5 comments about The Pagan Invasion: Halloween-Trick Or Treat.
- I have been a Christian for seven years and I have struggled with this issue about Halloween. I could not decide whether it was bad or good and if I should allow my children to celebrate it. The first year I let my children go out trick or treating and didn't think anything of it. As I began attending church I found that out that they did not think that children should go out trick or treating, but instead they had an alternative for them. They could come out to the church and dress up in a safe and fun environment but they were not allowed to dress in scary costumes. I went along with it. But I still wasn't sure. I still let the kids dress up for the school Halloween party. One year after the party I took them to the mall because the merchants were all giving out candies to children who were dressed up.
I didn't want to deprive my children of this fun celebration. Eventually I grew closer to God and began digging into His word to find out if Halloween was okay or not. I could not find anything in the Bible that suggest that He approves of it. In fact I believe that I found more evidence that suggested that He did not approve and was total against it. See the links below to read about the truth about about Halloween and what God thinks of it.I saw a video called "Halloween Trick or Treat" that gave me some insight to what the celebration is really about. Then I began searching the Internet for the history of Halloween and I was shocked at the results I found. I decided that I would stand up for God and for what I believe and share it with everyone who wants to know the truth about Halloween.
- Well when I first seen this viedo I cried because it broght back a flood of chidhood memories, Memories I have long sence tried to forget. This viedo, along with other help has helped me move forward from the evil I do so remember. Please don't think this viedo a mere joke nor incorrect in its findings. This evening in which one plays with is not fun for many. Think about it.
- Okay, I give this video a 3 star rating for two reasons, the first being, that it is absolutley hysterical in its horrid comparissons and desperarte attempts at linking Halloween to satanism, or to a lesser extent, betraying Gods word. It gets the 3 star because where it excells in gut wrenching humour by accident, it is actually meant to be serious, trying to prove a point of Halloween's "rooted evil;" stars off there folks, sorry. Maybe if the people researching and reviewing this evil, black mass of a holiday known as Halloween took 3 seconds to look beyond their "fact laiden" bible, they could have maybe researched the actual history of the holiday. There is no satanic connection to Halloween either currently or in the past, and if someone tied satanism to it, that was by choice. And since were talking history, didn't the Christians have a corgial understanding with the Nazi party? Yeah i think that was the catholic church in fact, but hey who needs history? Apparently not the christians. My final words on halloween are this, there is no evil present when a father takes his daughter house to house getting candy while grandparents take pictures; the Nestle candy company may be be greedy, but i dont see pentagrams on their chocolate bars (...)
- I have not seen the video but I read the reveiws and I just wanted to respond to the comment you made about Christians involvement with the Nazis. It was not Bible believing Christians but the Catholic religion that was involved with the Nazi party. Despite what many people think, the Catholic church is not Christian by any means. The Bible teaches that you are saved by grace through faith and not by works. Ephesians 2:8-9: Titus 3:5. To earn Heaven we would have to be absolutely perfect but we are not. Thats why Jesus came and died on the cross and rose again. So that we can be saved by faith in Him because we cannot earn salvation. The Bible teaches that we are saved by turning from our sin and turning to the Lord Jesus Christ in faith. Good works come after because the Holy Spirit lives within you and you have a new desire to serve the Lord after you are saved or born again (a spiritual rebith
). The Catholic religion teaches that you do all the "good works" you can and then you will die and go to purgatory (a man made doctrine) where you hope that someone will pray you out. There is no securety of eternal life in Catholicism but in The Bible (God's Holy Word) we find that we can KNOW that we have eternal life if we believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13. The Catholic religion is not Christian. They preach a different Gospel than the Bible.
The Catholic church was not the first church. Catholicism was started when Constintine braught paganism and Christianity together. The new testiment church was around long before Catholicism. The new testiment church has always been around called by many names (novations, Paulicians, Dontanists) and are called Baptist today. Even many Baptists broke away from the Bible and thats why there are so many different groups who still use that name but dont represent biblical Christianity. Altimately it doesnt matter what denomination you are. What matters is, Do you know where your going when you die? You can know for sure. After you get saved you find a Bible believing church that magnifies the Name of Jesus Christ and the word of God.
