  1. Good case for my TomTom One 130. An adjustment for the suction cup (rotate to the corner of device) has to be made so it'll fit in the case but it's minor.

  1. Very pleased with this case.It is large enough to carry all necessary cords and booklets. And especially nice that it has a hard case, to avoid being sat on or stacked on.

  2. These have been great cases so far. They definitely are sturdy enough to protect the unit, spacious enough to hold everything and compact enough to fit almost anywhere.

  3. Well designed, holds the cables and stand, provides hard case security for getting tossed around in a traveling environment.

  4. Perfect product for my TOMTOM 920. Love the Strap on the outside. Very durable, very rugged construction. Great product.

  5. Great item. Great service. Its a great case to keep my GPS in one place.

  1. Nice idea. It's only two wires so it hooks up quickly and keeps you from having wires draped accross the dash and keeps the power outlet free. Using this with a Garmin 250w.

  2. This cable was everything I was hoping for. It was no problem to connect and it warks fine.

  3. Not only will this charge the Garmin but it can also charge other mini USB devices.

  4. Not too much to say, other than this works perfectly. I wired it to a switched fuse in my car so that the Nuvi turns on and off when I start the car and stop it. You may have a problem if you mount this far from a fuse panel, as the large box is a little hard to tuck away.

5 comments about HP iPAQ rx5915 Travel Companion.
  1. I purchased this product 2 months ago thinking I could solve most of the critical points I read online but I am still struggling trying to run the French map which I successfully downloaded and installed onto an SD card. I did read that the TomTom application also needs to reside on the SD card because no link can be established between the iPAQ File Store, where it lives, and the SD card. The application cannot be moved nor does it exist anywhere else that I can access to install onto the SD card. So as of now, my French maps are unuseable 1.5 weeks before my trip. TomTom does not answer its "contact us" support screen and ignores this particular device on its webpage. I think that HP owes us a better interface and documentation.

  2. Typical Hp IPAQ quality combines the ease of a Tom-Tom GPS navigation system with full mobile office capabilities. Easy to set-up and use. I upgraded the Mobile Office for Office 2007 interface with ease. Comes with handy window mount and AC and auto charger adapter. Also charges through USB port on computer.

  3. After having and using this unit for 4 months, here are my thoughts:

The HP iPAQ rx5915 works OK as a GPS. It sometimes aquires a fix in seconds, other times it takes minutes. I find that if you enter the address that you want to go to before you are where it can obtain a signal, it seems like it will never get a fix. I usually shut down TomTom and restart once I am in the car. If I then enter the address it will get a fix fairly quickly.

But I mainly bought this to replace my aging Casio E-125 which had it's own Mobile Calendar and Contact software. This unit, though over 7 years old, typically responds to alarms and input more quickly than the brand new HP iPAQ. The HP has more memory, a MUCH faster processor, etc. But I guess that the software is more bloated or something because when the alarm goes off, it stutters like it's struggling to get the sound out and launch the reminder pop-up. VERY annoying! I didn't like the basic calendar and contact software that came with the unit, to I purchased and installed Pocket Informant 8 which is highly configurable but is still sluggish in responding to commands and alarms. It's a real shame that something so much newer and more sophisticated does the basics so much worse. Also, I usually have to push the on-off button 2 or 3 times to get it to respond. Not sure if this is hardware or software related. But also very annoying.

The wireless portion works OK, but trying to browse the web on a screen that size is an exercise in frustration. It has come in handy a few times, but other than that, I find it to be little more than a gimmick. I guess that if I used it for email it would be OK, but again, I don't usually have to, so I don't.

I would say that the only things to recommend this unit are the brightness of the screen (my old PDA was impossible to see outdoors) and the fact that it is slimmer and lighter than the Casio. Other than that, not much to recommend it and I wouldn't buy it again.

  4. I have owned this unit for 1 month and have to say I am very pleased with it. I have read alot of reviews and the ones that I have read that were bad are no surprise to me. The people who complained are not technically savy. Their are 1,000's of free applications out there to make this device almost the ultimate tool.

This unit runs Windows Mobile 5. Granted it doesn't have all the nice features of Windows Mobile 6, but you can download just about any application for it and most of them are free! Ex: I have installed MS Live search mobile, very cool app. that gives me the directions, movie times, traffic reports, etc. all via the internet. Another nice app. is Yahoo2go... I get syncronized email and contacts, weather reports, news headlines etc. And finally for video I have a blast with Youtubeplay!

