever let my little ones see it.
The two scenes that got to me the most were the hospital scenes involving the AIDS patient and the post-abortion girl. It gives the wrong impression; that it's mainly gay people who get AIDS and it's their own fault. The setting and other aspects of the scene are quite realistically rendered, however, and I can see why people would be terrified by it.
The botched abortion scene is even more graphic. A teen girl is wheeled in on a gurney, her crotch, legs and the bedding under her literally soaked in blood. The set people really know their stuff; it looked frighteningly real. And wet. The artificial blood was pooling under her. Very graphic. The site of it is shocking and intense. The worst part of it that while this girl is lying there crying and screaming in pain there's a rubber-masked, black-robed demon standing behind the bed yelling at her that she's a murderer and she deserves to suffer for killing her baby. I wasn't even there and it got to me, I can only imagine how horrifying this would be to an elementary or middle-school aged child. Scary to some adults, even.
Oddly, no one complained save for a small group of kids who were so upset by the scene involving the gay kid in the hospital they confronted one of the adults. One of them was swearing and flipping the bird while yelling at the man about bigotry. I understood the upset but it could have been handled a bit more diplomatically. That better than any other part of the film showed the emotional and psychological impact the production has on people.
Still, I couldn't help but giggle at their 'occult props', one of which was a black board with what they no doubt thought was a pentagram, which was actually a red star of david painted inside a circle. There was an underlying sense of camp to the Hell House, and I could easily imagine my son and I and I going in and being impressed by the more realistic things, then watching the occult scenes and just laughing our butts off. I mean, arms around each other's shoulders for support, leaning, tears of mirth streaming down our faces, breathless laughter. You get these awful images of bloody bodies, hospitals and tormented people followed by the most poorly informed and campily-staged scenes of satanism and/or witchcraft imaginable. Hilarious!!
I found that while watching the film I experienced a strange mix of emotions ranging from hilarity to horror. It's definitely an objective look at something a lot of us are not involved in and it leaves you emotionally drained, to be sure, but you don't (at least I didn't) get the sense that these people are wackos like the 'Jesus Camp' group. They're sincere and very, very serious about what they're doing. Their passion is inspiring, even if they aren't exactly well-informed. I also liked the noticeable absence of input from the director. He didn't narrate, he didn't make an appearance, he didn't do anything but film what was being done and put up a camera for the individual church members to record their video diaries. The editing was sparse but tight and you get a sense of who these people are without the intrusion of a lot of special effects or negative commentary. I like this approach; it says, 'this is the way things are, take it or leave it'.
Overall it's an excellent documentary, and a fascinating look into a belief system some of us haven't been exposed to, and others among us (like myself) are glad to have left behind. I'm looking forward to watching it again.
- I found this documenary downright fascinating and the only reason why I didn't give it five stars is because there's a limit to how highly I'll rate a documentary that falls into the "edited together raw footage" category.
However, this was done about as well as I could have ever expected. The footage was edited together skillfully in a way that told the story of one group of Christians in a church out there in the Bible best desperately trying to warn young adults about the consequences of certain decisions.
I appreciated the fact that, unlike "Jesus Camp", the footage wasn't accompanied by weird ominous music in an attempt to make the viewer think that these people are just a bunch of wingnuts. If you as a viewer want to think that, fine, but it won't be because you were manipulated into thinking that.
In fact, this docmentary let the subjects tell their own story. These are real people on a mission to help others. One may question their tactics, but I won't question their sincerety or their ability to organize and work as a team. And, a few of them are really quite good actors too!
- Really. There is something wrong with the notion that religion needs a hell or there would be no good reason to go to heaven. A compelling and objective work. This DVD is a must see.
- This documentary is boring and extremely depressing. I was falling asleep through 2/3 of it. I had been looking forward to this documentary because the description sounded interesting. The subject itself, the idea itself, was fascinating: Hell House where they showcase real life tragedies instead of ghosts and goblins, all in the spirit of religion?! Why not? I was really to launch my liberal idealistic arguments into a fight with this movie. But, instead, I almost fell asleep and my liberal values went to sleep also.
