1. Magellan Customer service is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They offer a free 30 day map update since all of their products ship with out of date maps. This would be a good thing except it is in the fine print of their products and their customer support email address that their website list is the wrong address. I had to get through to their customer service by posting a bad review on their website. By the time they responded my unit was beyond the 30 day limit and they refused to give me the update. This is a bad business practice. Garmin has a 60 day guarantee which is posted directly on their website in plain view.

1. Lost my Color Merridian overboard and had to replace the GPS. When I recieved the new GPS I called Magellan to get a new unlock code so I could load the charts on my replacement GPS. I was informed I would have to purchase a new bluenav CD since they only issue one unlock code with no exceptions. Well my exception is I will never buy another Magellan product Hardware / Software. As for the replacement Color Merridian it is being returned today. In the future I will purchase Garmin.



2. I own a Magellan Meridian Marine unit. Just found out that you can only get 1 access code per program. I purchased 2 64 meg cards in hopes of downloading more than 1 map per card. Not only can I not down load more than 1 map, I cannot get an access code for additional cards. Lost money all the way around.
   
   Magellan offered me the opportunity to buy the Blue Nav XL charts at $179.00, but low and behold, they come with the same defect of 1 unlock code per program.
   
   I was a believer in Magellan, but switching to Garmin today!

The Amazon compatibility block says it works with Sportrak Color but the online Magellan site for getting an unlock code doesn't provide an option other than for SD cards which the Sportrak doesn't use. Go with Garmin. I have run into more weird documentation and support issues with Magellan than I can name.



4. I read the older reviews and went ahead and bought the BlueNav CD anyway, in the hope that Magellan would have corrected the shortcomings reported previously. Unfortunately, they did not. The biggest problem is the limitation of one map at a time!!! You can only use one SD card (the one you activate) and can only have one map on it at a time. You can change maps, but need a laptop and a lot of time for this. I'm a kayaker (and don't generally carry a laptop in the boat with me), so this product is totally useless for me in any but the most limited circumstances.
   
   Bad, Magellan!!! Bad!!!!!



5. I just bought a Magellan SporTrak PRO Marine and the MapSend Blue Nav software. I have never been as disappointed in a purchase or subesequent product support in my life. Save yourself a LOT of aggravation and wasted time... buy a Garmin. That's what I'm about to do. I will NEVER buy another product from Magellan.

1. I spend a lot of time in the outdoors and have been using GPS a long time and have seen lots of units. This is by far the WORST GPS I have ever seen or used! I'm leaving it on my dashboard hoping someone will steal it and put me out of my misery.
   
   The base map is hideous! Roads are simply thin little red lines on a white background. If you'd like to see what they are like...get out a sheet of paper, draw a line on it with a pencil. That's what they look like! I kid you not! That's all the detail you get!
   At first I thought it was the zoom level so I zoomed in all the way thinking I'd get more detail....NOPE..ok zoom all the way out for more detail....NOPE!
   
   Don't be fooled by the satellite overlay either. You get 4 free overlays and the rest you have to pay. If you go to remote areas for your activities they may or may not have an overlay for that area.
   Please....go with any other GPS and safe yourself from despair!
