- Rather than focusing on silk ribbon embroidery or crazy quilting, this book's focus is on the author's life. It should be classified as an autobiography rather than a needlework book. There are some very nice pictures of her handiwork throughout the book, but not enough to warrant purchasing the book.
- I think this is a great book for stitchers. Judith Baker Montano describes her creative process (not an easy thing to do), and in doing so gives the reader plenty of ideas for expanding their own creativity. Her life is not separate from her work, and she shows us how to use our life experiences to enhance our own work. I loved this book.
- Beautiful Art! The pictures are wonderful ! Great instuction!

- This book is more inspirational than it is instructional. It is a beautiful book.
- Tracy Franklin is a marvellous stitching and design expert. I attended a class she taught on goldwork (her previous book) at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and she really knows what she's talking about. This book is all about creativity and possiblities. It is more inspiring than daunting for learning a new skill in stitching. Buy it.

2 comments about The Impatient Embroiderer: 20 Great Projects You Can Make in a Hurry.
- This book does not require an embroidery machine. This book is great if you want to try free-handed techniques to get started, or want to test embroidery before you invest in the high price machines. The look is definately modern, using new fabrics & colors. I am not sure if a teenager would have the patience to try the products, but I think younger people would enjoy this.
- I had picked this book up in Michael's one day near the embroidery and floss section, and jotted it down to pick up later. Now that I've finally bought it and gone through it, I'm very disappointed. When I picked up the book originally, I thought to myself, "Ok, so this will have a lot of short embroidery projects - a fast turnaround with cute results!" While this is true for most projects in this book, I'm not entirely sure if it could all be considered embroidery. There is a good amount of applique work, quilting, and a lot of "adding flair to boring things" (napkins, tablecloths, purses, etc) - with machine embroidery/sewing.
I was really hoping to find a good half of the projects to be hand-embroidery, but there are really only 4 patterns (out of 20 total!) that you can and must use hand embroidery on. For Ms. Emerson, whenever she can use machine embroidery, she does. I guess if you are persistent enough and want to do all of the machine embroidery things by hand, you could, but then that also defeats the purpose of this book being called "The Impatient Embroiderer."
All in all, I wish I had read the fine print better.
