  1. I don't know if it's Prima or what but this book is good to a certain extent. I say that because it has your basic stragties and tips but for some of the more valuable areas or secerts you'll get frustrated. Like the tomb before you fight Baraka, you do everything the book says then something is suppose to happen in order for you to continue to that area but nothing happens. Whats that all about!?!?! Anyway you could go all the way back you came, but that gets annoying because you have to find you way back. I think Prima needs to be more in-depth with their material.

3 comments about Wario World (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
  1. Wario World is a great new platform game from GameCube, I have played the game throughly, and without this colorful strategy guide, I don't think there would be a chance in the world that I wouldn't be able to get through this game. Though, it's fairly simply this guide gives you helpful tips that you may not even now about. This is a must for all GameCube fans if you are having trouble finding those hard to find treasures and or just having no luck whatsoever trying to get past through the trapdoor stages to get to the crystals an order to defeat the bosses at the end of the stages. Don't bother looking up the internet for codes, cheats or whatnot, look no further: Wario World: Prima's Official Strategy Guide is here to save the day! It also gives you an outline of Wario's Worlds that you must have to go through. Getting toward the end of the game, you are beat. And thanks, Wario World: Prima's Official Strategy Guide, I made it through. And beat that Evil Black Jewel, which was fairly easy if you knew the strategy to beat 'em. It also includes the trial version of the Game Boy Advance game: Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Microgames. It gives you tips on how to defeat the mini games from the GBA game. Wario World is a fun game, and can't wait for the sequal.

  2. This book is the best way to beat Wario World. It gives a complete walkthrough and game secrets! Complete with detailed maps and locations for each of Warios treasures!!! I beat the game in 2 days flat!!! I recommend this book to anyone who likes challenging games.

3 comments about Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Prima Official Game Guide).
  1. For this game guide, it is quite good. It is because it does tell me a lot of good information to play through the game. For example, this guide has good tips to play it with good strategy. Also, this is quite a sweet guide because not only the book is good, it also have a good game poster in it. Overall, good guide.

  2. I always don't seem to know why so many third-party companies can make strategy guides as diverse as possible. While so many of them have done fairly well, there are others that could've been better. For anybody who has played the Need For Speed series, many of them have used these guides to score very big. The latest edition for Need For Speed: Most Wanted for several home consoles: PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and P.C. gives unique details about what you need to do inorder to be most wanted. The book gives all the details about who to make it on the most wanted list, whether it is the tracks, or how to unlock certain cheats for improving your cars, and performances. Although the book is very detailed, I honestly wish that it could've given a whole lot more for the handhelds like the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS or the Sony PSP editions, for those who just have only those editions. If you don't have those, than it won't be as much of a problem. Prima's Need For Speed: Most Wanted guide is a great buy to beat the cops, and help you become a notorious racer.

    Maps: B

    Price: B+

    Overall: B

  3. This guide is the best guide for this game! It has everything you need to know. Including, track maps with shortcuts and fastest routes shown, everything about all the blacklist rivals, even the stuff that the cops do. I would recommend this guide to anyone who has Need For Speed: Most Wanted.

5 comments about Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Catalog: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
  1. I think this is a great type of book for beginners at dueling.I also think it is good because it can help duelists who aren`t that good at it, they want to learn new strategies,or to beat that opponent that just keeps beating you that you can`t win against.

  2. The greatest guide you might ever see. Explains: rules, attack and defense, life points (lp), card lists, and more! Rule the duel with this and the following items: Deluxe Starter Set (joey or pegasus), Duel Disc Launcher, Yugi Starter deck, Magicians Force Boster Packs, Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Catalog: Prima's Official Strategy Guide, and maybee a duelist calculator. Its right here folks! The book almost as good s the Thousand Eyes Bible!

  3. The primary reason that I give a lower rating is that the text is not legible. For monsters, this is understandable and forgiveable. For others, it is not.

Some of the tips are useful, but many are trite. Still, that helped bring up the overall rating.

