5 comments about 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders: A world of possibilities inspired by just one skein.
- I have both One Skein Wonders books, love both of them for small, elegant projects (this one is a bit more sophisticated) that make wonderful gifts and give us maniac crafters something to do when more challenging knitting or crochet projects seem a little too much for the moment. It's also a terrific way to test a new yarn for its drape and feel -- oh yes -- and a great way to splurge on a single ball of luxury yarn when a sweater's worth just isn't in the budget. A great favorite of mine...
- Love the book! A lots of fun and interesting designs. Beautiful lacy patterns and convinient layout. Have a few on my list to knit next :)
- I love this book! It is one of the few knitting books I own, I am super picky about what I add to my collection. I have made several of the patterns in the book and am planning to make more. The only downside to this book is that there are a lot of errors in it. Make sure you go to the publisher's website before making any of the patterns so you can have the corrected instructions.
- This book exceeded my expectations. It has a really broad range of patterns and I love the way they are grouped by yarn weight. If you're holding a skein of yarn, wondering what you can knit with it, just go to that weight's section and find something suitable.
Notable find inside: a really cute baby dress knit from one skein of sock yarn.
- A quick and easy transaction. The product arrived as described. Would certainly deal with this seller again.

5 comments about The Full Tilt Poker Strategy Guide: Tournament Edition.
- My order came promptly and it is a very good book to get some tips from
- As an avid poker player (I play at least 5 hours a week) who makes decent money, I was looking forward to this edition. The problem with books these days is that there isn't much new material out there. Doyle wrote his supersystem which laid the groundwork for aggressive play which wasn't the norm back in the day. Then Harrington came out with his three volumes which are the definitive go-to for all no-limit holdem play.
If you want the best no-limit holdem book out there, then this probably isn't your book. The Harrington books trump this book by a long shot. However, if you're looking for a one-stop-shop for the other games then this is the answer. The only section that I felt was subpar was the section on Razz which gave very subpar advice, data, or basic strategy. The stud sections are excellent and lay very good groundwork for both cash and tournament play.
So...if you're only going to stick with NL holdem, then go with the Harrington books...if you're looking for a little bit of everything, then i highly recommend this book.
- Brilliant all round book, which I've learnt and gained much more poker knowledge from. Im not one for reading books but I couldn't put this one down!
- In the world of poker literature, no limit hold em advice dries up and becomes useless pretty quickly these days. One year after its release, this underrated and underread book still holds advice that has yet to find its way into most tournaments. Almost every chapter regarding NLHE offers insights into the game that blows almost everything else away. Dare I say it, I think it even makes HOH begin to look dated.
Andy Bloch's chapter on preflop play is worthy of its own 5-star-rated book (even if I disagree with some of his advice, such as reraising with middle pairs while in position). Lederer's chapter on leverage is knowledge only a miniscule percentage of your opponents will be even vaguely aware of. Chris Ferguson's chapter on bet sizes is all you'll ever need to know about that subject. Gavin Smith's chapter on LAG play is a must-read for both the player wanting to learn to play that dangerous style, or for the TAG wanting to understand his loose-aggressive opponent.
In addition, there are great chapters on other poker games such as Omaha, Stud, and Razz (the Razz chapter being my personal fave). I honestly don't think there is a better tournament book out there. I also honestly hope it continues to fly under the radar for at least another year.
- Buy this book, its one of the best out there and it covers many gametypes

