1. Great book with lots of great pictures. Covers all types of greenhouses, materials for building them, pre-fab kits, accessories, watering ideas, air circulation, and more. With all the pics, you can get great ideas about how you want yours to look.



2. Having moderate experience in gardening, no experience in greenhouse gardening, but unlimited desire to learn, Ortho's Greenhouses was a treasure of information. I learned enough to decide if this was an endeavor I had the resources for, and was able to have an intelligent conversation with my contractor about building a greenhouse. The book is thorough in all aspects of greenhouse considerations from initial plans to continuing expenses. A great investment!



3. I was left with more questions than answers after reading this book. There was a tidbit on most every subject but it didn't give me enough to feel like I could proceed with my plans for building or gardening in a greenhouse



4. As I find true with most of the "Ortho" books, this one is pretty impressive. It is not very big but they have a knack for getting a lot of info into a small amount of real estate. It doesn't tell you everything there is to know about greenhouses and greenhouse growing, but if you are looking for a book to get you started that won't take six months to read (or figure out!), this is the book you need.



5. This was the first book I got in my quest for a greenhouse, and I found it worth twice it's cost. While it is not lengthy, it gives great insite into the home or hobby greenhouse.. from history, to "how to," to purchasing a kit, to what to grow. It's honest and to the point. I've read it cover to cover so as not to miss anything, and found useful information in every chapter! A worthy purchase for those considering the purchase of a home greenhouse.

1. I have the older-unupdated version of this book and I am really happy that it is still available. It has everything in it from how to garden in your home (as is) to building a variety of solar structures (from outdoor "boxes" to solar pits and free standing greenhouses). Also there are recipes for soaps, teas and things like that which can be made from greenhouse-grown items. This book is really comprehensive and easy to read-- and emphasizes economically viable ways of doing things, and also variations for northern climates, which I really appreciate.

   Recommended whole-heartedly!

1. This book was used by my son Mark Luftig in a paper in his collage study in hortaculture. The information, details and little known facts this book has is simply amazing! For example, the paper mentioned was on the bulb family Hippeastrum. No other book (he had looked at over 30 other books in 4 different librarys) before he found this volume in the reference section on campus. Not only did it give information he had already gathered, but very specific information such as tempature needed to raise them, dormancy controls, media details and postharvest just to name a few. There are hundreds of other plants listed, all treated the same way. This enabled him to get his a very high mark on his paper as well as his final grade. It is very detailed and not for the weekend gardener but for the serious student or professional.

1. Wow! Pricey! But all plants in this "greenhouse" book are yard plants in zone 10/11. If you are way south and a gardener, you want this book in your libraby.
