1 comments about Christmas Wishes (Holly Hobbie and Friends).
- And when they do caroling for a recently widowed woman who has lost interest in celebrating Christmas with her kids, they decide to find a way to help her out.
Holly Hobbie and her friends decide to do something nice for the widow, Mrs. Deegan. They take her two sons, Joey and Paul, out skating. They all have a good time and while they're skating, Hobbie and her friends learn something --- their Mom has told them that this year they're not having a Christmas tree.
HH and friends (or the "Hey Girls," as they dubbed themselves in the first special) decide to bring Mrs. Deegan a Christmas tree. But when their tree is rejected, they worry that their help isn't wanted. But when the Christmas pageant comes along, they realize just how they might be able to help.
Here's some actual dialogue from this book>:
"We know you miss Daddy," said Joey softly. "We miss him too."
"But Daddy loved Christmas, and he would want you to be happy," added Paul.
This book is true to the DVD special through-and-through. Since it's only around twenty pages long, as opposed to a 45-minute special, it cuts straight to the heart of the main plot. This book was adapted by Bonnie Pinehurst, based on the teleplay by Kate Boutilier and Eryk Casemiro. It was illustrated by Kellee Riley. If you or your kids enjoyed the holiday special or like Holly Hobbie in general, then you'll like this.

5 comments about The Christmas Doll.
- The Christmas Doll is a children's story about two orphan girls who live and work in a workhouse in Dickensian England. Life is hard for the girls who are constantly cold and hungry. When some of the children in the factory become sick, Sara (the eldest), fears for her younger sister Glory. The two girls run away and have many frightening and exciting adventures on the streets of London, before finding a place they truly belong.
I listened to the audio edition of this novel and really enjoyed it. Sarah and Glory are two strong-minded powerful little girls, whose friendship and loving hearts endure many terrible tragedies. Wonderful. 5 stars. Suitable for all ages. Sensitive really young children should read with a parent.
- This book I really liked. I had this book for a very long time, but never really got to read it. I started it one day and I couldn't stop. I finished it within two days. Glory and Lucy Wollcot are sisters living in the workhouse (The home for little orphan girls)in London Town.Their meal are scarce their nights are dark and cold and they hear many terrible storys of little girls who escape then get caught. To brighten up their spirits, Lucy "creates" storys of their family that she barley rembers- and a doll named Morning Glory that they are sure they will find again some day. When a deadly fever comes accross the workhouse, the girls escape without getting caught to the terrible streets of London. When the sisters find an old, discarded doll, Glory is positive that it is Morning Glory. Morning Glory is different from other dolls... And she works her magic on every body!
- IT WAS THE BEST I MEAN TOPS I EVEN CRIED SOME IT IS A TOUCHING SWEET STORY YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE IT TO I AM SURE PLEASE READ IT IT IS WORTH IT IT IS A VERY EDIFIYING AND TOUCHING STORY IT LOOKS BORING BUT IT REALLY IS NOT IT IS THE TOP OF TOPS BOOKS
- A child's book that an adult can enjoy is a wonderful book indeed.
This one is wonderful!
- I found this book on the back of an old bookshelf full of some old books. I saw that it was in good condition and had a beautiful cover.
The SECOND I read the first page, I couldn't put it down. I love this book and read it like crazy. Now my dad got it for me off the internet somewhere. It will come in the mail soon and it will be mine. Some parts, such as the line Glory says: "Merry Christmas, Charolette. And Merry Christmas, Morning Glory, wherever you are." made me cry! I love this book and I'm counting down the days until it arrives!

