  1. A good beginners crafting book. I was disappointed having been involved with crafts of various forms for many years. Some of the ideas are really good and that's why I kept the book. I liked the lapel pins with cards, something very pretty, relatively easy, a good gift or craft show item! Great gift bag ideas, for the holidays especially. I wish it had more ideas for the price, 19.95 seems pretty high for what you get, it's a slim book. I wouldn't order from this publisher or author again.

  1. I am so tired of the way Rockport repackages their older books into new ones. I bought this book, sight unseen, online, and I'm extremely sorry that I did so. This book is a simple republication of projects from three prior Rockport titles: "Stamp Artist's Project Book" and "Stamp Art" both by Sharilyn Miller and "Stamping Tricks for Scrapbooks" by Betty Auth. What a rip-off. They have done this before...republishing projects from old books into compilations, slapping on new covers and selling these as "new" titles. Don't be fooled as I was...avoid buying this book if you have the other titles!

  1. This book has alot on techniques and not just for cards. This book is nice for beginners and more advanced. It gives you many ideas to branch out with. As an avid stamper, I would recommend this book to all.

  2. The projects in this book are shown in beautiful photographs with easy to follow instructions. There are twelve "groups" of projects - one group for each month and each month has a theme. The cards are stunning. As an avid stamper, there were new techniques described that I have not seen at my local stamp stores nor in other books or magazines. If you like to look at beautiful examples for inspiration, then I highly recommend this book.

  3. I am an avid stamper, and PSX used to be the grand dame until I read their demonic angel policy. They are pretty tight with their stamps and what you can do with them and go beyond the, "Just-make-sure-you-hand-stamp-as-opposed-to- reproducing-our-images" policy of other firms. It is hard to sell your work and you can't really donate it to an auction without prior approval. If you enjoy stamping, look into other firms like Magneta or Mirkwood for their stamps and READ THE ANGEL POLICY (limited angel policy is a warning to run!) but definitely buy this book.

  1. This is a wonderful resource, but frankly, for the more "artsy" stamper. I love the projects, techniques, and looks shown here, but if you're looking for clean and simple, this is not it. Not that the techniques are difficult -- they aren't -- it's just that the looks are very elegant. The book shows stamping on everything -- clothes, paper, clay, umbrellas, and more. You can transfer the techniques from these to other media if you know what you are doing and aren't afraid to try something new. Everything from funky to renaissance...Nice stuff, I like it, maybe you will, too.

  1. I was really disappointed when this book came. I was expected a book of creative sayings, but instead got a book of how to place the journaling in your album and different styles to use........really didn't like it, and it wasn't worth the money.

  2. I thought the cover of this book looked darling-Was disappointed to receive it and find that many of the fonts used were not darling at all. I liked a few of the quotes and a few of the fonts, but overall thought the book was something I would not use in my scrapbooks or in my classroom and I found it to be overpriced for what I received.

  1. This book is very visually pleasing. The projects are very pretty and relatively simple. The book only has 15 projects--it seems like too little. Judy Claxton creates lovely items...I just wish they were greater in number and they taught new techniques.

  2. Judy Claxton's book is filled with excellent photos and beautiful work that helps new stampers and crafters make a variety of gift items. As the arts and crafts industry seems to mushroom overnight it is easy to forget that there are still many people who are new to this arena. The techniques covered in the book might not be new or unusual to experienced stampers and crafters, but they still serve as a reminder of how elegant and satisfying these activities can be, as well as representing the range of projects that can be achieved with a few simple materials and concepts. I especially recommend this book as a gift that can keep giving--it would make a nice present to give to a creative friend that has just gotten interested in the wonderful world of stamping.

  1. This a book that puts you in control of the look you want with decorating projects. Whether you are working on placemats or living room walls, there are ideas for making your own stamps out of everything from polymer clay to foam to natural objects.

Looks range from cute country to modern and mica flecked. Photos are very clear and the processes in the projects are described in detail. A source directory is included.

  2. This is a terrific book on using rubber stamp techniques to decorate your home. It shows how practical and creative stamping can be for things other than just making cards. The projects are artistic have a sophisticated look and for the most part they are not too cutesy. Though sophisticated looking, with a little time and patience all the projects are fairly easy to create.

The book starts out with stamping basics such as masking, embossing, purchasing supplies and even making your own simple stamps. Principles of color and design follow. Stamping on various surfaces such as paper, wood, fabric, pottery, glass, clay, metal and leather are next. Then it is all put together in decorating your rooms. There is great information on assessing your room, making samples and working with patterns as well as creating borders, wreaths, and painted floors.

Over 15 projects follow including chest of drawers with elegant swirls, butterfly embossed velvet throw, lemon wall vine, paper mache bowl with leaves, orchard mini-chest and leather portfolio. My favorite project was the gorgeous Africa theme mica collage table. There are excellent step-by-step instructions accompanied by clear demonstrating photos for all the projects. A large photo the finished pieces as well as a complete materials list is also included.

A few patterns and a resource directory are located in the back. This book is a great source of inspiration and ideas for decorating and makes the perfect house-warming gift for the stamper in your life.
