5 comments about Delorme Earthmate GPS LT-20 2008 [Old Version].
- i had very few problems with this program as others claim but i have extensive programming understanding. this is not the perfect system for all most are better off with a tomtom or something along those lines.
- Interesting mapping software. Fairly easy and straightforward to use. The GPS works but is extremely limited as a practical matter because your laptop will take up the front passenger seat. Viewing it while driving will take your eyes off the road too far unlike a dash-mounted unit. Someone who drives alone for business all the time might be able to make use of this with a computer mount installed in their car over the center console. Stick with a dash-mounted GPS for regular driving assistance.
- I love the Delorme program and the Earthmate GPS. They work very well. The program is easy to use.
- This is a great gps system for travelling. It was easy to install and easy to use. Amazon got it to us even earlier than estimated so we could use it on vacation. Thanks
- It has far exceded my expectations!
It gets me to the location with no mistakes. I can not get "lost" anymore.

5 comments about Garmin compatible eTrex Neoprene GPS Carrying Case (Vista, Legend, etc.).
- This is the type of case Garmin should have made for their units, and if they did I suspect it would be well made. Unfortunately the Gilsson case is quite poorly made. After 5 months of moderate use the stitching holding the screen window started to come apart. Gilsson said this was normal wear and tear and would not honor their warranty (and didn't bother to send the case back to me). Also the hole around the click stick was starting to tear and the velcro loop was starting to get warn.
- This does the job it is desgned for but the GPS seems to work its way around in the case so the controls are never in the right spot.
- My garmin does not line up well in the case. It is always off center. since I often use the USB cable, it is a chore to take it the GPS out of the case all the time. The front side thumb button doesn't like coming out of that hole. I will probably end up getting a different case in the near future.
- I have the version that fits my Garmin etrex vista HCX. I use it on my mountain bike wrapping the velcor strap around the bar and clipping the carabiner clip on the brake cables. With this configuration I don't have to stop and pull it out of my pack to make sure I'm on track. At this point, I'm not sure on the projected durability otherwise it would have gotten 5 stars. I crashed once and it stayed completely intact. Nice, inexpensive product to protect my expensive GPS investment.
- I tried getting this cover on my unit Vista HCx three times...it took that many attempts to get the buttons and windows even close to lining up. The lowest button on the left side doesn't even show up in the window. When trying to get the unit out of the cover, I noticed the stick was being pulled way out of its socket, certainly leading to a button failure in the near future. I won't put this thing on my unit again. I won't even try it in the field.

1 comments about Swivel Vent Mount (Dual T) (Compatible with TomTom One) (CM047-S-2+APTTO).
- The item was received in a bulk pack (plastic bag) and did not include instructions although it was easy to figure out. The lower "leg" has two positions plus the leg can be removed and reinstalled backward giving a little more flexibility. Once installed I was afraid the lower leg would bounce out of position when driving but it has not done so. The weight of the Tom Tom unit seems sufficient to hold it in place.
Unlike another reviewer, I found the adapter plate on my unit fits snugly into both my Tom Tom and to the mount itself. Although mounted to an a/c vent, you will not lose the use of that vent (at least I didn't), my Tom Tom sits far enough out that there is still plenty of room for air flow around it. On my vent, I did lose the capability of adjusting the vent vertically, but still retain side-to-side adjustment.
If your vents are very narrow top to bottom you may find after mounted that your Tom Tom points too far skyward. By using the 2nd set of adjustment holes I was able to position mine at a good angle. Once mounted you can adjust the mounted Tom Tom to the left or right but there is no adjustment up or down. I have a moonroof in my car and the light coming through the glass or when the glass is retracted can make the Tom Tom hard to see. With the solid sunshade closed it is fine.
I'm submitting some images of the mount with Tom Tom attached in a Suzuki Verona EX.

