  1. It was delivered rigth on time and it seems like a good product... i'm using it and waiting for the results... good and responsable store...

  2. I'm pregnant now and one morning my husband says, "you should really make sure you put that cocoa butter all the way on the sides."

I'm like "what?!?" and yes, sure enough, there were stretch marks radiatiing from my ribcage toward my belly, all the way around my front. It sort of looked like I got clawed by a tiger with about 40 toes, and each vertical mark was maybe 4 inches long. I went to the drugstore that same day and bought a tube of Mederma, and applied it fatihfully several times a day to these new stretch marks for at least a week (now I remember only 2-3X/day). Now, about 2 weeks later, there is literally nothing there.

I'm choosing to buy this Mederma since it seems like the best price per ounce (and free shipping), and if I notice new marks, I want to be well-armed to treat them as soon as possible. Mederma does say their product works best on new marks, and I can certainly vouch for its effectiveness in my case. I've also been continuing to use cocoa butter cream (palmers, $4 from drugstore) mixed with pure vitamin E oil from the healthfood store ($5 for a small vial). After a friend's doctor warned her not to use Vitamin E oil after varicose vein surgery, as the scars would heal too rapidly, I've been a believer in its powers.

  3. I used it as recommended in the package and my scar was noticeably less apparent, smaller and smoother in one month of using it. Great for stretch marks to.

  1. After using Kelo-cote for 4 days, my scar is completely gone. Prior to using I had several dark scars on my arm from grease burns. Now I have to look really close and still can barely tell where the scars were. Awesome product.

  2. I used Kelo-cote under dermatologist's prescription for different scars for 1 year. In two 20 year old surgery scars (shoulder and stomach): kelo-cote only cleared skin color, now is back to same color, so no improvement at all. In new scar, no improvent at all, only relieved itching and pain in scar. Last injury in skin as result of a mole fulguration Kelo-cote prevented scar. Seems like kelo-cote is useless for old scars, and maybe there is a chance it only works to prevent new and small superficial scars.

  1. I have searched PubMed and found several research-reviews concerning silicone sheet/layer and scar formation. This abstract is from 2007 and the results are dissapointing. It seems like surgery and steroid injection are the primary interventions, and that silicone layer only has an effect on the itching - not the scar formation.

The linear (or "surgical") hypertrophic scar is the most common type of pathologic scarring. There has been a steady increase in the number of patients with hypertrophic scars over the years due to the rising number of operative interventions altogether. However, the therapeutic protocols are not homogeneous and they show significant variations. 200 cases with hypertrophic scars were treated by the authors from April 2001 to March 2004. 24 patients were selected in the study from these cases; and two randomized groups were formed. Each group included 12-12 patients, who were treated with either intralaesional steroid or silicone gel sheeting. The therapeutic protocols were defined by the authors. The aim of this study was to compare and determine the roles of these two commonly used treatment options of hypertrophic scars. The authors present patient demographics; and analyze the results and outcome of the study. Both methods were efficient significantly, however intralaesional steroid therapy had a more rapid effect and it lasted longer than silicone gel sheeting. These results confirmed the role of these two treatment modalities in the protocols. The authors concluded that silicone gel sheeting is the first line, while intralaesional steroid is the second line treatment for primary linear hypertrophic scars. Based on the authors' experience, in recurrent linear hypertrophic scars, intralaesional steroid therapy is recommended in first line, because silicone gel sheeting was largely ineffective. Prospective randomized clinical trials should be needed to further clarify their role in the treatment protocols.

  2. The product was recommended to me by my plastic surgeon. I had a scar on my face that I am trying to revise. So, needless to say I am being very careful. I am applying as it has said (twice per day). The scar is healing nicely so far (about 1 month), but it is difficult to say whether it would have been worse without it. The surgery was 6 weeks ago, so it is still a young scar. The ridges that formed quickly are just now going down and the redness is lessening each day.

In contrast I have been using it on a scar I have had for 10+ years and the difference is slim to none, but I will keep using it there. Fortunately one tube goes a very long way.

  3. I had a partial thyroidectomy in Sept. 2005. I have tried Vitamin E gel, Neosporin scar patches, comfrey oil, etc. Nothing worked as well as the Scar Fade. In just one month of use, I was impressed with the change. Definitely shop around. I paid $43 for the 15 g tube at a spa, but you can get it for much cheaper online.

2 comments about BIAFINE WDE Emulsion.

  1. My dermatologist prescribed Biafine for me for a facial burn (my hairdresser burnt my face with a hot curling iron). The product worked like magic! Within 1-2 days of using it, the pain of the burn disappeared and it started to heal immediately. I cannot recommend it enough and will always keep it on hand but Amazon's price for it is outrageous..I paid $26.00 for it at CVS but you do need an Rx for it. My doctor says she prescribes it for many things and has always had great results.

  2. I was in St. Barth's recently and got a terrible sunburn. Our host had Biafine in his medicine cabinet. It's great stuff, providing serious relief. But the price Amazon is showing is outrageous. Look elsewhere for this terrific balm.