- Too many people, Christians included, take things lightly just because they've always been set aside for fun and for kids. Halloween is a very important holiday for those who are deeply into witchcraft, wicca or satanism and they take it very seriously.
The testimonials offered in this video by the former satanists are the most powerful part of its content, in my opinion. The simple fact that children are dedicated to the practice of stanism at an early age and before they are able to make a choice for themselves is sad, but all too true.
Sacrifices and rituals that involve the rape, torture and murder of innocent ones who are born into families that believe they will receive power from their god, satan, through these sacrifices are performed or offered on this holiday and anyone who participates in the simple childish cover for it is in full support of the activities on the darkest, most secret sides of it.
It is a typical ploy of any sect of society that is in obvious violation of what is good and right legally and morally, but still want to be accepted broadly by those who refuse to be educated on the underlying cause and meanings of it. Most efforts to mask these things are directed at children since parents will feel guilty and be embarrassed if they "deny" their little ones the fun and games of trick or treat and the other facets of the halloween celebration.
This is a good video and the only complaint that I'd offer is that it is a bit dated in both music and graphic presentation. The information is good and more testimonials from former satanists on the true occurances of the halloween eve celebration would add to its credibility and impact.

5 comments about Hellbent.
- Okay, the first time I watched Hellbent I wasn't totally sold on it but when I saw it again I really liked it a lot. One of the best parts is that it takes a normal Slasher-film formula and gives it the gay theme. I've oftne commented to my friends how gay people never appear in Horror films and now there's an entire movie of them. It was really cool to see how just guys dealt with a psycho slasher as opposed to the iconic top heavy blonde bombshells who always have to run upstairs or out into the woods in heels (who the hell does that?). The other great thing was the killer. (Spoiler alert)-You never find out the killer's motive. How cool is that! It makes him even more terrifying because you can't humanize him. He is really just this psycho out for blood for no other reason than because he likes to do it. That's what horror is all about. The boogie man that comes for you just because he can...and he does.
- Beautiful eye candy. Nice twists. Not the best acting you've seen, but keeps you on the edge of your seat. Somewhat gruesome, but again, not the grossest.
- Decent production values, some fun gore, handsome guys but little beyond that. There is no background, no history, no big reveal of the killer. Without a preset motive or potential villians, it's just a bunch of pretty boys taking turns being beheaded. Whatever.
- "Hellbent" is a nifty little thriller with a good personality. It does what it is supposed to do--chills and thrills--and still manages to make its small cast of characters endearing before subjecting them to the razor sharp sickle of a stalker in a devil costume. Set amidst the sexually charged, funky glamor of the annual Halloween Carnival in tres gay West Hollywood, the film has been touted as the first gay slasher movie. I don't know if that's true, or if there has been a general outcry over gays being underrepresented in filmdom's slasher genre, but whatever the case, "Hellbent" is here, and it's done with a certain amount of flair. Director Paul Etheredge-Ouzts knows how to wring a maximum amount of tension from a scene, and he brings a sense of visual excitement to the film, in spite of the occasional clunky dialogue and plot contrivances necessary for any slasher film (i.e., getting characters to go off into dark, isolated areas when they know that there's a murderer on the loose). To be sure, the killer's targets, four friends out for a Halloween night on the town, are not rocket scientists, but each has his own set of quirks and foibles that separate one character from the other, and each one is likeable.
Dylan Fergus makes a handsome, appealing lead, a wannabe cop with one glass eye and the other eye on heartfelt romance; he's a sweet-natured, virginal dreamer, about as far from a tough guy as you can imagine. Andrew Levitas is also convincing as the wild, anything-goes, best friend whose motto seems to be "anyone, anyplace, anytime". Whether it's male or female, he's on it, and he's always ready for action. Hank Harris, playing the naive youngster of the bunch, and Matt Phillips, as a muscular underwear model doing drag for the first time, do nice turns rounding out the group, while Bryan Kirkwood alternates between creepy/sexy and outright annoying as an edgy biker being wooed by our hero.