4 comments about TOPO! Explorer Deluxe.
- They finally issued release 1.0.5.0, which enables it to run on my Vista PC. However, it is not nearly as functional as the old State Series software--and harder (maybe impossible) to configure as well. Many key functions are not yet available. It would not access my old State Series. Support is abysmal--the only way to get phone support is to finally figure out their support email, then wait 72 hours for a phone call in response. SOME DAY they may get their act together--the concept is good, but they are just over their heads.
- Don't buy it. horrible quality topo maps at maximum zoom. has no utility what so ever if you are trying to find forest roads or trails. google earth in terrain mode provides just as much useful information and it is free.
The program interface is horrible also. Links to download update would not work. No support at all from literature or web sites. A waste of 50 dollars
- Other reviewers are correct. This is a horrible implementation of a good idea. I already had installed the National Parks and a state TOPO set. Thinking an upgrade to the latest version MIGHT pay off, I paid additional for an upgrade.
Unfortunately, the programmers didn't have enough wits to install the upgrade into the same (default) directory as the legacy products I'd bought -- so I couldn't use the program. The interface was simply a confused mess when trying to analyze the problem. A call to "customer service" led to a message saying to send them a detailed email about the problem.
Finally, I figured out that the app had installed itself to the wrong directory, so I reinstalled and changed the default installation directory. That got the program working. Sort of.
Now, when I click on a National Park from the main map, it tells me I need to buy some other product -- even though I've paid for the National Park maps and this was supposed to upgrade me to use them better.
The user interface is simply awful. It is non-intuitive, clunky, and obviously designed with the user's needs as an afterthought. Think: early 1990s Windows3.1 applications on a modern platform, and you'll get the idea.
I also notice that the elevation shows up upside down on many maps. For example, when looking to see how high a point is, the maps show "0098" instead of "8600" when looking up the side of a mountain.
I "updated" the map I was viewing online, and maps from 2002 were installed. Why weren't they included on the installation CDs that were just recently released? Beyond that, the maps I've sampled are simply wrong. I see a jeep trail where I KNOW none exists, and other trails I know about don't show up. Without going any further at this point, I am sure the app has many more bugs to be discovered.
The 3D mode won't draw across dual monitors, unlike Google's offering.
National Geographic reminds me of Disney's software: turning out a lot of junk to milk unsuspecting consumers just cause they're big and they can get by with it. This app will make you pay more money to National Geographic in "updates" to see useful detail(i.e. 7.5 series).
Yep, unless you're on dialup, use Google Earth instead. It's free and it works far better for seeing the true lay of the land.
- An absolute piece of nonfunctioning junk. I can't even download maps. It says they're downloading but they never do. Every time I load the app it says there is a new version available. Either there is a bug here or they are updating the app every ten minutes.
This is junkware. Stay clear unless they do some major retooling.

3 comments about Suunto Observer SR Wrist-Top Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, Compass.
- outdoor oriented lad, grew tired of purchasing thirty dollar timex watch only to fall apart in three months. purchased this watch upon its inception around year 2001 or so. great watch, puts up with my inability to tender gently while being worn. my only piece of advice-spend the extra bucks and purchase the stainless/titanium band. the elastomer band does not last and is nothing more than a futile effort to stay affixed to wrist. great customer service, excellent & accurate features, and rarely do i endorse items but this one warrants lavish praise.
- I love this watch. It is sturdy, beautiful, easy to read, built like a tank and very durable. It is about the right size, unlike some other Suunto watches that resemble dinner plates. The compass is as good as the one in my plane. My only criticism is that the sound of the alarm is so faint that it will not wake me up. If a wakeup alarm is a big priority do not buy this watch or you will be disappointed. The faint alarm is a problem that is a compromise related to the high quality of the case. I am on a multi-decade search for the perfect watch, but this one beats everything so far including my Rolex Explorer.
-
This is my second Suunto watch, Everything is as I expected. This time I bought the watch with the metal case; smaller than the previous watch, but the numbers are large enough to see at night with the back light with out my glasses. All in all; I am very pleased with my choice and the product. ub

4 comments about RAM Mounting Systems Suction Cup Mount for Garmin GPS 60, GPSMAP 60, 60C, 60CS, 60CX, 60CSx.
- Perfect fixation on the windshield and permits you to operate the GPS without holding it from the back.
- When I first ordered this I was a little concerned about the holding power of the suction cup. I am surprised how well it holds, especially when I take my Jeep off road. Much better then the mount that Garmin sells for its own GPS.
- Muy buen producto, funciona excelente, y al estar instalado no produce ningun tipo de vibraciones cosa que si lo hace la base para gps de la marca garmin... lo recomiendo 100%
- I use my Garmin 60csx in the car while traveling. It is a great way to find local restaraunts and stores during a vacation or trip as well as mapping out your trip. My problem was having to constantly pick up the GPS to look at it. This mount is great. Suctioned to the windshield I can now just glance over to check our location on the map. Life made easier once again!!!

