- Book was sent in great condition and in a timely manner. I would use the service again.
- This is one of my favorite stories to hear at Christmas-time. It really reminds you to be thankful of all that you have. My grandmother read this story to all of her grandchildren every year on Christmas Day. This story holds fond memories for me. Since she is no longer here to read the story to us, and now all of the grandchildren are adults, I wanted to have a copy of the story so that when I have children one day, I can read it to them. I want to carry on the tradition.
- I want to agree with another reviewer that the meaning of the book for me was to look within for our own rich resources. That we can transform our own world if we transform our minds. The young girl used her imagination to picture herself out of the situation until it happened. Law of Attraction? Maybe from today's perspective. I just took it to mean that in this time in my life I have to go within to transform my own situation. God knows, I tried everything else :)
I was read the Spanish version "La Pequena Vendedora de Fosforos."
- I first saw this story as a cartoon on tv. It made me cry a lot. It's a very sad story. However, it has a very powerful messages in terms of love, care, poverty, cruelty and dreams. I gave an assignment to my ELD students in high school and some students even told me how touchy the story was. I love the pictures in this book. It's really creative. Overall it's a great, sad story for all ages.
- Summary: A poor, barefoot, little girl is sent out on New Year's Eve to sell matches. As the cold and hungry girl awaits a sell, she lights the matches to keep warm. With the matches lit, illusions occur. As with all illusions, the light goes out on them and the little girl is faced with a grim reality.
The classic author depicts a memorable theme. The setting the author uses is intricately depicted giving the reader an almost live impression of the book's reality. As the character leaves reality and passes into fantasy, the author further impresses the setting with careful detail. The time of "New Year" stabs at the reader's soul with their own memories of Christmas.
The movie is equally wonderful.~The Tales of Hans Christian Andersen (The Red Shoes / The Little Match Girl)

5 comments about Mouse's First Christmas.
- My girlfriend brought this book home as a "pre-christmas" present one year and we both instantly fell in love with it. We don't have children, but we both love the endearing and cute stories. We've read it together many times in the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year for the past three years. It's a delightful and playful book, beautifully, magically and touchingly illustrated in acrylics. We can get lost for minutes at a time studying the illustrations on each page. Thompson has created a timeless character that I'm sure people will be reading to their kids for generations to come.
Mouse teaches us playfulness, curiousty and wide-eyed wonderment at every little thing that makes life so great. This is the best book of the series, but the others are all fun to read as well. We will keep collecting these as long as she writes them.
- This book starts with "Twas a night still and starry and all through the house, not a creature was stirring . . . just one little mouse." By using the classic Christmas story as a leader, the author and illustrator have created a wonderful little book about Christmas for young children. The mouse wanders through the house, encountering all of the items found in a house that time of year. He finds candy, decorations, a Christmas tree, presents, and at just the right time, Santa Claus. Santa tells little mouse that he is loved, so the story ends with little mouse giving his parents a present. I recommend this book as an enjoyable variation of the standard Christmas theme.
- If you have enjoyed other Mouse books by this author you will love this sweet Christmas book with it's simplicity and beautiful illustrations. Little Mouse discovers the wonders of the season.
- This is a very cute little Christmas book and my 12 month old really likes it. My only complaint is that I wish it was a board book and not paperback so it would be easier for her to turn the pages.
- The story begins with a famous line from a famous poem that leads to the fact that one little adorable mouse was indeed stirring, exploring via riddles all the colorful charms of Christmas time. The illustrations are lovely and the story is charming.

2 comments about Mr. Christmas (Mr. Men and Little Miss).
- This book is really good and brings the christmas to our home. It is highly recommended to have.
- Roger Hargreaves, the original author of the Mr Men books, died in 1988, and now his son continues to write Mr Men books under his father's name. "Mr Christmas" does not live up to the standard set by the "real" Mr Men books originally written by Roger Hargreaves.
In this story, Mr Christmas, Father Christmas's nephew who lives at the South Pole, has to deliver Christmas presents to many of the Mr Men because Father Christmas is too busy. Unfortunately, the story is too complicated, convoluted, and wordy for young kids to follow or enjoy as easily as the earlier Mr Men books.
It's still an enjoyable book for kids who love the other Mr Men books, and it's nice to see some of the other Mr Men in this story, but this book is nothing special.

