  1. Honestly--I picked up this book because I was going to be creating a character to help a friend out and I was immediately hooked! I read the thing from cover to cover and have several times since. The text is written with a great sense of humor and gives valuable insight to the workings of those wacky little were-ravens.

  2. I'll say openly that I'm no fan of Werewolf. Don't get me wrong, I understand the system and I've played my share of the characters, but werewolves always seem to be played a bit to slash and kill for my taste. Well, you can imagine my surprise when a friend lent me this book and told me, despite my less the cheerful comments on the subject of werewolves, that it wasn't like the others. He was definitely right. Not only are were-ravens extremely interesting, and the book it's self amusing. It's a wonderful change of style from the typical werewolf characters. Were-ravens aren't slash and kill characters, but they have other interesting skills that lend depth to any game I've seen them in. Not only would I suggest this book to were-creature fans, I would suggest it to people who aren't (like me) because if you think that were-wolves are all about death, be prepared for a wonderful surprise.

  3. The wereravens are the messengers and scouts in the world of Werewolf. The history of the breed is narrated by a humorous Corax, who takes things that you think to be written in biblical style writing, and translates it into modern english (VERY funny)
I suggest this book to anyone who plays Werewolf but is getting tired of strictly garou and wants to add some color to the game.

  4. I have used this book many, many times to either make a Corax Character for myself, or to help others make their characters. The book is well written, and takes a turn away from the normal kill first and ask questions later style of the Garou (werewolves). The book is very informative and had a lot of background info for the Corax. If you are looking for a different type of character to play in your tabletop or LARP group, this is a great choice. Besides, how can you go wrong when you can have a character that can FLY?

  5. I picked up the Corax book when I grabbed three or four other Breed Books at my local game store seeing how they were three or four dollars each. Of all the books I bought that day, this was by far my favorite. The Corax are a changing breed in Werewolf: the Apocolypse, but have a completely different feel than anyone else I have tried. Corax are bird-brained scouts. Their style is great if you are the one at the game table constantly cracking jokes.

The book is, as per the norm for a White Wolf supplement, almost completely written from the perspective of an older Corax explaining the world to a younger bird. I personally found myself laughing on regular occasion at this narration. However, the history, purpose, style, and techniques of Corax were well covered.

The book also carries its standard comic in the front, something that was lost with the Revised editions of White Wolf games. This story gives you a short tale surrounding one of the supposedly legendary Corax, Raina. She is more deeply detailed toward the end of the book as well, if Storytellers want to include her in their story.

Overall, this book is quite possibly the best Breed Books White Wolf put out. Its humor, mechanics, and concepts will sell a player on the Corax quickly, and it will give STs something to play with that can both save their werewolf players' lives and annoy them to no end.

  1. Its fantastic to finally have a source book for the "forgotten" characters... the social outcasts and eyesores. These characters are the most challanging to play and this author brings new depth to role playing a pirah. James Moore's constant tongue in cheek humor keeps the book interesting and enjoyable. The new information available makes creating a "socially unacceptable" character much easier and offers many new avenues to choose from

  2. One another great hing about this book is that you can mix up a little the enviroment the players are used to play. Getting Vampire and Werewolf players to play togueter was a great idea, except for the fact that the vampire players were complaining that the "Lupines" were kicking their asses, but it was fun anyway. It's a great book.

  1. This one really is a must-have for the serious Storyteller. It is an in-depth guide to the Umbra. The sourcebook is packed with information, and seems to be fairly well-organized. I have found it very useful indeed: I could not Storytell for Garou without this book with any ease

  2. This book is a wonderful tool for any storyteller who wants to run a game which goes further than just going out and beating things up. It gives a glimpse of the other side of the gauntlet which allows you to run games full of depth, symbolism and meaning. It also give new locations for going out and killing people if you need them.

With a description of how the werewolves see the umbra, the near realms, rules systems, story seeds and insights in how to do the umbra justice in the game, this book can transform your games for the better. It did mine.

5 comments about Nuwisha: Changing Breed Book 2 (Werewolf - the Apocalypse).
  1. White-Wolf really did justice to every ones most loved and hated shape-shifters, the nuwisha. I really loved the art and information presented in whole! This book is a must for any white-Wolf RPer who enjoys to play a wild character!

  2. These are the ultimate Ragabash of the Changing Breeds. Everything you possibly need to know about them is in this book, including ideas on how to sneak them into a werewolf pack.

It's a little skinny, and could use an update.

If nothing else, ask your GM to borrow Nuwisha gifts and traits for use with your Ragabash werewolf; they should mesh well.

  3. This book is loads of fun, But is a little sketchy on charter creation.

Even if you don't play a Nuwisha, I recomend this book for pure entertainment value.

  4. This could have been so much better...I like the humor element, but there isn't enough depth to the book, or the nuwisha. I'll stick with the Kitsune and Ananasi as my changing breeds.

  5. Nuwisha are a blast to play, but if you're hoping for all you need to play them, this book is Necessary, but not sufficient. You're also going to need the players guide to Werewolf, since the Nuwisha book doe NOT contain all of their gifts. NOR does it contain creation rules. It does however, list their Totems, a few gifts, and Nuwisha Only merits and flaws. It also has their creation mythos, and a few secrets. AND AS AN ADDED BONUS, It has Old-man-manyskins in it. Yay, huh?

