5 comments about Snippet Sensations: Fast, Fusible Fabric Art for Quilted or Framed Projects.
  1. I discovered this book after watching the author on a sewing tv program. I really like the impressionist art style and thought what a great way to combine two art forms. However, in the tv show, she showed how to make flowers. They are NOT included this book. I did make the wreath that she discusses in the book and in one afternoon, I had a beautiful wallhanging. The step by step directions are great. Don't be intimitated by the samples she gives, just go for it!!

  2. As an artist, but not a seamstress, I found this book to be very complete as far as instruction in this method of creating fabric pictures. I found the method to be very simple to create interesting, original pictures from scraps of material Having no previous experience with fusible web, I had no problem following the directions and creating enjoyable pictures to give as gifts and to sell. I was not interested in the quilting directions included, but think snippet sensations. is a marvelous new hobby anyone should be able to do with ease

  3. After receiving this book, I read it cover to cover twice! I couldn't wait to get started. This is so much fun. The author explains every step thoroughly. There are a lot of pictures to help guide one as well. Once you get started on the technique, you can't stop. I love 'painting' with fabric. This author perfected the technique. Definitely worth buying.

  4. I have had a heck of a time starting to quilt, as I am afraid of color selection, that is- until I bought this book! This is the most fun I've had in years! The designs are beautiful, fun, and belive it or not, EASY! I am just a beginner! You can complete a project in about a day! This book is fantastic! The other snippet book is wonderful too! If you don't buy these books, you are a crazy quilt!

  5. I'd been dying to make the flying eagle that's on the back cover, but I had some difficulty with the instructions, which untilmately lead to a dud project. They weren't specific about which pieces NOT to add 1/4" to, as well as the sample progression photos were not all taken of the same project. I ended up with a flying torpedo/pidgeon/hot dog because I added 1/4" to the white head & tail. The rest of it was fine. Sigh.

  2. This is a delightful quilting book with ladies of the past. If reminds me of the paper dolls I use to dress as a young girl. I have wanted to purchase this book for a long time and now that I have I am not disapointed. I can hardly wait to make a quit using these lovey girls, and all the other added ideas to combine them in the life of yesterday.

  1. As always, Jane Townswick has created another book of stunning applique designs. She also has a few new hints and tips to share with us. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves applique!

  2. Beautiful. That pretty well sums up what comes to mind when looking at the designs in this book. Author June Townswick discusses using many different fabrics on a single applique shape to get a nice blended effect. She describes the various techniques that she uses and the construction of the design right down to the type of stitch. Using this technique she presents photographs of some of the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen. They simply have to be seen to be believed! This is a very highly recommended book to anyone who would like to do something unique and end up with a true conversation starter. If you have any interest at all in applique you owe it to yourself to pick up this book and examine the possibilities presented here.

  3. I have to say I did not like this as much as Jane's 1st Applique book, however it is an excellent tutorial on this brand new technique. I am a die hard needle turn applique artist and can't really see myself doing what I personally would call "rainbow" or "gradation" applique. I don't see it as color blending because there is no blending going on. I think of blending as the subtle mixing of color and this technique seems to be just side by side placement of different shades making it look mostly striped in my opinion.
I do feel Jane does an Excellent job of describing and teaching her method and there are TONS of applications where this method would be very applicable such as in landscapes and such. But as far as working this method into most of the reproduction, Baltimore or very traditional patterns I like to work with, I just don't feel the "color-blend" Jane uses is the same as I picture when I think of blending.

    Regards

  4. I am a quilter but new to hand applique and love this book. It is insightful, helpful and easy to understand. High recommend it.
