5 comments about 501 Fun to Make Family Crafts.
  1. This is a great addition to any kids craft library.

The ideas a grouped by seasons. We haven't done any of these craft yet. We are having a hard time chosing one to start with! Lots of fun for years to come!

  2. The wife enjoys all kinds of crafts. When she saw this book she knew it would be a keeper. She enjoys working up things to make with the kids. It provides a lot of things we can make with the kids. A fun family time.

  3. In this book, they grouped the projects with nice symbols and by season to make it easier for you. There are Nature Projects, Back-to-School Projects, Bird Projects, Sport Projects, Pumpkin Decorations, and a whole lot more! The Cool Paper Book Covers in the Fall Season are a good project for kids (as well as a lot of other projects for kids). My favorite project in the book are the heart embellished Valentine Day cards. I haven't made any of those projects yet, but I am sure I will have so much fun making them! :-)

  4. We are enjoying tthis craft book. Lots of fun ideas to do with the kids!!

  5. I am still trying to figure out where the 501 crafts are in this book, considering there are only 224 pages. The photos and projects that are included are colorful and beautiful, but not practical. I'd have to make a few trips to the store to purchase the materials needed for these projects. Better to subscribe to a magazine like "Pack-o-fun" or buy a different book if you are looking for projects you will actually take time to create.

5 comments about Got Tape?: Roll Out the Fun With Duct Tape!.
  1. When I first saw this book I was intrested in but compleately inadept with duct tape. This book gave me ideas, inspiration and instructions.

It really helped me get going, and I am now much better with duct tape and have even compleated several pieces of costume clothing!

Don't get me wrong, using duct tape and making it look nice take a lot of effort. Learning to make your duct tape creations look great will take a lot of patience and a lot of time you can dedicate to it until you get the hang of it you will have to make things over and over so they will look good.

If you are willing to spend the time (and duct tape) to make things it's a ton of fun and is definently worth the effort when you finish your first creation.

I'd recomend this book to ages 9 and up.

  2. My high school students loved the design unit I taught based on the elements of design by creating accessories with duct tape. Written by a high school student who was also bitten by the duct tape bug, makes this book very relevant to teens. In fact, they got so involved they worked till the bell rang and had to hurry to their next class.

The projects are relatively simple and the instructions are easy to follow. There is a variety of projects from wallets and purses to can holders and a tie for her dad. This is a great starter book for the duct tape enthusiast. The price is very reasonable.

Who knows, maybe your teen will get hooked and win the Duck Tape Prom clothing scholarship.

    Becky

  3. ummm, this book is premium.

    -sammy davis jr. jr.

  4. Duct Tape is cheap..and it's available in a wide array of colors now too.
My daughter got this book from us for Christmas, along with about 5 rolls of tape that I bought separately.
She LOVES this book. It has about 25 different crafts...including clothing, glasses, and hats you can make from tape.
Great fun! She spent several hours making things.

  5. The book isnt everything we were looking for,it is fun and it does show you things to make but not enough. My son made a few things but some of the things in the book are not something you would make. He did say the frame was to long to make.
He did make a wallet and he uses it. I just thought there would be more things in it.

5 comments about Child's Play.
  1. This book brought back a lot of great memories but also presented some really fresh ideas for quick and easy projects that your preschooler can do with just a little help from you. Some of the ideas, especially in the paper project section, are great "fillers" for when you need to keep your child entertained for a short time (in a restaurant or waiting room, or between activities at home). Other projects suggested in the book have kept my children busy for hours and have also gotten them thinking about new ideas! For my school age child, the Child's Play 6-12 by the same author has been a real favorite. This book is a lifesaver. Highly recommended!

  2. Child's Play is an exciting book filled with easy and accessible projects for the young. The book offers projects that can be made from materials you really do have around the house, so expense is minimal. Not only are the projects entertaining to the child while constructing, but the end product is the stimulus for hours more creative play. I think that's what I like best about these activities...they stimulate my child's imagination! Illustrations and instructions are clear and easy to follow. I really enjoy the activities in this book and so do my children! We have shared this book with many of our friends and know you will enjoy the exciting ideas it has to offer!

