  1. I found this book to be very interesting. It had techiniques i was already familiar with ( creating and ebossed stamp), but it also had sometechiniques like oragami phot corners which i though was so cool to use fo rmy scrapbook on my trip to china. I think it is useful for beginners as they search for various ideas, it is an inspirational book that will help with basic techiniques with stamps and thier versitile uses.

i only gave it three starts b/c it did not wow me the way other books on scrapbooking techniques have and the directions are a little vague in some instances.

  1. A good beginners crafting book. I was disappointed having been involved with crafts of various forms for many years. Some of the ideas are really good and that's why I kept the book. I liked the lapel pins with cards, something very pretty, relatively easy, a good gift or craft show item! Great gift bag ideas, for the holidays especially. I wish it had more ideas for the price, 19.95 seems pretty high for what you get, it's a slim book. I wouldn't order from this publisher or author again.

  1. This is a wonderful resource, but frankly, for the more "artsy" stamper. I love the projects, techniques, and looks shown here, but if you're looking for clean and simple, this is not it. Not that the techniques are difficult -- they aren't -- it's just that the looks are very elegant. The book shows stamping on everything -- clothes, paper, clay, umbrellas, and more. You can transfer the techniques from these to other media if you know what you are doing and aren't afraid to try something new. Everything from funky to renaissance...Nice stuff, I like it, maybe you will, too.

  1. This book has alot on techniques and not just for cards. This book is nice for beginners and more advanced. It gives you many ideas to branch out with. As an avid stamper, I would recommend this book to all.

  2. The projects in this book are shown in beautiful photographs with easy to follow instructions. There are twelve "groups" of projects - one group for each month and each month has a theme. The cards are stunning. As an avid stamper, there were new techniques described that I have not seen at my local stamp stores nor in other books or magazines. If you like to look at beautiful examples for inspiration, then I highly recommend this book.

  3. I am an avid stamper, and PSX used to be the grand dame until I read their demonic angel policy. They are pretty tight with their stamps and what you can do with them and go beyond the, "Just-make-sure-you-hand-stamp-as-opposed-to- reproducing-our-images" policy of other firms. It is hard to sell your work and you can't really donate it to an auction without prior approval. If you enjoy stamping, look into other firms like Magneta or Mirkwood for their stamps and READ THE ANGEL POLICY (limited angel policy is a warning to run!) but definitely buy this book.

  1. I already had Francoise Read's "The Stamper's Bible" when I went looking for anything else she may have written. I purchased the Brilliant Birthdays book solely on her name. I was not disappointed. She creates designs that can be adapted to any stamp. I'm a stamping demonstrator, so her books become the premier part of my reference library.

  1. This a book that puts you in control of the look you want with decorating projects. Whether you are working on placemats or living room walls, there are ideas for making your own stamps out of everything from polymer clay to foam to natural objects.

Looks range from cute country to modern and mica flecked. Photos are very clear and the processes in the projects are described in detail. A source directory is included.

  2. This is a terrific book on using rubber stamp techniques to decorate your home. It shows how practical and creative stamping can be for things other than just making cards. The projects are artistic have a sophisticated look and for the most part they are not too cutesy. Though sophisticated looking, with a little time and patience all the projects are fairly easy to create.

The book starts out with stamping basics such as masking, embossing, purchasing supplies and even making your own simple stamps. Principles of color and design follow. Stamping on various surfaces such as paper, wood, fabric, pottery, glass, clay, metal and leather are next. Then it is all put together in decorating your rooms. There is great information on assessing your room, making samples and working with patterns as well as creating borders, wreaths, and painted floors.

Over 15 projects follow including chest of drawers with elegant swirls, butterfly embossed velvet throw, lemon wall vine, paper mache bowl with leaves, orchard mini-chest and leather portfolio. My favorite project was the gorgeous Africa theme mica collage table. There are excellent step-by-step instructions accompanied by clear demonstrating photos for all the projects. A large photo the finished pieces as well as a complete materials list is also included.

A few patterns and a resource directory are located in the back. This book is a great source of inspiration and ideas for decorating and makes the perfect house-warming gift for the stamper in your life.

  1. This book contains many projects for home decorating and gifts. The full-color photos give the reader creative ideas and enhance the instructions well. The books also contains some history tidbits and some very useful tips to make your stamping experience fun and productive.

  2. this book is now 10 years old. I purchased it on a bargain book site and sadly it's not even worth the bargain price.

While having lovely glossy photos-this book LITERALLY is about stamping on items-and that's the craft of it. Every project is just an item that has been stamped on. No techniques or inventive uses of art materials in new ways.

Unless you have never stamped a stamp in your life, there is NOTHING new this book can teach you. This book is for beginners only. Save your money.
    1 star.

  1. I am new to Rubber Stamping and have bought a few books - this one was by far the best for me as a beginner! It clearly lays out many techniques, gives tips and hints and shows some nice project ideas. The techniques are laid out for each project, but they are easily adapted to whatever project of your own you want to do based on that technique. Not only paper projects, there are many others as well.

  2. Scheffler is the Matisse of the rubber stamp world. She lays out her projects clearly and with skill. Fantastic "rainy day" ideas for kids--and grandma too. If you never though stamping was for you (like me) give this book a browse and you'll want to stamp everything in sight. (I wish my cat were slower!) This book is definitive and indispensible.

  3. I just started rubber stamping and I bought four stamping books for ideas. This was my favorite of the lot. It included several techniques I hadn't heard of before but that were easy for me, as a beginner, to recreate. The photography is beautiful and the instructions are easy to understand.

  4. I am not a expert stamper but have been stamping for awhile. But this book is helpful for people that have been stamping. Its like a Stampers Bible. The outline and pictures are fantastic, as well as the instructions very easy to use from the beginner to advanced. It's one of the best stamping books I have read.

  5. I expected a lot more after referring to other customer reviews. This book is somewhat informative, but the projects depicted were not that exciting. The photos of the projects in the back of the book were nice, but no explanation given as to how they were done...only credits to the artists. I still feel I will need a more in depth, stimulating stamping book for further instructions. Overall, I would not give a recommendation.
