5 comments about Garmin GXM30 XM Satellite Antenna for GPSMap 376C, 7200 and 7500 (010-00423-00).
- I've now used the GXM30 for a month and am happy with it. Unlike the antennas that I've used in the past for listening to XM radio on other motorcycles or in my truck, this design doesn't suffer from reception issues. I have ridden through the Sierras, as well as in built-up areas (San Francisco), never having lost a signal. In fact, it even receives a strong signal when the bike's in the garage with the door closed!
My only complaint would be that the unit is huge compared to other antennas, but it also has the actual receiver in it, so I can't complain too much. It's not a passive unit, so it does generate some heat, but never enough to be an issue as to where it's mounted. I have noticed that the mounting angle is somewhat critical, but as long as it's somewhat level, the reception is phenominal.
Absolutely recommended if you have a GPS that acts as an XM control head, versus having a GPS plus a (non-waterproof) XM radio receiver/antenna also mounted on the bike. Additionally, by using the GXM30 through a ZUMO 550, I have had no grounding issues or other forms of interference problems. Nice combination that works very, very well. Too bad it's so pricey.
- This thing is crap! The only reason to spend all this money on the Zumo is for the hands free bluetooth features in your helmet, otherwise there are lots of cheaper products to use. The XM radio is restricted from playing music on your bluetooth headset, which renders this thing less than useful. Garmin doesn't bother to tell you this in the product info either. CRAP!!!!
- To complete the garmin system you need to have this antenna with the XM traffic set up at the very least.
Good antenna but the price is a little high.
- I bought the GXM 30 XM antenna to pair with my Garmin Streetpilot 7200 so that I could get XM's Navtraffic and Navweather in addition to XM Radio. I have used it for about a month and so far I am very pleased. I tried two other GPS units with the traffic alerts feature before I decided to give XM's Navtraffic a trial. It seems to provide more accurate alerts and on the Garmin it will display a live traffic map that shows color coded traffic delays on major routes. It also seems to update the map often so you are given fairly recent info on accidents and slowdowns.
I also like the Navweather which provides not only forecasts for the areas that you are traveling in but severe weather alerts and warnings. I received a first tornado warning for the area of my home from Navweather. The XM radio integrated in the GXM 30 works well, no complaints. On the Garmin 7200 the display is large and it operates via touchscreen. Very convenient.
- I was happy to get the Garmin 7200 but wasn't sure if I needed the GXM30 satellite receiver as I thought maybe the antenna that I have for my truck might work, it did not. I think this is Garmin's way of making more money. Frankly, I purchased the Garmin 7200 for $470.00, I like the device but could never imagine paying over $1000 for it when it first came out in 2006.
For truck drivers the big screen is helpful, and having the traffic alerts do help but for truckers it's not easy to get off the next exit and go around because if you don't know the road there is no telling the trouble you can get into. I hope that Garmin comes out with trucking software soon. With all of the gps devices on the market only a few are for truckers, go figure.
With the XM service you get traffic and weather. The weather service tells you about severe weather alerts, current and forecast weather conditions. This helps me figure out if I want to shut off my truck for the night based upon low temps. I really can't imagine anyone wanting to go around without a gps. With prices coming down it's well worth the investment.

