5 comments about RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- I recently purchased the official strategy guide for roller coaster tycoon and I really enjoyed reading the book. I've been playing the game now for over three years and the book helped me tweak my playing style just a little bit to really conquer the scenarios.
I would recommend this book to anyone. It is very informative and easy to use. It has a perfect sense of humor for the RCT fans as you read through the book. I would encourage everyone that loves Roller Coaster Tycoon to add this book to your cart and enjoy reading about the game you have come to love!
- Rct 2 is nothing but amazing and even better when they team up with one of the biggest amusement parks. But this game was designed for scenario player in mind.It would have been nice to open a park without goals or restrictions.I'm a freeform player and so far the best freeform games are the sims and zoo tycoon.
- You need this book when you first get this type of tycoon game. Or if you think you are so good, get the book, and then see how much more you know now. YOUM NEED THIS!
- Its a fun game. If you like to build things and problem solve this is totally for you..
- It would seem a difficult and daunting challenge to create a complete guide to RollerCoaster Tycoon that could fully assess and explain all the small yet very important details in a massive game like RCT. Of course, the folks at Prima have, yet again, met and surpassed this challenge. This guide discusses everything, and gives a massive amount of information about each topic. In addition, it exclusively (I believe) features many useful and informative lists, as well as many useful strategies for effective game play. This said, however, does not mean that it's not fun to read, for I found it incredibly enjoyable, much more so than a manual. The authors have a subtle, suppressed sense of humor that helps keep the text interesting, while explaining clearly boring topics. It reads more like a book than a many other guides do; I could hardly put it down. I believe the only drawback is the fact that it is (except for the covers) printed in black-and -white, which can make the pictures seem a little degraded. Pictures greatly help the reader's understanding of the text. For the high-res obsessed, they won't be impressive, but they serve their purpose well enough. For beginners and pros alike, this guide is a great addition to one's shelf, and you may even find yourself reading it more than once.
For those who want more technical information:
220 pages (not including the three introductory pages), 21 chapters. In addition, lists of:
1. All 40 rides with strategies and information for each.
2. Tips and strategies for building all custom non-coasters(coasters are too broad to do lists such as these)
3. All available scenery and themes, both categories, and the individual items, with prices.
4. All attractions, stalls and stands, with statistics and placement strategies for each.
5. Everything that can be purchased, with its price.
6. Easter eggs (no cheats for this game) that have guests do fun things.
7. Informative but brief facts for beating each of the 86 scenerios.
Also, here are some things included in the guide, although in the guide really has way too much to list.
1. Detailed explanation of park finances.
2. Ways to ensure guests have fun.
3. Tricks for maximizing the efficiency of your employees.
Hope you gained at least some knowledge from reading my review, MRW, 12 years of age.

5 comments about Wild Arms: Unauthorized Game Secrets (Secrets of the Games Series.).
- Grea
- IT helps out with everything but some of the minor information is WRONG. It will get you through the game. No pictures (disapointment).
- This book was excellent with the monster and spell guide but it got you stuck in a few places. Still, with the help of this book I got ALL the secrets, beat the ENTIRE game, and as such I recommend this book to ANYONE who likes Wild Arms.
- All I can say is, when you enter an area and the book tells you to go left, when infact you should be going to the right.. that is a problem. This book is a waste of money.. get the Dimension Publishing Wild Arms guide... it's much nicer, completely detailed (maps too ;) and more worth your money.
- I own every Wild Arms game there is. I have strategy guides for all of them as well. (Who has time? I work for a living)
I already owned the Official Strategy guide and practicaly used it to death, when I decided to buy this one just to compare. The official strategy guide wins hands down. This strategy guide has NO pictures. Only paragraphs explaining what to do. And they don't even explain very well. Also this strategy guide has NOTHING that isn't in the official guide. The official strategy guide has pictures that show you where to look for chests. This guide only provides a list of items that can be found in that area. If you aren't really a strategy guide person and you like figuring everything out for yourself, then feel free to use this guide. I will probably be selling mine soon.

