  1. After about 15 uses, the car adapter that came with my Garmin Nuvi 660 broke. It was cheaply made, so I didn't want to spend the money on postage costs to have it repaired/replaced under the warranty. This Gilsson adapter is better made (heavier plastic), shorter in length (so it fits in my compact carrying case better, & it doesn't get in the way of my car's coin compartment like the Garmin did), easier to grip (unlike the Garmin, it has finger indentations & a tapered design), makes better contact with the power source, & costs less! Garmin users should note that the Gilsson adapter does not have the FM receiver that the Garmin has. I tried the Gilsson adapter in a car that has only a wire (in the window) antenna; that antenna, as you might imagine, gives lousy radio reception, so almost every FM station is considered by the Garmin to be am empty spot on the dial, even in a metropolitan area. This Gilsson adapter worked wonderfully in my particular situation--the Garmin's voice directions came through the FM radio loud & clear. For those of you needing a replacement (or second, as a back-up) adapter, I highly recommend this unit.

5 comments about Tom Tom ONE XL Add'l Mount w/Car Charger.
  1. This product need to engineered. It's functionality is poor and inconvenient and also many time advertised as an add on also Tom Tom supply it when you buy there GPS navigator.

  2. Excellent. Screen large enough to drive and navigate. Excellent choice. Would buy again.

  3. this windshield option is far superior to the one that is included with the Tom Tom One. It is more solid and fastens more securely, yet the placement & removal are quick. This mount is more versatile than the OEM Tom Tom.

  4. This is a very compatable mount and it arrived in a very short period of time!

  5. The TomTom holder arrived on time and was just as I had hoped for now I can move the Tom TOM from car to car withput changing holders great thing.

5 comments about Garmin Beanbag for Portable Friction Mount for Garmin GPS Units (Beanbag Only - Mount not Included).
  1. Be sure you want only the beanbag without the mount-- Unless you've lost only the bag, this is not much use without the appropriate mount.

  2. I have the 7200 Street Pilot with the 7" screen. The mount that came with this unit was for dash only, and it used adhesive for this purpose. I later had to pull the mount off when I needed to move the unit temporarily to another vehicle, and I cringed as I peeled it off, hoping I wouldn't damage the dashboard.

The problem is in the past now with this beanbag mount. It works very well, even with this relatively large unit 7200 unit. I saw some reviews that said the beanbag would slide in some cases. My beanbag unit's friction is so good that it NEVER slides, but if my vehicle pitches wildly, such as on a rutty road, the beanbag mount will tip over. This is rarely a problem since one would not normally be navigating on such a road surface.

I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS BEANBAG MOUNT

  3. The base of the c530 mount is 2.5 inches. The docking station of this beanbag is less than 2 inches. Doesn't fit. Now I notice that the description has changed...no longer mentions my garmin model.

  4. As you'd expect, this unit does exactly what you'd expect of it, no more, no less...BUT...MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE BEANBAG SPECIFIC TO YOUR GARMIN. These are not interchangeable. I suggest you go to the Garmin website and make sure you are ordering the correct model Beanbag for your GPS unit.
When our beanbag arrived, the mount included with our StreetPilot c550 would not fit. I had read a review by another poster who said Garmin provided him with the proper mount at no charge.
I went to the Garmin site and submitted an email stating my mount wouldn't fit. After three days, when I didn't get a reply, I called their 800 number. The woman who responded was fairly snippy, telling me I should have purchased the beanbag directly from Garmin (price was 25% higher than Amazon) and suggested I return my beanbag to Amazon and order the proper one on the site.
Amazon issued a return authorization immediately (as usual...even crediting me for my return freight charges!) and as soon as I returned it, got a response to my initial Garmin email, from a very nice, supportive gentleman in customer service, who told me a replacement mount was being sent to me free of charge.
Draw your own conclusion...or better yet, just take the time to make sure you're ordering the right unit.