5 comments about Garmin MapSource City Navigator, North America DVD-ROM for Garmin StreetPilot GPS Units.
- Needed more detailed maps and this did the job. Just seems to be a bit pricey. It appears that online updates are not available.
- I used to be a huge Garmin fan, but they have really mucked this up. The version that gets sent to you is v8. As soon as you install it, they tell you that v9 is available and that you "may" be charged $75 for the upgrade. (To which I inquired and let's just say you "will" be charged.) I then found out that the v9 is actually a stand-alone, and not an upgrade version, so I could have saved money by going straight for the supposed "upgrade." I think at this point I'll save the $75 and put it towards a non-Garmin unit.
I am also having major problems with it in Vista, but hope installing it on my XP Pro laptop will at least make the DVD usable.
Disappointing, at best.
- Nice to see that Garmin is still providing a map product for this older platform. It's a backup to my newer Nuvi 760 but still works well especially after a battery transplant. The updated maps database and points of interest are nice to have. The only reason I knocked off a star in the rating is because it takes (in my case) HOURS to upload the maps to the SD card. But once it's done, you're good to go. Thank you Garmin!
- I purchased this map set for my eTrex Vista HCx unit on 8/4/2008. It worked fine, but it was not the latest version. When I installed it I was immediately notified by the installer program that there is an update available. Next I got on Garmin's web site and it said you can get a free upgrade within 30 days of purchase. I called the next day and was told that, unfortunately, free upgrades do not apply to maps purchased separately from a GPS unit. The update to City Navigator North America 2009 would have cost me $75 on top of the $80 I just paid Amazon for the DVD. It seems like this is probably a common problem (stale versions in inventory), but the fact that you immediately have to pay for an upgrade to get current doesn't sit well with me. Most other software products include at least one free upgrade so you are starting with the most current version. I think Garmin should be dinged for this unreasonable policy. As a result of this situation, I returned the City Navigator 2008 version and will order the 2009 version directly from Garmin. I am not happy about this, but I like the GPS unit, so I will begrudgingly go through the hassle.
- It has all the points of interest that I am looking for and the maps are very detailed but the mapping software has some rather annoying glitches when it comes to entering addresses. You almost have to trick it with certain addresses to get them to show up while creating a route.

- We own a Garmin Nuvi 350, Garmin Nuvi 750 and a Magellan Maestro 3200 GPS receivers. We have been looking for an AC Adapter to charger our units. We were surprised to find this Gilsson AC Adapter capable of charging all three GPS units. I love this AC Adapter, because it uses a nice and compact right angle miniUSB connector, smaller than those available from Garmin and Magellan. This Gilsson AC Adapter appears to be very high quality with UL certified parts, unlike other generic AC Adapters. I have referred several friends and colleagues to Gilsson for this AC Adapter and they are all very happy with their purchase. I first learned of this Gilsson AC Adapter, because Magellan Technical Support recommended that I call Gilsson to order this compatible AC Adapter, as it has been tested to work with Garmin, Magellan and TomTom GPS Receivers ! It is very rare for a name brand GPS maker (Magellan) to recommend another brand name (Gilsson), but apparently Magellan has enough confidence in endorsing Gilsson products for their GPS users. Why pay more for OEM parts, when you can buy a high quality replacement at a lower price ? Happy Navigating !
- I wouldn't order this, at least not from Amazon. The third party vendor sent it in a padded envelope but otherwise unwrapped, with no manufacturer packaging or any other indication that it is a new item. I'm not going to plug my device into it, under the circumstances. Still waiting to hear from the seller about getting my money back.
Edit update on grievance to seller: the seller did exchange emails with me and defended themselves, saying this was a new item they had unwrapped for ease of shipping. They offered to accept a return, though refunding only my purchase price, not shipping. The cost of shipping it back will just about cancel that out, so I am probably not going to bother to return it.
My warning still stands: there's just no way to tell, other than the seller's word, that this is indeed a new item intended for the use described. Without the packaging, the seller's claim cannot be verified.
- works great. nice to have the option to charge and use the unit in the house or hotel room
- Once again, Amazon.com will be my very first on line company I trust.
The item is working like a Swiss clock.
Good job
- Having purchased this item, I find that it does charge the Magellan Maestro 3250's internal battery to full bars, but that they start to diminish rapidly. The charge holds far longer when using the DC plug for the Power connector in the car. Also, emailed the company requesting information on whether this AC Charger could overcharge the internal battery of the GPS and they never replied. This I found disappointing.

