- This was recommended by my dermatologist for keratosis and it works fairly well. It definitely softened the patches but it did not eliminate them (which is asking quite a bit). Still, they are much less of a nuisance. On dry skin, it works very well but I don't really have serious problem. It is expensive compared to well known creams/lotions but you don't need a lot. Definitely recommended.
- AmLactin XL. Did not find it effective enough to justify cost. Will not purchase again.
- This is miracle cream. It has healed the cracked hands and feet of three family members. I have searched for anything to help my severely cracked heels and extremely dry hands since I was a child. This did wonders within two days of using it. My husband had the same results on his knuckles. They had cracked open from dry weather. There was a huge improvement after only three aplications.
Do not be scared off by the price. If you have seriously dry skin, it is worth every penny. Only a small amount of cream is needed for each application. This tube is going to last a long time.
The other AmLactin products are very good too. But, I have never had results like this from any product before.

- Based on other reviews including a golf magazine review, I use the Bug Band on the golf course. So far it has worked well by hanging it on a belt loop. I will most definately continue to use the product.
- I was very disappointed with the bug bands. They did not work at all. In fact I got a mosquito bite right where the band was!! I would not recommend these at all!!!
- Does not work on aphids. Or the lower coacatostial stratum of blood sucking insects. Ineffective against Insect egg larvae as well (in hair).
- Got here fast. Works good. Has a smell to it. Better then using spray on bug spray.
- I hate to spray myself down with fly spray when I go to the barn to ride, or work with my horse, so this is great, it works very well, especially in the buggy mountains. I wear tank tops and get bit a lot, and this kept them away in an afternoon trail ride in the wilderness. I am very sensitive to bites and this may be a life saver. Also good for my 2 year old son, who I hate to use chemicals on, but is also very sensitive to the bugs. Great for everyone!

- I'm one of those lucky ones that really is sensitive to poison ivy (or oak or sumac, take your pick). The urishol oil spreads like wildfire on my skin. At the moment, I use 3 different products, two made by Tec Labs Oak-N-Ivy, like the one here.
Pro:
-If used AS DIRECTED within 2 hours of contact, generally removes all of the irritant
-Also good on an on-going basis to clean areas to prevent spread (don't dig your nails in! see our other reviews for itch relief)
-Shake well so that the mineral spirits mix well
-Light odor and no discoloration of skin, nothing to flake off as you rinse it off... no "pink stuff" like Mom's old-fashioned product
-This jumbo size is the only size! If you're washing with it like I do, you'll probably use a ton of it.
-Also, can be used to clean clothes and I have done so successfully, but it does use a lot of product. (I would note that I often throw away t-shirts, socks, anything that might be heavily contaminated and easy to replace, just in case.)
-According to the bottle, good for skunks and other undesireables... originally developed in the early 60's to remove radioactive dust from clothes and skin. It's properties for poison ivy/oak/sumac were a happy accident.
Con:
-Only provides a very brief itch relief... for that you must switch to another item (see our other reviews)
Bottom line: Highly recommended. Been using it since 2001 and I love it. See our other poison ivy relief favorites.
- I use this every summer to wash off poison ivy when I know I brushed passed some. It works, I don't react if I wash it all off.

2 comments about BUG BARRIER INSECT REPELLENT 100% DEET 2 OZ.
- I purchased this product for a friend who lives in Spring, Texas. He loved the product. He said that it was one of the few mosquito repellents that would actually repel the hordes of giant mosquitoes he had been suffering with. He warned that it would melt plastic, however, and that it was a very powerful and kind of stinky chemical.
- Very nice size for travel. Just the right ounces for carry on with airlines.

