1. I was a little bit thrown off by the title of this book, when I picked it up I assumed that it would be mostly very difficult sudoku puzzles. Actually, it's a variety of levels, which is totally fine by me. I enjoy more difficult puzzles when I have time to sit down and work through the whole thing (sometimes 2 or 3 times, if I mess it up), and I enjoy easier puzzles for coffee breaks and other times when I only have 10 or 15 minutes.
   
   These are hand-developed Sudoku, and they actually do feel a little bit different to work out than computer-generated ones. In any case, this is a great collection.



2. Open questions to all Sudoku publishers: If I'm doing Sudoku on a train or plane, do I want to carry a book with 900 puzzles? If I need to erase frequently, do I want a book printed on cheap newsprint that gets holes after one erasure? Or one where the reverse images of numbers on the opposing page show through the paper and confuse me? No, no, no. Gould's sudoku books are for people like me, who want small compact puzzle books on good clear paper.



3. This book only has 100 puzzles, and for the $8.95 price, it's just not worth it. The puzzles are all levels, not just the more difficult as the title implies. You can get twice the number of puzzles (100 difficult and 100 very challenging)for $6.95 from "Let's Play Sudoku - Over the Edge" by Will Shortz. If you want simpler puzzles, there are 2 easier books of 200 puzzles each in the Will Shortz series, both for $6.95 each as well. I've learned that when a book item description like Grand Master Su Doku doesn't list the number of pages or puzzles, that's a red flag that it's not a good value. If it was a good value, they would list it as a selling point!

1. David Anson Russo's incredibly beautiful high detailed scenes featuring countries around the world are chock filled with icons the reader must find. The reader must find more and more with each consecutive spread of art. This book accomplishes something the "waldo" book never came close to on an artistic level. All of our daughter's friends(boys too) love the book, and spend hours with it on play dates. Best of all parents, it works wonders on long car rides. Plus, there is a "not in your face" geography lesson built into the book. We highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the interactive seek/find experience. We've bought several for friends' kids over the years, all with rave reviews. When she's asleep at night, I like to sneak over and play the book too!
