5 comments about Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven : Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- Loaded with valuable information, quest summaries, strategy tips; this guide is a must for the serious Might and Magic VI gamer.
- This guide offers some help but dost tell you where to go or what to do, some quests that you get are too tough for your party to handle. The monsters that you run into are way too many for your party to take on in real time combat for example it does not tell you about ambushes when you open chests like the ones in the Temple of Baa.The guide does offer some help in spells, weapons, armour, skills and monsters but that about it,it does not tell you what party to take. If you want a book with maps and some help buy it, but it will not walk you through the game, you will have to run and shoot alot in the dungeons. This book does guide you through quests but it does not tell you about what monsters are there waiting for your party. I bought it for the maps and locations of dungeons, fountains, towns and items in the dungeons. It tells you where to go in the dungeons to get what you whant. This book is addictive so get ready to use it alot happy adventuring.
- This is a so-so strategy guide. I'll take it chapter by chapter: Chapter 1: A good description of the history of Might and Magic, but you can't really go wrong with that. Chapter 2: A great instruction on how to build a good party. Chapter 3: An excellent and accurate description of every monster in the game, save for a few bosses (they're more fun to figure out, anyways) Chapter 4: A good description of all spells in the game, with some screenshot graphics thrown in. Chapter 5: Not too useful. This item guide shows you the exact same thing as you can see on the screen. Chapter 6: You can't really complain about this chapter, it tells you all about the skills well. Chapter 7: A pretty pointless chapter, you can find out all the information by talking to npc's. Chapter 8: Informative information about all types of locations in the game. Unfortunately, it does not tell you about where on the grid each location is, only what grid it is on. Chapter 9: A good description of the main part of the game. It spoils very little. Unfortunately, it does not tell you about where you will get ambushed along the way. Chapter 10: It shows you about all that is possible about the promotion quests, and the seer. Chapter 11: Not quite detailed enough. However, it provides adequate information about the minor quests that will be your lifeblood until you get fairly far. Appendix: The territorial maps are fairly good. However, they don't tell you where shops are, nor do they say where important houses are (it can be very frustrating spending hours looking for the bone-buyer in Free Haven) Overall, this book had guided me to where I am now, midway through the control center, without making it too easy for me or spoiling it, but still helping me and preventing me from getting stuck. Thanks for reading.
- I found it rather useful. Mostly I referred to the maps, and in several cases, was able to locate a section of dungeon I'd missed behind secret doors or stuff like that... The minor quest section could've stood a little more detail, and as mentioned the item and NPC sections were totally inane, but other than that I had little to complain about. As for plot spoilers -- if you don't resort to the book until you're truly stumped, you shouldn't be getting plot spoilers, because it's a pretty linear game, so a clue for a section of the game you're in doesn't mention stuff from somewhere in the future. At least that was my experience, FWIW, YMMV.
- If you are stuck halfway through the game or at the beginning, this guide gives you just enough info to have fun. You still get to figure out how certain things work, but this guide can give you a great head start. It doesn't give too much away (unless you read ahead) but it gives you ways to get things (spells, weapons, training) you might never have gotten before. The equipment descriptions can save you from having to pay to get them identified. Also, the "Minor Quests" section isn't teally detailed, but the book would weigh 50 lbs. if it did! Everything you could ever need for Major Quests is here and you get an additional edge on your enemies. At $15.99, this book is a great addition to your game.

5 comments about Pokemon Crystal: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
- This guide is good. but not too much. It didn't give me much help on the unown puzzle. I recommend you buy this game guide if you really want it, or get the versus book or the nintend guide.
- this is one of the best things that happened to me i tried codes but they were so hard to do.after i get this, you will to! i tellin ya.it doesnt help on unowns or battle tower though
- This guide helped me BUNCHES with my Crystal Version. This has;
A calender of events A walkthrough A breeding section A pokedex guide to 251 pokemon (missing out Celebi) It is VERY GOOD. ^_^
- Game guides for the Pokemon series like these are usually for casual players, or used by serious players mainly for the maps. There are a number of online, in-depth FAQ's on sites like gamefaqs.com which cover strategy that printed guides cannot. Prima's guide is certianly eye-candy when compared to the text file FAQ's found online. The maps are large and useful (by contrast, their Ruby/Sapphire guide has smaller maps which are harder to read for some locations.) However, there are shortcomings. It's ordered by area, so there are times when you must flip back through the book (after Team Rocket moves from Mahogany to Goldenrod, for example.) The Battle Tower is barely mentioned, the Pokedex only lists level-up moves for Pokemon (not TM or egg moves), and team rosters are only supplied for major opponents. It does have a very good breeding section and a listing of items. I recommend Prima's guide for the player who needs good maps, or who would like help getting through the game without spoilers for everything.
- I waited about two weeks for my new book but received an old book with alot of rips marks tears!and I contacted you to see is there anyway you can solve it,but you never replied.bad seller,is that ture?