5 comments about The Theory of Poker.
- I hate to give such a great book a negative title and mediocre review but the fact is that this book is just no longer relevant. Had you bought this before the poker boom you would be golden. The best piece of advice you can get from this book is the basic theory. Other than that the whole book is geared around limit cash games. We all know that NL tournaments is where it is at right now so I would check out Dan Harrington's books first.
- This is a must read for any serious beginner to intermediate player. Most advanced players will probably have knowledge of the biggest part of the topics covered but it's never bad to refresh yourself.
Essential information covered is pot odds, implied odds, draws and the free-card concept, among other things.
- How would you play if ALL the cards were face-up? Any difference, when the cards are face down is a mistake. Ditto for your opponents. Sklansky expounds this fundamental theorem in great detail. This is a must-have book.
- Okay, this book has wonderful information within it. Almost nothing Mr. Sklansky states within the book is bad information, and he uses relatively easy language. The problem many may have with the book is that while there are many simple learning tools that will help every reader immediately, this book is not one of them. FIRST AND FOREMOST, THIS IS NOT A BOOK FOR A HOLE'EM PLAYER. If you're looking to learn Hold'em only, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK YET! Even if you are looking to learn more than games than Hold'em, I would suggest 'SuperSystem' first. My reasoning is simple, in this book, Mr Sklansky bounces from game to game to illustrate his examples. For a player who is trying to establish a winning approach to the game, this book may very well confuse you with so many examples and will not build confidence.
From my previous statements, one might wonder why I would give this book a 5 star rating, and the answer is because to those whom can follow the book, it's essentially the handbook to every basic principle in the game. I would compare 'The Theory of Poker' to a school professor(and I will note this SPECIFIC book only and not the author or his other works) who does not dumb down his lessons for the lesser committed students, but whom will give a student the most out of the class if that student is completely dedicated. The catch is, this professer is teaching a third or fourth level class that without the necessary prerequisites, the student will be lost. I would guess that only one out of about six poker players trying to figure out if this is the right book for them would be correct in deciding it is, but to that one person, this is a MUST-HAVE! To those five people out of the six, if you have to ask whether or not you are ready for the book, the one person who is ready wouldn't have to ask. That person would be asking is the book worth reading, and the answer is yes!
- This book helps a particular type of player and hurt others. The information is great for anyone that can use Sklansky's work as a springboard to deeper thought, but can lead many to mismanage variables while sizing up a situation. Not Sklansky's fault, but the reader. This was the first poker book I ever read and I misused the understanding at first for increased losses. However, overtime, Sklansky's thinking here has helped at the tables and off the felt as well. I recommend this title as an essential book in a serious poker players library.

5 comments about Will Shortz Presents The Little Black Book of Sudoku: 400 Puzzles (Will Shortz Presents...).
- I have to say this is a great little book. I love the fact that it is spiral bound, plus the high-quality paper it is written on is great for erasures. I recently ordered about five sudoku books from Amazon and this is, by far, my favorite. Love Will's books.
- Nice book of sudoku.
It has 4 sections of 100 puzzles.(levels of challenge).
-Light (serious sudokuers will fisnish in one day)
-Moderate (Nice n easy )
-Hard (relaxing)
-Hardest (brain storm)
The book has a very nice spiral design .
Small and easy to carry. Keeps busy when you are commuting to work ..
It took me 3 weeks to finish on an easy pace.
Best Sudoku book I had so far..
There are 400 puzzles inside but 2 of them are same so you actually get to resolve 399.
- There are many ways to find Sudoku puzzles; but, what is unique about this book of puzzles is that it is a spiral notebook. Much easier to open the pages flat to do the puzzles. Other bound books must be held open by one hand while marking with the other. This book lies flat and is much easier to use.
- The book is divided into ability sections. There is plenty of room to write the numbers with white space around the puzzle to make notes. It provides hours of challenge!
- The format gets an A+ for me -- compact book with lots of room to write, and the glossy paper erases easily, which is great.
My only quibbles - the difficulty level is not consistent. Some of the moderate puzzles are walkoff easy, and some are really miserably hard. And my other quibble really is a quibble... I miss the symmetric format of the starting squares, which is customary with Sudoku.
So the format gets five stars from me, and the content three, and overall I guess that averages out to four stars!