5 comments about The Christmas Barn.
- The Christmas Barn is an excellent read and gift for children and anyone that was alive during the Great Depression. I've purchased copies for everyone in my family. During these tough economic times, a look back to harsher times and the true Christmas spirit may make this book a classic one day!
- Roxie Dockery lives with her family in the North Carolina Mountains in 1930. The Depression is raging everywhere in the country, but it doesn't make much difference to the Dockery family. They have always been poor and they've learned to manage very well. Roxie knows that how much money you have isn't important. The stuffing you have inside you is what counts when trouble hits.
And trouble hits hard just before Christmas. Roxie and her five brothers and sisters are all looking forward to Grandpa George and Grandma Vic, her father's parents, coming to visit like they always do at Christmas. And they're looking forward to the candy that their father brings from town for their stockings, too. But snow comes instead. Lots and lots of it. Roxie wakes up one morning, opens the front door, and sees snow filling their whole porch, from floor to roof. All the kids have to climb out a little window and scoop out a trail from the side of the house all around to the door so their father can get out and help them. They use buckets and pans. Then they have to bail a path to the water pump and all the outbuildings. It takes the whole day. Worse than that, more snow comes that night, and the next day they have to do it all over again. They can't walk through the snow to school, Grandpa George and Grandma Vic won't be able to get through the snow, either, and there won't be any Christmas candy from town. But trouble isn't through with the Dockery family. One morning a few days before Christmas, when everybody except four-year-old John is outside doing the laundry, they hear a groaning sound, and then a loud snap. The big pine tree beside their house, covered with ice, bends and then breaks. Everybody watches it fall on the house, with John inside. What will they do if they've lost John? What will they do without a house in the middle of a cold and bitter winter? You will want to read this book to discover how the Dockery family face up to their troubles and show how it's what's inside you that counts, not how much trouble you have. --- (...)
- This is a very good book...you should read this book!!!This book is one of the best books i have read in a very long time. This book is about a family that lives back in the early 1900's and they live on a farm. The family is eating supper one night when they see that it is starting to snow.it was around Christmas time and they were so excited.they went to bed and when they got up roxie went outside to get her mom some water and she couldnt get out the front door.so they woke up their papa and all the kids and they went out the window and shovled snow all day and the next day.when they were outside working they seen that the pine tree was getting weighted down with snow.It started to leen over to the house and all of the sudden it fell on the house..well if you want to know more about this book you will have to get it and check it out..this book will keep you wondering until you finish it..i say that you should just sit down and read it.Its a great book for kids.
- I liked this book a lot.It was a really good book.Papa webt to town to get the mail.He got the mail and seen that there was a letter from aunt Floss. She told us that the depression hit but they found jobs before it hit lucky for them.Snow hit we got up that morring and mama said that we werent going to school. We had to help papa shovel snow out of the paths. We got up the next morring and papa looked mad.It snow again last night now we have to shovel the paths again. Then a pine tree fell on the house when baby John was in it.He broke his arm.I Loved this book.It is really good.
- Mama and all the kids were helping mama cook dinner while papa was out of town. when he got home they went through the mail and found a letter from their aunt floss. they thought she had died because no one had heard from her for a long time. mama ran to the room and started to cry, abuot an hour latter she came out of her room and after she put the quiltin scraps in her pine tree chest. all the kids were looking thruogh the book of dreams. the kids days were abuot the same chores eat clean cook play if they had time andsleep. papa went to town or got fire wood for the wood stove. mama cooked cleaned took care of the kids and sewed. then a big storm hit and papa couldnt leave because they couldnt get out of their house the kids had to cllimb out the window and start to shovel a path to the door so papa can help them shovel.the snow was to heavey for a tree and it fell on the house while mama and the girls were washing the clothes. to see what happens you have to read the rest of the story.