There are nine cards per page with each card having these:

    + card type
    + monster type
    + attribute
    + level
    + ATK
    + DEF
    + rarity
    + editorial comments

Add a brief set of rules, table of contents and index and that is about all there is. The other things that I expected were things that I mentioned above. I also expected a list of what constitutes the different rarity ratings. This certainly should be in this book, but was not. I will provide an estimate here:

    C : Common
X : only in structure decks or starter decks
R : Rare (card name in silver foil)
SCR : Secret Rate (sparkling holographic image)
SR : Super Rare (images on foil background)
UR : Ultra Rare (card name in gold foil, image on foil background)
UTR : Ultimate Rare (embossed holographic image with foil lettering)

Regardless, it is a book that probably should be in your collection.

  4. The book is a good reference for 'viewing' all cards available. If you want to simply view all cards and not go any further, this book is for you. This product seriously lacks the passion of the game. i.e Heart of the Cards.

If you're looking for a book to give a enlightened view into the current card playing landscape and how each card may affect the landscape or a particular deck class (beatdown, card control, exodia, ect) this book will make you un-happy.

The Authors of the book seriously show their ignorance of the game as a strategey guide. Prima thought they could push out another title and serously under-estimates the Yugioh card environment.

I play Yugioh with my son weekly. We laughed at this book. It gathers dust on my shelf. I would strongly suggest the 'Pojo' set of Yugioh book guides.

  5. I am a HUGE fan of Yu-Gi-Oh (see my review for The YuGiOh Movie for more info) and have come to rely on Prima's strategy guides (especially this one) for many occasions. Prima's has done it again, cataloging all the cards you would ever need to build a supremely kick-ass deck and then a lot more. I actually built my deck based on the suggestions found in this catalog and have built, as I have previously mentioned, a truly kick-ass deck. In fact, the deck that I won my first tournament with was constructed from the Prima's guide. For both newcomers to the duelist realm and veterans of the craze, this is the definite catalog for you.

  1. I do not know if the tax is adde

  2. I got this book in order to understand the game I brought. It has all the information I need. Character profiles, special and finishing moves, combos, links, and opponent strategies. It is in color with clear pictures, but some are too small to make out. There are main problems with this book. One, it doesn't have a Sub-Zero section, just the classic version. Second, it doesn't cover the Sega Saturn version of the game, which I have. It might be similar to the Sony Playstation, but the SS game has some things PS don't have, and vice versa. This is good book to use, unless you are a Sub-Zero fan.

  3. VERY HELPFUL! EVERY SPECIAL MOVE, FATALITY, ANIMALITY, FRIENDSHIP, BABALITY,BRUTALITY, AND CHARACTER PROFILE. IT EVEN GIVES YOU HELPFUL HINTS HOW TO DEFEAT THE BOSSES WITH EASE.

3 comments about Postmortems from Game Developer: Insights from the Developers of Unreal Tournament, Black and White, Age of Empires, and Other Top-Selling Games.
  1. Love this book. Each postmortem is full of advice about designing, producing, and shipping a video game - advice from the developers themselves - allowing YOU to learn from THEIR mistakes. Techincal gaffes, hiring snafus, political missteps, project management mistakes; anything that can go wrong in a software project HAS gone wrong in one of these stories.

When you get to the end of this book, you'll feel like a battle-hardened veteran that can take anything a project throws at you; and most of minefields mapped out are surpisingly appicable to ALL software development, not just video games.

Beware: this book may have you rummaging through discount bins to find the games mentioned- good or bad, you feel affection for a game once you've shared the trials and tribs of the creators.

  2. I've read several game design books, including Mike McShaffry's Game Coding Complete. While reading architecture and design is good and many of the books reflect the author's experience on several projects, Game Developer Postmortems provides the actual triumphs and stumbling blocks each game project went through.

A quick read and the best way to get insight into these projects without actually having worked on the teams, it's a book I'd recommend to anyone looking to understand game design projects.

  3. Both my partner and I treasure the wealth of information available between the covers of this book. We are making the difficult shift from TV production to game production and it is fascinating to see where other teams and their leaders got things wrong and right. With great examples from a wide variety of games (Some that we personally love playing) there is a well rounded selection.

I hate to use the term "must have" but... this book is a must have for anybody in or wanting to be in the game industry.