5 comments about Freederm HC - Eczema - Dermatitis - Skin Rash cream.
- I bought this cream back in, I believe it was 2006. I have chronic eczema over large areas of my body. My right hand is probably the most severe as it is always prone to cracking. I wish I would've wrote this review sooner because I'm having trouble remembering the specifics. Here's what I do remember. I saw some success. Itching definately calmed, and dark areas began to clear. I think the bottom line was that it was far, far too expensive for the limited results I was seeing. Because I have eczema over several areas of the body, it seemed as though the jar only lasted a few days. It was $30 for a very small jar, and the additional benefit was minimal compared to what I'd seen with just some Eucerin cream. Beware though, I've read other reviews that seem to list this product as having a formula switch somewhere in there.
- A co-worker told me about this product. Her daughter needed help with a stubborn skin rash. The daughter used a small amount of this cream and good results were seen within 5 days. I tried the product and experienced similar results.
- I am a lifelong, chronic eczema sufferer who experienced severe breakouts on my hands, arms, neck, and face. I am relieved to have finally found a cream that worked for me. Before Freederm there were many days where I didn't want to go out in public, because my flareups were so bad. I had strangers ask me if I had been crying, because my face was so deeply reddened by the rash. Don't get me wrong it is not a total cure all, but it does lessen the rash symptoms and redness, most especially the irritating nighttime itching (I am sleeping so much better now). I personally found Freederm HC to work just as well as the steroid ointments without the harsh effects. I also know from having severe eczema on my hands for the last 10 years that my skin used to be really thick and patchy, but after using the Freederm HC for just over a week, my once rough and severly dry patches were just as smooth and soft as the healthier skin. It was a very welcomed sign to see, since I was always self concious of the darkened rough areas around my knuckles. I can't tell you how long it has been since my hands were the same skin tone. It used to be that my hands looked weathered like old leather, and now it is as though my hands are restored to a more youthful even glow.
There is one item I would like to touch on. I personally found that the results in just 3 days claim was a bit unrealistic for someone like me, who has had severe and constant eczema flareups for years. I found that my skin peeled constantly for the first few days to the point that I was going to give up and return it. My chiropractor who referred me to try Freederm in the first place, told me that it is common to peel. Afterall, peeling is part of the body's healing process. He urged me to continue with using the cream and to stay away from switching back to the steroid ointments. After 3 months of positive results with this product, I am so glad that I listened to his advice.
I have also used Freederm on my 2 young sons, who both get a seldom flare up here and there, and I am pleased to say that we get them back to clear skin in just 2-3 days.
- I have been an eczema sufferer for 30 years. I tried this product as a last ditch effort as the testimonials and reviews were so promising. I have been using this product for a week now, halfs of the jar is gone and I have seen no difference whatsoever. Please do not get your hopes up. I am anxious to see how hard it will be to get my money back as I have read several times that the customer service stinks.
- I was diagnosed with anxiety induced excema. The itch was driving me insane. I purchased the product with great hopes after reading all the positive responses however after faithful use for two weeks, it has done absolutely nothing, its not even a good hand or body lotion. I feel like I was duped by a "snake oil charmer". DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

- This product works great and is not very obtrusive. If you have to turn it off early, you simply put it out and can easily relight it later. Highly recommend.
- These were next to impossible to find on the shelf at any retail outlet. Was very glad to be able to order and recieve in a short time without having to leave home.
- This is an excellent product: not too expensive and it works extremely well.

5 comments about Tecnu Extreme Poison Ivy Scrub 4 Oz..
- I have suffered from poison oak-ivy for as long as I can remember and I am in my 50's now. No matter how I try to avoid it I still seem to get it about 3-5 times a year. Most of the time I get on my face and have to go to the doctor and get at least two shots. Last time it took me 4 shots to get rid of it.
I will argue with anyone that this stuff does spread. It starts on my arms and ends up everywhere until my eyes are so puffed up that I can't see out of them.
The only thing that helped me from getting this stuff was a series of shots, that was given out about a decade ago, and is now not available.
So I plan on buying this stuff in bulk for the future. It works. If you follow the directions it works. Just a few weeks ago I was doing some weeding and got it on my face and arms (was wearing long sleeve shirt pants, and socks. Followed the directions got a few spots still, but it did not spread and it did not drive me nuts from itching.
Thank you tecnu, I can have a life again,
Linda Creswell
- I was sold on this product until I used it. It does not help poison ivy outbreaks at all. It does NOT shorten its rash life. It does NOT reduce itching. It does NOT reduce rash life. This product is good for nothing except emptying your wallet.
- This product is a great alternative to scratching. I'm not sure how much it actually helps in stopping itch altogether, but it's a wonderful prep for another treatment, such as Ivarest. I use this as the first step of treatment of a confirmed outbreak, not as a preventative cleansing. For that I use regular Technu. When I know I've been infected, I use this product to thorougly scrub the infected area, which cleans away all the offending oils. The abrasive texture also gives a nice, scratching relief, which help in avoiding scratching with your fingers. After the scrubbing I immediately start treatment with Ivarest.
For me, this is an essential ingredient in treatment of a real outbreak.
- Like most people, I'm allergic to poison ivy and poison oak and have had innumerable cases throughout my life ranging from mild to severe. Absent a shot of cortisone for a moderate-severe rash, Tecnu Extreme works well at reducing itching and speeding healing. However, Johnson & Johnson has come out with Cortaid -- same function and effect -- for less than half the price of Tecnu.
- I *love* this product. It really works.
I am extremely sensitive to poison ivy/sumac/oak. Very small exposures cause terrible itchy rashes. What's more, I am allergic to common ivy as well. We have outdoor cats, and ivy all around the property. When I pet my cats, therefore, I am often exposed to ivy oils.
This stuff has the following properties that make it so excellent:
1. It removes the oils that cause the reaction. When I know I've been exposed, I scrub the exposed areas with this stuff and it usually prevents all reaction. If I've waited too long, it still cuts down drastically on the severity of the reaction.
2. It is abrasive. Often I don't know I've been exposed until my skin starts to itch something fierce. Scrubbing with the so-called "fine scrubbing beads" feels like the most satisfying scratch you can imagine, which is a relief. (I assume that it also helps remove oils by mechanically removing the top layer of skin.)
3. It relieves itch. This product has an anti-itch ingredient that works very well (better than cortisone in my experience). After scrubbing with this stuff, my maddening itch goes away completely.
The scrub rinses easily with no residue, and has a neutral odor. I keep my tube handy at all times! I can strongly recommend it to anyone who has sensitivity to plant oils!

