  1. it didnt control my diarrhea. i just kept going non-stop. i'm more likely not to buy this again. i purchased it cause of the brand. the brand is good in other products i guess, just not this one.

  2. Many years ago when Imodium first appeared on the shelves, it had lactose in it. I never understood why a company that produced an ANTI-DIARRHEAL product would include an ingredient that CAUSES DIARRHEA IN 25% OF THE POPULATION. Until one day, years later when the store brand loperimide hit the shelves. IT CONTAINED LACTOSE AND THE name brand NO LONGER was formulated with lactose. This is a condition that continues to this day, years later. Store brand loperimide simply will not work as well for a quarter of the people who try it, because it contains LACTOSE. Use this product at your own risk. You might be the one out of four who find it exacerbates symptoms. I am lactose intolerant and have had need of an anti-diarrheal medication on occasion. Do NOT believe ANYONE who tells you "there cant be THAT much lactose in the pill to bother you". There can be and there is. Unfortunately McNeil-PPC, Inc. will go on telling companies that it sells to, "Oh that is OUR ORIGINAL formulation" in an attempt to obfuscate the presence of lactose, and we will be able to obtain lactose free loperimide ONLY by purchasing the much much more expensive Imodium.

  3. The product is what it is. The seller was very responsive to email questions (specifically regarding expiration dates) and shipping was quick. Would buy from this seller again.

  4. Definitly a much better value than whats in the stores. Works just as good as name brand.

  5. While I was shopping at Walmart once, I saw the Equate brand of loperamide come down in cost fairly close to this Kirkland's product. They had a 2 pack of the 96-count for around $4 if I recall correctly. But now they've jacked that price up quite a bit, and I suspect they'll lower the price again when they have a promotion. This Kirkland's brand is the best price at this time. And as others have already said, it's the same stuff as what you get in Immodium A-D, but costs more than 10 times less than Immodium.

Most of you who do not have IBS or some other chronic condition will not need this much product. Traveler's diarrhea can be helped with this, but I found that it didn't work very well for me in my trip to China. If you're worried about getting traveler's diarrhea, you should ask your doctor for some antibiotic pills to take with you on your trip. I'd also take probiotic pills with you - the best one that I know of being the Align probiotic pill. And maybe think about buying a water bottle with a built-in filtration system. Or maybe a UV light wand for sterilizing water.

If you have IBS-D, follow your doctor's advice of course. I inquired about loperamide, and apparently there are no long-term safety issues with taking this everyday. That could change, though, so keep your eyes open. Some people take an entire day's dosage in one gulp. Others spread it out through the day. I think it's better to do the latter. You need to find out what works for you. Start with maybe one or two pills before each meal and see how that works. If you're too constipated, remove a pill or two and see how that goes.

One other thing. You can take calcium carbonate pills (like Tums) to achieve a similar result. Calcium absorbs the liquids in your intestine, thereby making your stool more solid. It's just that you'll need to eat about a dozen Tums with each meal. Who wants to do that?

  1. I have IBS ... I'm sure that's more than anyone wanted to know. But Imodium has been the answer for me. If I keep to a specific routine of using it, which is nightly, I can actually leave the house in the AM without worry!

  2. What is there to say, when you need it you need it. I use one caplet at a time. I have only had to use two ones. I carry it with me on any trip I take, just in case. I have it on auto delivery for once every six months. I trust it.

  3. When you need it, you need it.

    It really does the trick.

  4. On the other hand, it makes your poo smell really bad, and if you take the recommended dose, it often causes severe constipation. Beware!

  5. PLEASE NOTE: READ DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING !!!

Imodium A-D Anti-Diarrhea caplets do an excellent job of controlling and stopping diarrhea. When my stomach is not feeling well and I get diarrhea, Imodium has always been a great help to me.

Usually two caplets do the trick for me; but you just never know--maybe all you will need is just one caplet. If this product doesn't work in a timely fashion contact your doctor. If you have any other concerns, ask your doctor before using this drug.