5 comments about Phil Hellmuth Presents Read 'Em and Reap: A Career FBI Agent's Guide to Decoding Poker Tells.
- Mike Caro's book was revolutionary since it was the first book that categorized all the tells from the poker table. I believe everybody should read Caro's book first if you want to learn about tells, but this books teaches you on how to continue learning how to read tells.
Joe Navarro talks a lot about standard position, this is how people are in their normal state. You have to be observant on how people look like when they aren't under any pressure or stress. Base on this knowledge you will then start trying to read this person on tells. In the end of the book Navarro teaches you how to improve your observation skills with some exercises.
Some reviews says that this is just a copy of Caro's book. I don't believe that's true, you will find information here that you can't find in Caro's book.
- This is one great poker book. I play a lot of poker and everything else I've ever read about poker tells (even by the famous Mike Caro) has been completely useless. This book paid for itself the first time I played poker after reading it. I now feel like a professional player able to make some great reads.
- This book is certainly more relevant today than Caro's dated one. But, like Caro's work, some of the information is delivered as absolute and true, while we all know there are no such things in poker.
Read 'em and Reap has much to offer but everything in it needs a little salt for seasoning.
- This might be seen as competition for Mike Caro's excellent _Mike Caro's Book of Tells_ but it is better viewed as a complimentary work, covering different parts of the same theme.
Before we discuss the differences between the two, we have to mention the view that tells are not very important. That view, promoted by people as prominant as Daniel Negreanu, is simply wrong. While tells may not help you very often, a tell can win a very important hand for you or keep you from losing a very large number of chips. As long as tells exist, as Mr. Negreanu will freely admit, they don't have to be seventy percent of the game (a bizarre claim made by the authors of this book)to be important.
This book, in contrast to the Caro book, analyzes very basic neurological reactions, honest tells. In contrast to the "weak means strong" theme of the major tells in the book of tells, this book teaches you to see often subtle but almost always honest indicators of a player's confidence at a particular moment in time. The most important part of this book is the section on not _giving_ information.
The flaws in this book include the above claim that poker is seventy percent driven by reading tells. Most others involve Mr. Hellmuth and his ego and the amount of extraneous bragging that is done by both authors.
- I read this book less than two weeks time and entered three poker tournments three weeks later- result 1st tournment third place, 2nd tournment 1st and 3rd tournment 1st place. This book is amazing. Worth the money spent!!!

3 comments about Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility Official Strategy Guide (Bradygames Strategy Guides).
- I love the game. Almost as good as he melody one (just smaller). Have wasted an entire evening in farming world. But, it is very enjoyable escapism and this game offers some interesting new twists like growing rice! Yeah!
- This was my first experience writing a guide for print, as opposed to the internet. It was rather exciting to work with the publishers on an actual book as opposed to the internet guides that I am able to update as needed but which lack the sophistication of a Brady Guide. I hope that players will enjoy both the guide and the game. 'Tree of Tranquility' for the Wii is an incredibly detailed game that allows you to play a 'second generation' game as your own child. All Harvest Moon fans as well as those who have not played any Harvest Moon games previously should be very happy with this game. Your character can be either a boy or a girl. You can choose the gender of your child and thus play the opposite gender in the next generation game. Exotic animals that you can raise include ostriches and silkworms as well as the usual range of livestock and poultry. The plot is quite detailed as well.
- EVERYONE be warned before buying this game!! Natsume made a horrible glitch when translating the game and now one of the characters is unmarriageable. Also, if you get that character to a certian affection leve3l you will not be able to beat the game becuase of the glitch. BE WARNED BEFORE BUYING

5 comments about Sit 'n Go Strategy.
- This book has become my favorite out of the dozens of poker books that I own. Before reading this book I was a marginal to losing player at on-line poker. Since reading this book, I have become a consistent winner at low and medium stakes SNG's. I honestly can't say that about any other poker book I have read.
Once you have read and understand the material in the low-blind, mid-blind and high blind sections it becomes an invaluable reference for constantly tuning your game. The organizational structure of the book makes it easy to quickly find a situation that you might want to review after an on-line session.
This book paid for itself within 24 hours of reading it. If you are serious about playing SNG's, but haven't been getting the results you desire, then this book is a must read.
- This is a great book for SNG strategy if you are new to the concept.
But one could save themselves a lot of trouble by breaking it down to these three points:
1) there is going to be some variance in your wins, so make sure you have a large enough bankroll for the level you are playing (what "large enough" means varies by the player's skill and playing style)
2) play very tight early in the game, loosen up and be more aggressive later in the game
3) use SNG Wizard to review all of your games to learn where there are non-intuitive spots to get your money in when the blinds are high
Note that while this book is about NLHE, the basic concept will apply to nearly any SNG strategy, keeping in mind that for limit and PL games, it is slightly harder as your bet sizing is not always going to be much of a threat, therefore your fold equity does not count for much, which much of this strategy is built around.
Otherwise, this is essentially the mathematical model for beating the games.
I personally I have had less success (or perhaps just way more variance) in the turbo games, but crush the regular ones. The better you are, your skill is going to come from you making fewer mistakes, and you exploiting your opponents mistakes - that means in a turbo, there is going to be less time for your opponents to make mistake and so in theory the variance should be higher.
- This is an excellent book on the 1-table SNG format. After describing the theory of play in each of a wide variety of situations (small, medium, and high blinds; short- and big-stacked; cards in hand; etc.), Moshman provides several hand "quizzes" that examine how to play specific hands. This is an EXCELLENT feature missing from most poker books--even most of the good ones.
One minor beef: I'd like to see some expansion into multi-table SNG's, which somehow ride the line between the 1-tables discussed here (and in several other books) and full-on tournament play.
- If I had to advice one poker book only, my choice would be this one. It's explanation of the play with different blind sizes is fantastic. It's very useful also for cash players because they can understand the importance of the stack size (deep cash play is somewhat similar to small blind tournament play). I strongly advice this book
- If you want to learn a very aggressive approach to playing single table sit and go Holdem tourneys at the $100.+ plus buy-in level this is a good book. The author says he is successful with this method and I believe him. The downside is that his approach will likely be much less successful at the lower limits where raises get far less respect but some of what he teaches will apply to lower limit play.

