5 comments about NEW SKIN LIQUID BANDAGE BOTTLE.
- Smells like paint thinner or something, nasty and strong smell that lasts forever. It's probably been 6 hours since I put it on. I put a 1 second spray on a 5 inch scratch from my dog on my arm. It covered it well and seems to be like putting super glue over the cut. It stings for a couple seconds and then feels better. The smell made my dog stay away from me for over an hour, lol.
I guess it's better than putting a huge bandaid on though.
- I bought this at my local drugstore b/c the Nexcare brand was missing. It does the job, but not very well. It SMELLS (like nailpolish) and takes at least 20min to dry. It doesn't really sting, but it is drippy and messy.
I cut my finger while cutting an onion and the cut itself was fairly deep (I think?). The last time something similar happened, I went to the hospital, and I waited for a good while before the doctor applied Dermabond. So I figured I could go buy this product in lieu of a hospital trip...So far, it's holding, but b/c my wound hadn't stopped bleeding when I applied the adhesive there is some trapped blood between my skin and the adhesive. My wound looks flimsy, like it'll burst open any minute.
It does the job, but not as adequately as I would like. It smells and it's messy (lacks viscosity), and it takes forever to dry. I hear Nexcare makes a better product (although the new version is purported to be less durable).
**On a side note, since my wound is probably "deeper" than most scrapes or papercuts, I should have held the sides of the wound together when applying the product. I couldn't since it was still bleeding...which might explain increased drying time.
- Finally! I stumbled across this product one day and thought it looked pretty cool! Rather than have a band aid that doesn't match my skin tone at all and leaves a sticky, gluey mess behind on my skin, why not try this? It goes on clear, it dries clear. It makes a waterproof seal on top of your wound and increases healing by like a zillion percent. I had one of those hard to heal cuts on my finger and this stuff healed it in just a few days. I don't think I can ever go back to band aids. Now, my only warning is that this stuff can burn when you put it on! The pain goes away quickly and it doesn't bother me, but I wouldn't use this product on my 5 year old daughter because I think it would scare her off. But I was a much tougher kid when I was 5 (my kid is a chicken) and I wish they had this stuff when I was growing up. This is an excellent product for pretty much anything you would put a band aid on. Oh, you gotta try this! (P.S. - It does smell a bit. It smells like Banannas to me, but a small spray of cologne will help that.)
- I forgot why I bought it,I didn't know it would be such a big help. The day before my birthday, I got a big zit in the middle of my right cheek..I manage to pop it out(don't do that), because I didn't want it to be big, red and swollen. I applied two coat on top of the zit, after it dry, I apply foundation and concealer on top of it, so that the makeup wouldn't have direct contact to the wound. It stayed put all day and all night long, even the makeup remover couldn't take it off..2 days later, the dead skin came off, my scar completely fade away!!! I was so amazed...couldn't believe my eyes..This is a must have for girls who have pimples and use makeup, this definitely help to keep makeup away from making the pimples getting worse..
- I agree this product does hurt when applied to a cut but so does rubbing alcohol or any disinfecting solution. I love this stuff anyways and I agree that the smell isn't that bad. I am constantly getting scratches on my hands while cooking, working around the house, or inadvertantly while playing with my pets. A regular bandage won't do for these scratches since they get soggy which can cause infection. New Skin is the only product I have found that really works to cover those little nicks without letting in infection or other irritants.