In addition, this DOES combat traveler's diarrhea very well. I have friends who tell me it worked when they made a recent trip "south of the border." Now they actually won't take a vacation without packing these along!

I would use these pills before any expiration date they have. Dispose of them after that and get new pills.

Overall, Imodium is a very useful product; I highly recommend it for the inevitable times when people get diarrhea.

  1. If your tummy is feeling dismal,

    Just reach for the Pepto-Bismol.

    - Gail Cooke

  2. I keep this in the house at all times (and in my purse) in all forms: chewables, tablet and liquid. I use it mostly for upset tummies and/or the 'trots' for the dogs. With so many dogs (7), and extras when I have 'fosters', upset tummies due to anxiety, change in diet, change in environment, etc., are common & frequent. This product, coupled with boiled chicken/rice combo helps the pups rather quickly while settling their tummies and reducing gas.

  3. I had the squirts real bad last week, and I chomped some of these pills and it plugged me right up.

They taste kinda funky but they are more convenient than the liquid stuff for sure!

  1. most if not all store brand loperimide contains LACTOSE. Lactose is an ingredient that causes diarrhea and gas. it was used in the original Imodium over the counter medicine and came out ONLY when store brands began appearing on the shelves. It is a dishonest and disturbing unethical method of torpedoeing competition without the companies selling store brands ever knowing. All at the expense of the quarter of the population that bear some sensitivity to lactose. One of four people using store brands will find that they simply do NOT work as well as the Name brand Imodium produced by McNeil. If you have ANY sensitivity to lactose read the ingredients on this package BEFORE you purchase it.

  2. Forget the brand name commercials ... we're paying for those commercials and it's reflected in the price.

I purchased this product based on comments made by other customers. Great product ... and great price. I hope this brief review will encourage others to make this purchase.

  3. I have ulcerative colitis and I take generic imodium almost every day. Many stores sell a generic imodium including Walmart, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid. This product is by far the cheapest way to get this medicine for someone who uses a lot of it. I would not recommend it for someone who only uses it occasionally as it contains 350 caplets. But for the frequent user it is by far the best product out there.

  4. This product is an excellent value. My doctor recommend this because of the value. This product has the same ingredents as Imodium and other over the counter pills where you only get a handfull for your money.

  1. Pepto-Bismol tablets are convenient for travel or to keep in your car, purse, desk or locker at work. Tablets are easier to store, easier to measure out and less messy than the traditional liquid Pepto-Bismol. Each package of 48 tablets is 24 adult doses. Each pack of 48 is enough to see you through a 3-day bout of diarrhea since the maximum daily dose is 8 doses in a 24 hour period. Read the additional package warnings or consult "medline plus" for further information.

Keep in mind that you should stop use and contact your doctor if diarrhea lasts more than two days according to the package directions. The total of 144 tablets is equivalent to 72 ounces of regular strength Pepto-Bismol (six 12-oz bottles) and is thus enough to cover almost 10 days of full blow digestive upset.

  2. The peptobismol tablets are easy to take. The packaging allows you to carry them easily in your purse, travel kit or simply to have in my drawer at work.

  1. You have to really love this to publish a testimonial about a diarrhea product...
I don't have chronic diarrhea, but I've been taking Esdifan for acute attacks of diarrhea for the past several years. Every time I've used it, I've found that it immediately stops the cramping and diarrhea--and it's not constipating. I'm a loyal fan.

  2. I bought this product for my mother who had surgery and was having diarrhea because they removed part of her small intestine. For diarrhea due to those reasons, it is not effective, though it did relieve her cramps.

  3. I have celiac disease and it is hard for me to become normal when I have accidently ingested gluten. Sometimes the reaction goes on for weeks or months. Taking Esdifan ended it in 5 days. For me it is like a miracle. It isn't going to allow me to eat gluten of course, but at least it helps me heal quickly.

  4. This is the first thing I've tried for IBS that really helps and has no side effects at all. I take 2 or 3 with every meal .

  5. Esdifan has been an amazing help to a problem I thought I'd have to live with all my life. Nothing ever worked for me until now, I can't believe that it's natural too! You have a lifelong customer!
