3 comments about Deus Ex (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- This strategy guide is very detailed and cohesive. It is jam-packed with pictures, levels, and background of Deus Ex. The game is by far the BEST FPS(First Person Shooter) *that requires a brain to complete* this Year. It might just be the GAME OF THE YEAR! I have it and I'm almost done. I got it on the second day it came out and I am HIGHLY ADDICTED to this game... because it's more than just a game....it's a whole other world! Don't believe me? Try it out then and see for yourself if your up to it! -Carlos Jr. 7-2-00.
- Deus Ex is a complex game. In fact, I didn't realize just how complex it was until I started reading this strategy guide and saw how many subtle options I had missed. Unlike many of the Prima guides which tend to be a little anemic in the "actuallly useful information" department; I found this guide to be absolutely PACKED with helpful tips and clues. Deus Ex is almost a different experience with this by my side.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to get the most out of the game but who (sadly) cannot play it through two or three times to accomplish that goal.
- I never buy strategy guides for games because I usaully feel little need for them but when it comes to a game so complex and with so many options I felt I was going to need it for Deus Ex, This book was great considering i dont like to play through games over and over to find all options and secrets but sometimes I lost the satisfaction of figuring things out my own way (considering this game is all about your own decisions and playstyle) when I would wonder hmm i wonder how the book says to do this but all in all i wouldnt wanted to have played without it

5 comments about Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Official Strategy Guide (Bradygames Official Stratgy Guides).
- I sold my strategy guide for Snake Eater thinking that this guide will cover the full game, online mode and original Metal Gear games. What a let down. Lets start with the coverage of Snake Eater: The unlockables and secrets sections has been shrunk down to half a page. There is no Kerotan (frog) map as there was in the original guide. The back of the guide even says that it has it but it doesn't. Now for the online mode: This was done well and seems to be the focus of the guide. Now for my biggest complaint. There is no coverage of the orginal Metal Gear or Metal Gear 2! They have the nerve to tell you to register the guide at their website to get coverage. I registered it and there was nothing listed! Absolutely the most half-a$$ed guide I have ever seen. I can not recommend this guide to anyone. I actually had to re-buy the original guide. This is even a terrible add-on. If you have the original guide then you have no need for this book. If you don't have the original guide, go buy the original guide. This book is useless!
- This guide is complete crap. Don't waste your money on this guide unless you want online maps. BUY THE ORIGINAL SNAKE EATER GUIDE. This guide does not cover details on the camo, face paints, weapons, CQC (close quarters combat), or show the locations of the kerotans.
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The original Strategy Guide had everything you would ever want or need. This seems to be a continuation guide. It gives you the secrets that weren't previously in the official guide... but the secrets that are in the official guide aren't included here. The walkthrough is pretty much the same, just a bit more compressed. The maps, and info presented in the main walkthrough is virtually the same.
There are several things that I wish would've been included in this guide. Truly, this guide should've been an expansion of the original one. For one, they took out the Kerotan locations (though they actually do mention the reward for finding them all). The original guide was 224 pages, and this one is 160. In this case, the numbers don't lie. You won't get nearly as much information from this guide as you would the original. No indepth look on camos or face paint. This includes the new camos you can find in this game.
They have maps for online mode and all, but I find that this is the only plus the guide has really got. New secrets get a mention, but not much of an explanation.
Worst of all? No walkthrough for the original Metal Gear or for Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. This is unforgiveable. Without a walkthrough for these two games, the guide only further becomes useless. If you want a walkthrough for Snake Eater, you might as well get the original guide. All the extra content isn't explore enough in this guide. Maps for online mode don't make a fantastic guide. A basic walkthrough also doesn't make a fantastic guide. We're interested in the new content as well as the old. And while it does a fairly good job in the original walkthrough (it's basically the same, word for word), it's compressed to fit in the pages. Also, there's no help about CQC. If you're someone who never played Snake Eater and so you invested in Subsistence, this guide isn't going to help you adjust to CQC.
So in short, you might as well get the original guide. It doesn't have the coverage of Online mode or most of the new extras, but you're really not getting that by investing in this guide either.
- Thier were too many changes & additions to this game. The controls were very sketchy as was the terrain. The first two games were much better & had far more detailed level.
- The guide was missing some stuff that it said it had. It was supposed to have maps of where to find the kerotans, but didn't. It didn't even talk about most of the hidden stuff in detail. I was disappointed.

