  1. This provided great protection for the expensive glass vial of insulin. This case should come standard with every vial!

  2. No, it's not sold by a gecko. But it is definitely an insurance policy. My old insulin case fell off the shelf while I was drawing up a dose. It was only a couple of feet, but the brand new bottle of Lantus shattered. The case was ruined, the smell was awful, and over $100 worth of insulin was lost.

I found these cute little insulin cozies when I came to look for a new case. The short one fits my Novolog bottle, and the tall one fits the Lantus. The material fits the bottles snugly, and provides a thick, dense cushion all the way around. The padding on the bottom is just a little thinner, but the bottle is still well-protected. Hopefully, it'll be a long time before I drop another bottle, but if I do, I'll be in a much better situation.

The colors are bright and make identification of different bottles very easy. (As long as you remember which bottle gets which color...)

It's easy to get bottles back out, too. Just push on that thinner area on the bottom. The bottle moves easily, but stays under control. It won't pop out, but the top will come just far enough that you can get a good grip on it. Also useful if you want to take a quick look to see how much is left inside.

There are only two disadvantages. One is that the cushioning makes the bottles larger. You may need to find a new case. But at least you won't have to worry about them being tossed around and broken if left loose.

The other is the lack of transparency. You have to push part of the bottle out to see how much is left, and you have to pull the whole bottle out if you forget which kind of insulin is inside. A little plastic window might be a nice addition, if they could do it safely and cheaply.

Still, any way you look at it, it's a small price to pay to protect such an expensive, life-saving medicine.

  3. What a great idea! These come in handy when traveling and you need to take extra insulin along. I get very nervous that we will drop the insulin vial while on vacation and find ourselves short with no way to get more. This gives me a little more confidence when going on extended trips.

  4. A really cool idea especially if you've ever dropped an insulin bottle before and had to pay out of pocket for a new one! I just don't use it as much as I expected to, especially since we're on the pump and don't have to take insulin everywhere with us anymore. Good idea if you have tile floors!

  1. My brother-in-law is a diabetic and needs to have his insulin on a regular basis. He had gone to just sticking the syringe in his shirt pocket much to my sister's consternation. This is a much better solution!

  1. When I saw this, thought it would be excellent for traveling. It arrived only 2 days after purchase so it definitely arrived in time to be used.

  2. My daughter is carrying this item in Texas 100+ degree heat. I don't know how we lived without it. If I need to purchase it once a year due to wear and tear, it will still be more than worth it.

    Andrea

  3. I bought the insulpack with digital temperature reading for my sons. One has insulin dependent(type 1) diabetes and the other has growth hormone deficiency. We were going on a trip from KY to San Diego to Legoland and needed to keep the medicines between 36 and 46 degrees F. I thought that this would be impossible considering that we would get to the airport 2 hours before flight and change planes, have a layover and still have to get to hotel and check in before we could chill the medication in a refridgerator. However, the insulpak was a lifesaver and worked exactly the way it is supposed to. The pak never got above 45 degrees the entire day. Thank you for making such a wonderful, valuable product.

  4. This does exactly what it says it will do: keep your insulin cool for an extended period of time during travel. It is unfortunate that it comes only in a color suitable for your grandmother, and a color that will immediately get dirty the first time you travel. (Would Black have been so difficult a choice?) Further, since it is for travel, the addition of a outer pocket for an owner's name and, say, room number when the case is being stored in a hotel refridgerator would come in handy. But, in short, the most important part is that it works: and it does just fine. I travel frequently between the States and the UK and it has given me great peace of mind.

  1. As painful as this is, I regret to inform you that this is for International Meters Only. It is not compatible for United States units. This is after I tested the strips and they failed and a phone call to ACCU-Check confirmed the compatibility issue. Get the green colored box for USA use and the PURPLE box for international use. This should be clearly spelled out on the top of the advertisement. Other than that, ACCU-CHECK is great! PS> I hope Amazon adds a spell checker to their review/input dialog soon as well as the ability to search your order history.

  2. Boxes were dirty and not first quality looking. Instead of a box of 102 strips there were two boxes of 51.

  3. The price is good. But the shipping is too leisurely. I expect my order to be shipped within 48 hours of the receipt of the order. This was not met. I hope future performance will improve.