5 comments about Kill Everyone: Advanced Strategies for No-limit Hold 'em Poker Tournaments and Sit-n-go's.
- I was a little skeptical, if not curious as to what would be written in this book and as to how useful the advice would be. I had read Kill Phil and thought that the ideas were very basic and not very applicable to intermediate and advanced players. When I spent my money on Kill Everyone and read I could not stop reading. Why? Because the 2008 Aussie Millions main event was coming up and the book focuses on bubble play, equilibrium strategies and prize pools and equities; concepts which are very important in the major events. All the money in poker is to be made in or around the bubble and when approaching the final table. Kill Everyone is the best for these situations and therefore very much worth the read. Part one of the book shows how to accumulate chips early on and I found a particular example useful for me in the 2008 Aussie Millions Main Event. For No Limit Hold'em Tournaments this book sets the new precedent. Lee's latest book Let's Play Poker is brilliant for sit and go's. Use these books to improve your skills and reach your poker playing potential.
- Very solid and innovative new age tournament poker strategies presented in this book. Definately a book for advanced players as some of the mathematical situations detailed in the book are beyond the grasp of beginners. The book is very well written.
- New tactics and many tricks to learn. Read it, it will be helpfull for changing your game style when is needed on late game play on tournaments and of course at final tables!
- This is a wonderful book for advanced poker players. It is well written with many fresh ideas. It is a must read... Visit SuperAggressive.com for more details.
- This book is full of useful information.I really liked it I have been playing poker and games nearly all my life.Lots of good stuff in this book most common things I never really think about while playing and some things that I should be thinking about.Anyway lots of useful information it was a good purchase in my opinion.

5 comments about Doyle Brunson's Super System: A Course in Power Poker.
- If you are into poker and you're serious about money, this is the book for you. Learn the basics from the pro that started it all. Great buy!!
- The sections on no limit holdem are great. Since not many cardrooms play the other games, a large part of the book isn't really that applicable today unless you are in Vegas and have access to the other games.
- Condition of book was perfect. Purchased this book for my son's birthday. He loved it.
- I ordered this book hoping i could become a better poker player but super system is way too outdated and most of the material is about games that arent played anymore. The NLHE section is general poker strategy by todays standards, i understand that super system was a great poker book when it first came out but now there r so many better poker books out there. Unless your a beginner poker player or would just want to read basically a poker history book, i wouldt suggest this book.
- perfect book, got it two days before expected, in perfect condition. saved me $15. I love playing poker and I love saving money.

- I had so much fun with this book. I cannot wait until the next book of People Jumbo Puzzles comes out. I ordered the first one also, and just starting to work in it. The nice thing is I dont know all the shows, or Ieven all of the people, but I can figure them out with the other clues that surround the ones I don't know.
MAKE SURE YOU USE PENCIL, AS IT IMPRINTS TO THE OTHER SIDE IF YOU USE INK. I DO THE PUZZLE IN PENCIL, BUT WHEN I AM FINISHED WITH THAT PARTICULAR PUZZLE, I CHECK AND CORRECT MY ANSWERS IN INK. KEEPS ME HONEST,
(even thou it is just for me)
- Fun and easy. I would recommend this for any "People" crossword fans!
Enjoyed very much.
- ...entertainment. My wife and I fight over the People crosswords and we no longer have to.
- I absolutely LOVE doing these crossword puzzles! I like this book because it has the JUMBO puzzles which allow for more space to write the letters in. Also, I like that the answers are in the back of the book so if I get stuck I can look one up and keep going! I cannot wait until the next set of PEOPLE PUZZLERS comes out!
- What a great way to occupy yourself while waiting for the kids to get to the car after an activity. I keep it in my car.