3 comments about URU: Ages Beyond Myst (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- I got my Prima Official Travel Guide today. It's the Uru: Ages Beyond Myst strategy guide, but it's written as a sort of travel journal by a "former" writer of game guides whose life has changed dramatically following his experience.
It's written with a good knowledge of the game and its history, and has a good synopsis of the background, which will make a novice to the series appreciate Uru all the more. The style is pleasantly witty. Even the forward from the editor, and the "advertisement" paid for by the DRC at the back of the book, are in character and amusing. The book has tons of game information. It contains the text of all the notebooks, journals, and letters in the game. There are many snapshots that look like Polaroid pictures taped or paperclipped into the book. The text is in a handwriting font that isn't too hard to read. Of course, there are also maps, and descriptions and pictures of how to do all the puzzles. In my opinion, it's a real shame that the entire interior of the book is done in black and white. That's the only fault I find with it. If it were all done in color, it would awesome! I'd certainly be willing to pay more for a full color edition!
- Not too clear. Prefer the way it was done in Myst. Beware! if you download URU updates, this book becomes obsolete. Correct me if I'm wrong PLEASE!!!
- This guide is one of the best I have seen. It seems Prima has a knack for putting a strategy guide for the games we love. I try to buy only guides by Prima, but sometimes I'll play a game that they don't have guides for so I must look for other ways. But on an overall vote as to a complete walk through and solving puzzles I highly recommend Primas Guides, and give them a vote of 5 Stars on a level of 1 to 5 and 5 being the highest vote to obtain. They are very detailed in explaining what to do as you take your journey through your game.

5 comments about Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus.
- If you are truly serious about game programming then this is the only book to pickup. Mr. Lamothe writes in a very simple tone explaining away everything. He assumes nothing and explains everything.
This book is not for someone that does not have a semi-concrete understanding of C/C++ and object oriented programming. The Windows game programming book for dummies is not for dummies. It skimps on areas that this book dives into and I am sincerely thankful to Andre for teaching me DirectX programming.
- This book is THE one to get if you're looking to start Windows game programming fast. Yeah sure it's several hundred pages long but it covers so much with so much detail. From the basics of 2D, AI and other cool things to hard core physics and 3D math (on the CD). Andre even helps build a 2D gaming engine for you to help cut your coding work in half! Now where else can you find that kind of help?
- excellent book, a must for anyone who's interested in game programming! great for beginners!
- I love this book. I knew a little c++ and a little DirectX. I read this book and it gave me a great understanding of it all. I have already made a couple of pretty good games. If you want to know how to make games then I would definitly recomend this book to you. If it made me able to make games I am sure it will be great for you.
- This is a really good book...and I enjoy reading it. I keep it as a reference in the process of creating games...and always gives me satisfactory results. If your planning to buy this book buy it. This book takes from GDI to the fundementals of 2D and 3D programming.

