1 comments about Painting Miniature Military Figures (A Schiffer Book for Hobbyists).
- This book is not about how to paint military miniatures. It is about how ONE modeller paints ONE resin figure(scale not even given.) Instead of lots of figuresand lots of insight, you just get numerous photos ofthe same damn figure from a slightly different cameraangle. Another Davidson/Schiffler ripoff, I fear

3 comments about Making Miniatures: In 1/12 Scale.
- To start a dollhouse may seem discouraging for many people when you think about the time it takes to finish such a project. Here are the ideas how to do just one room box, but still create the atmosphere that you want in a miniature. This may inspire the beginner to really start with a project to try his/her new hobby, but it is also a great source for the advanced hobbyist to try for a real masterpiece. I can only highly recommend this book to everybody who is into 1/12 scale.
- Venus and Martin Dodge have produced (what I feel) are the most beautiful books on the skills of making miniature scenes, dolls and accessories. My first project was the kitchen in this book. It turned out beautifully. I cannot stress enough how realistic their roomboxes are. Have a great time creating!
- I've used this book as a reference on how to make clay tiles for roofing and flooring. It has other good tips on designing rooms, and information on making the furniture in the rooms. The furniture is way beyond my ability to make, but it's still a lovely book.

1 comments about The Authentic Georgian Dolls' House.
- I need more than 5 stars to adequately describe just how good this book is. If you are even remotely considering building and/or decorating a Georgian or Regency dollshouse, you must purchase this book. It fills many gaps left by other books of its kind - where else would you learn how to build an authentic fire crane and spitjack for the kitchen, a service crane and lamp snuffer for the front fence, and downpipes progressively dated? His attention to period accuracy is unsurpassed, covering the development of items such as the kitchen range and toilet through the age and a host of other important features. Brian Long has saved me weeks of research, thoroughly exploring every room and household function and the associated equipage, which is a particular boon for builders of this kind of house who live outside of England. Although he gives many useful suggestions for doing your own research, all but the most particular of dollshouse perfectionists will not need any other source. Plans for several houses are included, (including the one on the cover)although many builders would also need some prior experience and a good book devoted to the topic. I wish a book like this existed for every period. Brian, if you're reading, please start planning a library of these. Begin with the Tudor period and just keep going!

1 comments about Miniature Painting: A Complete Guide to Techniques, Mediums, and Surfaces.
- Terrific book for learning how to paint miniatures (great step-by-step instructions with illustrations,) and also learning the interesting history of the medium. Although I myself am a long-time artist of miniatures, I picked up a lot of tips and tricks.

5 comments about Making and Dressing Dolls' House Dolls in 1/12 Scale.
- I love this book! The patterns and instructions are detailed and clear. Beautiful photographs.
- Making and Dressing Dolls' House Dolls in 1/12 Scale by Sue Atkinson is an absolute beauty of a book! I truly go with the advice of another reviewer, the book is marvelous just for the photos alone! The dolls and dresses are a feast for the eyes. I have never had the honor of viewing such a pleasurable book.
- This is a great book with tips, hints, patterns, easy-to-follow instructions, and lots of great photographs. Anyone from beginner to advanced can learn from and use this book.
- This is the most useful book possible for anybody interested in making dollhouse dolls and dressing them appropriately and authentically. Everything is covered in this very practical book. Directions are clear. Materials are shown and described, and all the steps are illustrated clearly. Very highly recommended.
- I use this book all the time, for both dressing miniature dolls as well as a reference for historic periods and the fashions popular for a particular era. There was one thing I wasn't crazy about when I first got this book. The drawings for the patterns as well as the color photographs of completed dressed dolls are almost never on the same page as the intructions for sewing a particular pattern. I now have about a dozen little markers in my book to make it easier for me to quickly find what I need when I'm working on a doll. I also felt that a few more sources as to where to acquire the necessary materials for doll dressing should have been included. The book, with those exceptions mentioned above, is overall very good and extremely helpful. It's one of the only ones available with such detail on dressing 1/12 dolls.
