1. This book provided an excellent intro into ALL radio, not just shortwave. The book title ignores the fact that the book deals with HAM and Scanner radio. Also, it was a bit elementary, but was filled with lots of helpful explanations and references. For a novice like me it was perfect! Well worth the read.



2. If you're new to hobby radio, this is THE perfect book to take to the beach and read. Being essentially a "crash survey course" on most things radio, you'll know everything you need to get started with a very small investment in time.

   This slim volume is by no means a comprehensive guide on everything related to shortwave. It's more the "jump start" to get your motor running. Should you find your interest in listening to far-away places increased after reading her book, I would recommend Harry Helms' "Shortwave Listening Guidebook" as an ideal second book on the subject.

1. An excellent practical book on designing simple low power ham transmitters and receivers. A little short in design theory but a good book nonetheless. Read Chris Bowick's RF Circuit Design book for more theoretical info. If you want to build simple radios and want them to work, this is the book for you.



2. This is still an enjoyable and interesting resource book for the builder and experimenter. Full of interesting circuits and ideas.
   
   Although, I would not consider this book indispensible for the QRP building enthusiast( I'd reserve that for- The Electronic Data Book for Homebrewers and QRPers by NA5N. Try KANGA US ); I would nonetheless recomend it.
   
   Price is right, very readable, does generate interest in building- has a place in my liabrary.



3. This QRP Book by Doug Demaw is a very practical and thorough explanation about Basic and Radio Frequency Electronics for everyone. Doug Demaw has left a Legacy of excellent books for Radio Amateurs and Electronic experimeters. You can learn about Electronics, Build and Test Circuits. Get a Ham license, Learn how from ARRL. 1. This book is great. I personally knew Mr Bill cheek before he passed on. This book has more info than the average person would use. You must be hardcore to do the mods and have very good eyes. I would make it a point to get his scanner modification hand books 1 and 2 and also buy cheek 3. With theese books you are armed with alot of knowledge...