- Great book, my niece Olivia loved it and colored it on Christmas. Book was delivered in good time and in great condition.
- If you are an Olivia fan, then this is a great companion for your Olivia books.
- Just to be clear, this is not a storybook, it's a coloring book, complete with crayons attached to the front. I thought that I was carefully reading reviews, but apparently I wasn't. It's a nice coloring book, but if that's not what you're going for, steer clear!

1 comments about A Katie Kazoo Christmas: Super Super Special (Katie Kazoo, Switcheroo).
- LIGHTS OUT! Katie loves everything about the Christmas holiday, from the delectable treats, to the presents under the Christmas tree, and even the many Christmas carols that her and her mother love to sing year-round. This year, Katie has come up with a wonderful idea. She and the rest of the members of the Cooking Club will be baking tons of cookies, and bringing them to the shelter on Christmas Eve, that way the children can have some treats to brighten up their holiday, as well. But when Katie sees that her neighbors, Mr. Brigandi and Mrs. Derkman - who just happened to have been Katie's beyond-strict third grade teacher - begin competing with one another to win the holiday home decorating contest, Katie gets fed up. The two adults are acting like children, and truly ruining the spirit of Christmas. And, when Katie is swept up by the magic wind and turned into Mr. Brigandi, she must find a way to make him see the true spirit of the holiday before Christmas is entirely ruined.
THAT'S A WRAP - Katie loves wrapping gifts. The only problem that accompanies wrapping them, is the fact that she never manages to make them look special. In fact, Katie knows that she would never be quite happy receiving a gift wrapped as horribly as those that her magic hands have touched. Which is why she becomes quite jealous of the new gift wrapper at Thimbles Department Store. Lauren has the magic touch, and can work all kinds of enchanting looks into her wrapping creations. It really bugs Katie that wrapping comes so easily to Lauren. In fact, a lot of things have been bugging Katie lately, leaving her feeling jealous of many people around her. But when the magic wind sweeps her up, and changes her in to Lauren, Katie faces something very difficult...wrapping the gifts of eager holiday shoppers. Now Katie must confront her jealousy head on, and hope that she can keep things under wraps until she's changed back, otherwise Lauren will be out of a job just in time for Christmas.
THE SANTA SWITCH - Katie is ecstatic to learn that Mr. Guthrie's fourth-grade class will be taking part in a Secret Santa gift exchange. She can't wait to find out who her Secret Santa will be, and only hopes that she'll pick a girls name. When things turn out differently than expected, and Katie begins receiving extremely peculiar gifts, she can't put her finger on who exactly her Secret Santa is. As if that weren't a big enough problem to deal with, Katie's Grandma is in town, which has her super excited, but she's brought a friend along with her. A man named Nick who looks exactly like Santa Claus and is on a friendly basis with reindeers. Katie's friends think that he could, quite possibly, be Saint Nick, but Katie thinks that it's all in their imaginations. That is, until she trades places with a mall elf, and suddenly has a change of heart.
I have read many novels by Nancy Krulik, but have never tried one of the KATIE KAZOO tales. Therefore, when I saw that a Holiday Super Special had been released, I had to have it. Katie "Katie Kazoo" Carew is an adorable character who is mature in her reasonings, while at the same time possesses a youthful nature, giving her a personality that bridges gaps, which will easily appeal to both children, as well as the parents who are reading along with them. The three stories found within this collection all teach valuable lessons revolving around the holidays, from the true spirit of Christmas, to helping others; while confronting different issues, such as jealousy, without preaching. The refreshing thing about these stories is that they offer information about Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, and don't simply discuss Christmas. Each tale is enjoyable, and can be completed within one sitting. And, as if that weren't enticing enough, the caricature-like illustrations by John & Wendy that punctuate each chapter truly bring Katie and the gang to life. A KATIE KAZOO CHRISTMAS will bring a little 'Joy to the World' this holiday season!
