  1. This is a must-have book for serious stamper's. Nancy's techniques are very detailed and creative. You'll be surprised how many supplies you have on hand and around the house when trying her techniques. I've read the book twice and I've tried all her techniques. Believe me you will not be able to put this book down. Definitely a stamper's bible!!

  2. This is not merely a picture book, nor is it a long-winded teaching book. The teaching is there, done via a series of projects which involve the reader in using the techniques. I love the clear way the content is provided. And I like it that Ms Curry gives her preferences, and reasons, for specific products. Altogether a great book.

  3. This book has fun ideas shown in steps and in color! There are 40 projects with material lists and great texture effects that most anyone can accomplish. Very easy to follow the directions and some projects even have variations for additional ideas!

  4. New approch for rubber stamping with great usages and provides every step for doing them. I love it.

  5. A beautiful book on using texture in paper crafts (not just in card making).

This book goes beyond being a "basic rubber stamping book",which is why I bought this book. I have been taking paper crafting classes for a few years and it's good to have a book like this one on hand because many of the techniques shown in this book are used in the "upper-level stamping classes" I've taken.

So often I have taken a paper craft class and then after a few years I've forgotten how to create a certain texture. Well, this book is great because it will often jog my memory of those upper-level classes that require skill and detail---BEYOND just inking a rubber stamp and slapping the design on paper.

In order to create a card or picture with color and texture, it's good to know the techniques shown by Ms. Curry in this book. Then, after practicing these "texturizing techniques", an artist can apply his or her own style to their art product.

  1. Again, Sherrill has produced a book worth examining for wonderful pictures, and step-by-step techniques. My greatest concern is once again finding the trademarked material TYVEK utilized in craft work. The makers of TYVEK specifically have stated it is never to be heated or used other than for what it is specifically designed for. Deathly toxic, once more it is appalling to find it used with a 'heat outdoors' statement attached. Does the company know this material is being used this way??? As an art educator I must not only be aware of this safety info for myself but for my students. Poor editing let this one slip by.

  2. If you love rubber stamping and painting on fabric, you need just two books: this one and the author's first, Creating with Paint. I have both books and love them equally-and, more importantly--I USE them extensively in my own artwork.
I have also taken two workshops with the author, Sherrill Kahn, and highly recommend them. Take a workshop with Sherrill if you can! She's a very encouraging, supportive and inspiring teacher, and all of these qualities come across in her two books.
One of my favorite aspects of Creative Stamping is that Sherrill shows you in step-by-step photos how she layers dyes, paint and stamping techniques to arrive at her highly complex fabrics. It's easy once you see how she does it, and that's why Creative Stamping is a must-have for any fabric painters library.
Lots of information, inspiration, and some great how-to projects make Creative Stamping well worth the investment.
Check out Sherrill's web site: www.impressmenow.com.

  3. Creative Stamping with Mixed Media Techniques is another valuable resource and creative inspiration book from Sherrill Kahn. Both books by Ms. Kahn are full of outstanding photographs to inspired dozens of mixed media adventures. Her work is bold and colorful, and incorporates numerous mixed media techniques that are easily accessible to all readers. There are dozens of project ideas in the book that will satisfy crafters, and even more valuable are the demonstrations of painting and stamping techniques that readers can explore and adapt to their own artwork and projects.

  4. If you love stamping and sewing like I do, this is the book for you. Clearly written and leads you to your own creativity!

  5. Sherrill has no fear of color therefore her books always just 'grab' me. Techniques are new and interesting.

  1. Anyone involved with creating jewelry will do well to buy this book. Sharilyn has compiled a project gallery with 20 inspiring art jewelry techniques for the novice or the advanced jewelry artist, with complete directions, clear and concise photos, and basic jewelry-making materials. The techniques and tips on rubber stamping, polymer clay embellishments, fiber art embellishments, shrink plastic embellishments and other creative embellishments are about the best you can possibly get. Included are a gallery of innovative Art Jewelry by other notable Jewelry artists in this field. A gem of a book!

  2. Well written, easy to understand with lots of great tips on techniques but the best was the fantastic projects. I wanted to make them all at once. It is like a big sister to scrapbooking giving you a chance to use your stamps for other purposes. Thank you Sharilyn Miller

  3. Lots of ideas well supported with clear instructions for the techniques required. I was particularly impressed with how well the techniques were illustrated. This is a real plus for clarifying text.

  4. I am not a rubber stamper but I used to own a lot of them. Now that I have read this book, I really wish that I had held on to them! I am inspired by the author's use of a craft tool in a totally unexpected way. It makes me want to rush out and get new rubber stamps and try them to make some great looking one of a kind jewelry! Sharilyn Miller is a highly respected jewelry designer, and her books are always filled with great how-tos and super pictures. Who knew that rubber stamps could be so cool?

  5. I bought this as a book to get me started with some basics. The first section is very detailed on basics other than stamping - some of which came in handy and I used immediately. I like the projects - although some are a little intimidating - such as the polymer clay projects - as I've never used that medium before. A little on the advanced side.

  1. I had the priviledge to meet the author at Stampfest in Orlando this summer when I took her watercolor class using rubber stamps. Kathie is a wonderful teacher so I was excited to buy her book when it was finally published. I can honestly say it has surpassed my expectations!! I have been addicted to card making and rubber stamping for just over 2 years now so I've read many books and magaiznes on papercrafts and this is by far one of the best books I've come across! The book is full of beautiful projects and full of color photographs with step-by-step instructions that a beginner can easily follow but the book also has projects that will appeal to more experienced stampers as well. This is a great book for both learning and will provide inspiration as well. I'm giving it as a gift to my rubber-stamping friends this holiday season. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in rubber stamping!!

