  1. This book is great for what it is but I thought there would be a bit more variety. There are plenty of different types of little animals to make but they are almost all made of a tiny stuffed body and head with flat felt arms and legs. Sure they are cute, but I won't make more than one of these so it isn't worth the cost.

  2. The title of this book is really appropriate. This is such a cute book! The instructions and illustrations are so clear, even a 5 yr old could follow them. Coincidentally, this is also the age I would recommend this book to. Anyone with small children who can follow simple craft instructions would love this book. My 4 yr old was so excited when we received it in the mail, immediately flipping through the pages and figuring out what he wanted first! LOL Actually, I suppose kids up to Pre-teen and burnt out adults who are looking for a simple "no stress" weekend craft project would like this too! All in all, it's just a silly, fun and CUTE book that really has no purpose but brightens up your day. =)

  3. This is the first book in the Aranzi Aronzo "Let's Make Cute Stuff" series and the title says it all. This book contains patterns for making 19 different little felt Aranzi Aronzo dolls (if you aren't familiar with the Aranzi Aronzo characters, check out the Aronzo website, www.aranziaronzo.com - they're sort of like the Sanrio/Hello Kitty characters, only with more personality). Each doll is about 3-4 inches in height and they are very easy to make. I've made two of them so far, and each took me only a couple of hours. The book, itself, is beautifully presented, it is in full colour, with fully illustrated instructions (these illustrations make the instructions so easy to follow that you don't even need to read the words).

People who enjoy this book should also consider purchasing the other books in this series: Aranzi Aronzo Cute Dolls (Let's Make Cute Stuff) (which contains patterns for larger versions of the Aronzo characters featured in this book), Aranzi Aronzo Fun Dolls (Let's Make Cute Stuff) and Aranzi Cute Stuff; as well as Lovable Mini-Dolls, which is not an Aronzo book but contains patterns for making Japanese felt dolls.

  4. On the first day I had this book I made six mascots! What a fun and satisying book this is. You need only felt, embroidery thread, glue, and needle and scissors! My 8 and 10 year old daughters could make them and my 4 year old son loves playing with them. Wool felt or partial wool felt works better than acrylic felt since it's easier to cut and looks neater and less fuzzy than acrylic felt.

  5. Crew currently making sock dolls and wanted a book to help me with how to attach arms and legs and ideas for clothes. I thought this was such a book that really the patterns aren't anything you could use as they are too small and the instructions aren't very good or complete. I don't really like the book and wish I could return it

  1. This book showcases a collection of quilts made for and by children for doll beds. Some of them are quite old, whereas others are fairly recent. The photos are well done and the book's layout is easy to read.

I picked this one up on a whim, and while I enjoyed this book, I don't see it having much re-read value for me. I was hoping for some ideas for projects I would want to make in the future, and while it was interesting I wasn't inspired to duplicate any of the children's work.

I'm giving this book 3 stars, mostly because, while interesting, it didn't leave a lasting impression.

  2. This delightful book leads the reader into the seldom-explored world of doll quilts. Better still, it helps us imagine the makers of the quilts, as well as the children for whom they were made, and who sometimes learned to make the quilts themselves, however awkwardly. Best of all, the knowledgeable collector and the author, with their historical expertise and their trained eyes, teach us that what speaks to us most clearly is the concept of the quilt, rather than the skill of its construction.--Dorothy Schneider (Mrs. Carl J. Schneider)

  1. This book is filled with many, many stickers. They don't rip easily and the pages they stick on are also thick and of quality.

  2. We bought 30 of these books to give as party favors for my daughter's fourth birthday. They were very popular, and I loved not distributing a bunch of plastic junk.

  3. Kids will love the brightly colored stickers, and parents will appreciate the educational value the book serves in teaching youngsters about the wild world of nature. A great children series with great educational values is Why Some Cats are Rascals ( Book 3) FIVE STARS!

