- Folded fighter planes that actually fly? I guess that is any kid's dream. Well, I guess you can still say that I am still a kid, (I'm only 14) but and I love the many planes that can be folded from this book. With many precise illustrations and detailed folding instructions, making a full squadron of planes reminicent of F-4 Phantoms and F-106 Delta Darts is at your control. Truly a great book for any paper pilot.
- I bought this book because I have a few others by Thay Yang (didn't know the other authors until this book).
This book has just over 40 airplane designs, starting from simple ones that anybody can fold leading up to fairly complex planes that require some practice or origami knowledge. This book is well worth finding a copy of since it covers ALL skill levels of folding. There is a wide variety of techniques used in this book, so it is great for learning new methods to design your own airplanes.
- This book is sweet over 40 designs 3 authors 1 is a sciencetist he scientifically designs another is a Plane archetech and he designs them too last ont is a archetech an he makes the scientist's and the plane architech's ideas
- This paper airplane book (and John M. Collin's other book "Return to the Fold", who he co-authored with Don Garwood and Thay Yang) is by far the (two) best book(s) that teaches how to fold paper airplanes. The graphics and text are clear and easily comprehended. What's more, you don't need scissors, glue or even the ready-made, glitzy, instruction sheets included in other books. Indeed, as you advance through the book, the folds become more and more difficult and require some practice, but once you learn the proper way of holding your fingers and applying the right amount of pressure, the folds naturally fall into place. It's like magic. After that the process becomes intuitive. And the planes ACTUALLY fly!...They do!

5 comments about Origami Page-A-Day Calendar 2007 (Page a Day Calendar).
- I like to fold one origami a day!! It will be a gift for next Xmas!
- My daughter loves this calendar. Some are too difficult but she can do most of the origami. 10 and up.
- I love this calendar!
I have it at work and take time out of my day every day to do one of the 'sculptures'. Sometimes I can get it right away, other times I have to put it down and come back to it several times.
Makes me think I have an actual skill.
- This is an easy-to-follow origami guide in calendar form. My son is 7 and can easily follow the illustrated directions. My only complaint is that the pages come off a bit too easily (particularly if you are using the table of contents to jump ahead to a particular origami). I punched holes and put the entire calendar in binding clips so we can easily go backward or forward.
- This has saved my sanity at work. I do the folding while the coffee is brewing and the activity really centers me. I used to be so keyed up and stressed out, even from the getgo, each morning. This calms me down, allows me to focus and relax, then to tackle the day. The few days that I have missed doing this have been nightmares, so I am now very superstitious and have turned religious about this. I am planning to buy about 20 of these (2008s)for Christmas gifts at the end of the year. I recommend this for everyone.

1 comments about Paper Toy Making (Dover Novelty Books & Popular Recreations).
- This book has a collection of origami patterns. Most are simple. There are even instructions for a paper airplane. A few like lily are more complex. I am decent at origami. I have bought other books but this is one of the two that I return to again and again over time.
I think the reason this book continues to be useful even though I now have more skill in origami, is because these designs are fun. Folding a paper drinking cup out of a piece of paper is very simple, but it is good to know if you are at a PTA type social function and have run out of cups. Other designs like water bomb have an almost purely evil function. (Well if you are clever you can fold and inflate it with a small gift trapped inside.) Most of the designs are just simple little toys, including flowers and animals. They can all be folded quickly and used to make a passed note look cute for extra cheering-someone-up. Any of these patterns can be memorized after folding it several times, so they are good to do on the spur of the moment.
This is a very good book to use if you are just starting out in origami and want a general book of patterns. The diagrams and instructions are clear and easy to follow. This book taught me origami basics to build on.

1 comments about Origami in the Classroom Book 2: Activities for Winter Through Summer (Origami in the Classroom).
- The second in a series of two books designed for classroom utilization. The book has a series of projects that have been adapted to American events and holidays. The second book includes projects for Washington's Birthday, St. Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, and for variety a penguin, clowns, and a crab. The book is unique in that it states the appropriate grade level; lower, middle, and upper as well as the required time for completing each project. The written instruction are easy to follow. This book would be appropriate for children seven years and older.
