- Very classy stamping ideas in an easy to understand format. An appendix provides information on all the stamps used.
- I recently started stamping cards and was so happy to have this book as one of the first in my library!! I loved the unique, classy designs - easy and fun to do!! The step by step instructions are great and the color pictures are very helpful. I shop at a local Impress store and love it! Each time I go in I have to control myself - they've got more great ideas in the store!!
- I received this book from Amazon just today and was simply thrilled when I browsed through it. I have been rubber stamping for quite sometime now and have wanted to get books with cards that look "professional" (cards that look more like what you buy from stores than those that look like "kid's art"). I find this book to give me the inspiration I need when I want to make a good quality card for someone special. The cards are simple-to-make yet look elegant. A good buy!
- It seems to be a great book for beginners with lots of neat card projects. The book is set out by months of the year and cards you could make that month. The card projects aren't as nice as I was hoping, but they definitely have potential and the instructions are clear and concise. There is even a section at the back of the book that lists stamping resources.
I didn't give it that 5th perfect star because I was hoping the card projects in the book would be nicer and more colourful. I also didn't give it the 5th elusive star because alot of the stamps used in the book are now discontinued and very hard to get a hold of.
- I live in Washington, and spend more time than my husband would like in "Impress", whose owner penned this book.
It is a great book for style and substance..but most of all, starters. The designs are not too complicated for the early - medium crafter, but will require specific tools.Ms. Perkins has great creativity (or a fabulous design team), which is evident in this book - but the suggestions also utilize several items exclusive to the "Impress" line of stamps and products. This fact wasn't as helpful to the friend I sent it to in Hawaii. She really loved the designs, but was apprehensive about spending so much on products and shipping from the author's web store. All in all, I do use this book, and add my own sense of personal style to the building blocks she has laid before us in "Stamping with Style". Worth a look. ~*~

5 comments about Holy Moly Mackeroly! Reflections on the Business of Art and the Art of Life.
- This book was such an inspiration to me and has profoundly influenced my own artistic journey. This isn't merely a card making business how-to book but, rather, it is an inspiring tale of one woman's journey as a writer and an artist and how she found her voice in the art world. Gloria shares with us in an open and honest way the good and the bad of creating cards and making a business of it. Unlike traditional business start-up books, this delves into the emotional side in a very personal way that invites the reader to explore and learn from the experience of a very successful and talented artist. It was a joy to read through this book and I keep referring back to it often for not only for inspiration and insight but, because it is encouraging as well. Every serious artist who is wanting to sell their work for profit should invest in the experience and lessons from someone who has been there and understands oh so well. As an instructor and professional artist myself, I recommend this book to all my students and have given away numerous copies as gifts as well.
- This book offers a lot of ideas, even for people who are not planning to make art their sole source of income.
- If you have ever wanted to carve your own rubber stamps and/or start your own business, this book is a must read. It is very down to earth - no fancy publishing here, but it gets to the heart of what crafters want and need to know about moving from a hobby to a successful national business.
- This book is almost a journal of one woman's journey of taking her art from craft to business. It is packed with wisdom and told warmly from the heart. It is a book to be read and reread... just to make sure you didn't miss anything. This is NOT your traditional how-to book. I totally enjoyed getting to know the author through her writing and riding along with her on her journeys.
- Memoirs can be inspiring. Memoirs can be guides. I looked forward to the arrival of this book. I gave it several opportuinites to catch me...but it never did...not as a guide or as inspiration. I am happy she was so successful. Her step by step coverage, however wasn't pertinent to me. May be the kind of book YOU need to read, if you have very little support otherwise.

1 comments about Stenciling & Embossing Greeting Cards: 18 Quick Creative, Unique & Easy-To-Do Projects.
- I have watched stenciling and dry embossing on many craft shows and wanted to give it a try. This book helped me to do it quite simply and to create some great looking cards. Each card project has a list of the supplies you will need including stencil cream colors and gives you the name of the stencil company, item number of the stencil and where to purchase them. Each sample has step-by-step instructions -- both written and a picture of that step. At the end of each project they show you the card finished. ALL in color. I highly recommend this book to someone who wants easy to follow instructions, a great "visual" of each step and a look at how your finished card is going to look.

1 comments about Storytelling With Rubber Stamps (Scrapbook Storytelling (Series), Bk. 1.).
- If you are interested in both scrapbooking and rubber stamping, this book will greatly assist in combining the two. The techniques are clearly explained and are illustrated in full color. Just leafing through the book, I saw two techniques I'm going to try right away! Also included are "Story Starters" to help get ideas for journaling and lots of tips. One thing I really liked was the examples of borders with goofs; that really helps put the reader at ease with their own work! This book will be extremely helpful to the beginner and to the more advanced scrapbooker/stamper looking for new ideas. I highly recommend this one!