The documentary is completely unbiased, it simply lays out these people's project and how they come about it (with excessive detail). There documentary does not try to steer you into any direction, which I appreciate, but the excessive detail as to pre-production was too boring. The documentary showed everything from the building of the hell house to auditions (Yay! I am the suicide girl, or I am the abortion girl! ....Sickening) to the through process behind it all. But, finally we get to the end, which was very interesting.
In my own personal opinion, this is a bit wrong. They are carrying out an ultra conservative message from being gay is evil and you will get AIDS, or if you go to a rave, take drugs and get raped, it is all your fault. The liberal in me was a bit upset that they would present a situation in which a young girl, who was raped by her father, and other people at a rave, and obviously not in her right state of mind, will go to hell because she committed suicide. The documentary will make you think, even if you have to suit through the very boring first half.

Using a 13" tv as the video suggests leaves the image too small to view once set up. A flat screen 19" or 25" is required to have the image appear life-size.
I own all three dvd's in this series and the result and description above is true for all of them.

- Well, this movie is a low budget film, BUT it has some gore, good kills, a funny twist, and some good Halloween fun in it. I've seen some BAD movies and this wasn't that bad at all. I actually liked it. It made me laugh, say ewwwww, and surprised me too. It's certainly worth the 5.00 price tag here. I was amused and pretty pleased. Then again, I REALLY have a thing for Halloween.
- Satan's "costume" or make up didn't look realistic. I was a little disappointed because I don't like movies in which people kill other people. I prefer to see supernatural forces doing all the destruction. Only watch this movie if you have run out of movies to watch and you don't feel like reading a book or going out.
- Don't be misled by the DVD cover design. This isn't one of those "horrid" horror films, it is a bright, funny, charming and finely made horror film with all the classical horror story attributes of fun and art. It is colourful and atmospheric and unusually for these days all the characters are sympathetic, while the killer loses none of his ogre value in being funny. I've only seen this once, but I am certain this is a fine film that must become a Halloween classic. It excels in Halloween imagery. Like other good horror films it has a satirical theme underlying it, in this case that of the wrong type of video games drawing children into violence and personal disaster. Wholesome in every sense I think, hence the five stars.
- I would have preferred it without the cat scene, so three stars instead of four for that alone. Otherwise a very effective movie for Halloween, and even though I prefer them without humour, with this one, the humour worked and really was funny. Mainly because of the kid, (Satan's little helper) a nerdy, geeky little kid, extremely credulous, obsessed with the computer game entitled "Satan's Little Helper", to the extent that he totally confused fantasy with reality. He was hilarious in believing that firstly, 'Satan' (killer in groovy mask) really was: Satan, and secondly, believing that killer in Jesus mask really was: God, and thirdly, believing that killer in cop mask and outfit really was a cop, in spite of all evidence to the contrary. His conversations with 'Satan', 'God', and then the cop, were the most effectively humorous points in the movie. "Are you Satan?" "Are you God?" And all they had to do was nod, without ever speaking a word. Classic!
I loved the Satan mask and outfit, so cool, if only people dressed up like that for Halloween everywhere and wandered around in the shops getting provisions and carrying a shopping basket, so funny! To be honest, I'd have preferred a Halloween movie utilising all the effective costumes and sets that this movie had, but without the humour, but at least here, it worked. Not the most wonderful thing I've ever seen, but not bad either. It's certainly a great movie for Halloween.
- I caught this flick on TV last night and I was quite intrigued. Well, curiosity killed THIS cat because this movie SUCKED! It started out promising but by the end of the movie I had a huge headache thanks to the boring plot, really slow pacing, and the implausible story. Who knew a serial killer movie could be such a snooze? Rent the original Halloween and leave this one in the DVD dust bin.
