5 comments about GARMIN 010-10326-00 12V Adapter Cable.
  1. Item is advertised as working with all rino series but it does not work with the rino 530

  2. have had this charger for Rino 130 about 2 mos. Mud, snow, ice and it performs well. No power losses & no shorts. Must have item considering short batt life on GPS's....

  3. The item is fine. It was the wrong DC adaptor for the Garmin unit purchased. It was listed along the Garmin unit as the correct one for the unit. It was for another Garmin line of products. I'm sure it worked well on the correct product.

  4. I don't know why amazon has this listed for the Rino 5xx series radios - they require more power and use a lithium ion recharable pack to get it. This adapter is for the 1xx series radios designed around disposable batteries. YOU NEED A DIFFERENT ADAPTER FOR THE 5XX SERIES - THIS IS A WASTE OF MONEY FOR THOSE RADIOS. Amazon should know better.

  5. I really love my Garmin Rino 120 GPS receiver, the only downside is it tends to eat batteries fairly quickly. Well with the adapter, all the time I am in my truck I keep it plugged in, viola! No worry about batteries. The cord on this unit seems very robust and is extra long, so its not a problem to put your GPS receiver where you want and not have to worry about the power cord not being long enough. I would ***highly*** recommend that you get the window mount for your Rino 120 and use it with the DC power cord, it makes for a great team and you will never lose your Satellite signal from placing your GPS receiver in a cup holder (which is I what I used to do before buying the window mount kit)

3 comments about GARMIN 010-10347-00 Earbud With Ptt Microphone.
  1. Received this as a gift. It did not work with my Rino 530.
After back and forth with garmin we determined that the earbud and mike did not work.
Amazon refused to accept return as 30 days had passed since purchase date.
    Beware!

  2. I haven't had much time to use the earbud with microphone, but from what I have used it, it works well. It's fairly robust, the only thing I worry about is pulling too hard on the wires from the earbud to the GPS, like all stereo headset users can attest, it is too easy to damage the headset by accidentally pulling the wires. I do not know if this is the case here or if it would just pull out of the receiver. But other then that long term worry, the earbud/microphone works well.

  3. It works fine with Rino 530Hcx. There is a single ear "ear-bud" = mono speaker. PTT = Push to Talk switch works the way it should with Rino 530. Price is acceptable(not bargain) for what you are getting. Uses 2.5mm 3-conductor plug (Mono speaker + mic).

5 comments about Garmin Serial Port Cable for eTrex Compact GPS (010-10206-00).
  1. I started to give this thing 1 star, but I realized that it's not the cable's fault that Microsoft Windows is annoying. The cable is what it is, and once you have a free serial port, it works fabulously.

That said, it may be a huge frustration to free up a serial port if Windows says it is "busy." If you have a Palm, a Windows CE device, some other PDA, a camera, or anything else that connects or has ever connected to your serial port, you may have to go through your whole computer looking for software and hardware that is 'using' that connection, before this will work.

Once I convinced Windows that nothing else was using the serial port, I have been able to connect my eTrex to everything I needed: Garmin upgrade software, Easy GPS, Geocacher's Swiss Army Knife, and Google Earth. Being as this is your only PC interface cabling choice when you have an eTrex, it's great that it works, and it's important that we all acknowledge that it does work. But in this case, three stars is like a C grade in school: "OK, it just exactly/barely meets expectations."

It would get 5 stars if it was an eTrex-to-USB cable -- but then Garmin would not make another chunk of cash by selling the serial-to-USB adapters required to attach these GPS units to laptops & other computers where a serial connection is not possible.

  2. Perhaps is a expensive cable, specially if you don't earn dollars, but it is perfect to complete Google Earth software.
I tried it in my contry, Costa Rica, and I am very happy with the results.

  3. Product slides into place quickly and works exactly as described. Cable is long enough to conveniently use the GPS real time with a mobile computer.