- This product is fantastic! We live in Hawaii and at times go into the jungle which has some very mean bugs. We have tried everything under the sun and moon and found this to be the absolute best. Nice thing is, it doesn't have that awful smell that most do, it's not as greasy (who wants to grease up before hiking?). We can apply it and several hours later the product is still effective.
- I live in tropical Central America where everything bites and stings. I find this Avon product to work very well - better than any other product I have tried. It is not available here, so make sure to buy it in the US if you intend visiting the jungle or the beach here.

5 comments about Tecnu Skin Cleanser 12 Ounce.
- Every summer, I get in contact with poison ivy and then my entire body reacts. I usually end up with one or sometimes two rounds of steroids just to keep my hives under control. Ever since I discovered Technu a few years back, I have managed to keep my reaction to a minimum.
The instructions on the bottles tell you that you should wash ASAP. But I can vouch that it works *even after a day or two*! The trick is NOT to wash once and think it's done. Every time the itch returns, use Technu again.
And when you do use it, you MUST use it along with soap. Technu seems to bond with the oil of poison ivy, but to completely remove the oil, you must first scrub with Technu (a thin coating of Technu on your skin is sufficient, but make sure you rub/scrub for a few minutes at least to get the stuff into the wrinkles and creases in your skin.) Then scrub well with soap (perhaps a few times). Sometimes I use a piece of tissue (which doesn't absorb a huge amount of Technu and isn't too rough on the already irritated skin) to help me scrub.
But remember to re-apply each time the itch returns, and to clean surfaces of tools, door handles, and clothing if necessary, with this stuff. My experiences have been: You don't need a huge amount of Technu each time, but make sure Technu comes into full contact with surfaces that have poison ivy oil on. Repeated applications of Technu may sound bothersome to some people, but, if you are as allergic as I am to poison ivy, you will go to any lengths to keep your body from getting out of wack--and no other remedies I have tried, troublesome or not, have worked as well as Technu.
I have also read that cool/cold water is best for this situation as warm water opens the pores and allows the irritant(s) to get further into the skin. Don't know if this is correct, but it works for me.
-
I always had at least one bad episode of poison ivy every year before I discovered Tecnu. Now I wash off the irritants as soon as I can and never end up with more than a couple of bumps that are gone within the week! I never want to go through another summer without it.
- This stuff really works.
Buy it cause it will stop the oil and thereby the body's reaction.
Marevelous marvelous product!
- At work a couple of months ago we were discussing the misery of allergic reactions to poison ivy and I remembered buying a product called Technu when I lived in California in the 1980s. It was remarkably effective for removing the poison ivy residue from the skin. I used it sparingly whenever I needed it and it never failed me and then I ran out of it. Here in Kentucky I have not found it in stores, so went online to Amazon and found it there. I gave a bottle to a friend who gardens and kept one at home--just in case!
- I am HIGHLY allergic to poison ivy, oak, and sumac. Many times I have had to go to the doctor after coming into contact because I become so outbroken and swollen. We have neighbors that live behind us that have poison ivy growing in their back yard. For whatever reason they refuse to do anything about it. Any efforts from my side of the fence have been for naught. So now when I find it creeping up under the fence I just pull it. Then I treat with Tecnu. I haven't had any breakouts since I have been using Tecnu. I usually keep 2 bottles on hand to make sure I am not without.