The only reason I give it 4 stars is that it does not have a phone. But I purchased this mainly for the GPS and the Windows Mobile features. The GPS does take alittle while to acquire the signal initially. But you can purchase an optional antenna to speed up the acquisition time (approx. $19)

If you are going to purchase a GPS, my thought is you should get more for your money, and this unit is a perfect match.

  5. Powerful, convenient, value for money PDA/GPS package. Slightly big and heavy for use as a PDA to carry around everyday, though large enough to display sufficient features for a GPS to be functional. It seems to take a while for the GPS signal to lock in and hold a signal and occasionally the signal is lost while driving despite clear skies and the GPS having a clear view of the sky. The interface is fine, though I think Belkin's GPS software is slightly better overall. I do not like the fact that it does not tell you whether your destination is on the left or right hand side of the road. I also wish the input keyboard was in qwerty format and had an auto-complete feature to save time when inputting addresses. I also wish that it would at least pronounce names of freeways when giving directions. Overall though, it has no competition because of its excellent PDA and above average GPS functionality in an affordable price.

4 comments about RAM Mounting Systems Suction Cup Mount for Garmin GPSMAP 76C, 76CS, 76Cx, 76CSX, 96, 96C.
  1. When mounted in my car this thing acts as if it is mounted via bolts, not suction cup to the windhshield. No vibration or slippage at all. I can press buttons without having to support the device at the same time. This thing is much, much better than anything garmin has to offer.

It's not compact but the reach this unit offers really makes it easy to find a good position for the not so small gps underneath a sloped windshield and once installed doesn't look too big relative to the dash of the car.

My only complaint is that removing the gps from the mount is a two hand affair, not easy at all. You have to pry the 2 wings away from each other to allow the gps to slide out of the bracket. When I want to stow the gps when parked I just remove the whole assembly from the windshield. That makes for a bit more work when setting the thing back up.

  2. This thing is built at a very high quality level; the suction cup you can't even pull the suction cup off of anything when engaged

  3. Good suction. Swivels in all directions. Stays put. Easy removal.

It is practical and portable. I like the convenience of being able to place it in any car, as it is not a permanent mount. It is a little hard to place/remove the GPS in the mount, however.

  4. This unit did everything it was supposed to. I have two other types of mounts and this really was the most versital. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the some what difficulty in getting the GPS into the holder. It was very easy to position and reposition. It tilted easily, held the expensive GPS very safely. At first the thought the price was a little high but now I think it was right on the money and was a very worthy purchase.

5 comments about TomTom RIDER 2 Car Mount Kit (9K00.101).
  1. From 2 to 4 wheels, very nice when your going to us the car But. The power cord does need to be in for speaker to be hurd. A simple button in preferences to change to car mode. How ever there is NO microphone to use your phone hands free and it's agenst the law to wear your helmet in car when driving. So dust off your bluetooth head set, But this then cuts out speaker and uses headset it would be nice to have plug in mic for phone built into mount.

  2. The Base broke when I tried to remove it from the car window to place on another car window. I had it one week. I think it can be designed better,

  3. The sound on this unit is very good. And it sticks the windshield much better than I anticipated.

  4. Although the mount is the typical suction cup variety, the adhesive plate that comes with it doesn't remain "stuck" on a sun baked dash... otherwise an excellent product.

  5. It's important to realize that in the world of electronics today, so many items are created, molded, assembled and shipped, from China. The TomTom Rider v2 Car Kit is no exception.

That said the product itself performs almost flawlessly; almost.

There are essentially two trouble points with the car kit:

    1) The TomTom GPS recognizing that it is mounted to the car kit.
    2) The car kit actually supporting the weight of the TomTom.

    Let's take the first one...

True, the power does need to be connected in order for the speaker to work. In addition, the TomTom GPS needs to recognize the fact that it is mounted to the car kit which does not always happen.

When you snap in the TomTom Rider GPS and start your car, it will recognize the flow of electricity to the car kit and will wake itself up. In order for this to happen you need to make sure that the GPS unit is securely snapped into place and that the power is indeed applied.

I have on a couple of occasions discovered that even though these two requirements were met, you still needed to either re-dock the GPS unit or remove power and reapply it. At this point, it begins to work and at no point do you need the Cardo headset to get the TomTom to begin using the car kit speaker.