  4. My daughter found another book from this series at her cousins house and really liked it, so I found this book on Amazon. I surprised my daughter with it when she began getting restless on a transcontinental flight. We easily passed 30-45 minutes. At two and half years old my daughter is under the minimum recommended age for this book. Some of the activities are too advanced for my daughter, but this did not prevent us from identifying the various animals. She also enjoyed finding the correct places for the stickers. I can highly recommend this sticker activity book as something to add to your rotation of things to do for a small child, especially for a long trip. The quality of the book and stickers is well worth the $3.47 on Amazon.

  5. Lots of different and interesting activities but the stickers didn't stick so well on the book. Maybe it is so you can do the activities over again or reposition the stickers, but I ended up with stickers all over the floor when my little ones took off with big sister's book.

  1. Out of the half dozen coloring books we bought last year this one was our favorite. Every design felt well thought out and was quite fun to color. My only complaint is that there weren't more pictures to color. This is well worth buying if you're looking for a challenge to your coloring skills.

  2. I enjoyed this book very much. I kept it on my coffee table and would color in it to relax. Now that each page is colored I have moved it to my bookshelf.

  3. I think this will be fun to color with my granddaughter. We love to color things together, and we love designs. Thanks.

  4. I teach an alternative high school class and these designs have helped my students focus and relax at the same time. Anyone who works with troubled teens should have these at their disposal...one more item to add to your bad of tricks!

  5. This book completes the series of Mandala coloring books by this author. Well worth the money spent.

  1. This is a really fun book, I enjoy the cutting and pasting stuff. I am 10 so I am not really challengend on some of the crafts. The DVD crafty fun is really good for my age, I have learned how to make christmas stuff, iron-on tote bags, necklaces and other really fun stuff.

  2. I didnt find any originial idea's in this book- i'm very disapointed by the purchase

  3. I'm an artist, but I have no idea what to do to introduce art to my little girl, which is why I got this book. But I've gone through the entire thing and I haven't found one thing that my 2.9 year old would grasp. I guess she could sit there while I cut and folded and painted faces, etc. But I'd really prefer to find something that would make more sense for her since these aren't the kind of projects I'm interested in for myself.

  4. I ordered this book thinking it would give me some original ideas to do with my 3 year son. There is not one thing in this book that I found helpful. It is all very basic stuff that doesn't seem like much fun. I think there are better books out there.

  5. I like the information here, it wasnt alot of new stuff. But I liked way the author presented it. Nothing new, but a fresh take on old faithfuls.

  1. I ordered this as a Christmas present. I recieved it in plenty of time. My son is really enjoying it.

  2. Our son loves to do outdoorsy and handywork types of things, so this book has been fun for him. He is 9. Some of the projects are still a bit too complicated for him to do on his own, and some he likes to read about but doesn't necessarily want to do, but he has enjoyed the pictures and descriptions of "how things were made in the old days" like his grandpas used to do.

  3. This book is an excellent "how-to" guide for any project imaginable, many of which have become "lost arts" in todays society. Great for outdoor enthusists as well as scouters, with tons of fun crafts, activities and skills for the taking!! It contains many alternative activities to video gaming, virtual reality, and electronic pastimes to get kids outdoors and thinking and learning creatively. I gave one to all seven of the boys and men in my family for Christmas, and they all love it.

  4. I was rather disappointed in this book, as I had bought it based in large part on other's reviews, thinking it would give my boys some really good ideas on things to do with their idle time. When I received and thumbed through the book, however, it appeared clearly more of a nostalgic coffee table book than a "how to" manual of the activities/projects it covers. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone seeking help with filling up a boy's idle time, but instead to those needing another book for their coffee table or bathroom rack. It's a nicely written book, but I believe improperly packaged/marketed as a "how-to" book, misleading the buyer/reader.