2 comments about Dead or Alive 4 (Prima Official Game Guide).
- The back cover of the guide promisses "expert lessons". Where? It's just more general suggestions. I already know I need to learn the counter system to be effective at this game. The booklet with the game tells me that. HOW PRIMA? HOW DO I DO IT? There's no lesson. There's no how to. I'm still looking for the promised "gaurd breaks" list in the "character strategies" section. Sounds like it's something I'd really like to try. This guide makes it seem like an effective tool. Too bad that other then a general description of what a guard break will do for me, there's no actual instruction on the technique.
Great I know all the character moves that you can't possibly hope to accomplish while the computer has you in a 99999 punch juggle. I can get that info for free on gamefaq.com. I was actually better as a button masher at this game than I am armed with this worthless guide.
- I disregarded the previous review by LB on January 25th and i sorely regret it. This game guide does not tell you how to counter properly, guard breaks, and character strategies. On the back cover it says it shows you the best/worst match-ups but its nowhere to be found. Doesnt give you any tag combos at all, or online play instructions.
PS For goodness sake, learn to play a character other than Ryu Hayabusa, Jan Lee or Brad Wong. Everyone plays these characters online.

4 comments about Powerful Profits From Internet Gambling.
- Royer is quite right. Internet gambling is one of the key moneymaking areas of the Internet. [Along with porno sites.] The biggest problem is that US citizens are barred from patronising such sites.
He describes how the online aspect can lead to instant gratification. Well, actually, the prospect of such. In practice, of course, the player loses, on average. So it really is instant losses.
But unlike real, physical casinos, an online casino has much less labour overhead. And no need to build a billion dollar edifice in which your customers play. So an online casino has some advantages over its offline counterparts. It also has disadvantages. Of those gamblers who go to Las Vegas, for example, many do so for the physical experience. Like being in a group, going to a different town, seeing the floor shows and so on. So both types of casinos will co-exist.
- While I agree with the first reviewer that yes online gambling is illegal(for now), Let's be for real! It's not going to go away! People are still going to gamble online, & it's not going to make the BM casino go belly-up.And online poker is just getting bigger & bigger, thanks to poker tournaments shown on ESPN & a whole lot of cable shows. With that said, the author explains all of these factors. The pros & cons of online gambling. How the real casinos can benefit from online casinos, plus he explains to you how to get online & play in them & see if they are legit or not. What bad sites to watch out for, & how not to be taken by them. At least the author gives you the sense that IF you are going to do this that you're not going in there flying blind for the first time & not know the risks. You CAN make money in online casinos, you just have to watch yourself. This is a helpful book on this subject, & can make you if a not better online player, at least a prepaired one. Another good gambling series from this author. Good Luck.
- Never really explains the rouge casinos. How to avoid them. So many people are traped by them. Also the information that is contained in this book is not all that current. My advice is look carefully and beware when you open up an online gambling account. The author does not provide you with much help in this area.
-
Internet gambling is fraught with dangers, and the author of this book carefully guides you through them, and explains how it all works. Just recently, the US House of Representatives passed proposed legislation that would make Internet Gambling illegal, through limits and restrictions on financial transfers. In this book the author already anticipated this, and has carefully explained the realities of what you will find, or won't find, among Internet Casinos. This author is very careful in all his books to help the readers through all the stages of the games, and everything that goes along with them.
As good as this book is, I have recently noticed that there have been reviews by persons who are posting plainly incorrect and highly prejudicial and skewed negative reviews. If you read the other reviews posted here, and for this author's other works -- and the books themselves -- it is obvious that those who are posting these skewed negative "reviews" have no clue, and are trying to somehow assert themselves without understanding anything at all about the material they are criticizing.
I have reviewed a few of this author's books, and for good reason. As you can plainly see, there are many other reviewers who have agreed that this author's books are terrific, and offer great instruction and well-written commentary on the subjects under discussion. This is also the case for this book.
This is a very good book, and I hope you will give yourself an opportunity to find this out for yourself.

3 comments about Paper Mario: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- From bosses to every little strategy this book has it! If you just got the game this is what you need. If was the author I would call this book-
Paper Mario For Dummies Kyle Walker
- The sequel to the popular Super Mario RPG is finally out!! Paper Mario is a 2-D storybook adventure and Prima has published another well written guide but why should you buy it?? Paper Mario is the deepest (if not the only) RPG for the Nintendo 64. There are a total of 80 hidden badges and 160 Star Pieces to find throughout the course of the game. I strongly suggest anybody who has Paper Mario to play the game. I mean really play the game to understand its a great game. Overuse of the guide is a *much* less-rewarding experience and you'll beat the game with a flat look on your face.
- This book is VERY helpful, except...towards the end where it starts to stop being detailed and helpful. Then if you're looking for a guide to help you to the end, but finish it off yourself this is for YOU!