Second, another reviewer or two happen to mention that the mount, when used on a windshield does not support the weight of the TomTom. This is in fact true, especially once the temperatures start to rise from daytime heating.

The mount itself has RAM stamped on it, which if you are not familiar with them, they actually make great mounts. That being the case it is rather surprising that this mount fails to hold in place under duress from heat.

There is a solution. Are any of you smokers?

The mount holds the GPS in place by means of a rubber ball which is inside an aluminum seat of the same shape. When the car kit dial is spun to the lock position it applies more pressure to this assembly and is supposed to hold the ball in place. This does not work as advertised.

Since it is a friction oriented design, there is only one way to improve it's ability to hold the weighty TomTom Rider v2 GPS; apply more friction.

Unlock the car kit by spinning the dial and remove it from the windshield. Turn it so that you can see a good portion of the rubber ball. Stick your finger into your ashtray and get yourself some ash. Poke your finger onto the ball and rub it around. Then, spin the ball in its socket a couple of times. You will instantly notice the friction improve 150%. Clean off the surrounding mount (not the ball) so that it is aesthetically pleasing and remount it on your windshield.

When you have the mount positioned just the way you like it and lock it down with the lock dial, boy will you be happy!

Alternatives to cigarette ash include dust especially from a vacuum cleaner, chalk, gypsum powder, and perhaps even talcum powder. Just don't go out to your yard and grab dirt or gravel. The ash and powders will not harm your car kit like dirt will.

  1. My 1st experience with gps took me to the Twin Cities to look at a used Jeep. I looked at the road atlas before I left my house in central Wisconsin and got an overall sense of which roads to take when I got into the Cities. I fully intended on bringing my atlas, but I forgot it. Oh well, I borrowed my dad's Tom Tom One. I knew how to get to the Twin Cities without a map anyway, and the TomTom had the address programed into it.

TomTom got to the Twin cities flawlessly! I could have done that myself though. The problem was that the interchange for interstate/bypasses was being re-constructed in the city limits. The actual turn was opposite of what TomTom had in its maps. Things change, thats fine, it would not have been a problem had TomTom said "exit left I-490 North" instead of "exit left 500 yards" . It got me kind of lost, had I not looked at a map before leaving I would have been completely lost!! I ended up going with what I partially remembered from the atlas.

I have since tried other gps units (Magellan Crossover) and found it far superior because it tells you the proper name of the street you are turning onto. Oh and the Canada map on the Crossover is much more complete. The road to my dads cabin is on does not exist accorind to TomTom. It may be better than nothing... sometimes.

My dad has about the same opinion of the TomTom, in fact we borrowed it 4 months ago and he has not asked for it back! I purchased a Garmin gpsmaps 60csx after reading reviews here on Amazon.
I liked the Magellan Crossover too when I used it, it was a hard purchasing decision.

    TomTom=DumDum

  2. I just purchased the TomTom One portable GPS system. I have a very good internal sense of direction and I can read a map just fine but in New Jersey traffic, who can be bothered with that? I hate getting lost on busy roads and I often take long road trips to other states. This is a great device because it will talk you through your route, when to turn, it shows the names of the roads, etc. Another feature I love for road trips is when you get tired and need to stop you can push a button and the TomTom will show landmarks of all the local hotels and gas stations along your route (like if you only want a Marriott hotel it will tell you where the nearest Marriott is and how to get there). It will also show you local attractions and places of interest if you choose. If you are stuck in traffic and want to get off the road you're on you can hit "alternate route" and it will tell you where to go at your next turn off to get to your destination. I use it all the time, even at home. The funny thing is that we just built our home last year and because the development is so new it does not pick up on the GPS so when I turn down my road it just shows me driving into a dirt field! LOL. Other than that it is my most favorite new electronic device.

  3. A good unit for the money. If you want basic navigation with a few bells and whistles, this unit will do the job. I haven't made a wrong turn yet.

  4. If you want a good product stay away from Tom Tom products. I have used 3 different products from tom tom and maybe I'm a slow learner or tom tom has bad products, just stay away from tom tom so many better gps units to buy that are better. Not worth the money, bought a download and it turned out to be the wrong one and they will not fix the problem or give a refund. STAY AWAY FROM TOM TOM

  5. After one year of use. My tomtom one has a problem of charging. It is a problem of the device itself not the charger. I tried with new charger but not charing. I tried to solve the problem through customer support and experienced the worst custumer service. I will never buy tomtom again`.