True, "Hellbent" is bloody, although not egregiously so. Compared to any of the films in the "Saw" franchise, for instance, it's pretty tame. There's one murder committed on a crowded dance floor that is particularly creative and stylishly filmed--it belies the film's budgetary restrictions. The climax of "Hellbent", which finds one of the friends handcuffed to a bed (courtesy of edgy biker-boy) while the killer lurks nearby is effective and scary, even if it is predictable. And the film's final shot is set up so that you don't know whether to laugh or scream.
There have been worse slasher films than "Hellbent", and there have been better. But, there hasn't been a better gay slasher film, so I guess that's saying something. If you're weary of the endlessly cliched and tired parade of gay coming-of-age films, and those god-awful gay "comedies" that have been churned out in recent years ("Slutty Summer", "Another Gay Movie"), then you might want to check out "Hellbent".
- It's been a while since I watched this movie. I had watched it with a friend of mine and I really enjoyed it. I love scary movies and gory ones, too! This one is not really gory but it is scary. You never know what is going to happen next. Anyway, I had to have it for my collection. I liked it very much so I bought it. I buy movies that I like.

2 comments about Playboy: Hef's Halloween Spooktacular.
- Let's see... Elvira hosting Hugh Hefner's annual Halloween Bash. Not exactly what I expect from Elvira, Hugh Hefner or Playboy. The fact is... the DVD is really BETTER than the sum of it's parts. First of all, it's NOT a sex video (although there IS some nudity, of course). It's a genuine documentary that covers - and UNcovers - everything you'd ever want to know about the biggest Playboy party of the year. It seems Hef (as his good friends know to call him) has loved Halloween ever since childhood. It was then that the future publisher from Chicago received a letter from his hero, Boris Karloff, and started a childhood "gang" called the "Shudder Club." Hef even did his own monster comics and horror flicks -- some of which are shown here. Years later, Hef decided to combine his love for Halloween (and beautiful women) and throw the biggest, spookiest Halloween bash EVER. For this he recruited his good friend - and fellow monster flick-enthusiast - Rich Correll (a former "Leave it to Beaver" kid actor who grew up to become a big TV director). With the help of a horror effects company called "Scare Factory", Correll and an army of artists, artisans and underemployed actors build and staff everything from monster mazes and Scarecrow bogs. The visual quality is very impressive, as the footage was actually shot in HD for an earlier broadcast on the ill-fated "Monsters HD" satellite network. Elvira's host-wraps are GORGEOUS, too. (So is she, by the way!) Overall the production, editing and sound are first rate. Fans of the hit reality show will enjoy seeing "The Girls Next Door" (Holly, Bridget and Kendra) in all their "themed" splendor. My only complaint is the overall length (one full hour) and the lack of "bonus extras". (The complete version of Hef's boyhood monster flick would have been fun, etc.) Oh, well... Let's face it. Most of us will never get in to parties like this. At least we can DREAM.
- This dvd shows not only what you'd expect to see at the Playboy Mansion on Halloween but also how much hard work goes into the planning, putting together and pulling-off of the biggest, best Halloween party in the country. It really is a behind-the-scenes look at one of our most famous icons, his home and his "playground".

- If you are a fan of Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of The Dark, this movie is for you! I am nearly 40 years old, and I had a ball watching this movie. Don't expect a deep plot, just some spooky fun! Silly scares are the best kind, and this one delivers. Also try the Halloweentown series or Disney's Tower of Terror dvd.
- I've seen some really awful kids' halloween programs but you could tolerate them as "cute" - this movie has NO REASON to be released, acted in, or even on this planet. It STUNK! The acting was beyond horrible and the adults in the movie should be institutionalized. Please don't purchase. It belongs in the trash!