  3. I spend every Saturday with my 3 nephews. One is 6, the others are two 3-year old twins. This book has saved my life! So many times the kids have been over and I haven't had any idea of how to keep them occupied! Since about January of this year, I've been using "200 Instant Crafts" as an instant sources of great craft ideas. The best part is how inexpensive the crafts are to make. I really do have most of the stuff around the house. The guidelines that tell me for what age the craft is appropriate have been an immense help to me. I had no idea what a 3 year old could and couldn't do as opposed to the 6 year old. Using these guidelines keeps me from asking the kids to do something they aren't ready to do. I'll be using this book all Summer! Thanks.

  4. I have used this book and the others in the "Child's Play" series for years with lots of preschool and elementary school-aged kids. It is particularly great for babysitters because all the activities can be done using materials everyone has around the house, so you can just scrounge in the kitchen and office for paper, egg cartons, crayons, and other odds and ends for and end up with really cool finished product. Kids love it, and the activities are easy to do and easy to clean up after. Plus the illustrations are cute and funny.

  5. In this age of videos, TV and the never-ending search for faster and flashier entertainment, what a pleasure to find a book with good, easy and basic ideas for children's crafts. Simple yet timeless ideas that have helped this grandmother enjoy many a rainy afternoon with her grandkids. I remember making some of the projects when I was a kid!

3 comments about Scrapbooking for Kids, Ages 1 to 100.
  1. This is a great book for the kids to get ideas and has great layout ideas. You can even provide feedback and get a small gift. There is step by step instructions on how the kids can get started complete with lettering and croping.

  2. What I like most about this book is that it presents the basics of scrapbooking in a well-written, simplistic format. All of the essential elements that experienced adult scrappers use are introduced page-by-page on a beginner's level. There are also many lettering and die cut examples to use, as well as simple lay outs to jump start one's creativity. i would not classify this as a "kids" book, but rather a primer on the art of scrapbooking. Well written and very colorful (something kids of all ages can appreciate!).

    Cris Cunningham

  3. There were many things I enjoyed about this book. It gives many clear and not cluttered examples. It is very easy to understand along with providing different uses for the basic scrapbooking supplies. The pictures were great and I would not classify this as a childrens book either.

3 comments about Picture Book Activities : Fun and Games for Preschoolers Based on 50 Favorite Children's Books.
  1. I totally agree with Trish Kuffner's philosophy on reading. The quotes she chose for the introductory chapters are absolutely priceless. Her short book reviews for each selection are delightfully insightful and the stimulating related activities project cozy, loving approach. My thanks to the author for writing this wonderfully inspirational book.

  2. I have been using this for about 4 months with my 3 and 5 year old boys. We love the entire experience we get from this book. Always having loved reading, this book has triggered a deep desire and great enjoyment in finding and reading good books to my boys, and then doing the related activities. I'm asked several times a day if we can do more activites for whichever book we are currently on.

  3. This book is one of the best resources on the market for language arts enrichment. It is authored by Trish Kuffner, who herself is the homeschooling mother of five. Picture Book Activities utilizes 50 award winning children's books such as "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Blueberries for Sal, Madeline and Harold and the Purple Crayon" as the basis for its curriculum. The curriculum is divided into the categories: Before You Read, As You Read, Let's Talk About It, Arts and Crafts, Cooking and Baking, Fun and Games, Rhymes and Finger Plays, Fun and Games, Let's Pretend, Music and Movement, Play and Learn and Enrichment Activities. There is also an appendix which covers basic craft recipes, making books with children, children's book awards, and picture book resources. On the book cover it states "fun and games for preschoolers" however this book can be utilized with children pre k through grade 2.

  1. This coloring book gives a VERY nice overview of desert plants and animals. Not only are the illustrations done very well, but there is a short paragraph at the bottom of each page that explains about the scene. My kids had a great time coloring their favorite animals, and learning at the same time.

  2. Fantastic. These books are the best I have found to find pictures to use as templets or stencils for designs to paint on silk.