  5. I already have one and liked it so much I bought one for my husbands Garmin GPS also.

5 comments about Navigon 4.3-Inch Protective Hard-Shell Case.
  1. Love the case! It works perfectly and was a great deal. Fast delivery, as well!

  2. This little carrier is very convenient for protecting your new gps. Very easy to zip up and toss in your purse. A good buy.

  3. In terms of protection, the hard case is great. But it does not have a space to contain the cable to carry. If the manufacturer makes the pocket that the cable can be stored, this case will be super.

  4. The holder for my GPS systems is great and I would recommend it to all.

  5. I read some reviews before I ordered this case so I knew what I was getting.
It's a good case, I have had no problems with the zipper.
Great for protection when I put my gps unit in my handbag. It won't protect as well as a real hard shell case if it has a fall onto pavement, but then again my gps is either in my home, in my handbag or in my car.
So it's just as I expected, a good protective case.
Oh, and it shouldn't be called a "hard-shell case", I think it should be changed to a "molded hard-foam case".

5 comments about Garmin 12-Volt Vehicle DC Power Adapter for the StreetPilot C510 and C550 (010-10747-03).
  1. Nice to have an extra power cord. Mine came with the GMT-20 that has the FM traffic receiver, but I don't need that feature, so I usually use this cord.

  2. While I blame Amazon for advertising "Better together" , for the reason I purchasesd the cable, I found it was an expense to return an unneeded cable as the same cable comes with the Garmin GPS. The seller wants me to pay the expense of returning it plus a restocking fee. Since my purchasing it Amazon has changed their ad. However in three E Mails to Amazon I got flowering responses saying tough.

  3. Excellent replacement for the original cord that broke for my Garmin. Good price at amazon.

  4. The Garmin adapter works better and is easier to use than the FM 12 volt adapter that comes with a new Garmin unit. It is smaller and fits car cigarette lighters better. The original FM 12 volt that came with the unit fell apart after the third use and had to be taped together - until if finally fell apart totally.

This is a much better adapter.

  5. The item purchased works perfect. The GPS will now work all the time with now power shut down. One thing to caution about is the insertion of the unit into the power socket, be careful that you are inserting it in the correct manner. Match the 3 grooves on the plug with the 3 grooves on the socket and depress the side poins before inserting. It will not fall out.

5 comments about Garmin Nuvi 800 Series Carrying Case.
  1. I'm not sure why Garmin doesn't include a case for their higher end Nuvi's, but this one definitely fits the bill. I had read reviews on other cases which seemed to imply that they were too snug. This one fits perfectly. There's storage space for extra memory cards and the magnetic cover keeps the case closed. I'd definitely recommend this product.

  2. I tried to find this case at our local big box electric stores without any luck so I ordered it sight unseen based on the other reviews. I have a Nuvi 760 and this case is so much better than the standard Garmin case for protection and convenience it's remarkable. Highly recommended!

  3. This case if awesome! The best price I could find. It closes with integrated magnets. It fits like a glove. It comes with a belt loop in case you want to use pedestrian/biking modes(garmin 760). I appreciate the protection both for the housing and screen, especially over the other cases for which I shopped around. It is sturdy, so if you want to just keep it in a gps bag, or use it by itself, it's perfect.

  4. Item was exactly as described and was shipped fast. Thanks for the great product.

  5. At first I thought I could get away without a protective case for my NUVI 850, but decided to give it a try since I do not leave the device in my vehicle. I just put it in my bag and carry it with (very light weight) and it inevitably ends up buried at the bottom, so this turns out to be a 'must-have' item. I am so glad I did get this. Nice quality, soft leather but with a sturdy frame, magnetic closure. The On/Off button remains accessible (top) whether case is open or closed. The power cord (bottom left side) can be attached if the case is swung open for use in the car if not placing on the mount...i.e. holding in lap or on car seat. Also bought the clear static cling film for the display screen to prevent scratches, fingerprints and etc. Highly recommend both. Low cost to protect your navigation device, so if you are wondering whether you should get this...I would say Yes.