- THIS IS LIKE A MAJOR HALLOWEEN RIP OFF MIXED WITH ALL THE CORNY CHEESY B MOVIE SLASHER FLICKS. IT'S MORE OF A SUPERNATURAL MOVIE THEN A SLASHER FLICK. THIS IS A WONDERFUL POPCORN CHEESE MOVIE. NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG, IT'S NOT GREAT, FAR FROM BEING GREAT, WHAT IT IS, IS ONE OF THOSE MOVIES YOU HAVE A BOWL OF POPCORN AND YOU HAVE TIME TO SPARE TO LAUGH, TO SAY WHAT THE HELL, OR BETTER YET A FUN MOVIE TO WATCH ON HALLOWEEN.
THIS KILLER HAS AN AWESOME MASK, KIND OF LIKE A MELTING PUMPKIN. THE EDITING IS REALLY BAD, THE ACTING IS NOT DEADLY BUT STILL IS NOT ALL THERE. THE KILLER IS OFTEN NOT SCARY BUT JUST BEING PUSHED AROUND. SO WHY DO I LIKE IT. BECAUSE ITS A FUN CORNY B MOVIE WITH A BUNCH OF DORKY KIDS AT A HALLOWEEN PARTY ON A FARM, WAIT A SECOND IS NOT THAT HALLOWEEN 5, ANYWHO, IT'S JUST A CORNY FUN MOVIE TO KILL SOME TIME, LAUGH, DRINK, WHATEVER.
CLASSIC HALLOWEEN OPENING, KIDS TRICK OR TREATING, A PRANK GONE WRONG, AND THEN YOU FLASH TO A YEAR LATER. THIS REALLY HAD A SOMEWHAT GOOD PLOT AND COULD HAD BEEN A REALLY GOOD SLASHER FILM TO REMEMBER BUT WITH THE LOW BUDGET AND AT TIME'S RUSHED AND ALSO AT TIMES DRAWN OUT FILMING, IT JUST DID NOT HAVE WHAT IT NEEDED TO BE A GREAT SLASHER.
IT DOES HAVE ALL THE THINGS YOU WOULD EXPECT IN A SLASHER. THE KID HAUNTED BY HIS PAST. SEX, BEER, TWO DORKY CLASS CLOWNS, BAD MUSIC, BAD JOKES AND A BUNCH OF DORKY KIDS OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE.
ONE PART OF THIS MOVIE JUST MAKES ME LAUGH AND SAYS OH MY GOD WHAT. REMEMBER THE DEATH OF ROSE MCGOWEN IN SCREAM IN THE GARAGE, WELL THEY RIP OFF FROM THAT BIG TIME EVEN DOWN TO THE WORDS, WHERE AS ROSE SAYS OH MISTER GHOST FACE, THIS ONE SAYS OH MISTER PUMPKIN FACE. THIS MOVIE IS JUST A LAME CORNY TREAT FOR THE EYES AND FOR THOSE THAT LIKE A LITTLE EXTRA BLOOD.
IF YOUR A CHEESY LAME B MOVIE FAN LIKE I AM, THEN THIS IS A TREAT. IF YOUR NOT, THIS MOVIE SUCKS.
- OK, this wasn't a 100% fantastic movie but I enjoy Halloween based horror movies/slashers and this was actually pretty good. It had a decent amount of action and the cinematography wasn't bad AT ALL. It had fair acting and some very different style kills. The ending was a little odd but I find myself saying that about a lot of films nowadays. I think this would make a good movie for a rainy weekend night, especially Halloween night ;). I'd also like to add, this is NOT one of those homemade quality movie. I've seen so many of those floating around lately, I am SO SICK of it. I guess that's what made this film a bit more refreshing, it was good quality rather than that grainy, shakey, homemade movie style. Enjoy!
- If you like watching young adults having sex, this is the film for you. Honestly, it was so bad I turned it off. No plot, no reason why the young man is "haunted" by an unknown pumpkin creature/man, no background is given on the pumpkin creature/man, unless of course it comes later in the movie ... don't bother adding this movie to your collection ... it's not worth a second watch.