1 comments about Great Impressions: Art & Technique of Rubber Stamping.
- This book may not be for everyone, but I loved it. The book is dedicated to using your own hand carved stamps. Most of the author's stamps are simple designs, yet she shows amazing ways to use the stamps. The book stretches your creative mind and makes you think beyond the simple cards, designs, etc. Technique for carving is shown as well as how to use the stamps. A great book for stampers who want to go beyond the limits of ready made stamps. Even if you don't feel like carving your own stamps, this book will show you new and creative ways to use rubber stamps in your projects. I highly recommend this book!

5 comments about The Complete Guide to Rubber Stamping: Design and Decorate Gifts and Keepsakes (Watson-Guptill Crafts).
- This book is excellent for anyone. The pictures are fantastic and Grace Taormina knows how to stamp anything. She is a excellent teacher, and buying this book will certainly be helpful in learning how to stamp.
- i use this book as a reference for when i am going to teach a stamping class. it has everything you need for the beginner and is full of fun techniques for the advanced stamper to relearn and to re-do some of their own art. i recommend this book to every stamper especially beginners.
- This book is great for beginners who are still figuring out the differences between the many ink choices out there (a valid question!) and they will certainly find valuable information within these pages.
Those with a little more experience or advanced stampers will likely not find the inspiration for their next great project.
- This is the first stamping book I've ever purchased. I'm very happy with my purchase it and highly recommend it! For each project, she clearly explains how to accomplish it; as well as, providing very nice pictures throughout the book!!
- This is a great book, it covers everything in an interesting way. Has beautiful pictures, with some great projects with each new technique you learn. If you want to buy just one stamping book, this is the one. Also, shows you how to use stamping on more than just paper.

5 comments about Rubber Stamping for the first time (For The First Time).
- I am new to Rubber Stamping and have bought a few books - this one was by far the best for me as a beginner! It clearly lays out many techniques, gives tips and hints and shows some nice project ideas. The techniques are laid out for each project, but they are easily adapted to whatever project of your own you want to do based on that technique. Not only paper projects, there are many others as well.
- Scheffler is the Matisse of the rubber stamp world. She lays out her projects clearly and with skill. Fantastic "rainy day" ideas for kids--and grandma too. If you never though stamping was for you (like me) give this book a browse and you'll want to stamp everything in sight. (I wish my cat were slower!) This book is definitive and indispensible.
- I just started rubber stamping and I bought four stamping books for ideas. This was my favorite of the lot. It included several techniques I hadn't heard of before but that were easy for me, as a beginner, to recreate. The photography is beautiful and the instructions are easy to understand.
- I am not a expert stamper but have been stamping for awhile. But this book is helpful for people that have been stamping. Its like a Stampers Bible. The outline and pictures are fantastic, as well as the instructions very easy to use from the beginner to advanced. It's one of the best stamping books I have read.
- I expected a lot more after referring to other customer reviews. This book is somewhat informative, but the projects depicted were not that exciting. The photos of the projects in the back of the book were nice, but no explanation given as to how they were done...only credits to the artists. I still feel I will need a more in depth, stimulating stamping book for further instructions. Overall, I would not give a recommendation.

5 comments about Stamp Artistry: Combining Stamps with Beadwork, Carving, Collage, Etching, Fabric, Metalwork, Painting, Polymer Clay, Repousse, and More.
- This Instructional Project Book offers wonderful projects by today's renowned top artists in stamping, clay, collage, etc. However typographical errors distract from the step-by-step instructions.
Xyron is one of the most "top of mind" brands in the Arts and Crafts industry, but was referred to as Zyron several times throughout the book. I noticed misspelled words such as Dall instead of Doll and poor sentence structure. I do not blame the author, but the Publishing House for proofreading errors. This shows lack of knowledge and details for the art form in which they are representing. When I buy a book of this price point and with step-by-step instructions I expect top-notch editing!!!!
- This book is delightfully full of creative uses of rubber stamps by talented artisans in many mediums. The author has explained every project in easy-to-understand terms. Projects are separated into sections, such as "for the home," which makes it easy to select a project, and each section has a well-written introduction by the author. I didn't find one project I didn't like or wouldn't want to reproduce. The photography is wonderful! Any little petty glitches, which you'll find in any book, are easily overlooked because of the innovative subject matter and the masterful photos. (Even the revered "Chicago Manual of Style" has typos!) If you want something a little different, this is the book I recommend. It's worth every penny I spent on it, and I look forward to more great books by the author!
- Overflowing with ideas and insider technique tips, Rice and friends present us with bountiful inspiration in this enthusiastic, well-illustrated book. It's not just a must-read but a must-OWN if you're involved with paper and fiber arts. The tip about silk screen ink (for art on fabric) saved me weeks of reinventing the wheel, and that's just one very small note in a book chock FULL of fabulous ideas and projects. Thank you, Rice!
- I have taken classes from Rice' and every class has taught me something new and inspired me creatively. I'm an experienced editor and agree better proof reading was needed but her examples and information and her association with other artists included in the book are the most important reason for buying it. If her name is on a book, buy it. She has a new book coming out in October 2004 and I am anxious to buy it too.
- this book is awesome! there are so many projects and all of the doable! the colors, patterns, media and all the embellishments used make you want to do the projects. this one is a keeper for me.