  4. Great Company to deal with super fast shipping and excellent prices. You can't go wrong buying here

  5. My order was for 102 test strips and I only received one box (51 strips). I had to call the number on the copy of the order enclosed which clearly stated 2 boxes, but who ever packed the shipment misread the form. I was told that the second box would be sent along with an additional box to make up for the error. I did receive the remainder of my order and the additional strips as promised.

  1. I have several of these originally bought for insulin for my dog and more recently bough and used for my own Byetta pen. The first thing you have to realize is that unlike ice it won't go from feeling very cold, almost frozen, to lukewarm as the ice melts and the water warms. I think many people expect this given their previous experience with ice. It essentially holds the appropriate temp as long as possible so you don't risk it getting too cold or too warm. Also, its not going to work crammed in a pocketbook or backpack but needs to be carried in a side pocket or carried separately where it can get ventilation of any limited sort (it does not even need to sit near a fan or car AC vent). The pack with its insulin traveled many a mile in the net side pocket of my dog's backpack and aside from getting dusty (as the dog is closer to the ground, of course) their were no issues with it. Don't expect it to hold its temp in any more then the stated temps, it will start warming at even a degree above and I have found it may not hold the temp for as many hours as stated if its subjected to hours at the max temp. Otherwise, it certainly solved the problem of dealing with ice, water leakage and sweating and continual change of temp that you have with ice.

  2. I bought this (not this specific size, but the small wallet) from an independent website, other than Amazon, for my diabetic cat. The first time I used it, I misread the directions and activated it with cold water from the tap. I did this just as a test run without the insulin. It never got significantly cold, just barely cool to the touch. Yesterday, after noticing it says on the device to use 30 degree water, I activated it with water from the fridge. After approximately 6 hours, it was no colder than it was when I used tap water. It started off nice and cold but did not retain that temperature. I ended up buying a cup of ice and put the insulin in it. We were on a 11 hour trip. I don't know that I am really comfortable using this without maybe an additional frozen gel pack in a cooler. I would welcome any feedback, if maybe I am doing something wrong? But I am not satisfied with it thus far.

  3. This product is awesome. I travel a lot & there is no more fooling around with ice & wrapping the bottles so they do not freeze. I've also had insulin freeze before while in motel freezers before because the setting on fridge wasn't adjusted correctly. Not a problem or worry now. I do volunteer trips to disaster areas & have had my ice packs thrown out or misplaced in the freezer by others....not knowing my situation. I can keep the Frio with my stuff until I'm ready to travel again. I just soak it in water & it's ready. There is no thawing on long car trips or flights!

  4. This is the 2nd pouch that I have ordered. It is the right size to fit in your purse and keeps the insulin pen cool. I purchased another brand (poucho) and was very disapointed...the cooling pouch only lasted for several months. The previous Frio pouch I had lasted over a year....the one drawback to these pouches is that when you need a new one you have to purchase the whole package, when the outer cover is still in good shape. This product should be offered as a package or as individual items.

  5. I spent 60 days on the road on my motorcycle. I didn't think I could go 60 days camping with out airconditioning. Shade and air flow were the key, I had no problems with insulin going bad, not one of the 2 vials and 2 pens I took with me.

  1. For traveling, one of these would be perfect if you could lock it. If you are in a hotel, other people have access to your room, and your insulin. Insulin and needles have safety seals for a reason. I am always uncomfortable leaving my insulin in a hotel or office unless I can secure it somehow. I have not purchased this project yet because it doesn't lock. If they add one, I am there.

  1. It's an OK carrier, but a little small. I barely have room for two Nuvo pens (and cram a needle or two) in one pocket, and the smaller has just enough room for my Aviva reader, clisk-pen and my test strips. Also, the ice pack is always melted during the 9 hrs at work, and the inside is barely cool. Being it's Texas in the winter, it's ok, but I'm worried about Summer. I was hoping for better cooling, and more space.

  2. I bought this bag so i could keep my insulin cold and store my meter, test strips, alcohol swabs and other supplies. I simply refreeze the cold pack when i get home at noight. The insulin is kept cold and it also includes a trash bag for when you are on trhe run.+
As a diabetic of 10 years its the best travel bag i have had

  3. all room for all. Neat. Cooler for hot days. Light weight. SmVery good product.

  4. This case is pathetic-- no room for tester/ strips/ lancets/ alcohol swabs. Im not sure what I'll do with it... but it won't be storing insulin.

  5. NICE PRODUCT. I am very please with this medicooler I find it to be very convenient, handy and versatile,it is what I was looking for.