- This film had some truly wonderful, evocative settings for a Halloween movie, just right, but, some of the most annoying, and unappealing and unattractive young people ever to be seen in a horror movie! Witness the stupid manic behaviour and bug-eating activities, boring and silly, and far too long spent on that rubbish when it really wasn't necessary, and ruined what was otherwise a very effective movie for Halloween.
If they had made more of the creepy settings and effects and less of the crap, this movie could have got five stars. It's still well worth seeing, just fast forward past the braindead behaviour of the boring losers whenever they get stuck into a scene if they bore you as much as they did me. An opportunity to make a really effective and eerie movie with such wonderful Halloween atmosphere of the setting and wasted on tired old lunacy and tedious characters who you couldn't care less about! They should have concentrated on the main characters and the unpleasant and menacing old man, and kept the stupid attempts at playing it for laughs out of it.
- For the movie itself, I give 2 stars at best. It is not particularly scary, the plot is very sub-par, and most of the acting is just God-awful. With that said, there are three saving graces: a creepy old man who takes an absurd amount of pride in his ability carve pumpkins, and the two greatest frat/party guy characters I have ever seen in any horror movie: Bonedaddy and Spinner. Their names alone are great enough to rank them highly in ths category, but from the very outset they make it clear they are only interested in booze, drugs, and maybe sex (although they may prefer each other to any female characters in the movie). These two are a constant source of intentional and un-intentional humor, and Bonedaddy's death is one of the greatest I've seen in a horror movie. He is beheaded while taking a drunken piss, and ends up pissing in his own mouth. Spinner's escape leads me to believe that perhaps the directors will make the greatest decision of their lives and make The Pumpkin Karver 2: Spinner's Revenge, full of partying and Bonedaddy-revering.

5 comments about Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktakular.
- This is a such a creative and different take on the idea of Halloween. You have your typical bully with a witch, skeleton, monster, vampires, and a werewolf to help set the mood. That is where the normal idea of Halloween ends because then this delightful story twists any sort of typical Halloween ideal and sends it off in a whole new fun direction. Jimmy is the older cousin who doesn't feel like being saddled with is younger cousin Hannah on Halloween. With three friends he decides to send his younger cousin screaming home by sending her into the Spook House. Before the night is over Hannah learns that monsters aren't necessarily the ones who look like them. Jimmy will learn a lesson as well and all of this is picked up in the second movie. The whole thing is fun romp that should be enjoyable for people of all ages. Anyone familiar with Jill Thompson's work is going to love this!
- My 4 year old son LOVED this movie. I think it's easily the most creative kid's film I've seen. It's lots of fun and I highly reccomend it. It's even got some fun little touches for adults such as a wolf in sheep's clothing and a skeleton in the closet. ;)
- I went on a search for this movie as well as its sequal after my 3 yr old daughter watched them last year during the ABC family 13 days of Halloween. I originally DVR or TiVo the movies. I ended up watching those movies over and over again until I had to erase them in December to make room for the christmas theme movies. The movie is a cute halloween movie that can be enjoyed as a family. There is a cute plot in which the movie can be used as a learning lesson for children. It was a relief to find a movie that is kid friendly and my children can watch.
- Our daughter is not scared of anything, and she just loves these Scary Godmother movies. We bought both of them, because she wanted to watch them everyday and I accidentally deleted one from out DVR!!! Oh NO! She likes that the kids get over being scared of the "monsters" because they are fun and friendly monsters. Just like Monsters Inc. it helps kids realize that things aren't always as they seem! The CG images are terrific and the storyline is cute and nothing a mom should worry about. There aren't a lot of kid-friendly Halloween shows, but this one is okay for even the little ones. The mean kid in the end learns his lesson!
- The link says " by Britney Irvin, not sure why, she didn't write this, Jill Thompson did, a great comic book artist who just happens to be kid friendly. Britney Irvin was the little kid who played Hanna Marie and she is really cute. Highlights in this are Scot Macneil's skeleton in the closet and my very great favorite Gary Chalk's highly educated always starving werewolf. And Tabitha St. Germain who voices Scary Godmother, is one of the finest weird people in the world. If phsyics would allow it, I'd want her to be my godmother. The animation is great.
good solid 7-10 year old halloween fun

- This was very enjoyable for the whole family and I was so
glad to find it on Amazon and order it....it arrived the
date promised and we are still enjoying it often...
