4 comments about How to Restore Classic John Deere Tractors: The Ultimate Do-It-Yourself Guide to Rebuilding and Restoring Deere Two-Cylinder Tractors.
- This book give a very good overview of what to expect if you've never done this kind of work before. It is not a step-by-step road map on how to do the work, but it'll give you an idea of what is in store for you. It's a nice read to get you psyched-up to start a project.
- Not Mugh Here, information is scant, lacks detail, content and so on... I've found sales flyers more informative...
- Nice pictures, and enjoyable to read. But as an actual reference for restoration it is pretty lacking. It varies from being either too general, or in some instances specific to a particular model that you don't own. It either assumes you are a competent backyard mechanic, or that you are new to turning wrenches. The author has apparently never restored a tractor himself, but he has interviewed at least two hobby restorers, and apparently has watched them do a few.
I would rate the book higher (at least 3 stars) if it wasn't titled as an "ultimate restoration" reference. It isn't.
- Very interesting for restorers. Some new info and helpful at all stages. A good book to read before starting a restoration.

2 comments about 2008 North American Coins & Prices (North American Coins and Prices).
- Every few years I purchase the updated version of this book because it contains information on Canadian and Mexican coins as well as US coins. It is very accurate on the price you might pay for coins purchased over the internet.
- Another great book for the North American Coin Values. A lot of information to digest. Can't beat the price.

1 comments about Twentieth-Century Design (Oxford History of Art).
- Since Hesketts "Industrial Design" from 1990, this is the best comprehensive introduction to the "new" Design History view on the parallel histories of design developments in this century.
It takes a relatively non-heroic attitude towards celebrated designers and design classics while trying to locate the meaning of design products in mass culture, lifestyles, corporations and consumption spheres instead of the designers "creative mind.

1 comments about 2008 Baseball Card Price Guide.
- This price guide is filled with tons of card prices. I was not disappointed with this book as I think you will feel the same way. I would like to note that a few of the newer model inserts were not listed and cards past 1981 werent listed as well. Other than that, this book is a great addition to any collection.

1 comments about Steel Canvas: The Art Of American Arms.
- Having been a serrious engraver for just over a year now, I have amassed several books on engraving: mainly the "standards" for engravers: several of the Dover series of patterns, James L. Meek, Nimschke, etc. This has some of the finest and sharpest photos of engraving I have seen. And this book is cheap compaired to many of the others. Just plain beautiful. And --- worth every penny

5 comments about Making Marble-Action Games, Gadgets, Mazes & Contraptions: Designs for 10 Outlandish, Ingenious and Intricate Woodworking Projects.
- This book was a terrible disappointment. I wanted to give it no stars but that didn't seem to be an option. For most of these gadgets he begins the chapter by explaining that they don't actually work very well, they tend to jam and clog up requiring a certain amount of tilting and tapping to clear the device. Many of the mazes and such are non-functional - they are there to make the contraption look complicated. It's clear to me from looking at it that the dice substitute will never generate a 1, 2, or 6, and the thing is definitely not uniform like dice would be. The spirit of Rube Goldberg is represented by contraptions that do a lot but accomplish very little. The mechanisms in this book just don't do anything. I didn't find a single satisfying project in here and felt like it was a waste of twenty bucks. And what are metric conversion tables doing in here? An embarrassment if you ask me. If you like this kind of stuff get Making Wooden Mechanical Models by Alan and Gill Bridgewater. It is far superior.
- I was disappointed as well. I expected projects I could build, but nothing struck me as worth the time. The basic ideas are OK, marble rollers, and so on. But I would only use this stuff as a departure point for my own designs.
- This book contains 10 ideas for games which seem to be what every child would enjoy. The problem is that most of the figures used in the book to give construction details leave a lot to be desired. Most of the photos are black and white and difficult to see any detail. The drawings are also in black and white and are also very difficault to follow.
- In today's world not many woodworkers make things by hand. The book is hard to work with, difficult to find basic stock requirements and measurements. I would not buy again.
- While depicting interesting marble-action games, the lack of dimensioned drawings and detailed construction instructions make the book pretty much useless for the casual woodworker interested in constructing the toys.

5 comments about Crystal Stemware Identification Guide.
- Lots and lots of phots and makers. Very good even has unknown photos.Worth the money for a glass person
- I thought this would be a great addition to my library as I enjoy stemware and was very disappointed that most of the "images" are just line drawings and there is no history of lines or anything. I couldn't even find my stemware in the listings and I have several old sets that I have bought over the years. Stick with Gene Florence if you want a really good book on identification. Very lackluster!
- I think the book is good in the sense it has a lot of pictures even though they are not in color they are still clear enough to make out the pattern. Besides, most stemware is clear anyhow. The stick figure patterns are also helpful for some of the harder to find items and besides they do give a written description as well. I recommend it as a must have. home-of-china
- I purchased this book based on the reviews that were published. I thought they would also have ways to identify different crystal company signatures. I was just expecting more than a picture guidebook.
- This is a very nice book for identifying crystal glassware. I like the black and white drawings of the glasses, because it makes it easier to see the pattern. I just wish it had values.