5 comments about The Small One.
- Granted this book maybe nothing like the original story. However, it does contain the heart of the original story. The message of love, sacrifice, hope, and how God has a plan for everyone comes through clear. True, most of the language is simple, but that's to be expected of a book based on a Disney film based off a classical work. Though this may not be as powerful as the original, it contains the essence of the story and for that, it's a book worth reading.
- This is one of my favorite children's books. It is about a little boy who loves his donkey, Small One, but the donkey is old and weak. The boy's father cannot afford the donkey anymore. The boy goes into town to sell Small One. Small One is willing to sacrifice his life for the boy, but the boy will not allow it.
This is a cute and inspiring tale of friendship. I would definitely recommend this book to people. This book teaches us a lesson. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend. The ending of the story is great. You won't be disappointed!
- My sister bought my 16 yr old daughter this book when she was little since then i have had 2 more girls that LOVE this book. Since they responded so well. I started buying it for gifts and everyone i have ever given it to, as recently as xmas, has given excellent reviews.
- This is a wonderful Christmas story. Its about the love of animals and humans (in this case a child). The book is in wonderful condition and we rec'd it well packaged and in good time. Wonderful book for children.
- I didn't even know this short film was made into a book! For me, I remember watching this film when I was a little girl. This book brings back fond memories of watching this on the Disney Channel around Christmas time. It's a sweet story with a beautiful ending about a humble little donkey who has a very special job to do. Disney would never create a film like this with a Christian focus in today's age, so, in my opinion, this is a rare find.

4 comments about Christmas Sing-Along Car-I-Oke.
- We like to think that this well may be the best Christmas carol since Miss Channing. David Schiller took his love of singing in the station wagon and turned it into a must-have Yuletide novelty. Christmas Sing-Along comes with a CD, a book of 17 classic sing-along carols and three booklets of lyrics, as well as Christmas lore, history and trivia. Sure, you can tune into Ocean 104, but why not let a fresh wave of fa-la-la-la fun sweep into the back seat? All together now: Dashing through the snow/In a one-horse open sleigh ...
- The Christmas Sing-Along is a wonderful addition to other Car-i-Oke items.
The songsare all of the Christmas songs with sime new ones. The words book has artwork as well as the words. Truly a wonderful experience. My wife spent 5 hours sing Christmas song on a drive. It was some of the best time we have spent driving anywhere
- Car-I-Oke Christmas
I've been looking for Christmas music that didn't require special equipment to background the singers, and this is perfect for the car!
We've sang along with the grandkids and it's a lot of fun.
Thank you for making our holiday that much better!
- If you are looking for a CD to sing-along to I don't recommend this product. The first couple of lines are sung for/with you but then stop... and for those who can't carry a tune it is difficult to continue singing. My nieces did enjoy the variety of Christmas songs.

3 comments about O Little Town of Bethlehem: A Pageant of Lights.
- I really love this book! When you open the first page, the music "O Little Town of Bethlehem" starts to play (no singing) & it sounds amazingly well! It only plays once, so you have to open & close the book twice to sing all the pages - not a big deal. It also has lights which shine as stars. The illustrations are VERY cute & well done. My kids 2 & 5 are completely still while I "sing" the words. "O Little Town" is one of my favorite Christmas hymns and I think the producers of this book did a great job presenting it for children.
- LOVE LOVE LOVE this book, my son got it when he was 11 1/5 months old, it is still his fav. at 18 months! He will just sit and look at the pages and "read" the story for the longest time! Very nice and the song isnt very loud, nice for long car rides!!
- My son received this from his Grandparents for his first Christmas (9 months old). He was mesmerized from the moment he opened it... probably because the music and lights start immediately. At first I thought it was rather loud, but not any more. The story is short- great pre-bedtime length!- the illustrations adorable, and the entire first verse is listed on the final page. We typically listen as I read the book and point out pictures, then we close/open the book for the last page and 'sing' the first verse along with the music. We read it year round and my son enjoys it so much, I'm buying him more light/sound books. It's great to see him excited about books!

2 comments about The Tiny Angel (Magic Charm).
- I looked forward to getting another book by this author after reading Silver Slippers. My daughter loved that one, and was quite happy with this one as well. I love the way the author writes the story...the main character (little girl) is referred to as "the little girl" (not by a name) and it is perfect because my daughter likes us to replace "the little girl" with her name when we read it to her!
- My granddaughter loves this series of little books. She has almost all of them now!
