4 comments about Pearls (Fred Ward Gem Series).
- I don't know what impressed me more, the spectacular photography or the effortless and fascinating way Fred Ward helped me understand pearls. He takes the mystery out of buying pearls. I will not buy pearls again without reviewing this book.
- This book with 62 pages explains everything you need to know about Pearls. In addition to the knowledge of pearl for a consumer, this book also goes into great details in the trade of pearls. It covers the geographic sources of pearls, the competitive producers, and logical prediction of future market.
I enjoyed it a great deal.
- great pictures and interesting information. I enjoyed this book. It packs a lot of interesting information in a small, easy to read, book.
- It's a small book yet it covers an amazing amount of information on the history of pearls, the environment under which they are cultivated, the buying and caring of the different qualities, and other fascinating topics. If someone is "into" pearls, then this is the book to have.

1 comments about Bead: Handmade Style (Handmade Style (Thunder Bay Press)).
- Beautifully illustrated throughout with photographic images of exquisite beaded jewelry, Elizabeth Bower's "Beads: Handmade Style" offers an impressive compendium of projects, each with their own materials list and step-by-step instructions. "Beads" offers a series of truly 'user friendly' beading projects that include jeweled gift-wrapping, chain necklaces, clip-on earrings, beaded flowers, evening bags, drop cluster earrings, beaded tablecloths, brooches, holiday decorations, belts, shoe jewelry, cuffs, a lantern candle holder, tassels, and a beaded curtain. A marvelous compendium of beading projects, "Bead: Handmade Style" is an enthusiastically recommended addition to any personal or community library Crafts reference collection.

1 comments about Holiday Moods in Wire: An Extended Guide to the Fine Art of Wire Wrapping.
- This book focuses only on Christmas, with projects such as candy canes, Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, icicles and ornaments. It does put a nice spin on wire wrapping, extending it away from personal decoration and toward home decorations. I would have given it 3½ stars if I could because of the very different approach it takes.
The book offers the same convenience found in Sinclair's Moods in Wire : An Extended Guide to the Fine Art of Wirewrapping (2nd Ed) but with less variety and mostly simpler projects.
This book is not for everyone. It offers little eye candy. Color photos are limited to the front cover and section headings. Projects use line art to illustrate (helpful but not lovely). Don't get this as a primary wire wrapping resource.

1 comments about Gems and Jewelry: All Color Guide.
- There are an awful lot of fantasy writers who would benefit in reading, if not this book, then one very like it. But that's not a recommendation.
I had the first edition, lost it, discovered the 2nd edition, was happy. Even if you're not a gem-shopper (I'm not), the book's worth it for the zillions of full-color photographs alone: you can *see* what all these gemstones look like. Arem discusses carats vs. karats, gem-cutting, mining, trivia and lore on various gemstones...a lot. There are other books on the same subject, of course, but this one's a decent survey.
