1. My 2 year old son loves this book. It is so expressive. Each time we read the book, my son has to kiss Dilly when she cries over losing her feather. And, he's laughing with Dilly by the end of the book.

1. This colorful book tells the story of the last week in the life of Jesus. The pictures are bright and hopeful--even the crucifixion segment is handled without being dark and graphic. I like the inclusion of children and women in the scenes. The only thing that could make it better would be more ethnic diversity in the pictures.

1. We have just about every Dora book made. So this is no exception. While I am usually very happy with all of them, I am not thrilled with this one. The story just does not flow as well as the other Dora books too. I find myself adding words or sentences where they seem to be omitted and skipping others that seem tacked on for no apparent reason. On the other hand, my daughter really enjoys the book, especially finding the eggs on each page. And it does have some matching, color recognition features, so it has some redeeming traits! Basically, I think it could be better, but if you have a little Dora fiend, she's sure to love this one too.



2. Surely you remember going on egg hunts as a child...
   
   What? You say you went on "Easter" egg hunts, but never an "egg hunt?"
   
   Sorry, but the PC police have arrived, deleting any reference to a Christian religious holiday.
   
   It is absurd, ridiculous, and offensive to delete the reference to this holiday...especially with the false use of the word in the title (after all, one would think that one would learn a bit about Dora's "EASTER" basket).
   
   Strange that this publisher doesn't seem to have a problem with using other holidays in the actual bodies of other Dora books, hmmmm?
   
   That said, our 4-year old loves it, with Daddy constantly adding the word "Easter." There is educational value to this book, on more levels than our child realizes, unfortunately.

1. Bright and colorfully illustrated by Emma Ovreman, Lisa and Lorraine Funari's The Easter Chicken tales the tale of a chicken who becomes envious of the Eater Bunny's fame. Overcome by jealousy, she hastily fires the Easter Bunny and decides that she will handle Easter by herself. But the job is too much work for just one chicken! She quickly realizes that everyone has certain talents and that working as a team is the best way to work. Two pages of text designated "Special Guest Young Author & Illustrator Section" have been specifically reserved for the express purpose of publishing the reader's own work making The Easter Chicken a truly delightful, "interactive" picturebook.



2. This is the poetic tale of a chicken, who feeling unappreciated,decides that she can do it all. For years she has laid the eggs but the bunny has gotten the glory. When confronted with the chicken's plan, the bunny offers a warning. Undaunted the chicken procedes with zeal. Illustrator, Emma Overman, has captured the chicken's emotions of pride, longing, joy and frustration. The story by Lisa Funari Willever and Lorraine Funari has been useful as I work with small groups of children who are learning the skills of team work. As a school psychologist, I often use stories to introduce an idea or a skill. The Easter Chicken, with its colorful illustrations and character building lesson has been added to my library.



3. I came upon this author's work a few months ago. Let me tell you...Uncle Tommy has scored big points giving a couple of her books as gifts to little ones (including The Easter Chicken.) The books have entertaining stories with very colorful pages that kids love. They've been very well received by the parents, too.