- This book is a must buy for all of you duds in the computer gaming industry that can't ever seem to conquer level one. All the hints, tricks and codes you need to get you on your way. Don't take me wrong though, it won't play the game for you, and in the end only raw skill and talent will only win it for you.

1 comments about Naruto Ninja Council 3: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Prima Official Game Guides).
- This book is pretty awesome. Ninja council 3 can be pretty annoying at time, and only gets good in the later missions. But I'm a hardcore Naruto fan so I was upset that I couldn't beat it. Sure, you could look up walkthroughs online but this book has color illustrations of what to do and how to do it, who to choose for your missions...plus it includes trivia from the show!
Prima guides are usually really good, so if you buy ninja council 3 be sure to buy this too!

5 comments about City of Heroes Binder (Prima Official Game Guide).
- Prima made the promise of being able to update the binder with packets to be sold in stores. Well they have decided to back out and allow customers to do the printing themselves. It will now cost almost $200 for a simple update if you want it printed in color.
- This binder is full of info the is very handy in getting more from City of Heroes. A little pricy but the organization is can bring you is worth it!
- The book has a lot of information but is so out of date its not funny! it only go to issue 6, and there are no update packets to go with the binder, Prima stopped updating their binders and now want you to download the updates free but you have to print them on your own, which I have read can cost as much a 200$ so I review this binder as NOT WORTH IT
- Prima has led people to believe there will be updates to go with these binders, This has not been showen to be true!
Yes you can get a free printable update from back around issue 7, If you have the paper and ink to print around 251 pages of udates that are long since outdated!
Okay for younger players just starting, but if you are a serious player, you get no useful info here!
- The binder itself is nice, but not for what it cost us. I'm glad we didn't order one for every member of the family since we all play the game. If you want it for the information, you'll save money by just surfing the web for info on the game. If you're a collector, then it's probably worth it.
If you're a parent, thinking of buying it for your kid....then perhaps you should reconsider... Unless your kid plans on playing this game for years...and most will give it up sooner than later....you won't want to waste your money. The book is already dreadfully out of date as far as the game is concerned, and the publisher doesn't offer updates.
Skip over and save your money. 'Nuff said.

5 comments about Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (Official Strategy Guide).
- This is a prette decent book. Especially the initial part is helpful in getting started in the game and finding your way around. It provides a good overview of the different types of characters you can play and provides some guidance in possible ways of developing these characters and how to use the character's skills.
The second part of the book is a plain walk through. This becomes a cheat-sheet more than anything else. You can probably find this on the Internet. I would have wished for more overall strategy.
- The guide is easy to use, imformative and extremely helpful on the later levels, like the Warrens. Their maps are right on, a must have for anyone that wants to do more than the main quests.
- This is a very attractive and comprehensive guide to the game, and very cheap considering the quality of the paper & images.
My only complaint is that the order of the "missions" inside, which tend to be in no particular order concerning their placement. Missions that I encountered early on in the game I had to dig around into the back of the guide to find; and oftentimes the book would break up the mission depending on how many parts it entailed, rather than listing out the full specs of the mission in one convenient place.
Other than that, I would recommend this book to anyone who owns the game. The price alone is an amazing bargain, and the helpful information - as well as directions towards hidden quests/items - is not only useful, but fun!
- I trhink that the guide is a neccesary item to go along with the game because not only does it give you all the information on clan choices and blood powers, but sometimes in gameplay they don't adequately give you the control information, and without the guide you'd just be guessing and possibly get killed.
- The guide hands well for version 1, but with the unofficial updates, is a little superfical, and irrelevant.

5 comments about Tomb Raider: The Book: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- Nowadays it's almost mandatory to purchase a Prima strategy guide whenever you purchase a game. My family has been very happy with the Prima guides, and this one is no exception.
- I have 3 tomb raider strategy guides from which this turned out to be the one that had everything + much more than the other two guides had. Great hints&tips, cheat codes, walkthrough, and guides on how to fight the hardest enemies, get past difficult obstacles, & where to find great secrets and how to use the most powerful weapons. Lara Croft can do anything in Tomb Raider now with the help of this great guide. The best part is that it helps you with all Tomb Raider Games not just one!
- This book is GREAT! Tomb Raider is the best game ever! I recieved my copy today and I really enjoyed it. It has everything you need to know about ALL the Tomb Raider games (except Tomb Raider 6 Angel of Darkness). It has tips on how and where the secrets are, Her moves, her enemies and how to beat the level. Also the have Tomb Raider models and an interview with Angelina Jolie! You have to order this book if you have not yet. It is a must for any collection!!
- This is a pretty cool book, it has all the games rolled into one, i also really enjoyed the interviews at the end of the book.
- If you are a fan of Tomb Raider then this is the book for you. It has strategy guides for almost every Tomb Raider game ever made. Including the Game Boy Tomb Raider.