5 comments about Art Stamping Workshop: Create Hand-Carved Stamps for Unique Projects on Paper, Fabric, Polymer Clay and More.
  1. I have always wanted to make my own art stamps but never knew how or where to begin. Thanks to Art Stamping Workshop, all of my questions have been answered! After reading this fabulous book, I was able to create a stamp from items I had around the house. Gloria's instructions are easy to follow and the photos clearly show how each step is supposed to look as you go along. Gloria Page makes stamp carving easy and FUN! The variety of projects in this book are different from anything I have seen in other stamping books and are easily adaptable to any style.

  2. If you are interested in learning how to carve your own art rubber stamps then you need this book as well as The Weekend Crafter:Rubber stamp carving.

Both books provide clear cut instructions on how to carve your own stamps to make artistic and fun stamps that are one of a kind. But this book is much better of the two and I'd suggest this one if you can only buy one book on the subject of stamp carving.
The projects in this book are lovely, artistic and not cutesy or cookie cutter similar to everything out there. You will easily be able to begin carving right away with this book alone. Well worth the 15 bucks here on Amazon! I recommend it.
    5 stars!

  3. If you need some inspiration, I strongly advise reading this book. Before reading the book, I didn't understand and was very intimdated about carving. After reading Art Stamping Workshop, I am now carving and printmaking!! I also teach this form of art in various schools and art stores.

One of the reasons I advise my students and online members to read this book, is because it is both teachable and progressive. It is an excellent book to study for classes, workshops, and personal study. With each technique, Gloria Page teaches in a way that you are bound to understand, and you are not left in the dark or in confusion in any way.

In an online group that I host -Artists of the Round Table- we read this book from cover to cover, and tried each of the projects. "ALL" of the member LOVED it.....adults, as well as the children!!! Gloria Page was kind enough to make herself available during the workshop to answer any questions, and to give advise and commendation. What an "encouragement" this was to the members studying her book!

Loving author.....AWESOME book. A perfect combination!

    Sincerely,
    ~Jacqueline F. Graham

  4. It's a neat book. But I need to work at doing more stamps more often.

  5. This book is my new stamp carving bible! The projects are inspiring and there are no hard to find tools required. Thanks to the detailed instructions carving a stamp from an eraser is easier than carving a pumpkin. A great book.

  1. Worth every penny. Packed with hundreds of techniques, variations on techniques, ideas, samples. Every time I open it I find something new. Instructions and supply lists clear and complete. I do wish supply list was printed in black ink instead of soft orange but it's ok.

  2. This book is exceptionally great because you're doing more than just rubber stamping, it's rubber stamping and beyond.

The book is well done, has lots of ideas and explains each creation very well. It's a big book and well worth the money. I bought the Quick and Clever Handmade Cards book along with this, it's not done as well and has less ideas and doesn't explain well either.

If you like variety and something different, but easy to do, I highly recommend this book!

  3. What a wonderful book! A variety of techniques are well described, the layout is pleasing, and the photos clear. Even if you don't need the how-to instruction offered, the book is worth the price just for the card design ideas. My aging eyes would be happier if the Materials List was printed in black or dark brown ink rather than the chosen orange-yellow ink, but heck, the cards are beautiful!

  4. I love making cards - so I go to the bookstore not to buy books to read but to see what's new in the craft department.
I am usually dispappointed with their collection. I finally came across this book and it is absolutely wonderful. The ideas and tips are great. It's full of beautiful illustrations and easy to follow.
You gotta get this book - it IS A TREASURE.

  5. Nice big pictures and all in one place. I have tons of Magazines that I have been keeping that this book replaces.

  1. The Rubber Stamper's Bible

Very good book. I wish I knew about it when I started stamping two years ago. If you are just starting to stamp, it explains the differnt inks, cardstocks, tools, techniques, etc. which would have been such an asset instead of my learning bits and pieces at a time. I would have at least knew what people were talking about.

  2. One of the most wonderful books for Stampers.
Very clear and great to have.

  3. I just received this book today and read it cover to cover. It has everything. It's well organized, lists items you need to create a project, has step-by-step directions and tips. The pictures show you the process and gave me many ideas to copy. This is a beautifully presented book. You can't go wrong with Francoise Read's book.

  4. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. By far the best book I have seen on the subject.

  1. This book is a must-have for serious scrapbookers who are always on the search for page titles. I have owned this book for over a year, and I have used it for inspiration dozens of times. Even if it doesn't have the "perfect words" for my page, I can usually tweak the ideas to make them perfect. Definitely worth the buy.

  2. Great resource for scrapbooking! Has great quotes and titles for use with those "hard to find the right words" scrapbooking pages....has a wide variety of subjects and topics too! Highly recommend!

  3. Love this book. I keep it handy for all my creativity blocks. I shared it with a friend who loved it so much she's getting one too. Use it just once and it will have paid for itself. Well organized and covers all the topics.

  4. This book covers everything that you will ever need to use to journal or find a title. It is worth every penny.

  5. I love this book! I have used it over and over for my scrapbooks, for the "blank" greeting cards I purchase, for notes to my children, and bulletin board topics for my classroom! I especially love the friendship and volunteer quotes. A wonderful, organized and varied arrangement of inspiration!
