- Joemy Wilson's third installment of her Christmas CD series is an interesting tour of Christmas music from around the world. The CD also includes extensive liner notes for each track that detail the history and source of the song. Play this at your next Christmas gathering!
- Joemy Wilson has put together a beautiful hammered dulcimer collection. The CD is all instrumental, and covers a choice selection of very unique Christmas music that is of a Victorian nature. The songs herein are quite different than those on _Gifts, Volume 1_ or _Gifts, Volume 3_, and it's a vibrant, non-secular collection of songs. It's very different than, say, Mannheim Steamroller, but then again, it's meant to sound traditional, not eclectic. If you're tired of _Frosty the Snowman_, this will be a staple in your collection.

- I didn't even know who Joemy Wilson was. A local Christian radio station played "Carol of the Bagpipers" (Italian), and it BLEW ME AWAY. It was one of the best Christmas songs I ever heard. I did an internet search & found it on the GIFTS III. WOW!!!! Just superb! I play hammered dulcimer, too (um, nothing like Ms. Wilson), and Joemy is an inspiration. I've tried to simulate the Carol of the Bagpipers & also the O Come Little Children & document notes for flute/dulcimer duets for church. My praise group loves this CD as well; I got a copy for the leader & the flute player, they find it EXCELLENT. I've also bought Gifts II and Gifts I since. While they are superior to most Christmas music, I find Gifts I a little too ordinary now, and there are moments of brillance on Gifts II (The Zither Carol & Pat-a-Pan), as well as excellent tradition renditions. Joemy is wonderful!!! The only thing I didn't really care for is Ms. Wilson's Beatles on Dulcimer CD. I mean.... BEATLES on DULCIMER???? It just doesn't seem to be the correct genre for the hammered dulcimer, but to each their own. God bless you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- My Mom found this in a Christmas store back when I was 5 or 6 years old, and I have since felt that Christmas wasn't totally celebrated if we didn't play this over and over and over. I've been looking for it everywhere for my own Christmas music collection, and am so delighted to find it here on Amazon.

- There is only one reason to buy this album. Yes, it's a compilation of new and classic Christmas songs recorded by well-known country artists from today and yesterday. However, buy this album for Track #11 "An Angel Gets It's Wings" by Trisha Yearwood and Vince Gill. This recording was previously unavailable and was recorded special for an exclusive "It's a Wonderful Life" theme at Target stores during the 1993 Holiday season. Back then, you could only get this song at Target on cassette single when you bought either Yearwood's or Gill's new CD at the time. It's a fabulous song written as a tribute to the classic movie. Thank you MCA for finally including this fabulous song in CD form. Even if you're not a country fan and I'm not a diehard, it's not hard to love this song. Great addition to your X-mas music collection!
- Contrary to another review, there's sure more than one reason to buy this CD. Sure, I'll agree that the Trisha Yearwood & Vince Gill duet is outstanding. But there's lots more.
Right off the bat, there's George Strait's rendition of the title song, Christmas Cookies, a rollicking song, maybe mildly suggestive, but basically a lot of fun. Then there's Chely Wright's sprightly rendition of "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow". Lee Ann Womack gives us a deeply feeling rendition of "The Nativity", written by herself. Also along the more seriously spiritual side is George Jones' surprisingly devout "Silent Night". Then we're given three classics at the end, maybe a bit more rockabilly than country in the case of Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock" and Brenda Lee's "Rockiin' Around The Christmas Tree", and country/folk in the case of Burl Ives' "A Holly Jolly Christmas", but still fittin'. Far as rockabilly goes, don't miss The Mavericks version of "Santa Claus Is Back In Town." And Tracy Byrd's "Jingle Bells" really swings. I give this a full five stars, and think it deserves every star. I previously liked "A Country Superstar Christmas 4", but this collection is better balanced with five female vocals and one duet, and six more serious and spiritual songs. And while it's basically traditional country, it does include some rockabilly. So for those who like country, I give this my highest recommendation.
- A mix of oldies (Brenda Lee, Burl Ives) and current stars (Lee Ann Womack, Mark Chesnutt) converge for a well-rounded collection of Christmas tunes.
My favorites on this compilation include:
* George Strait's old fashioned country sound on the title track
*Mark Chesnutt's warm voice on Light of the World
*Tracy Byrd's very upbeat version of Jingle Bell
*** Lee Ann Womack's superb treatment of The Nativity. Her clear tones really told the story well.
* The Mavericks gave an Elvis treatment to Santa Claus Is Back In Town
** Yearwood & Gill's duet on An Angel Gets Its Wings
* Bobby Helms' upbeat handling of Jingle Bells Rock
* Burl Ives' robust singing on A Holly Jolly Christmas
* Brenda Lee's great sound on Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
The other six tunes were acceptable, though I would have skipped George Jones' plaintive, hokey sounding Silent Night.
- Back in December, my sister passed away and we played a song that was her favorite and the song is on the Christmas Cookies Cd. The song is Another Angel Gets Its Wings by Vince Gill and Trisha Yearwood, and our whole family just loved that song, that is why I purchased the cd.
Great Cd with all the other christmas songs also.

- Not only is this a great Christmas album, I think it also has some of the best work that Booker T. and the MGs did as an ensemble. They hit amazing grooves on "Jingle Bells," "Winter Wonderland," and "Wish You a Merry Christmas." And on the second half of the CD, they get very soulful and mellow, with a very bluesy "Merry Christmas Baby" and a gorgeous, gospelish "Sweet Little Jesus Boy." This is sublime stuff that'll grow on you year after year.
- This is Booker T. and the MG's classic Christmas album. It is, of course, performed in their traditional soul instrumental style. If you are familiar with Booker T. and the MG's, you know what to expect. It is a lot of fun to listen to. One of the fun things about this album, is that they will play a few bars of another Christmas song during the song. For instance, "Silver Bells" features a few seconds of "Frosty the Snowman, and "We Three Kings" contains several seconds of "O Come All Ye Faithful". I would recommend this album to anyone who likes classic soul music.
- This is an ok Christmas album, but it does not live up to Booker T. And The MG's' standards. It's very mellow, tame, and quiet. Unlike many of their other recordings. Its still a nice record to put on during the holidays, but towards the end, the organ sound just drags on and on, and I feel like I'm in church. If the recording was just bumped up a notch and a few of the songs from tracks 8-11 were replaced with more catchier ones, this would be a great MGs album along with being a nice Christmas album. Still this does remind you of snow, sleighbells, and sleighriding, its just a little mellow for my tastes. If you want a real rock and roll Christmas record, check out The Ventures' Christmas Album!!
- Not knowing who Booker T was at the age of five this was always my favorite album to listen to when i was a child. I am so happy to own it myself I bought 3 copies one for me my dad (it was his album to begin with) and one for my mom. This is an absolute must have for any collection. It makes that last minute christmas gift wrapping a joy.
- Back in 1966 when the vinyl version of this CD first hit the streets, people were somewhat stunned at the jazzy instrumental treatment of Christmas traditionals. The CD is still very cool today. If you liked "Green Onions" and the other Booker T music back in the day, you're going to like this vintage CD. I was very surprised and pleased to see it available.
