1. I recently bought a copy of this out-of-print shortwave radio handbook, and though I've been a listener for over 25 years, there is a lot of information about the hobby that I can really use here.
   
   If you're new to shortwave radio, the chapters on propogation and receivers will naturally be helpful, but there's much more here than the basics. From identifying languages to obtaining QSLs from stations large and small to how to arrange your listening post, everything that a SWL or DXer needs to know is discussed.
   
   There are a few things outdated (it was published in 1986, after all), like the Russian Woodpecker Radar System. Still, if you have a shortwave receiver and really want to get the most out of it, find a copy from a used bookseller and learn from the experts!

1. I read that book. It's a very nice for pratice for Ham Radio. I use this book in classrooms. These studants loves it, because in the test for habilitation they was facilites a lot. I have a first edition and I buy that book in the ARLL. The ARRL is a very old league for Radio Amateur in the word. That book is a manual for beginner's and advanced, with many aids about kinds of kinds for pratice in the "aether", for the Ham's. I love this book. Is my best book for Radio. It's easy.

1. The ARRL handbook is always good. I got it NOT for the new technology, but for reference information (like: how much power can you pull down a given size/length of wire with how much loss [think in ohms/ft], and it is rated different depending on sheathing, in conduit, etc) rather than the 'new' information on chips and their use.
   
   A good reference book.