  4. The cable works as it should. Just be careful to note that this needs a Serial port connection at your computer. My laptop on which I made my map and waypoints doesn't have one, only USB connections. Luckily I have an older desktop with a serial port and transferred my work there to download it to the eTrex. I've heard of a serial-to-USB converter cable, that would allow you to connect to a USB port, but I've had no experience with one.

  5. Does what it's supposed to do. It'ds much slower than USB, but I have an older GPS unit.

5 comments about Microsoft Streets and Trips 2006 [OLD VERSION].
  1. Needs full screen mode, especially for those of us who have smaller displays... This is fixed in 2007 edition, so I recommend getting that one rather than this one... Other than that, this product is awesome... Easy to use, and works great with the GPS receiver that comes with it (optional)...

  2. Great for finding anything. Where the others are wrong, this is right on.

  3. Save your money and buy the Garmin Nuvi 350. MSST 2007 has managed to let me dwon, again. or rather it is MS. My BIGGEST complaint among many (and I will spare everyone)is the inability to take my planning as I set it up in route planning. It overrides my coices I add and reroutes me. VERY aggravating as the direction they give me is NOT the correct way! Another complaint is why should everyone have to buy a new version EVERY year. We should have the ability for a small fee to obtain updates, product maintenance and ACCURATE directions. My neighborhood isn't even on the map yet and we have been here 3 years!

  4. The USB GPS unit works great. It also works in Microsoft MapPoint (NA and European versions). The 2006 version of S&T now provides voice guidance which lets you set up your laptop in the front seat before your trip, pop the GPS in the front window and let it give you guidance hands free while driving.

  5. I use this software mainly to calculate mileage & gas cost while on the computer. Ill switch to a portable GPS unit on the road.

5 comments about Magellan Meridian External Power Cable with Cigarette Lighter Adapter.
  1. The cord works flawlessly, as you would expect. The unit will automatically switch between internal & external power.

This Magellan GPS really eats the batteries. It will drain two fresh premium alk. batteries in about 6-8 hrs. That is with the light turned off. So at least while in the car I can have unlimited power.

    Richard

  2. Hey, its a cord. What do you expect? I have a Magellan SporTrak Pro and bought this cord to use in the car on vacation earlier this year. The cord connects to the back of the GPS unit and plugs into the power jack in your car. Worked just fine for me using it this way.

  3. The product works well and the transaction with Amazon is great as always. What I needed was this cable with a computer adapter included but apparently there are none available.

  4. The prongs on the reciever end does not make good contact. I can get the GPS to work as long as I dont move it around. Screw that holds it on the GPS, bottoms out before it touches the contacts.

  5. Power adaptor works well, but I have reservations due to the cheap plastic. It is great so far.

5 comments about Garmin Dashboard Disk Mount for StreetPilot i2 and i3 (010-10646-01).
  1. Since original DashBoard Disk that came with Garmin GPS was affixed to a surface that was not level (an ashtray lid), it did not support my GPS system and had to be replaced. The second disk will come in handy when traveling in a rental car with your own GPS in CA or MN and you need to affix it so something other than the windshield glass.

  2. I used this product to mount my Garmin Nuvi 660 to the dash of my Tahoe, but after less than three weeks, it fell off. You can stick it back on, but once it has fallen, it never has the same grip. I suppose these things might work great on a horizontal mount, but beware if you intend to mount on a vertical surface. After having used up the disk which came with my Nuvi and now this one, I am looking at other options such as an AC duct mount.

  3. Amazon sells this for $18.99, but Garmin shows the list price as $18 (and they sell it online for that price). Amazon above list price? And for a simple flat piece of plastic? Ouch!

  4. Do not buy for Street pilot C series... Also the adhesive that's not stick at all, save the money and time.

  5. These disks are just what you need to mount your Garmin GPS in multiple vechicles.I have them in two cars-they work as advertised-the GPS stays put-but remember, these little disks are there permanently!

  1. It saves time from removing your mount from one car to another. Made by Garmin. Same as what came with your unit.

  2. According to the writing on the package, this fits Nuvi 250W, 200W, 270, 260, 250, 200.

Works as advertised. It is the original thing made by Garmin. Cost $25.49 w. free shipping from Amazon - which is very reasonable when compared to other online vendors.