5 comments about Navigon 3.5" Protective Hard Shell Case.
- I have recently purchased this item and I must say this is the greatest product you can buy for your GPS unit. I keep my Navigon 2100 in this case and keep it in the car as I'm driving. The thing I like about is that it is a hard case and when you store it in the car you don't have to worry about something crushing it or breaking the GPS unit. It also as a zipper to close the case so you don't have to worry about your GPS coming out and falling under the seat where you can't find it. If you are looking to protect your GPS unit this is the one to buy.
- This product is ideal for protecting your GPS when removing the unit for storage or moving the unit from vehicle to vehicle. One of the best I have seen for the money and a lot better than the more expensive ones.
- Navigon 3.5" Protective Hard Shell Case
Great little case. Does the job for me.
- I got this case for my Navigon 2100. It looks cool. Gray and orange is not bad. The material for the case is decent both outside and inside. The zipper sucks big time. Very cheap and hard to open/close. Like other people said, the case is big and your unit will move around in it. Just your average case, something that I needed.
- This case is NOT hard. It is just a little purse with a zipper. Do not waste your money!

4 comments about Garmin compatible 12v Cigarette Lighter Power Adapter for StreetPilot III Deluxe, GPS 60 GPSMap 60C & 60CS, GPS 76, 76CS, 76C, GPS V, etc. (4-pin connector).
- I had been using my Garmin GPS with batteries for years. I used the rechargeable ones, keeping the cost low. I figured I didn't need the additional cords and hassle of the cigarette lighter power adapter. I purchased one on a whim, and I'm really happy with it. I didn't use the backlighting on the GPS at night before, because of how quickly it would drain the batteries. Now I can use it every minute, and I'm really enjoying my GPS even more. I'm glad I own this product.
- The Gilsson adapter is considerably cheaper than the Garmin, but it works like a charm. I use the adapter with my Garmin 60CSx receiver and have had no problems with it.
- ...and at a cheaper price than Garmin's equivalent. I took off 1 star because I emailed the manufacturer with a question and they never replied.
- THIS ADAPTER WORKS ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY!
I bought this because my GARMIN Cigarette Lighter adapter has NEVER worked well. The Garmin's connection is horrible. I have to push it into my cigarette lighter really hard and kind of twist it and even then, I frequently can't get it to stay connected and loose power causing my GPS to go into the count-down mode to shut off.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS!
It's reasonably priced and works perfectly.

5 comments about GARMIN 010-11011-00 Nuvi Handlebar Mount.
- If you are looking for ways to have GPS convenience while biking and don't want to buy an expensive bicycle GPS unit but you already have a Garmin unit for your car, then this is your baby. Has rubber pieces that keep your bike scratch-free and strong zip ties to secure it. The main piece detaches for days you don't want to bring your Garmin. Overall an excellent product.
- I can't tell you how much fun it is to ride around on my mountain bike with my Nuvi mounted to the handlebar. It certainly brings some strange looks but it works awesome, even in the woods. Now I know just how fast I can go and how far my journey has taken me. No silly wires required either like most bike computers. Highly recommended.
- I use this mount with my Trek Navigator 3.0 and Nuvi 200. It is sturdy and holds the Nuvi 200 in place well. My only complaint is that it connects with cable ties, so it is not removable without cutting the ties.
- The bracket works great. I also purchased a second bracket for another bike. I use it with the NUVI 200. Beware of the battery life of the Nuvi 200. It won't last for 3 to 4 hour rides.
- I use on this mount on my vintage Lambretta. The GPS was bought for car use but I decided to purchase the handlebar mount so I could use it on my bike also. I have it mounted around my spare tire which is in the center of the bike in front of my knees and the mount works perfectly using extra zip ties. The only issue is it's difficult to detach.

- Very good service and quick delivery. IT is packaged in it's original packaging with plenty of packing in the shipping box.
- Good product delivered quickly and professionally. Only issue in my mind is the need to have two separate items in one package. All I wanted was a car charger. Couldn't find them separated.
- I bought the 700 series. Good product and quite easy for a novice techie like me to learn.
I agree that windshield suction-cup mount if flimsy.
- This item works fine but its too expensive and cheaper soultions are available at local stores which I realized a week after when I went for shopping at walmart.
- Threw the original box away too soon; this works great. Have installed it into the dashboard stabilizer for now.

