1 comments about On That Easter Morning.
- Here is a picture book for older children that retells the biblical Easter story. It's beautiful pictures have a gentle feel, even when dealing with harsh parts of the story. Starting with Palm Sunday, it goes on to tell of Jesus driving out the money changers, washing the feet of his disciples, sharing the Last Supper with them, and then of his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane. We read of the trial that convicted Jesus, the crucifixion, and then of his body being laid in a tomb by those who loved him. The gentle joy of Easter morning, that builds more and more as the good news is spread, is depicted in soft colors, and art that has delightful elements of both realistic and folk art. This story is nicely done, a lovely way to enjoy the Easter story. I love the ending sentiment: "The dark power of death was defeated. God's own love lit the world on that Easter morning."

2 comments about Little Colt's Palm Sunday.
- I saw this book at the bookstore and had to pick it up. My husband teaches 2nd grade religious class and I teach 7th and 8th. We are always looking for things to bring Jesus to life for our students. When i read this story it really made the beautiful story of Palm Sunday to life for young children. It is told from the point of view of the donkey that Jesus rode into town on and how privledged he felt to have the opportunity to meet and serve Jesus. The same way we should all feel when serving the Lord. The illustrations are also very beautiful and help bring the story to life. A very enjoyable and beautiful book.
- What a beautiful and creative way of telling children about Palm Sunday! Although my child is still too young to fully understand this story (She's one.), I'm thrilled to have it on the shelf so that when she is ready we can read it together. I'm always on the lookout for books that communicate the Gospel in a compelling and creative way. This book does it. The illustrations are superbe too.

1 comments about The Great Easter Egg Hunt.
- Young Tommy awakes on Easter morning to find that his clever Aunt Jeanne is leading him on another one of her holiday-themed journeys. This one, however, leaves Tommy following a white rabbit in a pink vest through an Easter wonderland. Throughout Tommy's adventure, he meets up with a 10-foot-tall chocolate rabbit, encounters an egg factory, is introduced to a noisy jelly bean machine, and even attends an Easter Parade down Fifth Avenue. One that features many things that don't belong, such as Santa Claus, and a leprechaun. But it's not until Tommy makes it to the egg-shaped palace of the Great Easter Bunny that he is reunited with his beloved Aunt Jeanne.
Michael Garland is not only a talented artist, but wonderful at creating a holiday-themed I SPY-esque book that will keep young readers occupied for hours upon hours as they search for various hidden pictures. Tommy is a fun character who follows an adorable white bunny - a la ALICE IN WONDERLAND - in an attempt to meet up with the Great Easter Bunny himself, as well as his aunt. Garland shows here that he is a talented prose-writer, and weaves an entertaining story that must be read over and over again. THE GREAT EASTER EGG HUNT is the perfect gift to leave in your young readers Easter basket this year.

1 comments about Our Eight Nights of Hanukkah.
- I have searched high and low for a wonderful Hanukkah story and have always felt something was missing from each one of them...they never seemed to quite hit on what I, as a Jew in Texas, feel at Hanukkah. I am sure many Jewish parents like myself have been waiting for this book....it touches all the bases: the history of Hanukkah, the foods, the presents, but also the conflict with Christmas (which has been treated in a sensitive, positive and even uplifting way in this story). Through the description of one family's eight-day holiday, the book suggests ways to celebrate and treasure each day of this holiday that makes a Jew "proud of your religion." This book also explores tzedakah, sharing, and world community and acceptance. It is truly a celebration of Hanukkah, but even more, it is a celebration of being Jewish. I know my kids--and even myself--needed to hear this as we head into the Christmas season with all it's inherent conflicts and mixed emotions (especially in Texas!!)

2 comments about Milo the Really Big Bunny.
- In Stephen Krensky's Milo The Really Big Bunny Milo just wants to be like the other bunnies, but he's the biggest bunny any bunny has ever seen and he just doesn't fit in. Plus, he's purple. Milo feels badly, until the Easter Bunny announces he needs a helper...and he's determined to be that helper, no matter what! Hilarious adventures are enhanced by zany drawings by Melissa Suber in this winner.
- This is a fun book with great illustrations. It is fairly seasonal in nature with the Easter Bunny involved. Milo, as a giant bunny, didn't feel accepted, but he learned he was a great bunny with the help of the Easter Bunny.

