  1. I have always wanted to make a bear out of recycled fur. Well this is the book that will teach you how. It is only for the person who is willing to be a patient sewer, but then aren't all teddy bear makers? A very exciting book, with beautiful photos and Nancy Tillburg is sharing everything with the teddy bear world. I highly recommend this book.

  2. What a great book for those wanting the special instructions needed for working with reclaimed fur coats. This book deals mainly with real fur and how it is treated differently than mohair. However mohair directions are also included. If you buy this book and Nancy's other book "101 Bears to Make" you will have all the information you need on bear making.----------------------Pam

  1. This book is an ok book, but is a little confusing... I found that the drawings did not explain how to build the kites very well Intermediate-Advanced kite makers would love this book!!!

1 comments about How to Make Upside-Down Dolls.
  1. This is a fun old book to look at - but I didn't find it particulary helpful. this book is based on some specific dolls that are traditional in the southeast part of the U.S. and it's fascinating to see them and see how they are made. I would probably never make one myself, but I certainly enjoyed reading it. Since it's long out of print, and since most libraries no longer keep older books around, you almost have to buy it to read it - but it certainly is reasonably priced enough. I would recommend it for the curiosity value, and perhaps you might be moved to make one of the dolls.

  1. The instructions are clear and easy to be follow. It was not difficult to adjust the boot's pattern to fit my 18" Kewipe doll under the directions. I used PVC fabric to instead leather, the effect was also great. If you want to dress your beloved dolls more perfectly, this book is a necessary reference for you.

  2. Doll Shoes Workbook II gives directions that I can understand and it is a guide to materials. I only wish I had seen that there was a Workbook I that preceded it.

  3. I've used this (paperback) book to make shoes for an American Girl doll plus a couple of others. It's a nice book for basic patterns and is easy to follow for novices, like myself. A handy reference book for those who go on to greater things.

  1. I checked this book out from the library and within 2 days have decided to purchase it. This book is beautifully illustrated with color photos and has large print, easy to read instructions. (I do agree that the projects seem to run together.) The term "dolls" is misleading, as they include everything from zoo/farm animals to clowns and snowmen. The book offers baby-friendly instructions, but I am disappointed that most of the photos only show the dolls with "over 3 years" eyes and noses. I do appreciate the tips, stitching illustrations (although some of these are confusing for a true beginner), and the essential/important information underlined for clarity.

I have to admit that I have not actually tried any of the projects, but I have already made a shopping list for 6 of them. I think those with a crafty streak will find that these sock dolls give store-bought beany babies a run for their money! I look forward to giving them as gifts.

5 comments about Hot Wheels Variations The Ultimate Guide (Hot Wheels Variations: The Ultimate Guide).
  1. I just got got this book today and It was more than I expected there were tons and tons of pictures, mr. zarnock give yourself a pat on the back because you did one heke of a job.

  2. If you collect variations of Hot Wheels, you have probably heard of the Godfather of Variations, Michael Zarnock. This guy is nuts about variations and has put together one of the top 3 Hot Wheels collector books ever published. I love the book and have loved it since volume 1 because it has fantastic Blue Card identification pictures and very accurate price guide. If you don't know if a variation is real or fake, just check the Grail, it will let you know if you are dealing with fraud or not. In other words, if it is not in this book you are probably not dealing with a variation. Indispensible to a serious Hot Wheel collector. Gratzi, Don Zarnock.

  3. Awesome very fast shipping. Arrived in excellent condition. Will buy from again. Thanks so much.

  4. I find this book extremely helpful in listing a very large percentage of the current (1989 onwards) Hot Wheels variations. The book follows on from the earlier editions and I find it a very useful refererence source.

  5. This was purchased for our 4 year old who is a major Hot Wheels fan. He and dad pour through the colorful photographs and line up all their cars that match those found in the book. I am sure from a collectors point the information of the value along with the detailed picture would be very useful. It is a nice thick, heavy paged book that will be around this house for a long time.