- The Magellen CrossOver comes with one in the box, so you don't need it unless you want to leave it in a second car.
- My car adapter for Magellan Roadmate 2000 quit working. It was miserable resorting back to road maps. Amazon to the rescue. The right product at a good price shipped quick. My Navigator is working like a charm again--so good to hear my Magellan girl's voice!
- Facts: I placed the order with expedited shipping on day 1. On Day 2 I called and requested the order be cancelled since I did not receive notification from Amazon that it shipped. At that time, their customer service person informed me it was already shipped, and with expedited delivery, they could not recall it - fair enough I thought. Latter in Day 2 (4 hours latter) I received notification from Amazon that the item had shipped.
On Day 8, with a total shipping distance of 400 miles to cover from the vendor's door to my door, I returned at my expense for refund via US mail. The vendor received it back faster than I got with EXPEDIATED SHIPPING, which was also the reason they claimed they could not stop the order.
In the end, I was refunded $13.00 for an item with a Subtotal purchase price of $17.43 with $16.98 in Shipping Handling to me. Clearly they charged me some form of restocking fee when they received it back.
Choose the company you purchase from wisely; do not focus on the price.

5 comments about Gilsson UBM-1 Portable Car Non-Skid Friction Beanbag Dashboard Mount.
- This device is the BEST!!!
I purchased for a Garmin NUVI 260 but decided to try it out for one of my Amateur Radio units and it works wonders for the Yaesu 897 Head unit, No slip or slide even here in the mountains of Virginia where curves abound.I see a couple more of these for the Tacoma.
- The beanbag mounts for gadgets (I use mine for my GPS navigation system) are a great way to keep an electronic device on your dash, and therefore safely within line-of-sight of your instrument panel and the road. Leaving such devices permanently mounted on the windshield show sticky-fingered criminals exactly who to target for a smash-and-grab. Even if you use a suction cup mount for easy removal, they can still see where the cup had been mounted, so pulling it off when you park is still no guarantee that you won't be a target.
This particular design is reasonably priced: I found mine for around ten bucks. It's also a simple and more aesthetically pleasing design to me than the others I saw. Best of all, it actually does the job for which it was designed: you can be shooting down a twisty road and it will stay in place on your dash! The rubbery fabric acts as a great high-friction surface. Mine has not slipped once in the two weeks I've had it.
This was a great purchase. Be sure you don't pay an exorbitant price for one, though; you can find them for much less than list price.
- I was ready to purchase this item @ $8.98 until checkout included $13.98 in shipping & handling. Navsphere lists S&H @ about 4.99 for this price range but doesn't even list this item. So, I will keep my eyes open at such places like BigLots/Dollar Stores and pick up a $2 beanbag ashtray (you know - like from the 70s) which is basically the same thing! or improvise something similar. Use your noggins consumers.
- To the guy who refused to buy this thing because of the shipping and handling fees - it's your loss. This thing is great. It stays put. The gps sits closer to me so I can see it - it doesn't block my view - I can remove it from the dash without the tell-tale sign that there was a gps mounted, and I've never trusted the suction cup-on-the-windshield device anyway. If your dashboard is severely sloped then maybe a windshield mount would be better, but I think most "standard" dashboards will accommodate this thing quite well. I would pay $35 - $40 for this plus the $15 s/h. Getting it at $9 plus the same s/h is a real bargain!
- This item worked like a charm, once it is placed on the dash, even at a steep angle, it stays put and never moves. It is easy to snap the gps unit into place and remove it when you're through. It was much nicer using this device rather than the suction cup on the windshield, and no unsightly mark that screams to every would be thief "GPS unit available here." I have recommended it to family and friends who are ready to purchase a GPS for their vehicles.
