5 comments about Applique Masterpiece: Affairs of the Heart (Applique Masterpiece).
- Ms Rossmann's exploration of many possibilities using a heart motif results in an array of very interesting designs, and her use of color is fascinating. However, these are unlikely patterns for a novice, since the instructions for transferring the designs and the methods she gives are archaic. A person skilled in applique can do much with the patterns. A good basic book on hand applique is recommended for others.
- I was hoping for some helpful hints about needle-turn applique but there is absolutely nothing here about the applique process. Only instructions are about quilt construction. I was also surprised by how poorly the author does needle-turn applique. The photos clearly show poorly done, jagged curves and obvious large stitches. I can do better than this and I'm a mere novice. Interesting colors and patterns, but that's the easy part! I was disappointed in this book.
- This book has every pattern well illustrated and can be used for every different kind of material. Well received from our club.
- Good ideas for color and patterns. I'll find a lot to use in this book, but I would include instructions in a clear and simple manner.
- Super great patterns - easy enough for a beginner, yet challenging enough for everyone else. Now 'anyone' can make a masterpiece in applique.

5 comments about Kake-Jiku: Images of Japan in Applique, Fabric Origami, and Sashiko.
- This book is so wonderful, and full on creative ways to use fabric. I can't wait to get started on some of the projects. The problem is deciding what ones to do. I just had to run out, and get on line, and buy some Asian fabric. Now I just have to find the time to make all the projects I decide on. And I have to decide if I'm going to make them into a quilt, wall hanging, or give them away.
- This is just what I was looking for. I am now in my Asian quilt phase of life and the patterns and images are great. Can't wait to get into my Asian fabrics and try these patterns!
- I liked the book, BUT it was one of Kumiko Sado's weaker attempts. I think she is running out of ideas, frankly. If you have any of her other books, I really would not waste money on purchasing this one, unless you can't live without her entire set in your library.
- The images we recognize in Japanese art and quilting are now accessible to the American needle. Such grace and style are yours with the patterns in this book.
- Applique, fabric origami and quilting with easy to follow directions, clear photos and diagrams and full size templates, a must for anyone looking for oriental blocks. I also have Omiyage, another must have and will be looking for any other books by Kumiko.

4 comments about Adoration Quilts: Applique Nativity Projects (That Patchwork Place).
- Rachel Brown's book, Adoration Quilts: Applique Nativity Projects, is much more than a how to book for Christmas quilts. While the illustrations and directions in this book clearly teach the reader how to construct attractive Christmas quilts, there is a story here. Ms. Brown takes you on a Biblical and personal journey with each quilt block. She puts the spiritual element back into Christmas by sharing her family traditions. After reading the role each block plays in telling the story of Jesus's birth, I felt better prepared to tell the story, creating my own nativity quilt.
I recommend this book to people who like quilting , applique work ,and Christmas stories.
- This is a book that is jam packed with beautiful applique quilt patterns based on nativity themes. It includes instructions for a lovely tree skirt and other decorative quilt projects. I've seen patterns like these offered block of the month style at $7 to $12 per block ... Here you have many usable, detailed designs and configurations all for the price of one book. If you shy away from detailed applique, this book probably isn't for you. However, if you are a quilter looking for projects that focus on the spiritual meaning of Christmas, and enjoy McKenna Ryan or Mount Redoubt style applique designs, you will enjoy making the projects in this book.
- Rachel W.N. Brown's ADORATION QUILTS: APPLIQUE NATIVITY PROJECTS uses Christmas and the story of the Nativity as a theme, offering projects which blend Nativity themes into quilts. Table settings, fireplace mantle decorations, and more. A top pick for holiday decorators handy with the needle.
- I was looking for a good book of Christmas patterns that were based on the holy family and I found it it in this book. It is very flexible in its patterns and possibilities for different projects and I was thoroughly pleased. I definitely recommend this book for people looking for patterns in this area.

- Loved the ideas, and will try this technique as soon as I can gather my supplies. However, I fell in love with the quilt, and she doesn't discuss her unusual corded border. The quilt is wonderful, but the border makes it stunning.
- The instructions are great, step by step color photos, catering for the beginner up to the advanced quilter, there are good tips and ideas, and the quilt on the front is the pattern inside.
- This is everything the reviews said it was, I bought 2 and gave one to a friend. She has not done applique at this point, now she is excited,I am a needle turn person and this is the first time I have seen machine applique that I will try.Sharon is a great talent and this will make you want to seek out her work and if you are very lucky take a class from her.
This is a must have to anyone who loves quilting!
- The most informative and inspirational book for a long time.
Very good detailed pictures and wonderful instructions. Pure drool
material looking at what Sharon has made. She is a master!
If you want to make an amazing quilt buy this book!!!
- Step-by-step, detailed instructions with outstanding photos that demonstrate each step. By using this method, a beginner could produce results formerly achieved only by an experienced quilter.

4 comments about Fun, Fast Fusies: Love to Quilt.
- I ordered this book after attending a lecture/demo by the author, Frieda Anderson. The book pertains to the art of fusible quilting and the directions are very concise. I would (have) recommended this book to others.
- Fun, Fast Fusies is an excellent how-to book. Fusing images on
fabric is becoming very popular and Frieda Anderson tells us just how to do it with clear directions and illustrations.
- This author has laid out doing fusible applique and free motion quilting nicely. The book also has great full sized patterns so you don't have to find a copier to enlarge them. A fun way to create a quick, small art quilt.
- After reading Fun, Fast Fusies, I was so impressed by the simple, easy to follow directions that I decided to google the author and find her website. I was delighted to see she was selling the kits for the patterns in the book! I ordered all of them and upon receiving the fabric kits was elated!!! Great author, great book, beautiful hand-dyed fabric kits. If you are interested in art quilts or fabric collage, I urge you to select this book...you won't be sorry!