4 comments about Garmin Carrying Case for the StreetPilot C510 and C550 (010-10747-01).
- This case came with my c550 StreetPilot and while the GPS unit is quite good, the case design is flawed. The case is a neoprene-like material that hold the c550 snugly, with padding on the front side to protect the screen. The back side has a hole that exposes the socket on the back of the unit.
Apparently, Garmin engineers thought it would be a good idea to leave the case on the unit when you have it attached to your windshield or other area of your dash. By doing this, the case flops around and the whole setup looks horrible.
Yes, I do use the case, but I take the unit out of the case first then place it on the ball mount. A simple cut along one side of the case would allow users to slide it off the unit without removing the unit from the mount.
This case was either an afterthought or it's just a poorly designed product.
- The item in the picture with the carry handles is what I thought I was getting. What I received is a padded cover that I already had (it came with the C550 unit). I called Amazon and they said they would send the correct carry case - they were going to send the same item again. I talked to two different people in Customer Service and sent two emails. I was told if I was sent the wrong item twice, they would check into it. I told them to cancel the replacement and give me a refund. I don't want to do two returns. Normally everything is perfect with Amazon but unfortunately not in this case.
- The photograph for this product is incorrect. This is just the protective cover that only goes around the unit itself and is included with your purchase of your street pilot. You need to look at:
Garmin Deluxe Carrying Case for StreetPilot and GPSMap 176 (010-10231-01) systems
Instead...
- I agree, this is NOT a carring case, it is the best protective case!! I guess they call it a carring case, because if you were taking it out of your car, you would use it, but I use it all the time for storage and when I let someone borrow my Garmin, I love it!!

2 comments about DeLorme Earthmate GPS BT-20 2009.
- I knew going in that this wouldn't be a simple turn on and go anywhere device, but I never guessed how complicated it would turn out to be. The GPS device itself is fine, the bluetooth connected to my IPAQ without any problems, but thats where it ended being easy.
The PC mapping software is very difficult to use, it was a good 30 minutes before I figured out how to even see my own city. The tutorials were useless, and the user interface is useful, but very complex.
Also, the maps themselves are highly primitive, not much more than simple line drawings, I'm still trying to figure out if I can get a better map for it.
I would only recommend this for those who want flexibility of uses for GPS devices, but not for ease of use.
- I am a real estate investor who specializes in helping people avoid foreclosure. As part of my business I knock on people's door who are in foreclosure. I offer to buy their house before the bank forecloses. I needed a software where I can import my lists into a mapping utility. I was hoping to save hours of time, except that...
IT DOES NOT WORK!!!
In Arizona we are on a modified grid system. For example, 7811 W. Kateri Dr. should be near 78th Ave, right? Not according to Delorme's handy mapping software! Delorme has it located near 53rd Ave. Argh! This isn't isolated to one or two addresses--they're all wrong (except for maybe one or two addresses).
I have wasted hours trying to get it to work. Fortunately, I'm familiar with the area. It would be 10 times worse if I were using it on an out-of-town trip. What a nightmare!
That's just the mapping software. The little GPS tracker has no accuracy. It shows me being off the road, or on the wrong street, or going the wrong direction. It's just as bad.
I'm not being sarcastic. Delorme has been around a long time, but you wouldn't know it after using their software. Unless they can continue to sell their product to naive people, I suspect they won't be around in a few ywars.
Save your money and your time. Learn from my mistake: DON'T BUY THIS SOFTWARE! ! ! !

2 comments about Garmin Magnetic Mount Antenna.
- Most of the time your dog will be nearby when hunting, but garmin made the exception knowing that you may have a quad runner or 4WD and the rubber duck will be woefully inadequate and kill off your range.
When I bought my Astro it was only doing about .3 miles in the CITY - I measured the power out of the transmitter and had to send it back for repair, which brought it to about .67 miles. That's with the unit in my hand out the window of the car to get a signal, so I bought this antenna.
Range is now 1.77 miles - almost 3 times what it used to be! and that is CITY usage - taking it to the country went well over 4 miles. If you use any sort of motor vehicle and let your dog(s) roam, this is a must to find them.
The fit and finish of this is very well done - it meets all my expectations and is designed around garmin's antenna interface.
I was surprised Amazon stocked this but very pleased they did. Recently alot of electronics have disappeared to outsourced stores off amazon making orders hard to put together without paying shipping for each item because 4 vendors get involved. Cudos to amazon for stocking the accessories that make a product SO much more useful!
- I really like this Antenna...works very well...plus when your driving around people might think your a cop ;) lol