In case if you wonder, like I did, the vertical C-shaped bracket that holds on to the GPS unit is also included in the package, although it is missing from the Amazon picture. The included bracket looks like this.

  3. Needed the charger for my mothers GPS. She simply loved it. The 1st one she purchased from Best Buy broke after only 3 uses. This one is holding up, so far, so good!

5 comments about Motorcycle Mount for Garmin Nuvi 370 360 350 310 300 GPS.
  1. This is not a high-end solution. On a 1800c Honda that is nice... not being chrome or aluminum makes it less than fantastic ... but it does work and I'm using it happily ... so, I give it a good review!

  2. it worked great and actually got us out of a jam the first time we used it...we thought we were going somewhere familiar and turns out that there were a lot of one way streets and construction.
The mounting device held the my Garmin 350 perfectly and I was able to read it well.
One hint for those with bigger bikes, this particular mount would not fit on the handlebars of my husband's Yamaha Stratoliner...

  3. I've been using the attachment to fit my GPS to my bicycle, not a motorcycle.
It seems to be durable, its easy to install and remove if you don't want to leave it in your bicycle if you step into a store etc.

  4. looked like a great mount but it did not fit my bars. add said up to 11/4 inchs but sure did'nt fit mine. Easy to get back money so just make sure It will fit. Gave it 5 stars because it was a well made mount wish it would have fit.

  5. i have an 77 moto guzzi with clip on bars so the original handlebar brascket is exposed centered below my tach and speedomater.. the low profile part of the mount that actually holds the gps is sharp looking..low profile but strong enough to hold over railroad tracks..you know what i mean.. the rest of the mount was ugly..so got ride of it and fabricated a polished aluminumn plate..and mounted it..looks tight!

5 comments about Garmin MapSource US Topographical CD-ROM.
  1. The small amount of area covered is just not worth it. Also, while it says it covers national forests, it does not cover the Angeles National Forest, just north of LA and one of my favorite hiking areas. The use of color is limited and makes the trails difficult to see and follow. I had high hopes for this product but unfortunately it is a flawed presentation of the data and I returned it.

  2. Unfortunately, the Garmin hiking GPS units do not have detailed maps, so I needed to buy this particular software for all the eastern National Parks (and the Adirondack State Park). The area covers most every park from Florida to Maine. You do need to purchase a small memory card that is inserted into the battery compartment of your Garmin handheld for data storage. I bought a 2 GB Sandisk card to make sure I had plenty of memory. The maps are at a scale of 1:24,000 (from USGS maps) and are not extremely detailed, but will get you to wherever to want to go (and return). There are plenty of accurate points of interest (POI) such as visitor's centers, camping and picnic areas, wilderness campsites, ranger stations, restaurants and lodges, trail names, summit elevations, peaks, roads and hiking trails, etc. You can even download specific quadrants of areas to your liking without having to download extra information you might never need. I have been able to share trails and waypoints from friends and download them into my handheld for easy use. It's not the most detailed mapping data, but it is enough to get you where you want to go (and back again).

The Mapsource program has a ton of valuable tools for use on your PC (or MAC). Most all of your hiking and mapping needs can be accomplished on your computer before (and afterwards) so you can save all the valuable data you need or have acquired. In fact, there are almost too many tools to grasp, making this a worthwhile (if slightly over-priced) piece of software.

  3. Before you buy, make sure it covers the area you are expecting. It's narrower than I was expecting, and therefore it's a little pricey. the parks it covers, it does quite well.

  4. The detail for the parks is really good although not all parks are shown such as several state parks in my state are missing. But I suppose that is to be expected with a National Park edition. As usual with Garmin map products, if you look at other than the parks some streets will just not be there or only partially.
Not all trails are shown either in the Parks.

  5. Could not load into Garmin with either an XP or Vista system. Helps were very limited. Am returning for refund.