- Great story, great animation, great presentation. Monster House is the type of animation that draws you in so much that it does not feel like an animated film. I am surprised they didn't attempt to make this a live action movie. Style very reminiscent of The Goonies. I love the reviews who complain the movie is "too much for those under 13"...funny, the MPAA has a rating system...it is rated PG. On the same note, the movie has some deep and creepy undertones. Again, no more so than some of the great "young adult" movies that exist. This movie is a definite recommendation. Not as fast paced as most of the animated fare out there...that's because this one actually makes you think and care about the characters. Four solid stars!
- This dvd was full of things not suitable for children. There were kids drinking and asking about getting a beer. Vague refrences about one child's parent having an afair. This could have been a decent movie, instead hollywood needed to make it edgy so people would think it's great. It was a disapointment.
- I just watched it last night. "Old man Nebbercracker"is a spooky old man - at first. Every body's got a monster house in their neighborhood!
- Beware of the innocent-looking cover on the DVD case. This animated movie has some pretty scary moments in it that might be too scary for younger children.
As for the story itself, DJ's parents have just went away for a few days, leaving DJ in the care of Elizabeth, or "Z" as she prefers to be called. Z is not your typical teenage girl; she's into the Goth scene and has a boyfriend named Bones. But these are the least of DJ's problems. He's more concerned about the strange man across the street who lives in a dilapidated old house. Objects are mysteriously disappearing from the front yard, and old man Nebbercracker is constantly warning kids to stay away. DJ's best friend Chowder even loses his new basketball on the lawn. What can be causing all of these strange occurances?
The answer is soon revealed as Jenny, a young girl selling candy, knocks on DJ's door. After being turned down by DJ, she goes across the street to Nebbercracker's house. But the house itself mysteriously comes to life and tries to suck Jenny in. Jenny soon joins up with DJ and Chowder to try to discover what's going on in the house. However, the police foil their attempt to get inside. They are placed in the police car to be taken away when the house comes alive and sucks the car with the children inside. Now that they have managed to get inside, will they be able to get back out again?
I found this movie to be somewhat scarier than I expected. Even though the film is animated, there are some genuinely scary parts that may not be suitable for young children. Also, there are some questionable scenes, such as Bones and Z making out a little on the sofa, and Chowder talking about drinking beer. Finally, there's the classic pee in the soda bottle scene.
Overall, I did find this movie to be pretty good. I liked the storyline of the house coming to life, and the animation is very good. However, I would just caution parents with young children to make sure that they view the movie together. My five-year-old daughter was very scared for most of the movie, and she watched it with us plus her older brother and sister. So, watch this movie with care if there are young children present.

- Another one of my friends got this for me as a gift. Again, I was giddy with delight (they all know me so well)! While I thought it odd that Disney would reproduce something that was fairly dark, it was so great to see this movie again, as I hadn't seen it in years. The remaster was wonderful as the colors were more vibrant. I especially loved all the bonus features like Frankenweenie, Vincent and The storyboard to film comparison. I thought the cost was high at first, but when I saw the 3D bust as the cover and all the extras, I realize the cost was quite fair. This is a great buy for followers of this cult classic or anything Tim Burton.
- this movie was cute, a little too scary for my kids ( under the age of 5) The item shipped to me quick and everything was great.
- This movie is THE 90s classic movie by Tim Burton! Jack and Sally are sweet and this movie is beautifully made! You would be a moron if you dont watch this and share it with the family!
- This movie is excellent, and love Tim Burton's film. Great movie for kids and adults, very educational. Animation is awesome and very realistic. Would recommend for the entire family.
- This is a fabulous movie, so it is gratifying to see an edition that provides a full menu of features to compliment the film. Filled with behind-the-scenes features and extras, plus a digital disc and a fabulous edition of the movie itself.