5 comments about Garmin MapSource Topo U.S. 2008.
  1. I purchased this for an E-Trex Legend handheld GPS that I use for OHV riding. I found that the Topo maps give adequate information on terrain, but leave out trails/roads that are present in the U.S Cities map that came with the Legend. So I traded out road/trail information for topographic information. I had assumed that the Topo maps would augment the routing information contained in the city maps, not substitute topography for routing. Since you can't use both maps simultaneously or switch on-the-fly with the Legend I'm not sure how useful it was to purchase this. The city map gives great road/trail info and the topo map gives great topography info, but I really wanted both in the same mapping software. Probably would not buy this if I had it do over again.

  2. I bought the Mapsource Topo to use when I go hiking in Colorado. It shows major trails and little-used backroads and most named peaks. I've been using it for about a month and still haven't figured it out completely. It could be easier in selecting map portions to download to my eTrex Vista. I may order the National Geographic map of Colorado for still more detail, but I've got to spend some time with it. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

  3. I purchased this product to use for hunting and scouting but until that time of yeat gets here I have been using it for Geocaching among a variety of other things. I am very pleases with this product, I installed it on my PC and downloaded it to my GPS and it is very easy to use on both and very helpful.

  4. I purchased this 2008 TOPO software because I did not have the latest version of base maps for Geocaching. After a month of not being able to load the software or read it on my eTrex Legend CX, I was told by Garmin that the units card reader "might" not be working. I'm completely frustrated with Garmin and the time it has taken for them to work this issue. So I returned the eTrex to the store it was purchased and got my money back.

The software seems like it works on my computer; however, since the purpose of this software is to transfer and help guide on a Garmin GPS - it FAILS.

Unfortunely Garmin Software does not work on other "outdoor" GPS units. As you know once software is opened you cannot return it.

  5. This product is pretty close to worthless. There isn't nearly enough detail to actually be meaningful. I intended to use this software for backcountry hunting. The few roads and trails that does show are nearly indistinguishable from other features on the map. The only good thing I have the say about this software is that it's better than nothing, but not much. A standard printed topo map is much more useful and accurate.

5 comments about Garmin Dashboard Mount for StreetPilot c310, c320, c330 and c340 (010-10613-00).
  1. Had one before that worked but the power chord connection at the mount frayed and we had to replace it. I was pleased they changed the connector to the mount with a breakaway connection rather than the hard wired one on the previous mount.

We prefer this type mount because we can easily store the entire GPS in the center console to remove the theft temptation and it puts the unit in a better visible position to the driver. We had a window mount and I found it to be a big distraction and went to this one.

  2. Purchased this mount for my c340 model and it fits fine. I use it with my Murano, which has portion of the dashboard almost horizontal to the floor. I do not notice much movement even when I am on the highway, other then slight vibration. Overall its very good, I wish it had some height adjustment that would allow me to place it closer to the steering wheel without much obstruction.

  3. This product actually stays on my dashboard, and does not move, even when I take turns. It is so easy to remove the whole product and hide it without unplugging it. When I enter my car, all I do is put it back on the dash board. I purchased a couple for Christmas gifts.

    Worth purchasing this one!

  4. I have had a Garmon GPS for a little over a year. It seemed that it would fall off of the windowshield from the suction cup mount at the most inopertune times. Also, the suction cup let a visible ring on the windshield which seemed like an invitation to potential thieves. The dashboard mount works wonderfully. I have tried it in my SUV and also our car and it sits securely on the dash. When I stop to shop, spend the night, or otherwise leave the vehicle, I can slip the GPS and mount under the seat or into the console. No windshield ring with this accessory.

  5. This is much improved mount and power connection over the manufacturers supplied mount that came with the Garmin. I highly recommend this and for the price it would be worth getting even if your existing mount still works.