1 comments about Quilts of a Different Color.
- This is a beautiful book on a very simple concept. There are several projects to try out and an interesting section in the front about designing your own quilts. I have not yet ordered some of the color setting products, so have only been creating the designs and not coloring. You may be able to substitute other color fixers but I would suggest testing on very small samples and then washing them repeatedly to see what the results are.
I really like this book!

5 comments about Color-Palette Applique: Winter in the Garden (That Patchwork Place).
- I am finding more quilt patterns are coming like dress patterns--- in a self-contained envelope - plasticized and made of cardboard rather than paper - that is re-sealable. Each envelope contains all the instructions on large sheets of paper that can be taped to a wall or pinned to a bulletin board. This prevents your instructions from becoming lost in the maze of fabric you're working with.
The appliqué patterns are at full size so no copying is needed. You can take the pattern out of the envelope and start right in on creating your own winter garden. The directions for creating "Winter in the Garden" are well written and have various tips such as how to do mitered corners and the best way to cut your fabric. A color photo of the finished quilt is in the directions and, of course, on the envelope itself.
A bonus booklet is included with this pattern. "Color-Palette Appliqué" explains what a color palette is and how the author used it in creating this project. If you read through this booklet before beginning your quilt, it will explains all the codes used in the directions.
If you are an avid gardener or know someone who is, this quilt is one that will keep the summer blooms alive all year long. Make it for yourself or as a gift and the summer colors will brighten the room as well as keep a body warm.
- I love this gorgeous pattern which comes with very clear instructions and advice as to how to make this quilt. I love applique as it is small enough to carry with me when I am out and want something to work on. I love working on it in the car while riding, and I work on it during my lunch break. Although I enjoy machine quilting and piecing I love the portability of this as well.

- This is a wonderful pattern. I was expecting a book not a envelope of patterns but it was really great, The pattern is ready to use you don't have to enlarge so you can use it. I'm extremely happy with the way Amazon handled the order. With the first order not getting here. They made sure the second got here the next day. Thank you so much YOUR GREAT.
- Beautifully written directions but be aware this is really a pattern not a book. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves applique.
- This product is too good to be true. Speedy service, delivers as promised if not before time specified. AS this is the first time that i have used AMAZON i am amazed at the professionalism shown with 1.advertising, 2.delivery details and lastly but not least 3. the product... all outstanding

- Great book many many great ideas in it am glad i got it
- I think I now have all of Townswick's books. Her design and hand applique work is stunning, and her directions are excellent. A great choice for anyone who wants to take applique to the next level
- Have you ever said: "I will never do that!" That is just what I said about appliqué. "Oh, it is so beautiful but I will never do that! It is just too involved". OK, so now I have to take back what I said. I have been gathering different instruction books on appliqué techniques and APPLIQUÉ TAKES WING provides new techniques for me to learn.
The book is about some of my favorite subjects: birds, moths, butterflies and dragonflies. It contains six pages of basic hand-appliqué techniques, six pages of special techniques such as those for making flower stems and a page on color blending. There is a 20 page gallery of quilts and wall hangings to peruse over before you choose which one you will start. (Of course, you will make all of them but you have to start somewhere!). The final pages are the how-to's of making the twelve different patterns.--- six birds and six butterflies and moths (the dragonfly falls into this category).
The fabrics used in this book will make me stretch as I have only used 100% cotton up to now. The moths and dragonfly uses metallic sheer and metallic mesh fabric for wings. Each set of instructions for each block has a fabric and supply list followed by the instructions for putting it all together. There are plenty of graphics and photos so you won't get lost. Each block also lists the techniques that are used to create that particular block. The final page contains a resource list as no craft book is complete without this page.
- An excellent book, exquisite designs indeed, easy directions, am excited to start. For those who want to express their artistic side.
- This book was a gift, but it was well received therefore I think that it was beneficial to the recipient.

- I can't wait to make this quilt. I saw one made up at a quilt show or something very similar and couldn't wait to find the pattern. It is just so clever and fun. My quilt group is planning on making it as a block of the month. I am so happy I bought this book, it makes me smile every time I look through it.
Sincerely, LPotts
- This purchase was made for my wife who states:-
Having had the book for a few weeks now, I find the contents very informative, and the instructions easey to follow. I can recommend this product to any would-be enthusiast.
- Excellent book of Christmas applique designs! I did take my book to a copy shop and enlarged the designs, but this is easily and inexpensively done. Beautiful and colorful use of fabrics. Applique designs are simple to make. This books inspires fun and creativity. Definitely, one of my very favorite quilt books.
- i love this book very simple to follow very easy yet the outcome so fantastic. This is good book for quilters of all ages and all levels of skill.
- I found this to be a charming project. Very versatile for making one block or many. Also, the possibilities were endless for decorating and using materials, buttons etc on hand. Instructions were clear and it could be easy (iron on ) or more experienced (hand appliqued completely.) I will be making several for next year. (Not enough time for this year)!