  5. This is a masterwork by one of the founders of the Scouting movement. It is designed to provide children (boys) with ideas and plans to make everything from kites to traps to invisible ink. It is writen in a style that is easy for the child to understand. In an age when kids can't be pried away from the TV and video games, this book takes us back to a simpler time when kids were sent outside in the morning and didn't come back in until supper.
My 25 year old son asked for this for Christmas because he loved it so as a boy, and I wouldn't part with my copy.

  1. My kids are young enough that the basic building schemes illustrated here are interesting to them. Some are beyond them (ages 5,6,11). They were somewhat disappointed there weren't more "models" or building plans to follow. I like it, though, because it just shows the basics then makes them use their imaginations where anything is possible. So, it's useful, but not an item I'd rave about.

  2. An Ok book, but I was hoping that the author would go into greater details.

  3. Bedford's book offers everything and anything that one could consider useful to know about building with LEGO. I love the way he describes how to design things using grids and how to organize large collections of LEGO bricks. He's even designed a game in LEGO that others can play! I highly recommend this book to all ages of LEGO builders.

  4. THE UNOFFICIAL LEGO BUILDER'S GUIDE is the best "Overview" of the LEGO building system available hands down. The book has been written for beginners as well as more advanced builders. It's a great reference guide with tips, techniques and definitions for users of all ages. Anyone can buy and build a LEGO "set", but this book will give you the tools needed to build your own creations. Once those "sets" are in a hundred pieces and you want to try your hand at your own creation, this is the guide you will reach for to help you do it right.

The chapters are written is a simple easy to understand way and the flow of the material is easy to follow. There seems to be just enough information on each page that the reader does not feel like he/she is always getting lost when following the examples or descriptions. The illustrations are in black and white and are very clear and easy to see. Some might complain that the illustrations are not in color but I personally prefer the black and white. When building your own creation the lack of color is actually less of a distraction than it would be if you were building something blue and white and the illustration was red and yellow.

One of the best features of the book is the Bricktopia, a categorized list of the most commonly used LEGO pieces. It includes an illustration of the piece, a description, size and part number. I personally find it helpful to browse thru this area to get "ideas" for building projects. I have noticed pieces I forgot about that has triggered a "thats the one I could use" thought to help with a project I am working on or have been thinking of building.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning the foundations needed to build projects from simple to the more elaborate. LEGO builders of all ages will benefit from buying this book. Buy this book and leave it out on a coffee table and see how long it takes someone to pick it it up!

  5. A true labor of love, this is the most comprehensive guide around! A must-have for LEGO devotees.

  1. I just love this book! The projects have wonderful pictures and very clear instructions. They can all be done with items found around the house. And, my grandkids have loved every one that we have done. This book is definitely worth the money.

  2. Wow. I teach crafts and art to children in the summer and this book gave me great new ideas on all age and skill levels. I like the formulas in the back of the book for homemade clay, etc. A must have for every crafter and mom.

  3. I was very excited to order this book after reading all of the glowing reviews. When I received it I dropped everything to read it (I can vacuum another day!) and was quickly disappointed. There was very little new information in here - anyone who reads Family Fun or has a passing knowledge of Martha Stewart has seen these before.

I did give it three stars because it was well laid out and photographed. Anyone who is new to crafting with their kids will find this a valuable resource. As for myself, it is on it's way back to amazon to find a home with another family.

  4. This is a great book, full of lots of fun activities many of which don't take anything more than what you have around the house. In fact I had it sitting on my living room end table and my daughter in law who doesn't even have kids said she'd love to have a copy for her own use.

I know some of you are not Rosie fans, but believe me she really understands what gets kids excited about craft projects.

  5. I bought 2 of these books having seen Rosie on the Martha Stewart show. The way she includes her children to do all sorts of crafts,is fabulous. I am an avid stamper and scrapbooker, so I thought this would be ideal for me when I have the grand kids over, so then I had to buy another so my daughter also had a book so she could learn how to do crafts with the kids.
    thanks so much.
