  1. Duntze's illustrations cleverly leap from page to page in this classic rendition of the traditional Christmas carol. Readers can search the page for each day for items from the previous days - five golden rings in the ears of one of the cows the maids are milking, for example. A delightful read-aloud for children young and old.

4 comments about The Truth About Santa Claus.
  1. Mr. Barrington did an excellent job of helping youngsters to understand who Santa really was. He does this without distracting from the excitement of the season. I especially appreciated the emphasis on the birth of Jesus.

  2. I tried to explain santa to my child with this book and it resulted in my child throwing a fit as well as this book at my head. It competely shattered my child's veiw of Christmas as well as her spirit for the season.

  3. I knew it was time to sit down with my son and tell him that Santa didn't really bring his Christmas presents, but I had no idea how to approach this subject. This book made it very easy for me, all I had to do was read it to him. The story was great, it answered all of my son's questions, and it makes parents look like heros. I'm very glad that my son knows the truth now. The pictures are really nice too.

  4. This book is fine for older children who want the reality of how the Santa traditions came to be, but please please please do not use it with your young child. The magic that is Santa Claus is so easy for a young child to understand, and that magic can then be transferred to Jesus as the child gets older. In our home, no one is ever allowed to say that they do not believe in Santa. If they persist they are told that "Santa does not bring gifts to those who do not believe!" Ask anyone in our family from Great Gramma to the youngest and you will get the same answer -- "Of course he is real!" There is incredible magic for me, even now as a gramma, when I view the Christmas morning scene of logs tumbling from the fireplace, ashes on the floor, half-eaten cookies, and the soft glow of the Christmas tree on gifts that weren't there the night before. There is far too much of reality in the world for children nowadays. Please don't ruin this little bit of magic for your child!

3 comments about Shrek the Halls (Shrek).
  1. I'm a devoted "SHREK-ITE." Sad to say, but I missed the televised Christmas special last week. Consequently, I'd like to buy a copy of this "mini" Shrek IV! When might it become available? We have a lot of holidays and I'd love to share ALL OF THEM with Shrek and family and friends!

  2. I bought this gift for two different people at christmas. A woman who loves Shrek. And a guy who calls me and my husband mr and mrs shrek!

Wonderful books, great for kids, great for adults. If you own the movies buy the book!

Add it to your collection TODAY!!

  3. I've seen the Tv Special Shrek The halls, and although I admit that I'm not a huge fan of Shrek, I decided to give it a watch to get into the Christmas Spirit. Let me tell you that I've never laughed sooo hard at the comedy antics of this special. Shrek doesn't know the meaning of Christmas, so he gets a book "Christmas for Village Idiots." to better understand the meaning of Christmas. I thought it was hilarious when Donkey had produced a special Christmas card featuring himself dressed in a Santa suit as "Donkey Clause" or "Santa Donkey" with his big smile standing next the Christmas Tree with the message written on the bottom "Merry Christmas from Donkey and Family" Then during the party, Donkey tells his side of the story of "Twas the night before Christmas" and it's really funny since it shows huge giant cheese logs, a giant fountain of egg nog, and a giant waffel float in a parade covered with maple syrup. Then the Gingerbread man tells his horror story of his date ending in horror, as his gingerbread girfriend gets eaten up by a giant Santa Clause. The dragon was asked by Donkey to help cook the Christmas Eve meal, But it got too well done.
But the ultimate funny story is when Shrek finally understands the true meaning of Christmas and tells his Oger babies the Christmas story in Shrek's own oger way. The kids and maid are sound asleep Kazooin in their beds. Santa Shrek gave the babies each a bottle of stinky swamp juice and he then goosed the maid. (almost what you thought is was going to be, but because it's a kid's special, he gave her a goose to cook for Christmas dinner.) Then Shrek gave off a huge burp that decorated the home with Christmas decorations. A very funny Tv Special, and I would definately buy a copy of this tv special when it comes out for the Christmas holidays.

  1. We turned this beautiful rendition of the twelve days of Christmas into our Childrens Christmas program. It adapted easily to the stage. We made the costumes for 50+ children, and had them build the scene as they sang Pingry's song. The story is beautiful and heartwarming, and puts a reverent emphasis on Christmas that all chldren can relate to; from 2 to 12 years of age.

  2. My toddler class absolutely loved this book! I found myself reading it over and over and over to them. They loved the rhythm..they'd even get up and dance while I sang it to them (because hey! you just have to sing it!) I may need to buy a new copy for next Christmas..this one is almost worn out!

  1. It's Christmas by Tina Burke
Oh the magic of Christmas traditions. The story is simple and each page illustrates a preparation for the holidays. For example, the text "There are things to do...." is accompanied by an illustration of a boy making Christmas cookies and "...and people to see" shows a girl on Santa's lap. Other activities are singing Carols, decorating, making presents, and waiting for Santa. Karen Woodworth-Roman, www.librarians.info