2 comments about Baby's First Bible Songs.
- Kids love this one. The illustrations are wonderful and bright and it contains all the most popular children's Bible songs that are easy for kids to memorize and sing. They also like to open and close the little clasp in the middle of the book. Highly recommend!
- This is a wonderfully constructed carry along book for children.
With it's own little snap and handle they can bring it with them with ease. Colorful cover and durable, this book will last a long time.
Inside we find the words to many of the bible songs children love to learn, such as, " Jesus Loves Me," and "Kum Ba Yah."
The illustrations are very colorful and flow nicely with the words.A great way to teach your little one the songs that praise their Savior.
It is a beautiful work and I highly recommend it.

2 comments about Hunter Bunny Saves Easter (Hunter Bunny, Vol. 1).
- Thank you for such a good book which teaches such good lessons.
My kids fell in love with Hunter and Clark and were instantly mesmerized by the story and the beautiful pictures. My children are five and seven years old and surprised me with their questions and comments about the obstacles each character overcame, such as being made fun of for being different. The happy ending had all of us tearing up and some of us cheering for the two "misfits" who became heroes. My daughter says "if Hunter Bunny can do it so can I". She has some special needs but like Hunter is not Handicapped by them. A very appropriate gift for any child or special person. Happy Holidays and God bless.
- Superbly written by Alexis Rae Weaver, Hunter Bunny Saves Easter is a charming picturebook colorfully illustrated by Jennifer M. Kohnke and is about a bunny and a duckling who are different from the rest of their siblings and neighbors. Hunter Bunny needs a motorized wheelchair to move about, and Clark the duckling needs glasses to see. They become friends and embark upon an adventure to help the Easter Bunny, in this remarkable story about the triumph of inner strength over external disabilities. Hunter Bunny Saves Easter is highly recommended for young readers and offers an entertaining and instructive message which will resonates with children the year-round.

5 comments about Mother Gooses Basket Full Of Rhymes: Board Book And Cassette.
- Carly Simon has done a wonderful job with this book of classic Mother Goose rhymes. The book is very colorful, which helped keep my niece's attention, and the illustations will be loved by the kids. Carly's tape of the ryhmes is pefect for children to listen too, and quite nice for Carly's "older" fans as well. This is a must for every child's collection!
- It is a whimsical and enchanting book! My 3 1/2 year old daughter requests it every night. She has memorized all the rhymes, and it is a complete delight to listen to her sing along. Thank you Carly Simon for bringing such joy to our bedtime routine!

- Not only is the accompanying tape only about 10 min in total length, but there are only about 10 rhymes in the whole book!
I bought this for my nephew as a 'starter nursery rhyme' book. My SIL likes to sing, &thought this would be good for all. After receiving, they were strangely silent about it. When I finally visited last wk, I was horrified to see how badly I'd been ripped off. I couldn't apologize enough. #1 - each little verse is sung only once. #2 - as mentioned, the tape looks like a joke. If it plays 5 whole min before it needs to be switched to other side, I'd be surprised. #3 - They could've at least made the book better, by putting each verse on it's own page w/picture, but no, it's a couple per page with one main graphic & tiny ones maybe for the other verses. Book is good for toddlers, with hard pages, but is so short, & the TAPE IS SO SHORT, that it is a total waste of time to even put in a cassette player. Was Carly desperate for a payck or did she just not care????
- Unlike a previous scathing review I think this book with music is perfect for the age of the child for which it is intended. Little minds have a limited attention span. I have purchased numerous copies for friends and relatives who have or are having children and it goes over big everytime. The only thing preventing me from granting this book 5 stars is that it is only avaliable with a cassette! How antiquated for being released in 2000. This book in in desperate need of being updated with a CD, other than that, it is perfect for the little ones.