5 comments about The Sims 2: Open for Business (Prima Official Game Guide).
- I think I have bought every one of the Prima guides for the Sims and Sims 2 games - I will never buy another one. Most of the book is in 8-point or 10-point font ... fine if you're 15, but if you're over 35, it's infuriating. Trying to read the tiny type with my contacts in gave me a headache, reading it with my glasses was impossible, so I ended up reading it without my glasses with the book about an inch away from my nose. WHAT A PAIN! Does Prima not get that not all Sims addicts are teenagers? Stupid, stupid book design, and stupid for future sales if Prima doesn't figure out that customers, like Sims, do grow older ...
- Like all the other Sims 2 Prima Guide, this is just great! I find it incredibly useful. So much good info, some that you may never find anywhere else... and even if you do find it somewhere else, at least you know this is official!
And yes, even the official guide includes cheats and tricks! This one includes new ones that you can only use if you have Open For Business. :)
- Prima is "Premium", the most useful and helpful tool that my wife and I have gotten for the Sims games!
Thank you so much to all those involved with the making, publishing, and marketing of these Wonderful Help and Instruction Guides!
Sincerely,
Gary L Hoffman
- To the reviewer who complained about the font. I'm 42 and can read the guide just fine. Please do not lump people over 35 with you, evidently you have bad eyesight, and that's not Prima's fault. Definately buy this guide no matter what age you are!
- well i have the other guides to the other ones but this one cant be ordered at barnes and noble and i come on here but i want to know why its so expensive..??i cant figure out how to play it without the book...

4 comments about Massively Multiplayer Games For Dummies (For Dummies (Sports & Hobbies)).
- One of the biggest themes in computer gaming has been the rise of massive multiplayer games. Jennings takes you, the uninitiated, on an easy tour of these games. He shows that the rich interactivity with human players is the attraction. As contrasted to playing a game against purely software opponents.
Another common theme in these games is that the other humans are not necessarily your opponents. Instead, there might be a community, with cooperative behaviour exhibited, that leads to benefits for all parties involved. The team aspect can be compelling.
Beware, though, of the potentially addictive nature of these games! Some fans have become obsessively drawn into these, to the detriment of their real, mundane lives.
- I've been Playin DAoC for about 4 months when I bought this book. A friend who has been playing for 3 years got me into it. This book answered showed me alot about these kind of games that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. For just coming into the game, this was a real useful tool in getting me playing and understanding the game better. I now kill Hibs and Mids alot more effectivly.
- Scott Jenning does a great job of covering the basics of MMOGs, introducing the reader to a wide array of topics: Class role, group teamwork, endgame play styles, professions, and etiquette.
As an intermediate player (~60 days played in WoW, a level 60 and many level 40 alts), I still found lots of new ideas, as well as lots of confirmation about things I had suspected, but was unsure of.
If you want to find help getting into your first MMOG, this is an amazing book. If you are an experienced player, this is still worth the read for the entertaining anecdotes and the few tidbits that you might not yet know.
- I found that this guide focuses mostly twords newer players but was still an intersting read for someone as experienced as myself with over 5 years of MMO experience. Typical of a "for Dummies" book it was a plesent mix of humor and facts making it a very easy and amusing read regardless of your experience.
Some of the main things that this book covers is considerations when picking out a MMG, an over view of games avalible at print time, first few days in the MMG world, a guilding over view, and end game. This book also has a glossery of MMG related terms in the back of it and a CD with a 14 day trial of DAoC and a 15 day trial of shadowbane(both of which are avalible for download).
For those that are new to MMG's I would strongly sudjest reading this book I wish it would have been avalible when I first started playing. A MMG is nothing like playing your standard consol game where everything is straight forward and layed out for you, I found this book to explain the dynamics of MMG game play in a fun and intersting way.
For those that are more experienced to MMG's its more dificult to see weather you will find this book to be of your liking. More experienced people to MMG's wont find this book to be praticlary informative but will probly still find it to be a fun read and will end up with a few happy memories poping into your mind as you read through this book.
I rated this book with 4 stars because while I found it to be a fun read it wasnt praticlarly usefull with my experience in MMG's however I did see where it could be usefull to less experienced people