4 comments about *OP Axis Mundi: The Book of Spirits (Werewolf: The Apocalypse).
  1. This is a must-have for any Storyteller that deals with the Umbra and spirits, for Mage or Werewolf. It is a very information-rich sourcebook, full of guidelines and expanded rules on spirits, and packed with information on the spirits themselves. There is a spiritual history of the Garou that is very informative

  2. I thought Axis Mundi would be a valuable aquisition to my werewolf stories, but wasn't. The mage storytellers will not understand why, whitewolf told that book would be useful for Mage campaigns. I wasted my money... Don't do the same mistake

  3. This is a pretty good book. If you are looking for information on some of the spirits who support the totems of the werewolf tribes, then this book is for you. You won't be disappointed.

However, I was disappointed with this book. The main reason for this is that I thought this book wasn't far reacing enough. According to the Werewolf universe, the Umbra is populated with thousands, if not millions, of different kinds of spirits, each with their own personality archetypes, wants, desires, interests, etc. But this book focuses mainly on the small number who serve the major tribe totems. This small slice of the spirit world is hardly fulfilling.

Another problem is that the book makes no attempt to describe how the spirits interact with each other, how any of the hierarchies of the totems work, or how any other spirits really behave or act out in the day-to-day life of the Umbra. Spirits are described as if their only purpose is to interact with the werewolves and not as if they are each self-sufficient entities.

So this book is good for what it is, but like many other White-Wolf supplements it fails to be all it could be. A much better book would have given more over-arching spirit information on a macro level so us creative-types could use the information they provided to populate our games with interesting individual spirits on a micro level.

  4. As much as I enjoyed reading this book and think it's a nice supplement for Werewolf, I can't see why White Wolf recommended it for Mage. Other than a short little paragraph in an info box, the book made little reference to Mage.

1 comments about Dark Ages: Werewolf.
  1. This is an expanded edition of the original Dark Ages Werewolf book.

First, the book keeps insisting that you need Dark Ages: Vampire to use this book, but any Werewolf book will do.

The book covers in great detail all 10 tribes of Medieval Europe in full detail. All the various gifts are detailed as well.

If you are a VAMPIRE player who always wanted to check out the Werewolves, this is the book for you, as it seems to be written for you. Veteran Werewolf players can skip all the Vampire stuff and find stuff that they will like.

    Definitely recommended.

4 comments about *OP Laws of the Wild Revised Edition (Mind's Eye Theatre).
  1. Although Werewolves are not something that any vampire wants to see, a Storyteller can often use them to stir up a campaign. This book has rules that make it easy to both create and properly role-play werewolves, or the lupines, as the licks like to call them.

Either way, these 10 foot tall terrors should make anyone afriad. Very, very afraid.

  2. We're now on our third incarnation of Werewolf rules for the Mind's Eye Theatre. For the third time, White Wolf has failed to even perform cursory review of their work. This is not a critical issue, but the errors have been carried over through all three incarnations! For instance, in the "Backgrounds" - "Rites", the work states that for three points in this background you can have one level 3, one level 2 and one level 1, or 3 level 1 rites. Problem, rites are ranked Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, not 1 through 5 as the paper game. A similar situation exists throughout the work. This poor work goes to show that the product was published for money not to truly enhance the game.

  3. First, I would like to point out I love the game, both Live Action and Paper. Now on to the Review, let's start with the good parts: - Balanced Play: The revised edition approaches LARP with a much more balanced perspective than previously available. - Documentation: The book provides considerable opportunity to truly understand the Garou perspective. - Cohesion: By using the mechanics standards presented in Laws of the Night Revised, the rulese systems are finally equal. And on to the bad points: - Editing: Possibly the most poorly edited game manual I have ever read. The placement of materials is good, but the errors are glaring. For instance, Background:Rituals says that you can buy one level of ritual per point spent. In LARP, rituals aren't leveled like theis, they are Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and not numbered.

  4. This book is an absolute MUST for any Mind's Eye theatre Storyteller.

It has excellent information on spirits that you cannot find elsewhere. Also, if you ever wish to bring werewolves into your chronicle, it has all the information you need.

This book is organized better than most of the Mind's Eye Theatre books.

All in all, I highly recommend this book to Storytellers of any WW genre.

  1. Personally, being a member of a weekly TT group, I've seen all too many times when our resident ST pulls this book out of his pack before a satisfying game to ignore its value...

  2. This is the book if you want to explore the never-ending realms of The Umbra, the previous edition, was packed with a better loyout, but inside this book is everithing you want to know about Umbra

3 comments about Silent Striders Tribebook (A Sourcebook for Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Tribebook 9).
  1. This Tribebook is very nicely put together. It includes a lot of history and cultural information on the Striders as well as the usual new Merits and Flaws and Gifts. I learned quite a bit just reading this one, and I consider it to be money well-spent. The Totems offered were interesting too. I'd say this is a must-have for Storyrellers and dedicated players alike

  2. The book contains an introduction to being a silent strider in a masterful manner, taking you on a head-first tour of trailblazing fun. The allusions to many epic Egyptian tales and their modified form in the World of Darkness makes this book an uptmost intriguing book to read. For mechanics, the book provides some interesting but balanced fetishes, gifts, and totems. Even the five basic auspice archetypes aren't silly. A good buy overall.

  3. This book gave me tremendous respect for the Silent Striders, the least respected of the Garou Tribes. Learn all about their spiritual roots and why exactly there are no Garou in egypt. Very interesting crossover possibilities into Vampire: The Dark Ages and The Masquerade. This text goes into so much detail about the tribe, even revealing how to name your Strider, and which Egyptian gods were Garou and which were Leeches. Learn about the War of Rage and the reason that Stiders attract wraiths. A definite must-read for fans of The Apocalypse. The best character I ever played was a direct result of reading this book.