2 comments about Grandia III Official Strategy Guide (Bradygames).
- ...The question is how badly will you need it? Grandia III is a fairly linear and straightforward game. It doesn't have a whole lot of secrets and there aren't very many (if any) sidequests at all. So do you really need a guide? Well, not really. But if you do get one because you're stuck or just need the extra leg up, you should be glad there's a quality guide out there like this one. It'll let you know what's ahead of you and help prepare you for the most dangerous foes.
The guide begins with some "advanced tips". So if you're the type that picks up a strategy guide for the game basics (helping you adjust to the battle system if you're new to it, or anything like that) then you won't find them here (but your instruction manuel is there for that reason, of course). However, for what it's worth, most of these tips are pretty good. They help you learn where some of the best level up spots are and how to acquire some good gold early on in the game. There are also tips for the gambling, for creating mana eggs, and also giving you info on rare enemies like the Lucky Mink. They also list out which enemies have the most hit points, are the strongest etc. In a way, it seems like they're just trying to make good use of paper in the beginning.
Afterwards, the real strategy begins. Everything you need to know about characters is here. All their skills and how to get them, beginning stats and how well they are in battle. A chart is also provided to show you just how characters level up. Each character is given a set of stars next to each stat. For example, if a character maintains a good HP level as they level up, the guide gives them three stars. This can easily be used to tell you who is best for what.
The walkthrough doesn't waste time. It isn't sluggish at all. Each section gives you a list of objectives and then points them out to you on the map. There's more to these maps than pointing out items, goodies, save points and whatnot. They also provide you with all the enemy groups. Also, in a chart provided they tell you what to expect by battling an enemy group and how much experience and gold you'll get. This helps you decide if a battle is worth it. The screenshots are blurry, though. Which won't be a big problem, you can mostly make out what's going on. The boss strategies aren't particularly helpful. They spend a lot of time repeating the same thing for just about each and every boss (cancel attacks), but they don't always tell you what to expect. I let this slide because the game tells you what a boss is about to attack with and the guide does inform you when you should cancel. It really does a good job on providing you with defense, but not always an effective offense.
The appendices section was nice, however. Giving you the low down on all the items, weapons, armor, accessories, mana eggs and skill books. When telling you about magic they do a fantastic job telling you what spells are powerful and which ones will help. They also tell you what mana eggs will make certain mana eggs. However, they do this as a list. Under Volcano Egg, for example, they'll list out every combination that'll give you a volcano egg. Was a chart too much to ask for?
The bestiary is very detailed. No problems there. Everything you need to know about all the enemies is perfectly detailed in an easy to read manor. They even have a separate bestiary for the bosses, which makes figuring out the stats for a boss rather easy. It can easily be expressed that a Grandia guide probably doesn't need a bestiary, but there are times when you're glad you've got it.
Overall this is a pretty satisfactory guide. 240 pages is a bit exhaustive for a Grandia guide, however. Don't be fooled by it's size. It may be detailed but there's a lot of unused space. So don't think 240 pages means you're buying a Grandia encyclopedia, it's just another basic strategy guide. However, it's a good guide. If you're stuck in Grandia III, it's a fantastic guide. Again, though, I have to tell you, Grandia III isn't a game where you'll find yourself in dire need of a strategy guide. Even if you're someone who likes to bask in all those secrets, you won't need it for the simple fact that it's a Grandia game... and a Grandia game hardly needs a guide to help you unearth all the secrets.
The Good
+Detailed Walkthrough
+Helpful tips
+Great character analysis and breakdown
+Easy to use walkthrough
+Detailed bestiary
+Skill books, mana eggs and more!
The Bad
-A chart for making the different mana eggs would've been nice
-The boss strategies are good on defense but not always offense
-I just can't shake the fact that you most likely won't need this guide. Grandia III doesn't have any lucrative secrets. So if you do decide to get this guide, avoid paying sixteen dollars for it.
It's a great guide, but it isn't a guide that you'll get a lot of use out of. Still, it's five star quality, so pick it up.
- I am a fan of official game guide and I have to say that this game guide is one of the good ones. I am still playing Grandia III and so far this game guide helps me much. I love it and it worths every cent of my money.