3 comments about X-Men(tm) Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse Official Strategy Guide (Official Strategy Guides (Bradygames)).
- As usual, I bought this book after I completed X-Men Legends II, and actually used it to play through the game another time. To a certain extent, I'd say that it's a pretty handy guide for anyone who needs a step-by-step walkthrough of the game, even though it does have its fair share of errors and omissions.
The maps in this book, like those in the first book, are particularly useful. Numbers are allocated on the maps, and a table is always found beside a map to identify what you can find at these locations, be it a disc, a sketch book, a comic, a homing beacon or even a boss fight. This essentially makes the text redundant, as a player can simply look at the map, check the incidents from the table, and proceed without having to read a whole lot of text to proceed.
The characters building section of the book is also adequately written to provide the reader a general idea of how to level up your favorite characters. Players who're interested in maximising the potential of these characters should find the tips here pretty useful.
The book also has a mandatory "trivia game" section that has with all the answers for the Q&A mini-game found in every act of the game. There're a couple of errors here though, so you may be frustrated by the unintentional sabotage that causes you not to get 100% correct on the questions.
All in all, this is an above average guide that is nicely structured, well presented and informative. Recommended if you really need the assistance.
- We have been using this book while playing the game and have found that it is very frustrating. Things are mislabled, in the wrong place, and there is not enough information on some of the characters. We found better information looking on the internet. Also it does not tell you that you can only get some of the extra characters, like Cable and others, in the PSP version of the game. I would not recommend this book to people buying the game.
- It is a great game for one person to play alone or several.

3 comments about Call of Duty 3 Official Strategy Guide (Brady Games Official Strategy Guides) (Brady Games Official Strategy Guides).
- I tend to buy the strategy guides, more than anything else, to build up my multiplayer game for Xbox Live. I want to learn the intricacies of different maps, learn where weapons and power-ups are, and compare the loadouts available in multiplayer.
Unfortunately, the multiplayer coverage in this book is pretty limp... a footnote, at the end of the book. The maps in this book are micro-sized. The authors don't give any real tips for individual maps. They do have a few interesting tips, but not enough to justify buying this book.
I usually expect much better from Bradygames... their books have given me a powerful advantage with other titles. But the strategy guide for COD3 is just not worth purchasing. Move on to something else.
- I like to play this game all the time, it is really realistic to me.
- Go online.

The maps are useful, but the games AI make the tactics

something you will master through other means.

5 comments about Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (Prima's Official Strategy Guide).
- Tombraider is an awesome game, i would highly recommend this book. There are several puzzles, secrets etc..that without this book you would not be able to find.
- The Prima guides for all of the previous Tomb Raider games have been spot on and extremely helpful for those times you when your in a tight spot and don't know how to get out of it. The guide for AOD however is plain misleading. I chucked mine aside and decided to wing it on my own. Apparently the guide was written way before the game was finished, so some things just don't add up, somethings don't even appear in the game and some things are completely missing. I hate to say this but don't waste your money. If you're really stuck, you're much better off hitting the various tomb raider BB's on the web. Much more helpful!
- This guide is good most of the time but there are parts of it that are totally wrong. Lots of time it'll tell you to kill the guard and collect his gun. Only there is no gun there. This is either a problem with the game or with the book. There are so many bugs with the game it is hard to tell. Anyway, both the game and the book are terrible. Eidos should be embarrassed.
- I'm on the 26th level, and this book got me through the last 25 levels. I'm so happy that Prima came out with this book. It tells where all the items you need are, it tells where all the secrets are, etc. It even gives detail on what you're supposed to do on both Lara and Kurtis's missions. It was very helpful to me, so it should be helpful to you!!!
- A week after Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness came out, i bought my PS2. Along with the console and the game i bought Prima's *official* Strategy Guide. Upon starting to play, the first few levels are simple so there really isn't a use for the book until a level like Louivre Storm Drains and some of the levels following it. The guide helped me easily through some tough levels, but others like Louivre Galleries, i had serious problems. In the galleries, the guide instructed me to shimmy over four trip wires (2 of which were moving), i later came to find out this was IMPOSSIBLE. You instead must do a running jump over the wires from one of the display cases. Another problem surfaced in the Hall Of Seasons level. In that level i spent an hour trying to figure out why the door in the basement wouldn't open, i came to find out that you had to place 4 crystals by the entrance door (this wasn't mentioned in the guide). The guide caused me hours of frustration, making gameplay very uncomfortable. However, i'm giving this "official" guide 2 stars because it helped me through some levels in the game. The reason, i later found out, for these glitches in the book, were because Prima made this guide for the Sep. 02 release of AoD, they never updated it after the delays. This guide, in my opinion, isn't worth the almost twenty bucks i paid for it, the only thing i got out of this guide that was enjoyable was the full poster inside.