5 comments about Metroid Prime (with Metroid Fusion) (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- Prima did us a big favor by including both new Metroid games in one guide. Since the games were both released at the same time and they even connect together to unlock certain special features, it is fitting that they should be tacvkled together in one guide. It also saves you some extra cash.
The book starts off with the Metroid Prime section (the reason I purchased the book) and goes over detailed descriptions of all the weapons, armor, visors, power-ups, etc. This is followed by a map section that displays each world and approximate locations of hidden items and upgrades. Next is the "walkthrough". This area is very detailed and is broken into sections based on the big item you are hunting. For instance if the section is called "Ice Beam" then the text tand photos that follow are all leading you to that item, with the occasional pit stop to grab available upgrades. I have very little to complain about except that some screenshots are dark or grainy and hard to make out. A big part of Metroid Prime is scanning items, locations, data, creatures, etc. When you scan something, it is added to your log book for future reference. If you manage to get 100% of the items in the game and scan every item your log book requires, then you get the best of 3 possible endings to the game. Unfortunately, while the book has a nice list of every item and scanned object, the walkthrough will sometimes run you right by an area without warning you that a scanable object is near you. So I suggest keeping an eye on the walkthrough AND the log book check list to make sure you collect everything you need to make that elusive 100% score. Unfortunately I do not own a Gameboy Advance, so I am unable to fairly grade the Metroid Fusion section. However that game is not as complex as Metroid Fusion, so I imagine the writers' thoroughness shows in that section of the book also. The screenshots in the Fusion section are much clearer, and again it also has an item section and maps. Since this game resembles Super Metroid so much, the maps are laid out in a similar fashion to the automap feature of Super Metroid, in a sort of grid fashion. The book has been very helpful, particularly with strategies against Boss monsters and well-hidden items. Metroid Prime has no cheat codes at this time so read those strategies carefully, because they WORK and these Bosses are no pushovers. Well worth your money.
- This is definitely one of the better guides I've seen for Metroid Prime. I'd give it a five but there are about two things that bother me about the guide (see below).
First of all, the guide has a very detailed and easy to use walkthrough. I loved it. Easy to follow and easy to read with great detailed maps and plenty of screenshots (which you'll undoubtably need!). There is a maps section before the walkthrough and then they show the maps again before each section of the walkthrough, which makes for far less page flipping. The Metroid Prime section gives you the run down on everything you need for all of Samus' abilities and how to obtain them in this highly detailed walkthrough. The screenshots are clear although at times they can be a bit darker than others. Some screens are actually very hard to depict what they're trying to tell you even with the text standing out. I wouldn't consider the terrain you venture through in Metroid Prime to be quite that dark. The Metroid Fusion section of this guide is very useful if you want to complete the entire game. Much like Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion maps seemed more like a grid and Prima did a very good job in these maps by highlighting hidden areas along the way. Using this guide it is nearly impossible to get yourself lost (although the game makes sure you don't get lost either...). Again, a run down on all Samus' abilities and a full walkthrough to help you get everything you need to defeat SA-X and save the universe! A great companion in deed. The screens are still a little darker in this section but because of the fact that Metroid Fusion has a bit more lighting in some areas than Metroid Prime, you can much more easily depict these. My gripes with the guide. Well first of all, for Metroid Fusion it doesn't depict how to get all the different endings of the game. I do not believe they did this in Metroid Prime either. Also, there is no walkthrough for the original Metroid. This isn't too bad of a problem but the first Metroid game presents probably one of the greatest challenges in the series (aside from Prime of course) and I need more than just basic "tips" that I've already come to learn by playing other Metroid titles. My thrid gripe of course is the dark screens but they are crystal clear and you shouldn't have a problem trying to make out anything in the Metroid Fusion section. Overall, this guide is probably your best friend in completing both of these titles. It's nice to see that there was a guide publisher that took Metroid Fusion into consideration. Both guides are good and WILL help you find everything with little hassle. So... The Good +Complete walkthrough for Metroid Prime and Fusion +Detailed Maps for both section +Nice thorough walkthrough for both sections +Crystal clear screenshots The Bad -Game endings aren't revealed -Metroid Prime screens are a little dark at times -No NES Metroid walkthrough, just "Tips" on how to go through the game. While the last con isn't a problem it would've still been nice to include a short walkthrough at the least being that it is a secret of the game.
- This manual is great except for the Metroid Fusion section. I have done some exploring and found out that PRIMA DOESN'T EVEN SHOW THE LOCATIONS OF NEARLY HALF THE ITEMS IN THE GAME!!! How disappointing.... Metroid Prime has a great walkthrough and the guide shows strategies on beating the toughest bosses, but not with Fusion! Come on Prima! I'm not trying to criticize you or anything, but I know you can work a little harder.
