1. Many, many gorgeous fabrics -- the author presents handfuls of fabrics (real eye candy!). For each group, she explains how she decided what to make -- correct fiber, weight and drape for specific uses, coordinating patterns and colors for coordinating uses. She also tells how: what yarns and colors, what weave patterns, with notes on finishing etc. The best part for me is that she tells about the design process -- the thoughts and experimentation that resulted in each group. I turn to it again and again for inspiration.

1. This book is amazing!! It has unique projects for anyone's taste or weaving ability. It is well illustrated & many color pictures; instructions are clear & concise. In general, this book surpasses my expectations!!!

1. Vaughan's book emphasizes collecting natural materials for basketry, with neat color pictures of appropriate vegetation. The last part of the book explains simple basket-making. Great enthusiasm builder and very useful guide for collecting. If you want more on weaving patterns as well as materials, look at Jensen's book "Baskets from Nature's Bounty."

1. Ms. Schlick is the uncontested expert on native American basketry of the Columbia Plateau (eastern Washington and Oregon) and she knows and has the admiration of many--perhaps all--of the current weavers. Her book finally puts a face and name on the creators of the baskets and sees them as individual artists. I can't believe this book has been allowed to go out of print--get it while you can.

1. This is a hybrid based on many ancient skills and adapted to today's (1973) needs. There are a few intermediate diagrams and a lot of monochrome photos of finished products. The book seems to me more of an inspiration than a practical how-to.
