- One thing lacking is a color picture of all designs to assist in glass selection.

5 comments about Standard Encyclopedia of Carnival Glass Price Guide (Standard Carnival Glass Price Guide).
- This book is useless if you do not know a lot about carnival glass. I was very disappointed, it was a waste of money for a beginning collector!
- I had no problem finding any of the patterns that I was looking for. Having only been collecting carnival glass for about three years, I found the book to be informative and a great referance to fall back on if I was unsure of something. This book was one of the best purchases that I have made when it comes to referance books.
- The cover on the books says it all. It is a price guide but I was looking for a picture book.
- From tumblers and bowls to advertising pieces, specialty items from glass workers, and notes on manufacturing credits and oddities, Standard Encyclopedia of Carnival Glass, eleventh edition is an outstanding survey of carnival glass makers and their products. Identification of pieces is the focus here; each piece accompanied by a small yet clear color photograph, and a separate price guide offers no photos but plenty of pricing details. A superb choice for collectors of carnival glass.
- The book title is a bit deceiving. The cover does say, "Standard Encyclopedia of Carnival Glass". What part of 'encyclopedia' did I miss? This is nothing more than cheap paper with a long list of designs. If you ever hope to identify anything, this is not the book for you. Personally, I thought an 'encyclopedia' might help me identify, but not a single picture. My book now resides at the paper recycling dump. It really is that worthless.

- This book is great. I only wish the pictures were real pictures and not just drawings. I know it would be hard to find and publish all the the patterns, but in her next book, maybe she could print actual pictures of what she can find. I'd pay more for a bigger book.
- Of all the books on cut glass this is about the worst. The only good thing about it is the pieces are ordered by style (bowl, goblet, plate, etc.). The line drawings are only mediocre. There are very, very few pieces and manufacturers in it (a couple hundred).
Save your money, look elsewhere.
- I wasnt really impressed with this book.
I was because I am an amature when it comes to cut glass. I was disapointed because the pictures are like drawings, not actual pictures.
I am happy however, because there is such a book on the market. the patterns are easy to compare and see whats what.

4 comments about Masterpieces of Art Nouveau Stained Glass Design: 91 Motifs in Full Color (Dover Pictorial Archive Series).
- Nice plates with dimensions. Good for projects and for idea's. I highly reccomend it.
- Though some of the designs are nice, most are way too busy for my taste, and I wouldn't really call them Art Nouveau. Quite a few of them look more like Renaissance style stained glass, and some of them look modern (like the sailboat patterns?). It is in color, though, which is nice. Very complicated - definately not for beginning stained glass crafters.
- Originally, this was a pair of portfolios of designs in the Art Nouveau period. Art Nouveau was not just twisty flowers, though some people like to stereotype it into those narrow parameters. This is not a how-to book with cutting patterns. It has only the paintings with suggested scale. On a few pages, motifs overlap each other, so you can't just scan and go: you have to build up your idea of the covered areas. One pictorial arched piece is missing the right third, again a challenge to finish it yourself.
The designs range from splendidly romantic conceptions of floral forms to windows a-scamper with squirrels or lizards to some that are distinctly eerie. Bats fly across the moon amidst dead trees. A woman combs her hair before a volcano flowing lava. An octopus and a sea-weed maiden struggle underwater--in combat? in love? Several have fishes and there are even cat designs. You don't have to see these only as windows. I've converted two to rug designs by taking out the excess black lines of supports or piecing necessary to glass work. You may want to take only one area out of an entire design to render in wood, or do a mosaic version of the whole thing. This is a starting point for the competent craftsman who loves the Art Nouveau energy, not an end product.
- If you can't find a design you can use for inspiration, you're just not looking hard enough. Not for beginners since the designs are incredibly intricate, but your creativity will wake up and take notice.

3 comments about Tiffany Stained Glass Windows: in Full-Color (Post) Cards: 24 Cards (Card Books).
- It isn't at first apparent from the listing that this is a book of postcards. I found it very valuable because I also bought Eaton's "Tiffany Windows: Stained Glass Pattern Book". Although colored examples were given for them, the Tiffany designs are complicated. 15 or 16 of the postcards were duplicate designs that were in the Eaton book. I use the images for computer application and they helped me a lot to choose the right colors.
- This is a companion book, as it's glossy postcards. I spent an afternoon at my local frame shop & framed 6 of the cards, they are very attractive as smaller framed images. The images are sharp (although small) & the colors seem to be pretty true to what the windows would actually look like. I'm pleased with the results of my afternoon & glad I had a chance to read the previous review to know these were postcards.
- Was looking for good color photos of some of Tiffany's work. This book did not disappoint. The illustrations here have excellent detail that I didn't see for some of the works published elsewhere.

3 comments about Art Deco Stained Glass Pattern Book (Picture Archives).
- I was disappointed to find that there were no color suggestions for any of the designs in the book. Also, the presentation of the drawings made the book look like a children's coloring book. Several of the designs would make nice stained glass projects despite the presentation.
- True, at first it does look a little like a coloring book but that's the fun of it. Why does everyone always need examples? What happened to using your imagination? This is a form of art. This book gives you the room to make decisions about the colors and textures of glass you want to use, which is what I like about it. Actual stained glass artists create their own color combinations. In order to preserve these type of books the pattern is photocopied and then each section is cut out so you have a template to use to cut out the glass. If anyone's worried about color then just do what others do. Either use colored pencils to color the pattern so you have an idea of what it will look like or pic out glass that appeals to you. It's really not that hard.
- This book is exactly what it claims and perfectly fit my needs. The designs are lovely, effective and quite usable.

2 comments about Tiffany (Special Edition).
- This is truly the most fabulous book on Tiffany's works, including many illustrations of works not previously seen. As a Tiffany book collector, I know that Nuestadt's book may have more lamps illustrated, but none have the incomparable colors and qualities as the images in this book. They are truly magnificent pictures (over 400 color plates)on a black ackground and are of the same quality as Sotheby & Christie's catalog pictures. Tiffany at Auction by Alastair Duncan may be a collectors item, but having seen it, most of the pictures in that book are in black and white and do not begin to compare with this book. While the Sotheby and & Christie catalogs display beautiful pictures, they only show what people choose to sell, unlike this book that shows treasures that I have never before seen in any of the books or catalogs that I have collected. But this book has so much more. Almost every lamp picture has a close up of the actual pattern. As a stained glass worker, these close ups are sufficient for you to reproduce the design. The outstanding and superlative index at the rear contains small thumbnails of each work of art in the book with illuminating information and page number shown for easy access to the item. Actual copies of the Tiffany factory workbooks, similar to Nash's new Tiffany Notebook book, are included in this book.
Of course, this book also has the requisite biography of Tiffany. One third of book is biography and windows, second third is lamps, and last third is vases, index and bibliography. You will NOT be disappointed in this book - it's the best that is available as far as I am concerned.
- This book gives a detailed account of Tiffanys works in most of the mediums he chose. The photographs are gorgeous.
